Restarting my wardrobe

Hello, I am not much a fashion person, but I need some help. I've been through a lot recently so all my clothes are ripped or stained, my socks have holes in them, my jeans are worn out under the crotch. Where do you buy new clothes?

I normally wear a nice dress shirt (usually blue), black jeans, a thick belt, and black boots with black socks. I keep my money and key in my left pocket and my cellphone in my right pocket. I sometimes keep a pen and paper in my breast pocket.

I'd like to get gusseted jeans because I heard they wear out less often, and get dress shirts that have a single breast pocket with a button. I like to have, like utility, because I do a shit ton of walking.

Thank you for any advice yo

My first post in nearly 5 years.

First things first, get rid of your old clothes, either through donation, trade, or trash get rid of it, never have socks with holes if you can manage it.

Secondly, youre going to have to figure out your lifestyle, knowing what you do and what you like is key to having a wardrobe as well as aiding you in not buying shit you won't ever wear.
It seems you know what you like, nice.
I'll help you figure out a small basic wardrobe AND ill give you a few stores/sites to browse.

Tops: Seems like youre into button ups and dressing simple, but havent switched over to the modern lifestyle. Look at Macys, Kohls, even Target for some simple button ups, linen is nice and breathable for these hot summers. Grab a white, black, and one of your favorite color or one that will match your outfit, usually a blue or a dark green. Youll also want to grab some PLAIN t-shirts for your wardrobe. Old Navy is a great place for basic clothing as long as it isn't branded with OLD NAVy across the whole fucking thing. Follow those same rules if you are on a budget. A few neutral colored clothes to help get your wardrobe started.

Bottoms: Denim, youre going to want to spend some good money here. Ive owned 4-5 pairs of denim the last 4 years, a pair of Raws and another pair just for the change. I own a pair of G-Stars, but I've also owned Hudson, Superdry, Levis, and Nudies. The Hudsons are the comfiest and softest of all denim but also ripped first. Raw or unselvaged denim is the best way to go if youre looking for longetivity and strength. You wash the pair only once every few months as well.

Shoes: Go simple, basic canvas tops are an easy go. Look for some Converse, Keds, or even Vans to get you into some cheap simple shoes that go with any outfit. Or if youre not into that boots like Red Wings or Wolverine 1000mile are good for walking in while still being able to hold up as well as any other boot.

Places to shop
ebay.com (No lie, type in what you want and someone is selling that shit, CHEAP)
asos.com
You can even shop G-Star clothing here http://www.amazon.com/G-Star/b?ie=UTF8&node=2593057011

Locally, I'd try your mall, Old Navy, Kohls, Macys, Nordstrom etc. not sure your budget.

Tattoo considerations

For starters, I'm petrified of needles being used on me. I'm a lab technician, so I use them all day and I'm fascinated, but have always avoided shots, etc whenever I could. 4-5 years ago I was dating a gent whose mom got diagnosed with Leukemia. It was summer vacation from university and he was alone in taking care of her and it was draining him emotionally. He asked if I'd spend part of a summer there as HIS support. I willingly went.

This wonderful woman, a Chilean aristocrats daughter, had a wonderful outlook on things, despite her predicament. She decided to spend what time she had left doing anything she could, including facing all her fears (bungee jumping, eating snails, and even petting deer at a zoo. She had an irrational fear of deer). I spent half my summer being inspired.
When I returned to school in the fall, I set out to conquer some of mine. Like swimming in a lake (terrified of deep water) and getting a tattoo. I picked something simple, a pawprint, since I was a shelter volunteer and regularly fostered dogs. I got through it fine obviously, it was painless, just irrational fear.

Years later I've decided its time to face it again, as it doesn't just go away. I'm getting it re-inked, however I want some sort of script around it kind of in a short hand way explaining why its there. I've thought over a few possibilites but none sound right. Marcella (the woman that inspired this) had a motto, "Face one of your fears a day, you'll live a longer life". I love it but it almost seems too long.

Any suggestions?
(Oh, yes, and she's just fine, btw. She went into remission.)

I figure this is probably a pretty common topic, but I don't come here often and don't feel like looking back. I guess link me to a recent thread if there is one.

Anyways, at some point in the future I plan to invest into some quality work boots. I work in a machine shop (manual and CNC lathes) and am on my feet all day but don't walk around all that much. Steel toes not required and I don't really want them.

Could you give me the rundown of all the usual top names in this area? Or just brands you like as well. Aesthetics aren't top priority (but always appreciated), but at the very least none of those dorky looking type of boots (http://www.walmart.com/ip/OZARK-TRAIL-MENS-MID-PROFILE-HIKING-SHOE/36070252). Decent ones tend to never look like that from what I've seen, fortunately.

Price isn't necessarily an issue because I'm brainstorming right now and am going to be considering them as an investment into my work, anyways.

---

Also, I have been eyeing some pairs of merino wool socks because apparently they're badass. Particularly these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product//B004M5UG4O/ (probably chocolate color--pick related--but was also looking at the brown). Quite pricey for one pair, but at least they have a life-time guarantee lol. Anyone have experience with this type of sock? Keeping in mind it is not just wool, but merino wool, which I guess is magical.

Polo blue is my signature scent. A little cliche but I'd be a damn liar if it wasn't a hit with my woman. After that I would say very sexy for men. When I was single I got a lot of compliments. I used to have a lucky brand cologne and though it wasn't expensive it also got compliments.

I'm looking for something more classy.

My hair is currently around 1/2 an inch or 15mm, grown back unevenly from a buzz cut. What can I do with my hair? I was thinking a really short crew cut/fade, cause I'm not sure what else I could do with it. The only thing is the front of my head isn't long enough for full coverage or much of a fade to my crown. I have court on Tuesday, and again in about 2 & 1/2 weeks, so there won't be any more options in the space of 2 weeks, and I need to get a haircut tomorrow.
Do you guys think this looks tidy/clean?

Has anyone had experience buying frames online, especially ones from China? I found a pair that I really like the look of, but I'm apprehensive about buying them partially because I need to get prescription lenses for them and partially because I can't even try them on. I tried to even look up the "brand" that is listed and I couldn't find anything. Pic related.

i did this a few years back, i had my reservations. not sure if chinese or not. pretty legit site. off brand glasses. prescription ordering was pretty straight forward.

i got em a few days later. bomb as shit. turned out to be better than any pair of glasses i bought from a store, ive had glasses for since i was 8, 25 now. and half the price. i went and bought 2 backup pairs and never looked back.

fuck those overpriced stores. and they were the only orange frames i could find anywhere, that werent gay as fuck.

I wear an iron needle roller bearing as a ring. Problem is since it's iron it rust and the rollers are starting to out. So I'd like to replacing it with either a steel one or something different entirely. Thoughts?
Pic related, they're needle roller bearings.

I dress really nicely sometimes and people (dudes) give me shit yell nasty stuff at me or give me condescending smiles and shit. I guess i could just sluff is off and say some shit like "guess they just jelly of a niggaz swag" but i dont think thats it. I think because i dress a certain way its alienating to some people and they think that im trying to hard to be cool because i look so fancy. When really everything i buy comes from old navy or goodwill an i get a kick out of putting the shit together to come up with somthing neet.

Anyways how to make people more conferrable around you while still being suave as fuck. An have you ever incounted this from eather side where someone passed some type of judgement positive or negitive, for the way you dressed or have you done it to anyone.

TBH OP, it might just be that they are fucking idiots. If you deviate from the normal spheres of I-am-straight-guy-who-isn't-weird dress codes, there will always be someone there to remind you and target you for it.

I've always worn stuff that stemmed from my interests and influences - skate/hiphop/heavymetal/urban culture type shit. This means hats, baggier clothing, sneakers, long hair etc. My look has worked to my favour and also against it - the same attributes imply different things to different people. Generally people think I dress in a cool way, I'll catch compliments from people pretty regularly and have heard stuff that seems to imply they think I look like a really chilled out guy etc. But at the same time I've had people try exclude me, insult me, spread rumours I am a heroin addict or a street thug and that I wish I was black. People can be stupid, it's not a big deal.

No. I gotta agree with Emma Blesslestug, don't do shit to impress other people. That just makes you seem like a dweeb. If you think you look better with a beard, than let that be the motivation for growing one. There was a point in high school when I felt that growing a beard would impress woman, but I realized later on that I look a lot better with no facial hair.
