On the contrary, in LARP there are plenty of people (or dragged-along spouses) who take up the healer role to either A) actually do shit without needing a foam weapon or B) feel important as everyone who learns of their skills flocks to them like hungry pigeons to stale bread.

But potions? Too complicated for the organisers/GMs to keep track off for common use so they're put behind a wall of tasks you have to do and impossibly hard to find/get ingredients.

That said, there are a thousand reasons why I fucking loathe LARP and that's one of them.

It's pretty much an insta-concede from me, might as well not play if you're going to be an asshole about it.

Saw a couple of people play it and saw plenty of reviews. Seems pretty fun and faithful to the games but not worth the current price unless of course you love DS and the way this game translates them.

The one thing the boardgame lacks is the epic and grand feel of the overall world. It's like playing a stand-alone area of the video games.

I saw this and decided to try it as well.

I'm creating a homebrew universe for my D&D campaigns. Ask me anything you can think if and I'll give you the answer. If you want to read more about the world before you ask, I'll make some broad points below.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
This universe is being built of a very grand scale. Even I don't have everything locked down yet, but I've got a decent foothold.
There are several planets, and the players will have access to a starship that they will wake up on. After they are woken up, they will quickly realize the ship is failing and they have to fix it. Once they fix the ship, it will be revealed that there is a space station a few light years away(the ship is capable of warp, which I can explain if you'd like. It's not based in real science, but I'm open to suggestions 😊
There are a few star systems that they can choose to go to at first, provided they become able, and each of those will have several worlds. I have a main storyline planned out, but I can't go too much into detail openly as I have players who might be reading this. No spoilers 😉
There will be an earth like world that shares similar history and is a slightly futuristic world by our real world standards, but with many of the races of the d&d world. Sharing the same solar system is a traditional d&d like world with much the same history as cannon forgotten realms stories, with some additions and changes. There are many other worlds as well, but I'm sure those will come up if you're curious.
I've added some elements to the universe, such as a crystalized form of the Weave known as Arcanyte, a sickness brought on by too much exposure to high levels of magic much like radiation, and a last ditch casting method called Soul-Weave Extortion.
There are over 50 playable races for my players, which is probably an overload but I don't care. Most of them are already made and put in legitimate books, or released by Wizards of the Coast but there are some that I've created on my own.
There are many other things, but I'll leave you to decide if you want to know more. Thanks for your time, and I'll try to answer any questions as quickly as possible.

Vandalia World building Q&A

File: 1562711144218.jpg -(13258B / 12.95KB, 284x177) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size. Vandalia World building Q&A
In the Ruins of West Virginia (I began working on this setting in 2017, so dont give me shit because Bethesda stole MY idea dammit) an empire crumbles- that of Vandalia. The reincarnating God-King of Vandalia has yet to be found in his 13th form, and insurrection among the city-states of the Rainforest Kingdom leaves the economy in shambles. In the absence of leadership the ruling authority scrambles to lead their people. Settlements beyond the urban cities are forced to constantly rebuild in the face unrelenting monster and raider attacks. Soon, something is going to give.
As a world building exercise for my tabletop setting, I'd love to do some Q&A and try and find questions I didnt think of and answer them, filling in gaps that players might find. Thanks for any help you might give. Mwah.

I made an item and a background/quest theme for it. Completely unrelated to your super thing, bit why not put the "I made a thing"s in the same place.

The entrance to the beholder's lair is sealed. The entrance seal is a mural depicting various gods having dinner, including the gods of justice, the sea, war, and death. Each god has an empty offering bowl in front of them. The mural is engraved with the words: S E R V E J U S T I C E A N D E N T E R

Placing things in the offering bowls of any god causes a snickering sound to echo through the room, but no other effect. Placing offerings in the offering bowl of the god of justice causes the room to fill with cackling, maniacal laughter.

The door will open when all offering bowls are filled with ice: serve just ice.

You journey deeper into the lair, trapped with more lame riddles, pie ejecting chests, squeaky rubber skeletons(immune to blunt damage), and banana peel lined chutes.

You finally reach the beholder, who dreams of being a comedian. In his possession, he has the cursed Book of PUNishment.

Book of PUNishment:
The wielder may read aloud a joke from the book as an action. Every creature with intelligence 6 or greater that can hear the joke, except the reader, must make a wisdom save with a DC equal to their own intelligence. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d6 psychic damage and 1d4 intelligence damage. Intelligence damage may be restored by a Greater Restoration spell.
If at least one creature succeeds the save, the wielder may not cast spells requiring verbal components or use this ability again for 1d4 turns, but may take all other actions normally: during this time, the wielder is busy explaining the joke.
Once per week, as a full round action, the wielder may cast Hideous Laughter (wisdom save DC 15) on any number of targets within 30 feet.

So undertaking my first major campaign construction, I had always played dungeons and dragons as a kid and a few times as an older adult and thrown together some bs dungeons or stolen something off the interwebs but I'm trying to craft a detailed world this time. What are your strategies, tips , successes stories? Running into logical errors like wanting to put a jungle and a forest on the same landmass and idk when I look at drafts of lager maps they just don't have that "real" feel if that makes any sense.

There was no stack. Each spell had a speed, either sorcery speed, instant speed, or interrupt speed. The only way to respond to a spell was to cast a faster spell.

You cast a sorcery, in response I cast an instant, you can't cast another instant in response to my instant, you gotta bust out an interrupt. If you cast a sorcery and I responded with an interrupt, well, you're fucked, unless you have another interrupt to respond with.

That's how I remember it, but it's been almost 30 years now.

There used to be "the batch". You didn't have to escalate speeds but interrupts stopped stuff happening rather than just got something in first. Once the batch started resolving you couldn't add more cards unlike the stack. I was young and broke so I didn't get into the rules with the same depth over the whole time I played as I managed playing MTGA for 4 weeks. I had to look this shit up.

New system is better. Both simpler and more nuanced.

Kingdom of Loathing has/had: Hot, Cold, Stinky, Sleazy, Spooky.

So it's been done to some extent. Though cotton candy ball would be web, only water removes it instead of fire. I mean fireball is a little bead of fire that explodes, so it'd be a tiny bit of solid candy that puffs out much like how that shit is actually made.
