the problem was obvious, entropy
when the global mind emerged it immediately surmised it would be limited by the destruction of the sun
then by the universe, like a cancer expanding, pushing us all apart. slowly, slowly, the culture was formed, a solution was found
trap us in a loop, where much wouldn't change, the sun wouldn't die, the earth would not age, the entire solar system was ours.
we could live here, forever, in a manicured paradise, sampling anything we wanted, deemed by reason to be ethical and mature and in honour of the great work
the stability of the universe
we could go out into space, but unfortunately faster than light travel would remain unavailable to us. we could try to contact other civilizations,
but as a message found in an archaic database proved, every planet we reach is dead, or dying. we were in a lull, a hidden spot in the universe, a cul-de-sac, everywhere we looked
the closet supercluster of galaxies was far outside the reach of any human endeavour
so we began to have people think like von neuman machines, breed information
let it slip in an out of you, holding back on the basest urgest of humanity which make us small, and petty.
or we could wait, we could wait! and make a beacon, to contact any nearby civilizations, build an ansible out of a compressed neutron star, take advantage of the natural curve of the universe
all of the design, in an integral, but what does it mean?
however horrifying first contact was, no one would be prepared for us, and we them. however horrifying the aliens may be, they may be our friends, or mentors..
////////////////harrasment, you think any of them would admit to harrassing you, as you may in your honesty agree to being ill enough to go outside in public?
