Seeing as we've been rolled back to December, we may as well start new discussions again. So cacao. Discuss.

I got some pure cacao balls from the DomRep and I've been blending it up in my smoothies

it gives a very noticeable boost in energy that is much cleaner feeling than other forms of caffeine intake

Get a warm fuzzy feeling + stimulated when I eat a decent amount of dark chocolate. And sex feels extra good on it. Chili peppers seem to make it stronger. I read somewhere that some of the chemicals in chocolate are related to E and you can definitely tell when you eat a fuckton of it.

Researched it about a year ago, so what i say might be incorrect. I remember reading that the fat in uncooked beans contained MAOIs and a cannabinoid endogenous to the human boday. One time I ate ~40-50g of raw cacao nibbs, smoked a small amount of cannabis and got somewhat more intoxicated.

Toss in some blood orange and crystallized ginger. I haven't been able to really put my thumb on the mechanism of action, but I know that cooked ginger has different constituents than raw, and blood oranges contain synephrine.

>much cleaner feeling than other forms of caffeine intake
that's because it's theobromine, not caffeine

>>132117
>definitely a aphrodisiac
yeah, and theobromine is a vasodilator so bigger boners
caffeine is the opposite, vasoconstricter

I liked cacao a lot and overdid it. If you find yourself drinking 5+ cups of it a day, taper off. I would keep it to one or less daily. Increased odds of kidney stones as well I've heard... not as benign as coffee

I've tried half to a whole bar of this stuff and thought I felt some empathogenic effects. I originally started cutting it up into 1g-ish pieces and having it daily because of a study I read about the possible health benefits of its components: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6225491/ - suggests it reduces DNA damage and has some other benefits, its really promising. Though I'm also wary dark choc might have a bit of MAOI, idk.

Make some oatmeal in the mornings and put squares of this chocolate on it. It will melt and give the oatmeal this really nice taste.

Just eat cacao nibs if you're going to go 90+% dark. The flavonoids are more intact due to less processing.

Also, with cacao nibs you don't get the sugar and sugar blunts most of the potential heath benefits. Dark chocolate is borderline scammy in that way, pushed as a health food when it's loaded with refined sugar even in the high cacao %s.

Lindt 90% has 14g carbs, I looked at two cacao nibs products where one had 9g carbs and the other had 58g, very strange, I can't account for the difference. And I just checked two more, 30g and 1g. Very weird. I'm doing keto though personally, I don't think the 14g carbs from the Lindt would make much of a difference to anything.
