Hey /opi/. I've been on kratom for about a year every day use about 20g a day and have been off using pills and poppy seed tea for about 3 years. I am wondering if I could use vicodin once while physically addicted to kratom and not fall into physical opiate withdrawal.

unless you have some underlying plethora of mental or physical problems id suggest not trying to replace kratom with hydrocodone for maintanance

a hydrocodone habit is a bit more complex for most people than a kratom habit.
id think that either going cold turkey or tapering is a better option. sometimes people like to shit on kratom for "LOL THATS NOT A REAL OPIOIDS UNLIKE JENKEM!" but nonetheless the withdrawals are quite managable. should you choose not to taper youll most likely suffer symptoms that are equivalent to a flu.

if you absolutely insist on substitution therapy, you ought to go for fentanyl rcs to replace kratom. at the very least

I wasn't asking if I should switch to vicodin for matinence I'm asking if I can take vicodin once without going through opiate withdrawals. Is it cross tolerant in that way? Am I safe and no chance of going through opiate withdrawl using vicodin once when ive been daily using kratom for about a year?

I dont have experience in this particular area, somebody might but I dont know what the odds are that they'll see this and reply.

What I can say is that the likelihood that a dose of vicodin will trigger opiate withdrawal in a regulat kratom user is dependant on how much the user uses, how frequently, whether the user experiences withdrawal just from kratom cessation, the dose of vicodin the user is intending to take, when, why, if also being used in conjunction with kratom.

The only real way to know for sure is to do it. My advice, personally, is to consider why you had to seek external advice for a personal dilemma such as this. Some people are on the verge of doing something, they just need that extra push. Sometimes youre on the edge of doing something that you know can be good for you, but you may have to make a sacrifice, like choosing a better job but having to move to a new city. In other cases somebody wants to do something they know is potentially harmful to them, and they feel better about going forward if they know they arent alone. If they can get someone else to back their ideas.

OP here. /opi/ has gone to shit. I would go into withdrawal if I did not take kratom for a day. I am wondering IF I TOOK 2 OR 3 VICODIN 7.5mg WHEN PHYSICALLY ADDICTED TO KRATOM WOULD THAT SEND ME INTO ACTUAL OPIATE WITHDRAWAL?

It won't send you into wd. Only antagonists like bupe would do that. You're just replacing one opi for another so as long as you dose kratom the next day you will avoid wd.

Okay thanks. So kratom works the same way as opiates in that they cause the same kind of withdrawal? Can someone else confirm that? Is kratom different than opiates in the same way that it's a different than benzos (the withdrawal is separate from each other)?

It has other alkaloids in it that can cause other wd symptoms unlike opioid wd but it's quite mild. The main aspect of the kratom wd is caused by mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine which are both opioid agonists. So no, it's not like benzodiazepines and opiates. A better comparison would be tramadol vs traditional opioids but that's still a bad comparison since kratom doesn't have snri activity but you get the point I hope. I guess pst would be a better an analogy since it has all the different alkaloids as well but kratom is no where near as severe as wise as pst. I hope I didn't confuse you lol. Don't worry about it too much, just consider it a weak opioid like codeine for comparison, it's no where near as different than benzodiazepines vs opioids.

no problem, theres a few others here that can give input on this as well (Q, Press) so just go in front of your bathroom mirror at 3 AM and say hiffwe 3 times while spinning in circles to summon them.

Judging off my prior experiences (and this is all anecdotal anon, so take it with a grain of salt) yes, you absolutely can. I've used smack daily for years on end now. When my plug runs dry and I can't get hooked up with more I switch to kratom as a backup and use it for a few days (or weeks if the situation is really bad) at a time until I can get more to reup. My smack tolerance is pretty fucking high, I shoot it, and kratom still does wonders in taking away most if not all of my w/d symptoms and making me feel like I'm pretty much stone cold sober. Kratom w/ds for me feel like a lesser version of smack w/ds, and taking smack makes them go away too. What I'm trying to say is, at least in my experience, it feels like the w/ds for both of them are interchangeable and if you're a kratom addict the hydro w/ds will just feel like kratom w/ds if you do get them, and the moment you redose with kratom when you come back down from hydros your hydro w/ds will be gone. Cheers

Yeah I noticed that as well I assume is a cross tolerance thing.

yeah its a godsend for WD. kratom has saved my ass more times than I can remember. also a bonus when it randomly hits you like a truck and you get a nice high from it (cimetidine + CBD makes it quite nice). every opi user should have at least a few hundred grams in their stash for when the dboy doesnt answer.

kratom is similar to opiates in a way as weed is similar to synthetic cannabinoids.

first ones are partial agonists: weak rush, weaker high, much-much milder withdrawal, no overdose danger.

second ones are full agonists: strong rush, strong high, harsh withdrawal, overdose danger.

isn't 7-hydroxymitragynine is a full agonist?
