I think the marketing was just a lot easier (and passed around by more people) because of the nostalgia factor of going back to revisit Kanto. Like it all hammered home on the "you played this as a child, get back to it!!" Rather than marketing it from a "you played the app, now play the game!!" standpoint.

They definitely still market the hell out of their traditional core games, and they have continually added things to cater to the more 'serious' pokemon audience (chaining for hidden, more transparent and easier IV breeding come to mind). If anything I think they just realise that they can pull money from more casual folks AND pull it from traditional fans in similar amounts, so they are going to continue with that as a mild diversification to ensure that the pokemon brand keeps going after they push through a 1000 pokemon.

Also naw no Farfetch'd or Delibird evolution. However, would love mega delibird. Just throwing presents around with 600 base state fuck yeah.

Being unable to transfer a huge chunk of all the stuff I have EV trained and leveled is probably going to be a deal breaker for me.

Unless they release an update down the line or fix this shit with whatever games come after Sword & Shield.

I let the lack of Battle Frontier in ORAS slide. I overlooked the rush-job they've done with so many of their games.

I thought Dynamaxing was stupid as Hell, but hey, at least we'll have the biggest Pokémon lineup yet, right? RIGHT?!

Honestly, I no longer care about that. All I care about is whether or not Game Freak can improve the animations, and give us neat features. Animations was the main reason for the "regional pokemon" shift. If the animations look some akin to something like what we saw in Pokemon Battle Revolution, I'll be happy. If not, I'll just think of Game Freak as a lazy company that's full of shit.

I went to the pokemon center in London and (after waiting 4 and a half hours in the queue from 6 AM) I got to play the demo.

Pretty good from what I saw, it was just the water gym, but they made it look *good*, son, it's extremely pretty on the Switch, and the big battles didn't even chug at all which is a massive improvement on the 3DS games.

I mean, I'm still going to get the game because some of the new Pokémon are interesting to me. I appreciate that this will change VGC metagame and I'm excited to see how battle strategies will develop. Thank God there are no more Ultra Beasts and Landorus Ts at least.
Still, I wanted to battle with my bros on my team. It's shocking how many popular Pokémon will be unable to transition into gen 8. I hope Gamefreak reconsiders certain aspects of this decision.
If you're aiming to balance the metagame, just restrict UBs and legendaries in VGC format tournaments. Or something!
Anything's better than depriving us of the option to catch 'em all...

the way they talked about it, it doesn't actually change the nature, just the associated stat boost

I wonder if there'll be contests or anything that nature might affect separately from stats for that distinction to be worthwhile outside of roleplaying fluff
