Here's what I need: A way of building a bunch of super small mechanisms with limited resources I can buy at the local hardware store and no real machining tools other than a dremel.
I enjoyed making an alcohol stove with no power tools using Tetkoba's videos on Youtube. I want to do more stuff like that.
If anyone has ideas about what to build and how to build it (mainly plans for the mechanisms), that would be super duper!

for a mesh network you need a lot of users or large coverage. HAM packet radio has large coverage, but only slow connection. some fancy shooting up satellites, also large coverage and slow, taking years for research of course.
for home router usage there is b.a.t.m.a.n., a protocol for wireless meshing in actual use.
p2p and freenode have (had?) the same aspiration as OP, don't think they took of.
i find academic projects for the solely educational purposes that are not actually usable hardly motivating and ideas already cheaply implemented a waste of time.

any other ideas?

Hey guys and gals. I'm looking for something mechanical that expands and contracts lengthwise. Something like a baton or lightsaber. Only it has to be really tiny, like a pencil. But also have a fine resolution on how long/short it is. Does such a device exist??

Look into University of Delaware for Electrical Engineering. I'm currently going there for Mechanical Engineering and it is a great school.

Move to moxxy/yakima washington. There's a tech school there called Perry technical institute. I believe it's about $30 grand for a 2 year program from electrician. They have a 100% employment rate too. There's a few hours of classroom time every day, followed by like 5 with hands on training. It's pretty much a full time job. The cost of living in Yakima/Moxxee is easily manageable though. I have a cousin who just got done with his program and had several job offers into good companies. The school even helps you build your resume, and they make it a point of setting you up with an awesome job, as it reflects back on their service. It would be a big life change, but I can definitely tell you that if you have time and money, it is by far one of the best places to educate you properly and set you up with an awesome career with room to move up.

Whats the difference between a BSMET and a BSME? My local tech uni claims that their MET grads are 'engineers' but from what Ive read MET's are considered 'technologists'

He didn't specify which power pin the negative voltage is connected to. Even though the negative voltage is on top, we have to assume that it's connected to the negative supply pin, and positive to positive. For some reason he has the output of the 1st op amp tied to the negative supply on the left, so that op amp will get fried, but let's just say in a perfect world the power supplies have zero source impedance and can source an infinite amount of current. The input to the second op amp would be -15V, and it has a gain of -2, so the output is railed at 15V (minus a diode drop here or there, I forget).

I would be very grateful if anyone with any knowledge of audio engineering could give me a hand here. Even basic electronic descriptions would be great.
Could someone please explain to me the purpose of Capacitors, Resistors, and other components within a mixing console?
I understand there's a total "we wont do your homework for you" and that's fine, but I'm struggling to find a description of what these components actually do when in the context of an analogue recording desk.

Filters are also used in D-Class amps, where a signal is converted to a digital pwm signal. the digital is converted back to analogue at a different voltage using a low pass of some kind.
filters dont need to be LRC circcuits, opamps do it as well or better, with a steeper frequency response and less phase shift. just fyi

Do you really think you're going to learn four years of EE in an image board post?
Granted you only really need to learn basic circuits, electronics, and signals, but if you're not willing to put in the time, you're never going to really understand what's going on.

So heres the situation:

I want to grow weed. Suprise. The system need to be extremely stealth because i got lot of neighbors and friends hanging around my apartment.

>no sound
>no smell
>no light leaks
>small size
>energy efficient

Ok so computer case is my best option. I can do activated carbon filter myself but lights are the main reason why im here. I dont know how to make my own LED-panel. Commercial lights are too big, wrong shape and they have build-in cooler which makes them noisy.

So heres the deal:

Can someone tell me how to make my own panel? Simple as possible. Blueprints and stuff you know.

Because setup is going to be in computer case and need to be noise free, watts need to be low as possible to keep heat down. Heat sink and small computer cooling fan need to be enough for the whole system.

What are the best way to go with this kind of setup? Few powerfull quality leds?

It would be cool also if you tell me some good shops in europe where i can get all what i need. Shoplist with links would be real great.

And btw Lowryder is the strain i got.

the peaks are a the bounds of that interval, the interval is depending on the plant though. anyway, with the peak of the led somewhere in the middle shouldnt that be suboptimal? also, chlorophyl a is found in bigger amounts, afaict from wikipedia.
that pic shows plants can take a lot of bandwidth between red and green, here's another one. it alludes me, that little red and blue should be enough. some have linked raisin production quality to lighy quality.

for electrical egineering, what was the engineering part, did you design the psu? did you work with a biologist?

everyone does build led panels these days. doing it cheap and well is the hard part. needs a degree just for the cost analysis

We tried to aim for within the peaks of chrlophyll a and b. Other wavelengths do affect the plant and all the mechanisms are not understood. I read a study from Sweden for example where green light affected the taste of herbs even though it should just bounce off when you think of it.
Illumination engineering here is a subset of electrical engineering. Designing street lighting, office lighting, plant lighting and everything involved with lighting basically.
We didn't work with any biologists but there are guys at the university who are researchers in plant lighting so they gave us some material and helped us out. For example this guy, a Ph.D. in EE who did it about plant lighting with LED. http://lightinglab.fi/personnel/ppinho.html

Hey look at these headphone wires. I stripped the big black wire. Then I get these 3 wires. But look CLOSELY! See the fuzzy white stuff? It's like a wire inside the wire. Do I need to strip 1 more time? What is that white stuff?

Not pro tips:

Burn the white nylon with a lighter.

THe wires have non-conductive enamel on them. Untwist the wire, and but the enamel off. You need to blow it out quickly, or else you'll make the wire brittle.

Headphone wires are shit to solder. Use a small bit of copper wire as a scaffold.

Stereo is kinda pointless. Your shitty soldering job will hurt the quality of the sound anyway, so just wire it to be mono. I guess for games and movies you want stereo, but for music mono's fine.

Greetings engineers, I really want to vape my DMT through a pen but could not find a kit that would reach low enough temperatures(140-178F). Most vape pens burn in the 400F range and would burn DMT. However I did find a 3-6 volt adjustable battery and 4.5 ohm atomizer. Do you think that is enough resistance to safely reach the desired vaporizing temperatures?

Okay, so apparently .065W is the "wall" of the spring (the diameter of the metal itself), 270L is the type of metal, MW is "machine wound", and I can only assume .62M is the spring's total diameter.

I'm going to study either one of these next year. I've had a bit of experience in programming chips and also I've made hobby electrical shit.
Right now I want to get on top of the maths. I've heard that computer engineering uses a lot of linear algebra. I've tried looking it up on Khan Academy but I'm not sure what I should be looking for there. All the linear stuff looks like grade 8 stuff. Can anyone give me some resources on what I should be studying?
Also, an idea on what kind of math I should be studying for EE would be great.
