She was demonstrating the technique. Did she ever say "DO THIS WITH NEW HOODIES?" Nope. It's called upcycling because you take something that is old or out of fashion or that you don't wear any more and change it so that it is more on trend, more in line with your current style or taste, or just different and fun.
