Wanna purify H.

Am I going to get watched (even moreso) if I order chloroform?

Why chloroform? Order dcm instead

If you have to get chloroform you might want to synthesize it yourself since it is used to purify (street?) heroin and not to analyze samples etc. The synthesis is easy but purification of the product might be challenging without proper equipment (distillation glassware).

I am not familiar with soxhlet but I believe the principle is the same. Probably yes.

Ok but like:
In a distiller, you're boiling something, in order to extract those vapors which you save and leave the unboiled stuff behind.

So what's the difference?

Soxhlets are for extraction from a solid matrix by continous washing with freshly distilled solvent.

You could indeed use it for distilling solvents but you better watch out unless you want all the solvent to dump right back into your reaction mixture
Did you ever see a soxhlet?

With a soxhlet, you're extracting soluble solids. Not the vapors.

Perhaps as a reflux, but you'd still need standard distillation equipment. And of course a normal reflux condensor would do a better job (and be cheaper/more widely available)

Not true, if you wash the soxhlet before using it (and i mean really wash it), you can use it as a distillation apparatus if you pour out the solvent before it reaches the siphon tube.

It's ghetto as fuck but can work to save you $150 on a distillation condenser and adapter.

Probably just use DCM then, but the guides I were reading didn't mention it. Will just update whenever I attempt.

Haha. Hadn't thought of that.
