Purses Became Backpacks?

Well, I am a male who is totally clueless to fashion trends and the like, but it seems most females from teens up to even 30's and 40's are now sporting some sort of leather backpack rather than a purse. I mean it makes sense from a functionality point of view but it seems like this was a quick and widespread change, is it simply in my region? Has anyone else observed anything like this?

Purses have a utilitarian value, think about all the time you go out without a backpack, and suddenly you don't have a pen, your phone charger, or a bottle of water. Ladies always having a purse on them means that they have their lipstick, keys, and a lighter in one place at all times.

Very good analysis of the purse, not sure if you actually comprehended the topic of the thread though, which is that backpacks seem to be replacing purses for the very functions you described, although this may be my anecdotal experience rather than a widespread trend.

Yes, I know what you're talking about OP. Those weird-ass little leather knapsack backpack fagtrap things. IDK why it happened but it's lame. It may help older women feel like they're putting out a youthful vibe but in my eyes it makes the person look like they're a travelling hermit with very few possessions.

All I ever see them with are these useless overpriced pieces of shit.

They want like 90 bucks for this kindergarten sized thing, it's the bare minimum of backpack functions and there's nothing visually pleasing about it. Might as well just get one of those soviet backpacks and save yourself 70 bucks.

The soviets, though unable to create an effective form of government, did manage to create effective guns...and slightly less effective backpacks

they're more convenient and you can put more stuff including a laptop, tablet, charger whatever in addition to the makeup, wallet, etc. you normally put in a purse, but i still see a lot of people with purses, but never a person with a purse AND a backpack, that would be doing the most

How big is that bag and how bag are Kanken bags in general?

I was thinking of getting one myself but I'm worried about it being too god damn big.

That Soviet bag is about as big as a medium potato bag. Also you have to knot the armslings around the opening to carry it. It's a trick knot but you can't put it on quickly if you just opened it.
Pretty cheap though https://www.amazon.com/Soviet-Backpack-Sidor-rucksack-knapsack/dp/B00RD8XS56/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=veshmeshok+backpack&qid=1579554881&sr=8-1
The kanken bags are really small, I'd guess a bigger laptop wouldn't fit inside. The girl in that pic is really petite. It's literally something a kindergarten kid would wear.

Interesting. I saw some at Barnes & Nobles and it looked larger than the mini travel backpack that I’m using now. Which I got from Target for around the same price. The striking factor about the Kanken bags were how boxy they looked.
