Hi. I'm looking for an AR-10 that's light enough that I can shoulder it and shoot it comfortably. I've got a Trijicon Accupoint sitting around as well so I'll have a good optic for it.

I was initially looking for M&P 10's but I can't find them anywhere and nobody's distributors has them but I saw a Daniel Defense DD5V1 at one of my local gun stores that looked really good. You guys think I should get one?

I should say I'm not particularly interested in a SCAR due to the magazine cost. The Daniel is also more accurate in theory.
god bless

I have a colt and can confirm. Feels better in hand and shooting. Buddies have a ruger and a mnp, and even they can't deny.

Idk if you notice this, but the actions on Colts feel like they're greased all the time, especially when compared to M&P's and Rugers and even some BCM's

Yeah so smooth. I honestly wouldn't buy a ruger AR, I didn't like it. You can build one for same/cheaper.

Please offer insight why, as well.

>1945 SKS (Russian)

These things are pretty rare to find. Had a service life of 2 years before the AK-47 took over. The shape of this rifle and bayonet makes me super excited for whatever reason. I admire reliability over anything in mechanics, and this is no slouch being Russian and all. I've seen banana clip conversions and plastic mods to make it look and feel modern, but the wood and stripper clips is what gives this mofo so much character. I suppose you can compare it to the same affiliation people have for revolvers. Oldies but goodies.

Whatcha got guys?

Sorry for the necro bump, but this triggered muh enthusiasm.

>Had a service life of 2 years before the AK-47 took over.
The first production SKS rifles were produced in 1949 and continued being produced in the Soviet Union until 1956. The SKS did not have a short service life in the Soviet military. The AK didn't really kick it to the side until enough AKMs were produced so they remained in service until the late 60s/early 70s. Soviet made SKS rifles aren't even rare.

Hello /nra/

I am going to buy my first pistol in the coming week or two. Currently my only firearm is an old bolt action rifle. I have fired pistols maybe 5 times in my life. I know the simple rules of gun safety, and that's about all. What is a good type of gun and sort of place to acquire it for an idiot with no knowledge or experience? Should I buy it at a local gun shop or online? Any input appreciated.

Budget is $500 or less. Was hoping to pick up some ammo with the weapon too.

Reason for firearm ownership is practicing at the range, and self-defense for the home.

I have heard good things about canik and the like (glock copies essentially, around 350 each).

Smith & Wesson SD9 VE. I got mine for $300 with a serpa holster and a pox of hornady hollow points. Its basically a Glock but way cheaper. I have one and I love it.

This right here. It so much like a glock that from what I've heard they owe money to Glock each time one is sold.

Its pretty much everything you're looking for, good range gun, good home defense. As the guy who sold me mine said, "If I had to storm the Kermlin with only a handgun, this is what I'd take."

Take down lever is a bitch though.

When the meaning of a term can be construed as ambiguous, apply the plain meaning. Every other user in this thread was capable of doing that. So maybe the problem is you.

I'm starting to get really interested in Archery as a hobby - target, not hunting. Any recommendations for a mid-level compound, and/or recurve? I like the idea of both. Would prefer something beyond a beginner that I won't grow out of quickly.

Must look fucking bad ass, or come with a can of matte black spray.

i've got a 35# bear takedown recurve, and i think it's pretty much exactly what you're looking for (though you'll want a can of paint). should be less than $150US, target and arrows included

I second sammick. I have a 55# sammick recurve takedown bow for hunting deer, it was just over $200us ordered online from an archery shop that was out of state.

It's a beautiful piece of work, and I would say mid level considering it's much better than anything you'd find at Walmart, but not nearly as expensive as some of their recurve bows which went upwards of $600.

I had to buy my own target and arrows, but that'd be maybe another $50 for the target plus half a dozen arrows with bullet tips

Watching the Empire of the Rising Sun flood across China and take island after island, looming ever closer to his homeland, one man took it upon himself to build the machine that would defend his homeland against the Japs.

Bob didn't have things like money, resources, engineering experience, or had actually seen a tank before, but he did have a tractor, some corrugated roofing, and a can-do attitude.

I give you the Bob Semple Tank.
