What does /st/ think about paisley? Like, if I wanted to buy some curtains with a floral paisley pattern, would that be an appropriate decorative element for a man? Too tacky?

I like paisleys; I think they're very nice. I don't really see what being a man has to do with it, but yes, I think they're appropriate for curtains. Probably the only place I normally see them that I do find tacky is on ties (and usually in unattractive color combinations as well).

i agree it would be an OK curtain design and a tacky tie design. honestly though if it were my curtains i would get tired of it pretty quick. just go for dark gray curtains imo

Yeah I realized it was a little too busy for my liking. I ended up going with a moire pattern for the curtains. Still might get a paisley rug though.

I have solid colors elsewhere in the house but I want this room to be different. I'm going to use it as an office/workshop, so I need decor that I can stare at and be inspired whenever my ADD mind tries to wander away.

I decided to buy pants but i don't really know what would fit me.

I'm not really tall and I'm very thin.
I usually wear (metal) band shirts and hoodies from shows or internet but I don't really want to look like a 'metalhead'.

I think sportswear/activewear pants pants and a pair of jeans would be ok but I dont know what kind/size would fit me better.

And please excuse my english, i'm french.

Go to a store and pick out whatever to see what fits and looks good, it's not that complicated. Things to watch for for a good fit are waist size and leg length.

Don't go for a slim fit or skinny model jeans, IMO they look terrible on skinny people.
And make sure you have a belt for your jeans.

Random piece of advice, if you go to circlejerk's MFA subcirclejerk, they have a very good fashion guide that I went through at one point. It informs you of like a functional foundation of fashion to work with. If you have Neanderthal-like sensibilities of setting up fashion like me then you will find value in it. It brought me to a place where I had a solid wardrobe to live with. lol With that knowledge I can exist and not think my clothes are just the worst. I am going to continue to be protected. People seeing me won't think I have literally the absolute lowest sense of fashion imaginable.

I feel silly but I honestly think such clothing looks classy and pretty.

Men of 420chan,

Do you wear a suit? Where do you even start when it comes to suits? There are so many different types for so many different occasions. I've never really been the type to wear one, rather wearing just kind of whatever I liked at the time.

But now that I'm older and have been trying to get a better paying job, it would seem that I might need to actually invest in a higher grade of clothing and style. In other words, I have to start looking professional, both in the work place and possibly while networking socially. It's sucks, but whatever. Anyone have any tips for someone new to all of this?

I only own a black two-piece for dressy social occasions and a navy/chalk stripe that never really fit right, even after tailoring, that was supposed to be my interview suit. I never get a chance to wear a suit which sucks because I love suits and I look amazing in them.

I wrote this whole tl;dr but it was stupid. The gist is: Unless you're a boss suits are only for interviews. Avoid black suits as they generally aren't considered professional. To look professional, invest in some descent shoes, shirts and accessories and a nice sport coat or two. Then, when it is time to suit up, you already have everything else. For an interview suit, blue two-piece (no waistcoat, or vest) with some chalk stripes is your best bet because you can wear almost any color shoe/shirt/tie with it and still look good. Grey with stripes is a good bet, too.

Black suits are excellent for dressy social occasions.

The fact that black instantly makes your look way too dressy frustrates me to no end. I love the way I look in black more than anything else. It's really grey and gloomy today. I wore black pants and a grey polo with white horizontal stripes on it, so I decided to throw on a black blazer and instantly become a million times sexier. It's still way overdressing but today I don't fucking care, I just wanted to be beautiful.

black suits are fine for a professional environment, just wear a colored shirt and tie to mix it up

I have an old work cap on as I like to wear a hat while I'm sitting on the desktop.
I have my hoodie on because I'm always chilled inside.
I have some flannel PJs on because I'm trying to be comfy.
I have a PlayStation shirt on with Japanese lettering.
I have regular tube socks on.
I have some Xbox boxers on that has a small hole on the ass.

So what do you guys think about this stuff?

Many bash it because they were expecting something ground breaking and ultra creative from the house of Dior and they got this semi-generic linear juice without any significant depth or unique character.
But you know what? Fuck them. People around you will love it. I've gotten a dozen of compliments on this and I get complimented on fragrances very, very rarely. Although I don't like it all that much, up close it smells quite synthetic, it's one of those smells that smell better from a distance, others will enjoy it more than the wearer. What do you guys think about it?

So, maybe you ride a motorcycle or just have a rough life and prefer the extra padding. But a leather jacket and pants is sure to stink to high hell in a bad way if you wear it in the middle of the desert in summer. So assuming you get the thing licked cleaned by virgin maiden schoolgirls, when is the appropriate time, place, season and temperature for leather clothing?

But also fashionable. Is a unique look something you can achieve without borrowing too much from other people's looks? How extreme should you go? Should you just be you even if it's weird to many?

Who do you think has a unique but good fashion style, and how do you think they got it?

Well fuck, I wear dollar store T-Shirts that are 3x too big and regular brown pants that are also a size or two too big. They often have holes and perma-stains from being so old.

I don't look bad, it is just... Homeless-Chique. It is inspired by Fallout or something.

I like the 80s. I like the comfortable clothes, the drab/subdued/dull colors mixed with bright colors, baggy sweaters, surplus, faded jeans, windbreakers. I think it looks like the right balance of function and style. Pictures from the 80s make it look like there was a lot more freedom of expression in peoples clothes too. I have some of my mom and dads old 80s stuff and i love it. My dads lettermans jacket from an oil company he worked for, my moms highschool sweaters, old running shoes etc.
