Do I suck at wicking all of the sudden?

Just a quick readout, the setup I'm running is a Sigelei 200W box with a Velocity RDA. I'm running 55.5W through it at 0.4ohms, and the build is dual parallel coils wrapped 8 times using 28awg Kanthal, and I have them stacked vertically because the RDA is a two-post setup, they're centered right in the middle of the RDA.

This has pretty much been my "old reliable" of sorts since I've sort of plateaued in my interest in rebuilding and whatnot, and I've had very few problems up until a few months ago. When I'm wicking them, I thread the cotton (organic non-bleached balls) through the center of the coils, I think I have these at 2.5mm diameter. I usually juice it up and let it soak for a few minutes and go at it and it's usually been fine. A few months back I noticed that the wick threaded through my top coil had developed a tendency to split apart in the middle, inside the coil, causing a burnt taste and frequent dry hits. This happened less often with the coil mounted on the bottom. When I'm removing my old wicks, they're practically falling right out and the middle of the wick is noticeably gone, the wick ends at the mouth of the coil; as if the cotton in the middle just burnt up and disappeared.

I tried finding some solutions elsewhere but I've had no luck, I'm changing my wicks twice a day at this point when for over a year I've never had this problem on the exact same build. I've tried using more cotton for a tighter hold, I've tried using less cotton to prevent it choking up and not distributing liquid, I've tried letting it soak for a half hour and I've even let it soak overnight. I've run down the wattage as low as 44W and still the same problem arises on a build I used to be able to run up to 120W on.

Do you guys have any idea at all what could be causing this? I've heard people say that it could be caused by some different brands of liquid but I've had it happen with pretty much all my usuals (although I notice it's more frequent with creamier, milky juices).

Any help is appreciated dudes

I had the same problem with long coils, i.e. larger diameter and with many wraps for high voltage setups on series mechanicals and triple-battery regulated. I found my solution in using spaced coils since those coils heat up more evenly and, while clean, don't get too hot in the center before the rest of the coil heats up. An easy way to make spaced coils is to wrap coils in parallel and then unscrew the coils from one another while still on the coiling rod, perhaps requiring a dummy wire on the rod since you're already wrapping parallel coils. Another method would be to wrap coils as usual and then stretch and compress the coils on the rod until evenly spaced but, again, difficult with already-parallel coils.

I rebuild about once a month. I actually just tried another brand of cotton today and already ran into the same problem, so that tells me the problem is most likely on my end and not just the brand

I'm gonna try this, thanks. I'll probably try and rebuild like I normally would one more time first, though, I have a hunch that maybe I've got a hotspot that I haven't noticed or something.

Hi /vape/, first thread in this board. I come with some noob questions. I have a mechanical smok r80 TC (goes up to 80w and has temperature control).
Now, the questions:
-What's a good tank (?) to start
-Good coil material
-Frequency in his is recommended to change the coils and cotton

Also I'm in sort of a budget, so I don't know if that helps.

I want to start dripping mainly because I am looking to improve my flavor experience, not necessarily looking for the huge clouds (even thought I'm fine with having them), am I looking for the right thing here?

Enlighten me please

Its an almost complete list of highly rated rdas i found across various forums, russian imageboard reviews and personal experience.
Google them and get yourself any you personally like or a high rated cheap clone from fasttech/ali. I'm not really sure you can import rda clones to us safely tho so check that by yourself.
Other thing you need to know is that currently all the bottom airflow rdas are leaking the liquid a bit. The other thing is that twisted messes rda is more of cloud chasing one and you wouldn't find a clone of it. Other ones are providing an amazing juice/clouds balance (not really sure about magma).

Pretty sure my english isn't excellent. Sorry for that.

Now I am not talking about all the reasons listed in the image I am more reffereing to the online flaming of vapers. There seems to be a whole world of trendy peeps with vapes talking clouds and thinking they are superior of which I am not familiar at least over here in Europe. I find the dedicated vapers here to be pretty cool normal people who just want a smoking alternative.
What is this underclass culture that is bringing down the hate that I am not aware of?

I'm in the US and that's what its like here, too. People just harp on vapers because of the only things they know about vaping are from obnoxious Youtube videos. They don't actually know anyone who vapes. I've literally never met a cloudbro IRL. All the people I know who vape are former smokers in there 20's and 30's who act no different now compared to when they smoked cigarettes.

When I started vaping I had all regulated devices, and was always told that dual coil, lowest ohms ya can get is the way to go. Well, after getting into mechs I realized that's not only just preference, its not really the best way to go with many mods. Anyone else still all about that 1+ ohm single coil life? The benefits I've found so far are that your batteries will last much longer, the vape is cooler, theres more flavor, you can put huge weird coils on and not worry about long ass ramp up, and its a lot easier to build.

Plus you can freak out ur sub ohm friends when you blow clouds at like 20 watts lol.

The one on the right with the glass bubble looks like it might do concentrate. Though I don't know your pen's temperature control. If you do try it, I recommend the lowest voltage setting it has, like around 3.2 to 3.5 on the dial if it go that low.

Banteel - Sun, 08 Jan 2017 07:08:54 EST kBdOeaMX No.3224 Reply

Before you try it. I do recommend you go to either Source Vapes website or some other known Concentrate Vape pen site and look at their atomizers to make sure that the atomizer on your pen is the same or at least very similar to the standard concentrate pens being sold.
If it's the same atomizer as any of these pens known for smoking concentrate then you may have a good chance at successfully smoking it with concentrate (bho).

The white pen on the left looks like a normal vape pen for PG/VG. I could be wrong. It may be a goo pen as you say for bho mixed with a liquid. Actually upon closer look in the photo it seems to have brown sludge inside the white pen, so it's likely bho liquid goop.

I'd stick with the glass bubble pen on the right for smoking hard bho.

Hey /vape/,

I'm likely buying an entire vape kit this Monday, and I want to make it maximum stealth so I can smoke in empty places in campus instead of having to walk about 3 kilometers outside campus to smoke.

So far my plans are to get:

  • a Kayfun atomizer (not sure which, being honest)
  • iStick Pico
  • A PG flavor that doesn't produce a lot of vapor or smell, but that has a good taste

I still want to get a huge buzz from the nicotine but I want it to be decently compact, that doesn't make a huge "pop" noise and keep the vapor to a minimum, though, so I'm not sure exactly what I should get that still doesn't sacrifice the taste and doesn't smell much.

Thx in advance

As a smoker who's been trying to quit, I've been trying to figure out how to get that head rush. I vape 6 mg liquid, and I never really got it on any of my old devices, but I recently bought a 75 watt unit, and it actually does it for me. I think vaporizing a larger volume of liquid in each hit is important.

It's simple. High wattage vape that produces a lot of vapor requires less nicotine. If you're using a device that is weaker just up the nic to 18mg or something and you'll still get a good rush.
I prefer high wattage with lots of vapor and airflow so I don't have to suck on the thing for ages but you can still get a kick out of lower tier shit.

This is pretty much what it is. Ever since I started vaping on a bigger box/tank combo I get more nicotine per hit, even just vaping on an 8 or 12 mg nic level.

I also get more of a head buzz if I've been drinking.

Is it the MFLB or is there another?

I need to vape in a very small room with a window open and my exhaled vapor going through a smokebuddy jr. Thus I just need to kill the scent eminating from the unit itself because the vapor is taken care of with the combo forementioned. Should I get a really long piece of tubing and just hang a vaporizer out my window crack down the building (first floor) and suck on it lol? Very disapproving parents and one has the smell of a dog.

You're fucked OP. Try to sneak out when you smoke/vape or wait until they go to bed, Find someone's house to make edibles in. Look up recipes like brownies or tinctures/green dragon. If you're in a legal state just buy it. (In case you don't know, don't try to make edibles, your kitchen will reek of weed for hours.)

That all said, if you _really_ want to vape inside, the MFLB is the sneakiest I've tried. The vapor path is so short that there's nowhere for the smell to condense onto. Blow it out the window even without a nice sploof and you'll probably be okay. Other vapes I've tried like the Pax 2 are great but REEK in comparison. Any vape is better than any form of smoking though.

Is Arizer EQ a good desktop vape? I like my Arizer Air, but I don't really find myself needing a portable vape cause I'm usually doing it at my place with a few friends anyway. Passing around a portable vape that gets hot and needs batteries doesn't really work with 4 people.

They're all quality vapes, but they're all very styles. You need to think about how you want to use your vape, then the choice should be obvious.

Volcanoes are great for groups, but I find the bags inconvenient for solo use. The VapeXhale is going to give you the thickest rips, but can be a pain to pass around more than two or three people.

As for the portables, they're both good, but the mighty is significantly larger. How important is stealth to you?

I just got an istick power nano with a ceramic tank, what wattage do you think I should do?
this is my first time getting into this, I've read to stay between 4-7 something but I find at8-10 is where I get the best hits, because lower than that it doesn't get hot enough fast enough I guess.
Am I wasting my wax because I feel like every hit should be hard hitting like any other dab, even though I am vaping.
I've gotten a few really great hits out of it that really got me good but idk what I'm doing.
My box goes from 1-40 watts, voltage seems to adjust with watts.
has temperature control modes but those are for coils made out of specific material not including ceramic.

I doubt any of the coils for your tank can be temp controlled.

I wouldn't worry about your wattage too much. There's a lot of variance with these atomizers. You're not cranking it up to anything crazy, just go with what works for you.

You should experiment with turning down the power a bit though and see if you still get as high. Most of these atomizer aren't going to hit anything like a real rig. Turning them up may make them seem like they are hitting harder, but it mostly due to the hotter air burning your throat more.

Now I haven't used my vape on any concentrates yet but I do have something I can say about your comment.

When I vape if you begin to inhale quickly after you begin to hit your setup you can avoid the vapor getting hot and burning your throat. Reults; longer hits bigger clouds. That being said I would think you would want to put your wattage up as high as possible for concentrates to get the actual burn required for dabs.

I don't know the info but I would assume you could literally take the temp it takes to vaporize a dab in a dab rig and cal ulatewhat voltage it is that leads to an equivalent heat then extrapolate the wattage based of that voltage. Or ofc go temp controlled =p
