I know there's threads about starting to do rituals, and I'm sure there's a book thread down the line, but I want to cut the necrobumping and start a new one here.

I'm not interested in actually doing magic, to be frank I don't believe in it. However I am very interested in this shit, call it an intellectual fascination or whatever.

I'd like to find books that talk about what the occult really is about, be it good old hermeticism or modern pagan texts, anything that can provide overview of the logic and history of the occult. And I'm not against reading about rituals and the practical instruction of the occult either.

Anything to start with would be great, thanks.

I also am intrigued by the possible benefits of ritual. Probably too lazy to do anything more than read about it though. Rituals need to mean something to the person doing them, not just be a chore done for the sake of doing the chore. Kind of mad my parents never saw the need to pass me down shit to deal with shit.

No, rituals don't need to mean anything. Here ya go. All of those newbie rituals passed on by old timers? The ritual has nothing to fucking do with what's going on. It is literally about going through the motions. It is the form that matters here. They are designed to teach the nature of form in the context of magical work. Look at the LBRP as an easy to find example on the internet. Ignore all the words and bullshit and watch the shapes the body forms during its execution. If you want to see something more entertaining though, compare to religious dance in the east, such as the Rudra Tandava.

Argue? You think that is arguing? I was fucking spoonfeeding you, and now you ask for peer review? Fuck yourself, this is why Wizards allow newfags to wallow in the mud searching blindly on their own.

Here's a peer review for you; dude is right. Literally everything he said about why magic is the way it is is the truth hidden in plain sight (or sometimes explicitly stated if you get deep enough.)

Whatever happened to the good old days when mind bending realities were the norm? When delusions ran rampant? Persecution, grandeur, love, etc?

Oh wait

You may not acknowledge it, but everything submits to misconception.

Ignore everything in this thread.

Look into chaos magick. It takes a non-dogmatic and results orientated view. I recommend Liber Kaos by peter j carroll. It starts off with 50 or so pages of quantum mechanics before it even dives into magick. After that take a peek at Liber Kaos and Psychonaut, which is more of a training manual of sorts.

The author, I'm not sure if he founded it, but at least headed one of the most prominent modern Magickal orders on the planet (The Illuminates of Thanateros) for more than a decade.

Well seeing as I know very few magickal orders and the IOT is one of them, I think its fair to say they are prominent enough. I also believe they do a yearly meet n greet in my city. You are literally the first person to ever voice such an opinion to me

I had a thread on /b/ going on about this kind of esoteric stuff, which I might as well mention here.

Also I am interested in your guys' opinions on this

I must also actually get my act together and attempt to contact someone who actually did warn me about this stuff a long time ago and I thought was just a schizo, but he turned out to actually be completely right.

Israeli disinfo. They always call Luciferianism Satanism, as a misdirection, so that the predominantly Jewish-owned Church of Satan (anton Levey, aka anton Levi, was born and raised jewish, from the line of Aaron.) gets more donations.

First off Luciferianism and Satanism are pretty much the same exact thing. Secondly Anton LaVey was Russian. Thirdly it's LA Vey you fucking retard, not levey.

You seriously think that wikipedia is an unbiased resource? Have you never looked at anything on there that was even remotely controversial? The name Lavey is the french spelling/variation of the jewish tribal name Levi, as in the tribe of Levi. He was born in fucking chicago in around 1930 to a jewish family. Why the fuck do you think his brand of satanism is just a theatrical version of secular judaism? Why do you think the predominant symbolism is a parody of Esoteric Judaism? He was rebelling more against his parents by making his cult, than against Christianity.

what if consciousness as a simple explanation is just the ability to perceive time? If this is true, then consciousness is just time manifesting. If this is also true, then what if the whole universe is conscious but this is inpercieavble because we are a mere part of it and looking through the eye of a needle when really it is everything in and of itself. If we are just gears in a machine perceiving time because we are conscious but time distorts things in a way where we perceive but a part of this consciousness. what if the secret to time lies within consciousness itself. now imagine this, what if you had an astronaut flying through space while their bestie was back home. what if you gauged the heat death of the universe into an equation where you both took a fuckton of shrooms at technically separate times but not so due to this equation factoring in time. Could you communicate with consciousness on a even wavelength like pulling on the strings of time or some shit? God will be the first organism truly plugged into the matrix with the ability to be conscious but not perceive time.

You have a decent understanding, but language blinds you. Time is not a force, but a list of measurements. Dimension of reality would work, but then you'd spend all day specifying not lenght, or mass, or position, etc. conscious simply refers to awareness that's why neurologists can't find it or anything that makes us more than input/output machines. What you perceive as time is sequence. The reason you don't recognize yourself as the Universe/God is your soul, or your sole perspective. Definition by division so to speak. Anything is possible if you figure it out, but there's easier ways to do the same thing. If OP is open to reading anything by anyone then Alan Moore's fine.
