hey /tobacco/ first time posting here
i have been rolling my own cigarettes for about a month now using a bag of ohm turkish pipe tobacco. it was the perfect dryness and cut and i sort of assumed that all pipe tobacco would have the same dryness.
i was wrong
i ordered a half pound of different flavors of pipe tobacco from sutliff on a site online.
it came in much much wetter than the ohm tobacco.
i rolled a cigarette of it in my little rolling machine and it came out all sticky and covered in resin and i had to re light the cigarette every 3 or so drags.
please help me out here guys what do i do?

all of the ones i got are a pretty good cut for cigarette, just not dry enough.
i would try smoking it from a pipe though. can i just use a little glass weed pipe to do it? or should i get a real tobacco pipe?

Glass doesn't soak up moisture so I wouldn't think it'd be very enjoyable. I've tried a small (but real made for tobacco) one before and I didn't get much taste out of it, needs the bigger bowl. And weed resin and pipe tobacco really doesn't mix well, is like trying out tea but drinking it out of an unwashed beer can.
A good corn cob pipe is cheap. Clay can be cheap too, but they're more of a dice roll how they'll smoke. Then if you find you like piping you can look into grabbing a better briar one.
>>

Adding some prices for reference;
Cheapest (new) real briar you'll find will be about $20, and it'll probably be a bit sucky if you don't make a good dice roll. $40 for a good one, and once you hit $50+ you're just paying for branding/reputation at that point. Could probably find a good quality preowned one for maybe $20-30 but then you'd have to know what to look out for.

Clay would be about $15, but some have much too tight draw to be usable. As long as you don't drop it it's more weather proof though. Can't burn out since it's clay, so will hold up in strong wind.

Cob would be between $5 and $15 depending on the style/model, but they always smoke well. As long as it isn't a cheap chinese one, those burn out very quickly. Missouri Meerschaum makes really good stuff, I'm not even in America and I enjoy them enough to feel that the import tax was worth it.

All have their good sides, and if one finds themselves liking pipe smoking one would do good to have one of each. A tobacco you'd find bland in one type of pipe might shine in another. The cob is a good start though. Most beginner friendly.

I just learned I can buy half a kilo of tobacco leaves for 7 bucks in my country and after running it through a tobacco shredder for 19 bucks, I have perfect tax free tobacco.
>>
Hugh Greenhall - Tue, 04 Dec 2018 15:22:57 EST FS6XSMhU No.174196 Reply
You can do that in most countries.
But it's not perfect tobacco, the curing process is different, also it's just 1 kind, every cigarette consists of 2 or 3 types of tobacco, except in canada, where cigarettes taste like shit.
I've smoked home tobacco before and it's really not that great, the flavour is just not there, it tastes very dull and non-aromatic. It's not an enjoyable smoke.

You can buy several kinds from the right sites though. If you buy burley only I can understand why'd it be bland.
They kinda banned it in my country though. Still legal to buy whole leaves, but the kind that used to be sold (destemmed) got hit with taxation because it had been slightly prepared, even if it wasn't ready for smoking. Nobody selling the whole leaves domestically. And if customs doesn't think it's "whole leaf" enough you'll still get fined and taxed even though the product is sold as whole leaf, probably why there hasn't cropped up any whole leaf shops after the ban.

Does anyone here have any experience using use air filters for cigarettes smoke? I'm looking to get one for Christmas for my bedroom which I always smoke in; its not a problem during warm weather as I can open up the windows and skylight to circulate the outside air. I'm not worried too much about the smell as much as I am about the smoke particles itself floating around the room which ends up as dust everywhere.

Plus I have 2 cats which like to stay in my room a lot and I don't want them getting cat cancer because of me smoking. I looked up a bunch of different filters and it seems most filer the smell but not the actual smoke partials since they're extremely small , I might be wrong though. So if any of you guys use these yourself or know of any high quality filters that would be great.

So I have a bunch of cigarettes laying around and I don't wanna go outside because it's raining nor I want to smoke up my apartment. Are there any other ways of consuming the nicotine from cigarettes? Last time I tried putting them up my upper lip like snus but it didn't really work. I though about steeping them in a tea or something but that's just disgusting, for snorting I guess I would have to ground them up to a snus like consistency. Well I guess I answered myself, but might as well post anyways. So have you ever tried making some nasty cigarette swill?

im semi proud of the sheer simplicity of this

if you're like me and want a chill smoke in between burning your lungs

ideally you get a mcdonalds straw, water bottle, ice ice cold water

poke 2 holes one 2/3s down for the straw, one closer to the top which you cover with your thumb as a carb

pull out your filter about halfway out

bite off/ cut out a bit of the filter so its kinda cone shaped at the end so it can fit snugly into the straw

after the filter is in there nicely slide the cig back down and the paper should enclose the outside of the end of the straw and youll feel it nicely bump back against the filter

and viola! mouth on the top, cover the carb, light the cig and inhale a little harder than you would normally, you should see the top of the bottle get white with smoke, release your thumb and there you are!

:) honest to god my lungs feel butter already and this is pretty easy to assemble when you are craving

This is something I made. It's not hard at all. You need a mason jar, some kind of mouthpiece, a downstem, and a bowl that fits the downstem. I've broken this thing many-a-gime, but ive had it with me for 2 it 3 years.

I have the fondest memories for Kodiak Wintergreen Long Cut, but I love the sting and burn of Klondike Wintergreen Short Cut, too.

I believe I've tried Grizzly Mint Long Cut in 2016 through a guy who bought them off a baseball player who bought them up to sell them off when he came back across the border. $10 tins.

I live in Canada, and we have Skoal and that's about it. I love my American Chew. I hope to settle with one soon.

My apartment used to have a chain smoker that lived in here for 27 years and then died from lung related issues. The smoke smell still lingers, and my skin now breaks out in rashes on and off. I never had sinus probs til now. Am I living in a toxic den? It smells like a bar.

Have you tried cleaning the place? Repainting the walls? If you can't do it just open the windows a lot.
Man just because the apartment smells like shit there's no actual smoke in the air. So its not like you're getting cancer now. Your skin problems aren't caused by the smell. Bedbugs are far more likely.

If anyone has this issue with rolling I kinda got something figured out. I have a really hard time tucking the front piece under the back piece using my thumbs. So what I started doing, when I've prepared it for the final tuck/roll move, is reversing my hands so that my index fingers are on the roll where you would normally have your thumbs and my thumbs are underneath the cigarette. Tuck with your index fingers and roll up with your thumbs. It feels so natural to me compared to the typical method. I can get them very tight and packed.

Your problem might be that you are forcing the tuck. Once the cigarette is at the right consistency, the paper should just slide right around it.

I've been cursed with hipster genetics and seem to prefer snuff tobacco to any other form. The burn in the nose, the stay of the aroma, the history of it - everything. Just got an order in, picked up Fribourg and Treyer's Seville, Wilson & Co. Best SP, Gawith and Hoggarth's Spartan, and Molens Peppermint.

My favourite has to be the Molens, followed closely by McCrystal's Medicated Mint & Wilson's Best SP.

Pretty fucking obscure, anyone else here snuff?

For non-white, I really like the heavy English snuffs. Sam Gawith is a particular favorite, especially their London Brown. I wish I could still get it in bulk. The Viking line is good too, especially Viking Dark, though it is quite harsh due to the heavy Virginia presence. For an oddball snuff, Wilsons of Sharrow Royal George is a great one. As for the famous Fribourg & Treyer, nothing they do is as special as the Santo Domingo. For SP, I really like J&H SP no1, but it is harder to find for me now. For menthol, Hedges L260 is simply without peer. I do not care for schmalzers. For a ghee snuff, Dholakia Black has been heavenly, but it is very uneven and I did not like the batch I got a couple of years ago so I haven't tried since. I'm not a big toast guy - the whites satisfy that craving for me. Though you can't go wrong with Sam G's Irish D, it is very sweet. Do not neglect the south african snuffs. NTSU and babaton blue are my favs of this class.

Just bought long-term supplies of my favourite tobacco snuffs after trying a few different kinds.

Wilsons of Sharrow Best SP 4x medium tins
McCrystal's Original and Genuine, 1x Large tin
2x 10g bottles of Rustica snuff, or Rape, from South America, scented with lovely chacruna. Absolutely love the stuff.

Have a bunch of Toque Rustica left... Acquired taste, taste acquired.
Still have to try to find an Indian White Snuff when money allows.

Have a sample of Oden Double Mint White Snus, want to see what the hype is about with all the "White" swedish Snus types. Have to buy some clean tobacco for all the deadly tastes for American cigarettes and Chew I'd like to try before I die.

Congratulations, I played myself

I know cigarettes cause atherosclerosis which can permanently shrink your erect member, and I know nicotine is a vasoconstrictor that can temporarily shrink it/make it hard to get it up, but can nicotine alone, no smoke, permanently shorten my erect member/permanently make it hard to get it up like other stimulants such as vyvanse or are the effects just temporary?

Unless your smoking is decreasing your oxygen intake, the effects of vasoconstriction should wear off, fortunately. Give it a month before you can better expect your part to do its part.
