I have never seen one fail. They are kind of universal. USB ports and all.
3.0, they are not going away and I do not see much replacing these.

The connections I have never seen fail.

Power supplies for laptops, the connections I have seen fail quite a lot.

I do agree about the USB B thing though. It was standard as the device connector for AGES.

Then we started having devices too thin to put them on, and that shit gave way to USB-A to USB-A cables.

Also despite USB-B 3.x being by FAR the sturdiest connector I haven't seen it on a goddamn thing.

USB-C is a pretty necessary thing though, because micro USB-B 3.1 was UTTER DOGSHIT.

Skype - Away when inactive

I always thought it worked as such: if you don't touch the keyboard or mouse after X minutes then you'll be seen as Away, period.

Someone else who owns a Mac (I don't know shit about them) tells me that 3rd party programs can keep both their Mac and Skype 'awake'. He actually got more specific, implying that if he were to receive Facebook messages for example, it would probably reset the timer and even pull him out of the 'Away' status on Skype making him appear as 'Online' again.

tl;dr Can things like receiving Facebook messages keep both your Mac awake and keep your Skype status online, even if you're not interacting with it?

PS: Yes, I'm trying to find if somebody's bullshitting and ignoring my ass.

Thanks!

this probably exists in some form, but I'm unaware of it as I'm just getting into virtualization for real. i'm running a few different VMs on a windows host as well as using windows as my daily driver at the moment. I was wondering if there was a program that would start up before any other processes and function sort of like a bootloader wherein I could have an interactive menu and select from different options that would automatically start a routine to go seamlessly into a virtual environment or steam big picture or retroarch or whatever

I'm using windows as the host because my current hardware really doesn't play very well with *nix (and i need my gaymes), but I don't prefer to use windows and I think it would be neat and better for my workflow if I could just basically treat it as a multiboot set up

so back in the day for network security testing reasons people would use LOIC or low orbit ion cannon, i'm sure you remember. long story short the last updated version on sourcefourge is 2014 (really dating myself here) what are people using currently? LOIC is fine for me i just dont know if there's an accepted upgrade. thanks in advance (did stimlion die?)

Kind of? the real way it was actually used effectively was a bunch of people all using it at once in a raid. Even back then just one person you probably couldn't do shit with it unless it was some dudes home server. It's completely deprecated these days because the scale you need to make a dent in modern DDoS protection software you need a more of a sophisticated system that makes more concurrent requests.

Not asking what you are looking for. There are text servers, binary and text servers.
They are usually all connected where if you post something it's already reached
thousands of servers in moments. It's nothing really 'exclusive' by any means.

You can look at newsgroups lists if you have any interests. There is really no indexers,
unless you count retention time of any given server.
