Just got done gming a very combat heavy vampire session with my Vampires of Houston chronicle on 2mg kpin, beer, and wax. My players Brujah tracked down the Sabbat who kidnapped Viper (yes THE Viper) after killing some shovel-head bikers and took out a buncha Sabbat in the abandoned record label building guarding him.

He has no idea he's about to have to fight a Lasombra Pack Priest next session.

At it with the Vampire again. After last session our player killed the female Lasombra pack priest first shooting her in the shoulder breaking the strap on her dress revealing one of her breasts (much to her anger) then proceeding to blow off her tit with his shotgun in a final blow bringing her to her Final Death. The Prince was very happy and offered to let the player feed from his herd, which the player, being an anarch turned down, but ended on a note of mutual respect with the Prince.

The player is going to go meet with the anarch Baron of the city whom the Prince has hooked the player up with. Lets see how this goes.

Well that was a nice easy session after that boss battle with the Pack Priest. After killing a Sabbat biker the player met up with the anarch Baron in his cabin in Houston's surrounding countryside. The Baron sent the player to rob a local pharmacy. He blasts away the window with his shotgun sending the druggists inside running for their lives. Suddenly a security guard comes in with a S&W 44. The player tries intimidating him and rolls 5 successes causing the security guard to drop his gun and he immediately shits his pants and runs out the back. The player takes the hydrocodone back to the Baron and earns himself 300$ and the trust of the Baron.

Next session he'll have to track down and kill a Sabbat Malkavian who's been making people go insane with his fucked up chopped and screwed beats. I was pretty sober besides kava this session, I GM x10000 better on stimulants. Can't wait to get my 3-fpm.

We had our most recent D&D session this week. The dynamic is this: get information, fail, go to the black sail or gathering dust and get drunk however I did notice two things this week.

One I managed to pass a bluff check against a Devil Lord. That's one up from a Pit Fiend. Not bad for a level 3. Natural fucking 20 though apparently it was only DC25 so I just needed 10 to pass.

Two we have a key to a magic door that opens one of the rooms in the gathering dust. There is only one such key and the door cannot be opened without it. There is a portal to pandemonium in that room. We have the key to that too. So we have an inpenetrable base. Now we just need to outfox Lord Bel (who is another grade up from the Demon I bluffed) and Cyric to save Sigil...

All in a day's work. Soon we'll be level 4.

I think I've finally figured out what in the fuck is going on in Mahjong; I actually won a game of Hong Kong style last night, although I still haven't completed a single hand in Riichi, which is the only variant I really care about since the rules for point exchange between players aren't fucking retarded. I guess I'd try out World Series Competition style Mahjong too, but nobody on Mahjong Time ever plays that shit.

Learning the specific hands is a goddamn nightmare since there are like fucking 20 of them and they're almost never called by English names, but having a Yaku cheat sheet printed out eventually got me there. It's gonna take fucking ages before I know these by heart. This shit is pretty much exactly like if Gin Rummy had ranked hand combinations the way Poker does, only way way more of them, 4 players, and 3 fucking decks at once. It's total insanity.

Well I was out till 1am last night playing D&D.

DMing for a group. Last session involved a lot of walking around a city fluffing persuasion checks. I let them buy some information off the theives guild in the city because the players exhausted or discarded all the leads I threw at them. I'm a believer that you should always have an obvious solution and maybe a less obvious one to most problems but be ready for the players to come up with something you didn't think up and then go with it because it works. In this case the thieves guild is very powerful and so it made sense they'd know..

I think it was a bit of a shock to spend 3 hours wandering around shops and bars after the last session was a 7 hour dungeon crawl/goblinoid genocide session. Some of the players are newish and so I'm trying to give them a bit of everything. I'm really regretting letting a new player go druid though as there so many options she just ended up overwhelmed. That and sorc are terrible picks for clueless players.

They've technically finished the current quest but there's cultists and (lesser/least) demons to slay so they're going to clear out the mansion before they head off to their next adventure.

Next session my players will likely fight a dragon. After a year of dungeons and dragons and they're finally fighting one.

This thing should wreck them, there could be deaths or TPKs if they aren't careful but historically they've avoided some lethal traps.

They haven't done the research or prepared and a high rolling breath weapon + failed saved would kill some of the party members (it'd have to be exceptionally high though) and there's a few other nasty traps which a bit of research (which they know they can pursue) would warn them about so it's on their heads if they fight the dragon in it's lair and it buries them under 50 feet of sand and glass. Knowing my players the paladin will lose half his HP from one round's melee then everything will miss and they'll pass all their saves.

They managed it though I think they were within 1 action of TPK due to the dragon collapsing the ceiling. It ended with the rogue putting the dragon to sleep while it burrowed into the roof of it's cave to bring it down, and then spider climbing up to the roof to execute it. I made him roll the HP sleep put together and it was extremely dramatic but the dragon had 1hp left so I knew he'd won. I just wanted him to feel the drama (though figuring out how to get it dead without waking it while it was in the ceiling was an issue). The actual damage of the dragon wasn't too horrific but they attacked it in a cave made of glass 100 feet under the desert and it could dig. The paladin did take the biggest hits as usual though.

Recently bought two Gwent decks (Nilfgaard and Northern Realms) after loving playing it on Witcher 3. Has anyone else played and enjoyed it? From what I've heard and seen it hasn't really gotten that popular...
Charlotte Gecklewet - Wed, 14 Feb 2018 18:59:46 EST ID:utu79UH+ No.28745 Ignore Report Quick Reply

I loved Gwent in TW3. Just the right balance of simplicity and depth for a card game, in my opinion. Unfortunately it seems they're trying to retire the original formula and push the new standalone Gwent game.

And personally, I absolutely hated the standalone. Way too many changes and the pay-to-win elements are insane (and all too common with digital card games like this). Played maybe 5 matches with the starter decks and couldn't even win a single match against the AI, because they decided all starter decks had to be bare bones, wholly noncompetitive dogshit. Awful game, really disappointed in CDPR tbh.

So I wouldn't hold out hope on original Gwent getting very popular when they're trying their damnedest to replace it with the digital skinner box P2W standalone trainwreck.
