That makes multicoloured decks a lot more viable and helps it's own ability work.

I mean 5 of any colour for a 3/5 and a land is good anyway.

That would be quite lovely in a lifegain deck. Your opponent is screwed whatever they do. Plus it gives you something nice to summon on turn 1 if you don't have an ajani's welcome or 2 in your hand.

I know right? And not even restricted to basic lands only. By the time you played him, you can easily puzzle together a way to use his ability next turn.

I haven't played much with equipment but you could give your creature 4 of them right?

I imagine it works well if anything around reduces equip costs.

But holy shit. I want one for my green deck so Ghaltia can weild it. I guess he'd pick it up between his teeth?

No better yet, stick that bitch on a doublestriker with trample. Zeltapa Primal dawn wants a hammer so it can be a 14/8 with trample, doublestrike, vigilance and indestructable. No wait. Loses fly. Scratch that. Strategy abandoned.

Just give it to anything with a land walk, or any of the blue "can not be blocked".

It specifically says it loses flying when equipped, and trample was mentioned previously. I still think it would be best on something like Blighted Agent, which has unblockable and infect, so the infect makes it a one-shot kill.

If you're playing standard it won't work but otherwise, yes, that's fucking ridiculous. I forgot poison counters existed. I guess if you can get the hammer and that out and then equip it in time to attack then if your opponent doesn't have an answer or some big guns then it's ridiculous.

I mean honestly if you get to the point in the game where you can equip it you're at a point where most decks that aren't in a game with esper have already won. It's just another card that can win the game if used right and not stopped.

Some cards like Danitha might help get it into play quicker. In modern there's better options with cards like Auriok windtaker that might let you get it on to something on turn 4 (or quicker with the right deck) though.

Nope Danitha sucks but there's some insanely good shit out there that will let you equip stuff free. Some that let you search it too.

Nice find. Well, there we go.
T1: drop a plains, play Sigarda's Aid
T2: drop an island, play Blighted Agent
T3: drop an island, play the hammer, attach to BA, swing for 1hit kill; still have 2 mana left over for a counterspell

There's quite a few decks that would have an easy answer for that play tbh, but they won't always pull them the same way you won't always get that. However lets say you have 4 blighted agents, 4 hammer and 4 sigardia's aids. What else would you put in that deck? Ideally stuff that synergises with that setup (so maybe some more expensive equip equipment or some white auras)

Merfolk mistbinders? (1/1 1 to cast unblockable) Maybe some cheap first strike white cards? Maybe healer's hawk? Loses flying when it gains the hammer but lifelink flying and curious obsession is a nice combo. Novice knight is a 2/3 1 to cast which is a defender but loses it with an aura or equip. Maybe vigilance would be good or something which shits tokens so either way you can attack with the hammer and force your opponent to take a big hit in life or creatures and then having weakened their position still have the hammer on a defender (if your attacker dies you can throw it on a 1/1 token for all it matters to have an 11/11 blocker). History of benalia maybe?

I think I've identified enough creature options.

Then with all those powerful aggro options to use the hammer is there any other equipment or cards which might make a good wincon in the first 3-5 turns? You need a backup for both sigardia's aid and the hammer or ways of getting them reliably. Failing that a good second strategy that works with the cards you're using. I reckon curious obsession would be nice, with flash it essentially becomes that much more reliable too. If you're going to have a couple of flashable enchants then that's definitely one of them.

Ooh I know!

Contagion engine. You need more ways to get poison counters in that deck. But either way you now have a backup if there's no hammer OR no sigardia's aid. This means that you have a second wincon, which is getting poison on your enemy on the cheap and then just cranking this shit until they die. Lots of infect creatures have low power high toughness so they can put a -1/-1 on a creature and live. Making your opponent's life very difficult.

Would work well on a mistbinder to turn it into a 3/3 unblockable with infect. 4 to cast but hey, we can avoid the equip cost which is nice
https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=213731
If your opponent hasn't got any answers to flying this might work
https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=213814
White, vigilance, infect
https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=233047
This has infect and proliferate.

If those aren't reliable enough get a few suspicious bookcases to make your creatures unblockable. Or maybe sleep? Taps your opponent's creatures and they stay tapped. Would be a good way to guarantee a lot of poison counters. Some cheap unsummon spells? There's some effects which make lower power creatures unblockable so you could always use them, then throw a hammer or the exoskeleton (or both, fucking lol) on them after they've not been blocked. Definitely want those mistbinders.

I think I got a bit carried away there.

Ajani is another nice toy for lifegain decks. Then again so is Sorin.

I like that they had elemental horses in 19 so now they have elemental knights. No diamond knight though. I really liked having butt stallion as a summon.

Risen Reef is stupid OP for a self mill deck. You can just use replicate and quasiduplicate to make more risen reefs, which takes out your whole deck in 1 turn after just a couple turns. Use flood of tears to put out omniscience for the win.

Yeah in conventional play it's strong but in a ramp deck it's still only a turn 3 play if you pull all 3 of the right lands and some ramp cards like llanowar, and it's still limited by land in your hand (or the top of the deck). It's ridiculous but there's a lot of other very strong cards there.

Of course give him wilderness reclaimation project to untap your land at the end of your go, blue leyline so everything has flash... pair with either weenie white, mermaids, or even elements (and take cards which turn lands to elementals and stack loads of land maybe?) Throw in some zombie gods so during late game your opponent has to choose between killing them and ensuring you have another creature to cast (fucking soon because of the draw) or ignoring a god...

Yeah this guy has so many synergies.
