I always noticed when I smoked, vaped or took a gum, that nicotine seems to make my vision sharper for a while.. a bit like eye glasses do. Recently I've noticed that it seems to slightly alter my hearing too. The effect seems very positive but only a slight effect, nothing major. How come this is never mentioned anywhere, and when I try to Google about tobacco and vision it's always that tobacco makes you blind and worse and so on..
Anyone else noticed this?I wonder is is because of stimulation, change in blood pressure or what exactly goes on.
Mind you that I'm not a regular to smoking or nicotine in general.

I've been basically a chain smoker/dipper/nicotine-user for 7 years, only really being without nicotine when I sleep. Just went cold turkey on Sunday, and I swear that the nicotine withdrawals are acutely changing the way I hear music. It's actually better, similar to being high.

I get very noticeable changes in my vision from nicotine as well, not sharpness, but increased brightness, very slight halos around objects or "sparkles" in my vision, hard to describe. This is only if I haven't smoked/vaped in a while or smoked weed beforehand, though. Otherwise there will only be a little brightness.

Thanks for the explosion. Oilfield?

To add to the topic, while I do agree with all the above picks, my favorite disposables are calico brand. They have rounded corners so they don't catch or jab. Very versatile, adjustable flame. Their tops have a matte black finish so if you smoke herb and use it as a tamper the cops won't notice (they look for residue to further their investigation). My fave refillables are Nulites purely for cool factor. Very distinct and easier to reclaim if someone pockets it.

I'm a military buff so I have a lot of refillable lighters. Zippos, Zippo knockoffs, Imco, a WW1 replica and so on. The pipe lighter version of a zippo will light up all tobacco products plus alternate =). Take the inner tube from a bike, cut it to size, and you will substantially improve the fuel longevity and water resistance of your zippo. Knockoffs vary widely in quality but tend to have a foam strip that degrades over time from the fuel. Will let anons know if a tire would be a better mod for zippos and their knockoffs.

I prefer King lighters for disposables. You can actually salvage the flint from 'em but yea most of the time it's not worth the bother.

Lighter Fluid Q

Can you use standard lighter fluid (as pic'd) in a Zippo etc? I don't see why it wouldn't work and bulk lighter fluid is cheaper. Zippo brand fuel uses naptha while charcoal lighter fluid uses petroleum distillates. Would it affect health or taste adversely? Has anyone tried it? I use the offbrand fuels for my zippo.

It works, it just evaporates slightly faster (even if u don't light it once it's not gonna have anything in it in a month) and burns a bit smellier.
Zippos basically work with everything that's flammable, including regular petrol.
Except if you put anything but zippo fluid in it, it's either gonna evaporate faster or taste a bit off.

Point is it works with almost everything that's flammable, literally almost everything. But it obviously does, it's just a piece of cloth wet with flammable liquid, why wouldn't it ignite?
In the long run, it's more convenient to just use Zippo fluid, but there are really no downsides of pouring even nail polish remover or something in it, as long as it works. Zippos already taste bad as they are.

Observe smokers basic mannerisms. Their existence revolves around smoking. Replace your cigarettes into say very intense even painful fee-the-burn exercising routines instead. I feels great.

Smoking is relaxing pleasurable rewarding to people. Turn that into painful pleasurable painful
workouts, you will feel these to be far more superior pleasurable and rewarding.

Smokers like structure, self identity. They are smokers. If you have one up on that then you
have something going that is far superior.

Keeping smoking surely isn't that great either way. My most anxiety not smoking for a long time, smoking anxiety wise is when I am around people smoking. Then it kinda kicks in.

I've quit smoking, but only since Sunday have I quite nicotine.

For about two years I didn't smoke, and instead used swedish snus. It's supposed to be a lot safer, and I bought some really strong stuff online that knocked me on my ass, so no withdrawals. I got a little bit of a craving for the ritual of having a smoke when I was driving or whatever, but the snus was strong enough that I could get almost uncomfortably buzzed for the first few weeks (before my tolerance went up).

Eventually the snus fucked up my gums, so I tried out an e-cig. I tried this route way earlier in like 2010, but e-cigs sucked then. I ended up dropping $100 on something decent, and for the last ~2 years I've used that instead of snus. Though I have occasionally slipped and had a regular cig at the bar or when with my family.

So yeah, quitting smoking cigs (with the occasional slip-up) is doable, especially when switching to another form of tobacco (like smoked to oral), and as long as nicotine is still in your system and you maintain the ritual like with e-cigs, that's doable too. But giving up nicotine and especially giving up any kind of ritual? That's pretty hard.

I'm sitting here with gum in my upper lip to feel like snus, and I haven't even done snus in a couple years. I just need some kind of tobacco ritual.

This is probably a stupid question, but I've just made the switch to rollies and quite often when I try to roll one, the papers just won't roll up properly. They two sides don't go past each other easily, they get stuck. I'm using Riza Green UK papers, they're not damaged or moist. What is this?

Betsy Goodfoot - Mon, 23 Jan 2017 06:32:07 EST 6enWuwnZ No.173234 Reply
What do you mean won't roll up properly?
Use both hands. Hold the filter in the left side with one hand and stuff tobacco in with the right one.
Bring the bottom part of the paper to the adhesive line, lick the line and start rolling and then finish with smoothing the adhesive part.

Practice. Obviously you're gonna roll a good 100 cigarettes before you can get it right reliably.

Also, it's because you're not tucking in the bottom side of the paper properly. With your filter gripping hand, hold it and tuck it firmly when you roll it up. It's not the papers, user error

Smoker's cough

Is there a reason why some people seem to get this, and others don't? I've known people who have smoked for 10, 20 years, and don't ever seem to cough or show signs that they smoke/

I've only been smoking for maybe 4 months and I seem to get the cough a lot, and often have to spit out phlegm.

I used to smoke Marijuana fairly regularly, and sometimes still do, so that could be a reason.

Otherwise, I used to use Snus instead of smoking. I might go back to Snus if this continues. Not to mention I live in the Upper Midwest so the Winters are pretty bad, which makes smoking more difficult (cant smoke in my apartment, and wouldn't want it smelling like smoke, anyway).

I drink plenty of fluids through the day, hoping that will do something to help.

Would sucking on cough drops or some other soothing throat lozenge help?

Does it depend what brand you smoke/nicotine/tobacco content? Pic related is what I usually smoke, while occasionally getting the Menthols as a change up.

Ive been smoking a lot of them recently since im broke as fuck. Im dippin some cope snuff now, and so far the nicotine is balls, better than smoking id say, and its worth not coughing. i AM sick and recovering from bronchitis.
The reason long term smokers dont cough as much is because they're lungs are basically broken.

The coughing stops for a few years after you've been smoking for like a year and then comes back after 10 years or so.
The problem solves itself by smoking smooth shit like camels.

I went to the hospital recently because I thought I was having a heart attack. I've smoked for 10 years. Just woke up one day with really intense chest pain that would come and go, a feeling that no matter how deep I was breathing I wasn't getting enough air, and the most intense cold sweats I've ever had. This went on for like a half hour.

Turns out it wasn't a heart attack and everything seemed to check out OK. I still felt light-headed though and in the next few days I came down with a really bad case of something. The cold sweats and chest pain didn't come back but my sinuses were totally fucked and I was coughing lots of mucus up. Didn't run a fever or anything though. Really I just couldn't breathe well and felt kinda loopy for about a week.

I think what happened is I came down with a sinus infection or something and the smoking just made it way worse than it would have been otherwise. I'm still smoking a whole lot and I feel fine now though. But I do need to cut down. In general I get a mild, sharp pain in my chest from time to time. Nothing like it was that particular day though, but chest pain is definitely something that just comes along with smoking too much.

if you dont want to cough, you need to take lighter draws, and cool the smoke in your mouth before inhaling.

Never really coughed from cigs myself. There are these hair like things that generally
stand straight out, they collect dust and stuff to protect your lungs, mucus,
cough up stuff. They serve a purpose to help keep us healthy.

These become paralyzed from a single drag of a cig, a whole smoke takes longer before they even start to recover. Leaving people more vulnerable to respiratory illnesses. This may be party why you cough. These laying down
instead of sticking out.

I have smoked for years, quit, a few times. It serves no purpose to me today. Have family that died directly from tobacco.

Speaking about coughing though, dads GF coughing blood all over. ER visits often.

To speak for her, she got used to smoking when she was young and beautiful, she quit coughing when she died.
She blamed herself for her condition, I say nay, the lobbyists and tobacco industry$$$$$$.

I am not stranger to drugs alcohol, like massive. So I am not judging, just saying, it's a bad path to take.
Smokers also smell like pee and poo. Simple as that.

Recently I had a friend who stayed in the Middle East for a couple years come back home.

With him he brought some stuff called "dokha" we call it 'duke', and he claims its better than smoking cigarettes and ultimately poppers, (weed and tobacco).

I'm not so sure so I decided to come to my friends at /hooch/ for consultation.

Also after smoking it, it's a HUGE fucking rush or tobacco, sort of like taking a drag of a cigarette for the first time (minus the coughing). And you feel stupid out of breath.

I found out a gas station around the corner from me sold General snus and bought Mint flavored.
I'd only used Camel since its the most readily available and I usually hold it in my lip for like 30-40 minutes until it starts making my spit irritating and dip like.

Well it turns out that this general is really moist and starts to feel like that after just 5-10 minutes.
It was my understanding that even the American export versiom was superior to camel.
It's fresh snus and sealed so why is it releasing so much tobacco soaked spit like dip? It feels like swallowing dip spit.

Is that the proper snus and I was just used to camel? Because I'm gonna be honest I don't like it.

That's what's known as a wet portion. It's very moist produces a lot of spit. Some people (like myself) enjoy it.

There's a dry portion too which is waaaay more subtle. No drip at all. But I've never seen any kind in the states that wasn't that Camel trash. You have to order it from Snus sites. They're pretty good though, Snuscentral ships fast and cheap. There's others too.

But yeah, you want the dry portion.

Umm I don't think there is any. I will say that pure nicotine even when vaped doesn't completely kill the craving to smoke. I still have that anxious tight chest feeling that smoking is so good at getting rid off.

In tobacco there are MAOIs, or Mono aMine Oxidase Inhibitors. These act as a type of anti depressant and are just as addictive as nicotine. This is one of the big difference between vaping and smoking and why ecigs don't get rid of cravings all The way.
