No...just no. I worked for a corporate place that would make you get those shoes and deduct the cost from your paycheck. They'd fall apart in a few months. Eventually I just bought a pair of Wolverines that lasted me like 2 years and didn't look stupid. Shoes for Crews are comfortable but they are not built to last.

Yeah I went through two different pairs of Shoes for Crews in about 7 months, tho wearing them outside of work too. I want boots decently priced & durable (2+ years would be awesome), via reviews Caterpillar may be best, Wolverine and Red Wings look good, but they're expensive. Thurogoods looks alright, but there's no reviews so not sure of durability.

this thread is a little old now, but oh god why would you wear steel toes 'out' or anywhere but a workplace that requires them.

regardless, im actually shopping for a lower-end/decent-ish pair of work boots at the moment myself. no steel toe. i work in a machine shop--not much walking around but on my feet all day mostly on cement. gotta not fall apart from that, exposure to stainless steel chips all over the ground, etc. $20 walmart pair been holding up surprisingly well for what they are but need to be put down soon, so i figure it might be time to make an investment.

anybody know much about the wolverine 1000 mile boot collection? specifically i was looking at the Hartmann because it is basically the cheapest of them and one of the few with a rubber instead of leather outsole. they are on sale for i dunno how long and the promo code extra15 gets an extra 15% off sale items til friday the 30th, so they come out to $135 which isnt entirely unreasonable. can these be used as actual work boots or are they just work boots mostly in the 'fashion' sense?

You go back to 2008
You should have a better pic than just that, they won't know wtf to do with the other half of your face
Vast generalization, but vastly generally speaking, the barber will on average cut it a little shorter than what your pic is of, and the salon people may be afraid to cut enough. It really comes down to if THAT specific haircut person knows how to cut that kind of hair. Literally just keep trying people out every few months

Who follows this? Does anybody feel like this guide is made for people from 1912?
For me it's like..
White-tie to black tie optional => Wedding or funeral, maybe
Semi-formal and biz caz => Job interview
Casual => Uptight dicks with no fashion sense at work
Ultra casual => 90% of the world
Sloppy => Grunge rock musician

Anybody else feel like the stuffy, uptight workplace makes the world a lot less pleasant to look at fashion wise?

you should decide who you're trying to impress before you try to impress them. Once you understand who or what you're buying / dressing for, you can easily determine what looks good or bad.

Protip, its usually dressing for sexy women or guys with more power than you.

Like, yeah to me "beats" are just about the most twatty thing you can wear around your neck, but every pair I've listened to haven't sounded "bad". Just not NEARLY as good as any proper headphones you could get in that price range. They also have pretty retarded EQ curves on them (pic related) but honestly it's not as if the gimps who wear them use them for monitoring or listening to anything other than bass heavy pop music.

>the only way to get people thinking about these things is to educate them about those respective cultures
So, what you're saying, is that unless I know enough about a culture, it's bad if I do something that they've already done? Alright. I don't see the reasoning behind this, but. Carry on with that logic.

>If you had instead posted a series of photos portraying Bantu Curls in tradtional use, then posted this photo and pointed out the crass vanity of "fashionable references to ethnicity" people might be more receptive.
Why did you put "fashionable references to ethnicity" in quotations? Who are you quoting? You made literally no point here aside from "wow that's so vain, you should tell people about this"

>Hairstyles worn by vapid individuals have comparitively little impact on the wellbeing of the poorest people of this planet
I don't think people are obligated to donate their labor or money to a certain cultural group just because they were inspired by a hairstyle.

>considering "Coalition Forces" are currently bombing civilian structures in Syria and saying oops afterwards.
This has nothing to do with fashion

>also it's just not a very good hairstyle.
Word

As for OP
>I see Bantu curls and no accountability.
The amount of stuff that exists in western society that belongs to lesser known cultures is... well, a lot of stuff. Hell I could write a 10 page paper in under an hour on stuff that you never appreciate Italians for that you should be if you're gonna take part in stuff that Italians made. Herpderp so vapid

As for your hair homie, you got curly ass hair on a skinny frame, dont go long unless youre looking for that tween look. I woudl definitely cut it, get your sides shaved down to like a 2 or 3. Then got your top chopped, Id recommend leaving a little bit on top. Curly hair is cool, and its yours so you might as well rock some of it. Having the clean sides and the curly top will give you a look where you can be clean and fun at the same time.

Just chopped off my long hair and got a cut for the first time in a while.

Hello, I am not much a fashion person, but I need some help. I've been through a lot recently so all my clothes are ripped or stained, my socks have holes in them, my jeans are worn out under the crotch. Where do you buy new clothes?

I normally wear a nice dress shirt (usually blue), black jeans, a thick belt, and black boots with black socks. I keep my money and key in my left pocket and my cellphone in my right pocket. I sometimes keep a pen and paper in my breast pocket.

I'd like to get gusseted jeans because I heard they wear out less often, and get dress shirts that have a single breast pocket with a button. I like to have, like utility, because I do a shit ton of walking.

Thank you for any advice yo

My first post in nearly 5 years.

First things first, get rid of your old clothes, either through donation, trade, or trash get rid of it, never have socks with holes if you can manage it.

Secondly, youre going to have to figure out your lifestyle, knowing what you do and what you like is key to having a wardrobe as well as aiding you in not buying shit you won't ever wear.
It seems you know what you like, nice.
I'll help you figure out a small basic wardrobe AND ill give you a few stores/sites to browse.

Tops: Seems like youre into button ups and dressing simple, but havent switched over to the modern lifestyle. Look at Macys, Kohls, even Target for some simple button ups, linen is nice and breathable for these hot summers. Grab a white, black, and one of your favorite color or one that will match your outfit, usually a blue or a dark green. Youll also want to grab some PLAIN t-shirts for your wardrobe. Old Navy is a great place for basic clothing as long as it isn't branded with OLD NAVy across the whole fucking thing. Follow those same rules if you are on a budget. A few neutral colored clothes to help get your wardrobe started.

Bottoms: Denim, youre going to want to spend some good money here. Ive owned 4-5 pairs of denim the last 4 years, a pair of Raws and another pair just for the change. I own a pair of G-Stars, but I've also owned Hudson, Superdry, Levis, and Nudies. The Hudsons are the comfiest and softest of all denim but also ripped first. Raw or unselvaged denim is the best way to go if youre looking for longetivity and strength. You wash the pair only once every few months as well.

Shoes: Go simple, basic canvas tops are an easy go. Look for some Converse, Keds, or even Vans to get you into some cheap simple shoes that go with any outfit. Or if youre not into that boots like Red Wings or Wolverine 1000mile are good for walking in while still being able to hold up as well as any other boot.

Places to shop
ebay.com (No lie, type in what you want and someone is selling that shit, CHEAP)
asos.com
You can even shop G-Star clothing here http://www.amazon.com/G-Star/b?ie=UTF8&node=2593057011

Locally, I'd try your mall, Old Navy, Kohls, Macys, Nordstrom etc. not sure your budget.
