Is it realistic?

it does happen but rarely nearly this bad and can be avoided entirely if you do your shit right, this sort of thing only happens when people get lazy

Had a streptococcal infection/abscess in my basillic vein once, my arm had swollen up 3x its normal size and I just about lost my right arm from the elbow down (and actually just about outright died from sepsis). Idk if OP's pic is realistic. IME there is generally a lot more swelling and in the final stage of the pic it's like the main character from the movie wasn't even trying to find a vein. Was kind of just like "may as well stab this rig anywhere in the crook of my arm for optimal junky effect!"

Requiem for a Dream is a pretty shit representation of the life... Except for the Ass to Ass thing. That happens a lot okay.

i was hustling before i moved, but now in my state, i got insurance in a couple days after a hospital visit. they called me up, got me state insurance, and its all covered. if youre below poverty line, insurance is super easy to get. and if you can't, goodrx cuts about 50% off the bill, which is what i did before. also, pills are cheaper.

what drug were they doing in the movie? i was under the impression it was heroin but at one point time speeds up and their pupils always get "huge"

part of how grossly inaccurate the movie actually is at parts. the part about your life falling to shit and doing immoral crap just to stay alive is totally true.nb

i can almost recall seeing an interview or something with the director where he said they choose to enlarge the pupils rather than restrict them to make it clear to the audience that they where getting high. the majority of casuals doesnt really know that opiates restrict your pupils, they just relate big pupils with beeing high in general.

cant give u a good answer but ime most people who lose/damage their arms do it because they shoot up something stupid (shooting metadone, not filtering etc) and get the damage more or less in one go

Just a fuck up. I forgot what movie I was watching recently that surprised me with the detail. Opening scene dude goes to the bathroom and you see him snort a powder and I assumed he was a coke head but zooms into his face and eye pupil pinpoints.

Was a really fucking weird movie but a decent watch. Thought Nick Cage was in but can’t find it on his filmography. Guess it was someone else.

>>609970I think pic related only happens if you play this kind of game as dirty and frugal as you can but if you use clean needles and decentish dope like everyone else it won't happen op

Reqium for a dream is the worst movie ever made.

it's grossly fucking inaccurate. i've never done heroin before but even i know the shit being depicted in that film is retarded and not even remotely in touch with the reality of a heroin junkie's situation.

the only thing it got right was "you will steal stuff to get money for heroin". everything else is complete garbage and bullshit.

also the end how the two characters get locked up for no reason other than one of them has an infected arm is retarded. you can't go to jail for "having a junkie arm" its not like they even had drugs on them or were busted with heroin they were just withdrawing.

its a horror movie used to terrify people by exaggerating what will happen if you take perscription adderall or become addicted to opiates. its just an ugly and shitty movie and not in a good way.

hated it since i was a kid

Everyone seemed to take OPs question as "Is this accurately you?"

Most heroin users don't have noticeable tracts. Using clean needles in different spots every time can make it impossible to see. Using old/dirty needles in the same spot over and over again can very much be just like depicted. And some people do it. In some places, syringes can be extremely hard to come by depending on local laws. Some other places you can have them delivered in minutes for free with added goods. The other thing, using the same syringe in the spot can be very tempting as it may become pain free, and consistently delivers a vein. The familiarity can become great enough that you could do it wearing a blindfold. I had about 10 spots where I can get a vein within seconds. If its not one of those spots, it may have taken me 30 minutes or more, and hurt puncturing the skin quite badly.

There were other times when I did everything as safely as possible and followed all harm reduction. All this is past tense. I don't do any of that stuff any more.
