TLDR: any surface 3 hard drive solutions if too tiny.

Has anyone tried an external on the surface 3?
LAPTOP, not the tablet.

because I have some complaints about the size of the hard drive as it's not the default TB that you'll find to be most common on systems nowadays.
like its the default size.

only one game from the steam store can be installed on it before you pretty much run out of space.

and i thought about an external but im not sure if you can install and boot up an .exe from it ? Like steam? while the OS runs on the machines HD?

or would I need to boot up windows from the new hard drive and that would NOW be my new hard drive if i decide to go that route?

I think standard is still 500GB spinning disks but that's only for bottom of the barrel laptops. That laptop has an M.2 drive that you can upgrade.

500GB is pretty standard for SSDs.

It's usually the lowest capacity that's actually fully populated and doesn't suffer a speed penalty, plus it's plenty big to go with a hard drive, and who isn't using external hard drives in general these days?

1TB is pretty standard for an SSD if you want to be self-sufficient, but anything with an internal hard drive these days should be 2TB or more, because what's even the point otherwise?

So I'm wanting to download a MAME rom set. It's 50gb. Will my ISP see that I'm downloading such a HUGE file and catch me?

Thanks.

My opinion is mostly if you are sharing files, whatever they may be. At the highest speeds, whether one knows they are sactually uploading files or not. Especially 24/7, if one knowcks upload speeds down to day 2, 3 kbs. The stopps the upload as soon as they match the I don't think they would not bother messing with people much.

Say one group, has say three download servers that downloaded a new movie
is say 20 minutes, then another group of servers of the same corporation download the samemovies = others of the same media company, then in a few days later then I think they would be more interested in those, rather than a turtle slow 3 kbs upload that would take as many days to finish a download.

As in if one constantly shares movies, media at fast speeds then they are essentially giving away at least parts of media to maybe hundreds of people every ten minutes or whatever.

I am pretty computer illiterate but bought myself a nice computer lol. Love it but trying to figure out how to customize my rgb. I have an MSI b450 motherboard so I downloaded dragon center off their website and it turned the rgb off on my ram, and I cant get it back on.. and the options and interface just suck for customization..do third party programs exist for this or are you stuck with the program from your motherboard?

Fixed it by starting it manually and then activating "on idle" again.

This shit is kinda, ney very fucking serious. I went to the grocery store. A few had some protection. I imagined myself offering people basic dust masks, which should be sufficient. Yet my supply was discarded through the years. If we had notice. I would have a least a hundred to pass out in a day, like nothing.

We do not understand this, we are too afraid to hide our faces. Our future depends on out immediate actions to ourselves and others.

But now is the time. Snuffle up to face masks. They are our best friends in the worst of times.

As for the OP, I know it is real. But sparing cycles means one is actively allowing their computers to
access others computers, whille allowing access to their computers.

Downloading a client is not necessary, unless, one is actively allowing their computers to
access others computers, while allowing access to their computers.

I imagine this may be question that springs up often but do people have recommendations for best VPN providers?

It doesn't necessarily have to be free, it's something I'm willing to invest in. I work at a mid-tier law firm in DC and it's something I could probably even get my employer to pay for somewhere down the line

So, let's assume cost is not an issue, which would you say is the best? Which do yall personally use and why?

A friend of mine who works in Cybersecurity said back in October he personally used Private Internet Access for his home and phone, but I looked into them and saw their parent company was just recently in November acquired by Kape Technologies which is based in Israel and has had some mildly shady dealings in the past so I'm a little hesitant to place my faith in it.

I have used nord vpn and it seems they are very capable to accomplish this. If you like you can use it
for a while and cancel it within 30 days money back just as easily as asking them to do so. They may ask why?

To see if they can get you through whatever it is you are wanting to accomplish I assume. Their chat is
fairly competent.

I have not had a server not accomplish what I wanted, netflix can be a bit more tricky but I think they
have that pretty much together. They did seem to leak dns issues on my end, but an encrypted dns scheme always fixed that, rarely having to restart the app or actually needing tech support, or doing whatever.

They state their services are supported by ads. They can install unwanted programs if you click yes.
They can monitor your traffic, if they say they do not, you have to either trust that or not.
Encryption, some are lacking high encryption standards. It is free after all. You can
check their encryption levels methods one would assume. You can run wireshark or like
applications and see what is going on with your connections with the service.

There are free services that have been found to not be even using encryption or partially
encrypting the service. Paid for services even.

Mullvad seems to do things pretty straightforward. Which I think is good. But is kinda pricey, no phone apps last I saw, which you would have to setup vpn yourself. But, I would choose them from all the hours I have spent looking at different services. Surf shark I think they really offer a basic service that is
straight forward. I have seen a coupe of things that were a bit off for a
short time but in a few months, all seems together. CyberGhost PIA and another I believe is owned by a company that used to 'specialize' in unwanted adware
type programs that people didn't 'specifically agree' to get. Which made a lot of people kinda angry. PIA is hosted in the US? It works correctly. From what I see.

I made a facebook after making a tinder because foreveralone and all that. Apparently not having a facebook is a "red flag" nowadays. I made one, and didn't help any with dating. Oh well.

I also went to trade school I'm a dumb enough faggot to buy into, "The Trades are always hiring, JOB SHORTAGE! JOB SHORTAGE! DO A TRADE!" meme and after months of searching, I found a job at one place. I accepted the job over the phone without an interview for 15 dollar an hour. Which where I live is peanuts. And then I show up on day one and get told I'm getting 10 dollar an hour and working 7 days a week with no overtime ever and a schedule of 70 hours weekly with no benefits or anything. I get my first paycheck and it is 50 dollars short and also on a check. I have at least enough sense to be like, yo, taxes mayne. And I get told to pay all my own taxes on a 1099 form. I worked there a few months and realized just how fuckin retarded I was for not going to real college and getting into debt for the biggest bullshit job ever that nobody hires for anymore. And that basically I got played by an internet meme.

>Then I did the smart thing and said fuck this, I'll be swimming in debt forever and making like 8 dollars an hour after taxes while living in my truck and quit. Then I sold my truck, took the money and gave it to Truck Driving school, got a job lined up before I even had my CDL with a recruiter and now I'm still poor as fuck, living on the road without a home to go to, but at least I'm making money now.

Just an anecdote I'd figure I'd through out there.

>Here is one, type %appdata% a folder will appear. click it. You can delete the folder(s)

If you uninstall a program, then reinstall it, all the data, settings ect, will be there in your new install. Some programs when you uninstall it will not remove registry settings and saved application data. So when you reinstall, you wonder, why is this still here.

I guess one application comes t o mind, would be torrent settings. Where you set up your settings your default saved location is the same as what you changed the default to.

If you google "how to completely remove" "how to completely uninstall" you will see
other people asking the same question. Some sites will offer downloads to completely remove programs that are not necessary to use 'their' uninstaller. Simply removing the folder you find searching %appdata% should mostly remove all unwanted configurations.

Running a registry cleaner, linke under ccleaner 'should' take care of registry items that
are no longer attached to the program.

There are some programs that do stay in the registry and one may want to use a program to completely remove leftovers from an uninstall. These are ones that may make your computer not boot, boot slowly, blue screen possibly. I guess when your computer boots up, it scans the registry in windows before the computer is completely booted.

You can type regedit in your search and there is your registry. There you can screw things up, or do about anything you like. When you install most programs it will add a registry entry, maybe change others. It's much like doing about:config in firefox.

Question about notepad++ double click behavior between certain characters

File: 1585496403710.jpg -(264407B / 258.21KB, 853x480) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size. Question about notepad++ double click behavior between certain characters
Hello there, greetings. I have a question about the double click behavior on a program called notepad++. Specifically, I have noticed that certain symbols will stop the double click selection.

For example, take this string of text.

wordsandtext-notepad-morestuff

If I were to double click the word 'notepad' in the following string of text, the selection of text would stop at both of the dash '-' characters. Both before and after the word 'notepad'.

My question therefore, is there anyway to modify which characters notepad++ respects as stopping points for a double click selection? If at all possible, I would like to remove all such respect for any characters, so that I can select an entire line of text with a double click.

I exhaustively looked through all of the available options within notepad++, but could not find anything that looked relevant. I am hoping someone more knowledgeable and experienced, either with notepad++ or computing in general, can be of assistance.

Thanks guys for reading my message and for any help offered.

I'm not sure if you can change the default behavior for what double click respects as a "word delimiter," but if you're trying to select an entire line then triple click already does that

Yes, you can safely mix and match memory sticks in pretty much all DDR<insert number> systems.

If frequency and timing differ, the controller will usually adjust for slowest clock and loosest memory timing... some fiddling with clock speed and timings may be needed.
If the board doesn't cooperate right off the bat, load the default BIOS settings or reset the BIOS, insert the new RAM and adjust the best you can.

Though, note that you may be prevented from using any XMP profiles baked into the RAM SPDs... they only usually work correctly if the profiles are similar enough.

Since last week for some unholy reason I have been having problems accessing ipv4 only websites with only being able to access sites like google, facebook and surprisingly 420chan which all support ipv6 by default. I ran traceroute on both ipv4 and ipv6 and was able to determine with 100% confidence that something is blocking my access to ipv4 addresses. This issue only happens intermittently meaning it's not all the time. The question is, is this a router/modem issue or could the ISP be doing this?

modem/router? I would call tech support, they can test your connection from their side of town.
Possibly the modem/router is fried. This is good if you have had it for a few years. You would
have tech support come out and see if the issue is inside your house/apt, or outside.

If the modem/router is fried and especially is a few years old, you would likeley get a comparable modem/router,
which could be the same as you have, but likely they will have discontinued that model, so you could get a comparable
one or an upgrade. Either way it would be an upgrade. Unless they try slip you the same model. If past issues with the modem/router model have been intermittent do make that known. The likelihood they will upgrade will be far better.

There are a lot of things you can try to isolate or fix this issue, but tech support sounds like the easiest route. Do this asap. You can get somebody there by monday, tues.

Otherwise, it could somehow be a windows? Issue, somehow not working resolving dns from your isp. I cannot really think of anything much other than dns not resolving. Whether it is configuration issue or hardware.

May be modem or router, also may be due to the internet companies and the repeal of Net Neutrality back in 2017. ISP's with monopolies have small towners by the balls with that, they're not the best people to talk with either. ISP's have also blocked me sometimes. Call them and tell them if they keep blocking your usage, you will change services. This has been a repeated tactic you are going to have to use because of the repeal of net neutrality. It's sucked ever since and I hope they bring it back that way we don't have to fuck ourselves out of more cash just for these fucking buisnesses.

Yeah but I mean, if an executable errors out, the .exe should actually be on my drive, right? So if it doesn't exist, wouldn't that point to it being something malicious covering up any traces of itself?
I have yet to hear about system software that self-destructs.

It's the only time I've seen it, but I have seen traces of other bullshit in registry earlier too though, just been putting off installing another system since I just use this machine for unimportant non-sensitive stuff. Porn and games essentially.
I've fucked about with linux and stuff before, I am computer literate.
>>122817
The error isn't the actual problem, other software have crashed with the same error before, think it's this version of windows that doesn't like my hardware (won't even let me open my disc drive by the button, need to press eject through software, and other similar stuff, and I know it's not the actual HW since linux handled it all just fine).
It's the program hiding itself that makes me highly suspicious.

I am sure it's on your computer and can be found. Just because it is an .exe doesn't mean it will be easily found like notepad. In firefox folder there are .exe files like maintenanceservice.exe which would not show up with a simple search. If you were to search 'for all' .exes,,, if would likely show up, among a lot of files with the same .exe extension. I don't know how to do it. Just as the system hides file extensions by default, it will not offer all
.exes because many are just part of processes. This is more techy-like stuff.

You can see windows system executable with Get-ChildItem -Filter "*.exe" -Recurse from a command prompt, poweshell is best for command line.
You can list all .exe files and find their paths in windows.

There are programs that will find all files according to their extensions and paths.
Time taking process.
I would just save all of your files you want to keep to a usb or whatever
and install windows new. If you have and older system you can likely
go to 10 easy enough. Sounds like you system would like a new install.
