My friend gave me pic related. I didn't bother planting it because I wanted to cook it ASAP, but that got delayed because of my medical practicum and exams. It's holidays now and I found this satanic looking thing drying up, sprouting a little even. Is it still ok to de-spine and cook? Doesn't look rotten. Will it just take a little longer to cook?

what does this have to do with necromancy? Just cook your cactus, boy.

OK sorry I was being clever; I just noticed it looks more and more 'dead' than it was on delivery. I don't think the molecule is affected by this but just wanted to know if it was commonly stored and used like this, or if I was maybe fucking with dark magic.

Yes sir, of to the woods I go!

totally normal! the cacti are very hardy. The sprouting is normal and eventually it may try to grow roots. Takes weeks though. The rot would be blackish. Good to despine and cook. Doubt it will take any longer. I think you will find it's not a hard trip, doubt you're getting over 250 mg mesc at most. It's the real shit though. Imo use some fresh lemon or lime juice and don't sustain a medium boil, mostly do low and slow.

Wow thanks for this post, very reassured!

I have cooked it previously, but something like 5-6 years ago. I absolutely appreciated the experience every time. My favourite visualisation was hours after despining, I closed my eyes and saw endless, cascading columns of spines. I found myself at-ease around nature but averse to being in a house or normal public interaction. I spent most of the day at botanic garden, climbing a small cliff nearby, listening to good music at the beach and talking to my friend also tripping.. Ended one trip with a joint and did some kick-boxing with same friend, was an utterly meaningful and cosy time.

This trip will be my stag party (bachelors party) in the woods, near some natural hot springs. I plan to drop half a tab with it, smoke and drink a lot. Is this generally OK? I'm quite mentally resilient, but never had 4+ substances. Will probably cut down the alc.

Sounds like a wunderschoen time, and a nice one you've got lined up too. For the first, I think most of these substances give the same general reaction. Averse to public, down with nature. I personally would love to visit a botanic garden on mesc.
All sounds good for the party. I don't know much about alc/psy but you know smoking will really accelerate things so just take a hit, give it a few minutes, etc. Be safe have fun.

Not to make another thread, i am curious what are the advantages of doing an extraction vs just boiling it? Is it worth the effort for most people? How much do extractions vary in difficulty?

This is a lie. You need to eat a lot. Mescaline content in fresh live cactus is a fraction of one percent of mass. I haven't done the extracting, seems like a pain since you're working with a lot of biomass. But it would work similarly to a DMT tek, where you get the alkaloid by doing different solvents on different passes, some decanting. You must be very careful using polar solvents which are volatile and flammable, and probably find a good strong base which can be hard to do. Just boil it man. Do several boils and add the extract to a common pot, each time strain the pulp through a shirt, and reduce to like 8-12 fl oz. Use distilled water and stainless steel cookware. The way I see it, boiling works fine for the curanderos and shamans, it will work fine for you.

Just to be sure, I'm saying he's mistaken about eating only a small bit. He's not mistaken about foregoing the center. You want to eat the green part right under the waxy exterior.

Hm well i used the whole cactus, approx 1ft worth. I bolied it for a bit more than 6 hours before straining it out into a bottle which made maybe 600ml. I have an iron gut so i dont mind the volume, but does this sound ok?

It war with cactus wielding ancient azteks that manifested your question? Because I can possible help you out unless you are already good.

I took their calendar and they cleared you so go on.

Like I told you >>893429 it's barely enough for just one person, in my experience. It looks like each section is not even a foot long?

Like how much did you even do in your prior report? >>893433 I thought it was just you taking the mesc this time around, I think making it for two is stretching it. Even if you have half a tab, what about Person B? They will probably eat a bunch of nasty cactus and not have anything even happen if the amount is too small.

That's one of the most puzzling parts. I'm pretty sure that for San Pedro the content is very low, marginally higher in Peruvian torch, and higher still in peoytl. But within each species, how much can it vary? I'd love to find out conclusively. I don't think it's much though! There are various strains or lines of these plants too, some might be more potent the way psilocybin mushrooms are?

PC strain of San Pedro is barely active. If u grow san pedro from seeds, u have chance to get good genetics like peruvianus.
I advice u Trout's notes.

OP reporting in.

This might disappoint but I gave away the cactus to a friend and took a hit of acid instead. It was a full-moon party in the middle of BFE with a good party of dudes all tripping. It was his first time and he said it felt quite deep, like a generalised sense of attention to everything. Thanks for the advice; had a blast.
