So, would 420 gun-nons agree that everything under "simulationist" is /nra/ approved?
I've been watching the hell out of Project Reality on Youtube, mostly Bluedrake42, and it looks like more fun than a barrel of Darwins.
Squad has prettier graphics, but looks a lot more buggy. I guess it hasn't had as long with a dedicated community to polish it as PR.

red orchestra 2 and insurgency have a nice balance between fakeness and realism, but it is too bad how claustrophobic all of the maps are because I like being able to flank. I thought that ARMA2 was kind of a mess.

RO2 is gay. Fuck that whole mess called a game.

Arma is just chaos outside of enthusiastic clans that take every last thing like it is the end of the world and the reason we have Dayz is because of that very reason.

Honestly, Realism games get really old fast.

Squad hits a nice balance. The conversations on the mic chat can be pretty funny and the squads leaders vary from robust to incredibly incompetent so you can have fun rolling the dice on what squad you join every time. Getting a mic and joining mic squads is a must though. It's in alpha but it's still better polished than most the stuff that has come out of greenlight/early access.

TBH I kinda wish someone would make an updated clone of counterstrike 1.6. The graphics weren't high end but it didn't matter because the gameplay was superb enough that you could play it all night and not care what the graphics really looked like. Also the modding community around 1.6 was amazing. Also also steam has ruined cs with all that pseudo-betting crates and loot crap. Fuck all that noise.

erm, most of the dev team of Squad worked on/started PR...
Think of squad more as a stand alone version of PR.

Check out Counter-strike classic offensive; It was going for a while, not sure if they stopped yet.

How about the Flashpoint games? I am limited to a console with no internet so Red River seems like as good as it gets for me.

Update
Red river is literally a puzzle to play. I imagine being the fireteam leader standing in the middle of a firefight with my mouth open and eyes squinting while the people around me are dying and im trying to figure out how to commamd them to get behind something so we can all die off at a marginally slower rate
