I just bought a used laptop off eBay. The user account was locked, but I managed to get it open. The HD is 99% empty, but there are a series of photos and notes. I'm going to dump them here as I find them.

Or: An impromptu campaign setting design thread, as created by a folder in a file dump I forgot existed.

There is no note for this picture. Just the filename "The Professor". The other filenames correspond to headings in a text file.

Filename "Esther Kapczsky"
Text file reads:
"Esther still owes me ten quid. Not employed with us, of course, but shows up regularly anyhow. Smart. Observant. Compliant when given a direct order. Now that Walt is gone she's probably the only one who knows what really went down in Leiper's Fork. Don't ask if you meet her. Also do not ask her the time, or 'where the antumbra meets'. Consider yourself cautioned."

Filename "Raul McDonnelson"
"Yes, Raul works for us. No, it wasn't a great idea. He's in archives, knows the system backwards and forwards. If you need a favor, offer him any kind of soda he's never tried before. If you ask for something particularly outlandish, he'll offer to do it if you can get him a level 3 access card. Do not bite. There's a reason he's in archives."

Filename "Professor Lewis Pre Collapse"
"You might here them talking about her. Yes, this is what she looked like. Yes, it's kind of uncanny. Don't go digging for reasons. And don't ask to see the incident photos."

Filename "Farragut"
"Always wise to know the face of your employer. Yes, she's as tall as they say. No, she's not as strong as the scuttlebutt claims. She is, if anything, far stronger. Odds are she'll never show up around your division, but if she does, DO NOT SHAKE HER HAND. Basic politeness is key. She'll be there long after we're all buried and she knows it."

"Manifestation KL-019. I'm still amazed that they got to him. Possibly dead. If not, six rounds rapid and call for backup, then run. Was a lousy shot, but don't risk it."

"I still have no explanation for it. He's as ordinary a soldier as I've ever seen in every respect, but the man goes into combat wearing that, and somehow doesn't stick out like a neon sign. No. Explanation. Middling poker player. Never drinks."

Filename "Carter"
"One of the three. Unconfirmed manifestation. Tracked to Maine before I lost his trail. Do not confront directly. Always has a security detail hidden in the immediate area, to say nothing of the goodies his organization deals in. Just follow. Disruption of operations is ideal, but if impossible, tracking them will suffice."

Not popular enough, if you ask me. I remember after years of playing fantasy games I really started yearning for something more realistic or at least modern. Unfortunately I had one asshole in the group who couldn't ever part with his dumb fucking self-insert elf.

After years of swords&sorecry RPG, I realise that a lot of that has modern equivalences. Plus you can always make it "Hollywood physics" eg. only a flesh wound
