My roommate, a computer-savvy fellow, turned his computer on today only to find this shit installed, with a Firefox Add-on too. It doesn't appear to be a virus, but we're both baffled at how this got there. He hasn't installed anything in years, so it can't be from a missed bundled installed or something.

Internet searches yielded nothing, so I come to you /tech/. Any idea how this shit got on his computer?

>My roommate says I should go with Razer

Punch him in the dick for me.

Logitech or Corsair or something. Razer build quality is atrocious. They're built 100% to feel the most impressive at first. At this very moment, my Razer mouse is crashing like a motherfucker while my Logitech is trucking onward endlessly.

Also the lower the voltage your mouse runs at, the more it's out of spec with the Omron switches they put in them, and the more likely your mouse is going to develop bouncing and double clicks.

A wired mouse running at 5 volts is not running far out of spec. A wireless one running at 3.3v is running WELL out of spec and may run into issues where it can't even reliably cut through the normal wear and tear and corrosion to hit its rated number of clicks.

The kicker is that even the wired mice might still be running 3.3v controller chips in them so we're just fucked.

Replace them with Japanese Omrons if your mouse buttons break. They're a completely different switch with lower voltage rating from the normal Omrons and clones.

Ripped video file that won't play?

So I'm trying to rip episodes of The Last Drive-In off Shudder since with volatile digital rights agreements these shows will be gone forever at some point (probably within a year of airing) so I'm trying to rip the episodes to save and it seems like it ripped the video file correctly based on the file size, the length, dimensions, bitrate, and framerate, but I've tried the file in VLC, MPC-HC, and PotPlayer and the seeker will move like it's playing but it just shows blank video and no audio plays.

Any ideas how to repair the file so that it plays?

How to rip directly from a stream is almost always a closely guarded secret. If a commercial video platform knew how people were doing it, they would break the method. Your best bet is either capturing the video or looking for a forum where you can make scene requests.

The damndest thing is that both Jaksta and Video Download Helper both grab like a 1GB mp4 file with what seems to be the correct video dimensions and running time, but it just doesn't play any video or audio like it was running on some weird codec. I was hoping this was something I could repair through handbrake or whatever but I guess not.

Oh well, I guess I'll just hope someone else figured this out and just download the series in the future once it's been removed so I have a digital backup. I guess I could ghetto screen record it but the file size would likely come out to like 5 gigs or some retarded shit.

How do I clean this?
My ducting system is totally clogged with resin, probably have to replace that.
GPU overheated and fried (see clogged ducting system)
Ram probably has to be thrown out, you can see the resin on it

Motherboard seems fine but probably has resin is there a safe way to clean resin off my motherboard?

Covert smoking in public or otherwise. I never really liked to get high with other people except for the few associates. Get high in romt of people and they never noticed.Except for putting hash in a gig, as an experement to how much to gethigh and with a filter, it worked empigh, but dude kept saying loudly, somebody's smoking pot. As the smoke streamed off the hash chunks.

I bought a Galaxy Tab A off craigslist. It all worked well until I decided to root it. Now i'm locked out by the factory reset system and the guy who sold it to me has yet to respond.
If anyone knows what software I need to bypass this system that would be greatly appreciated. I have already tried flashing a new ROM onto it, but even that's blocked by the FRP.

>inb4 any moral lectures
I purchased this tablet legitimately. I have no idea what it's history before that is, and that's not my problem. I paid $100 for this shit and i want it to work.

MP4 should be fine. I would stop download. See if mp4 works correctly using your favorite media software. Use c cleaner to maybe remove excess clutter. Too many temp files. reset modem/router, reboot computer and try again. Do right click on computer (properties) and see if you have enough free space. Sometimes not enough free space will cause files from uploading. Do this before and after using cleaner just for reference. Possible, the upload site will not allow a file if it is too big? And just kind stay there. Maybe not the file size and their max upload size, and if they accept mp4 files.

I need a PADD I mean tablet

Short version: I need a tablet or notepad that is cheap and not shit and I can use instead of a notebook + printer + computer combo.

Essential
>Cheap but not cheap piece of shit
>good battery life
>will let me view and edit documents with a reasonably decent interface and not awful responsiveness
>no proprietary bullshit like non standard USB cables.
>can get it in the post brexit wasteland
>will get a good few years out of it before it grinds to a halt

Preferable
>can handle having a couple of documents open or even PDFs
>decent build quality

>Also could use recommendations for a bluetooth keyboard I guess because I have a feeling the editing documents will need that.

Long version for context.

A while ago I started a D&D campaign with friends, after I wrote my first adventure I realised my handwriting was garbage and also I actually can't write for long periods of time without an old injury causing me grief. I started writing my adventures on word and printing them out and it works better. However the printer is shit, it drinks ink, loading it is a pain in the arse and frequently it jams and I still have to take notes and update them or something if I want a record of what people did. I have a game on saturday and the ink will probably be enough for that but by my next session I'd like to have ditched the printer.

So I want a tablet I can use as a notebook, keep my adventure notes, write down results, maybe keep a few quick reference stat blocks to reduce page turning mid combat. A phone won't cut it but I don't think I need a really nice tablet or notepad, just something that's not a cheap piece of shit.

Where did you get the idea I am replacing a laptop or creating content with my notepad? I want something that will basically allow me to store and edit notes and sync them in something about the same size as a notepad. I am not a power user, I was just hoping I could find some more discerning help than the usual mix of paid shills and barely computer literate "I can sort of operate facebook" level users that populate the majority of sources of information on the quality of these devices.

Anyway my printer was reporting low but not depleted ink and then very suddenly it had none, I did not expect that I needed something today for my game. I thought given my price range, I'd be better off picking up a less than perfect deal than forking out money for a print cartridge, being angry at how poorly designed my printer is for another 4 months then having it spend slightly less for a slightly better device. I expected to have a couple of weeks to sort this out when I posted it and not 2 days.

I got something for £150 and it does what I want. It can read and edit documents. I think when I've gotten used to it the process will be much easier and more reliable than printing shit then updating a master record later (it's good to know all the things my party does, they're getting to the stage where they can cause geopolitical scale upsets in their own world), as I can just update shit on the fly and replace the old files entirely.

Well then if you get the one from the aliexpress link I've posted the tablet & keyboard combo should be squarely in that range if you wait for the sale. If editing documents really is a requirement and cheap is a requirement that's what I would get.

I don't know much about bluetooth but logitech has been around for a long time for wirelesss usb devices that are often all compatible, mouse keyboard, etc, and many can work with backwards compatibility if the same name.
https://www.logitech.com/en-ca/product/multi-device-keyboard-k480.
I have different years of mice and keyboards that all work on the same usb.

Possibly the best game in town., Should work with smart tvs or whatever.

Basically, is 5G technology going to bring a true end to limited unlimited data rates and throttling horseshit? Will it finally be like wired internet where you have realistically, "unlimited" internet? Canadians not withstanding.

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. One could I guess tether to their smart phone,
after a certain amount of data is passed it will be throttled. Unlimited data,
speeds, doesn't mean is going to happen. Gotta pay, $$ for.

Other countries are required to give people real fast internet. Building codes
require new construction to have high kick speed internet. Right wingers
fight against this, while even third world countries get fast internet by default.

First: 5G is NOT a replacement for 4G, at least not the exciting part.
"5G" that you can be used on your phone using the existing infrastructure is essentially 4G technology.

The exciting part is ulta-high frequency radio, also called millimeter waves.
They are frequencies between 24-86ghz and their wavelength is as the name suggests ridiculously small.
This high frequency enables the massive bandwidths (essentially like fiber along with it's low latency).

The problem is two-fold:
  1. Absorption through the air becomes significant requiring the client and station to be very close together.
  2. It absolutely has to be line-of-sight, windows, tree leaves and even your fingers completely bock millimeter waves.

So this leaves it as a replacement for traditional broadband ala cable, dsl or fiber.
This would work by having a repeater on your window that receives 5G on the outside and wifi/5G/ethernet on the inside. Links would be semi directional. This is potentially cheaper than fiber and almost as good.

To actually use 5G mm wave in mobile you'd need something like a station in every other streetlight fixture. Your mobile device (no it won't be a phone, no matter what you don't need several gigabits on your handheld device).
But lets say 20 years from now augmented reality finally takes of.
You would have some sort of hat that is plastered with solid state transceiver arrays and lidar chips. The device would use beam-forming to connect to the nearest peers and stream gigabytes of point-cloud data back and forth.

one may want to learn encrypted dns, isps will keep logs of every site people visit, in the us for like 3 years. that is the initial fail, change your internet provider if you like.

It is kinda complicated, one can find a decent vpn, just research. I knew a hacker type, and that is preffered. tor browser works, ok I guess.

Also you might be better off getting just big enough microSD and grabbing either a larger USB stick or just SATA to USB and throw a spare old drive at it. Based on that I read just the other day that some peeps had better results doing PS1 emulation from a stick rather than the system card. Just a guess, but seems like it could be the same with video.
If going by the drive method you could have more stuff on there at once too, could get a used 500GB drive for the same price as a 64GB SD.

If you'd read more than the title you'd know this was for an rpi, you can't add more RAM. And the port for the SD card is already the bottle neck for a single higher speed SD, adding more won't speed anything up.

here is how internet can work, windows may connect to whatever connection that has a good signal. It is up to users to keep stuff correct. Likely nobody was 'intending' to grab your internet. I found for a while I was using somebody's
internet. A few adjustments fixed that.
