Anyone else?
I haven't bought a new full priced game in years. 60 bucks is and will always be ludicrous
Nothing tickles my anus more than finding a great game for $20 bucks or under.
Also helps that I'm patient and I don't play many online games so I don't have to worry about the community still being active

I gamed on low end systems and last gens hardware for ages but I was poor as fuck for ages. Can actually relate to it
Like the detail about it cause I basically lived off emulation for forever comically its even more viable now
Lowend gaming is actually a wonder to behold nowadays with all the old games ready to go

This is the first Animal Crossing game that I really sunk into and I bought City Folk for a cheap price on eBay. Now I feel upset that I never got into this game when it debut on the GameCube/N64. I just expanded my house so now I'm in debt to Tom Nook AND I have a Dream Center project in the works. I still don't know what the best way to earn Bells are other than fishing and that's not always a guarantee. Am I doing something wrong when it comes to my work and pay?

Turnips are essentially the stocks of this game, right? I wish I understood how they worked or else I could be making some serious money in real life. I know about buy low sell high but I have no idea when to utilize it.

The idea is that you save up Bells by fishing or growing fruit, then selling them until you have a respectable amount of Bells.
Then, on a Sunday (when the Turnip NPC is in town), you buy as many turnips as you can for as cheap as you can (whether this means looking online for people who say their town has turnips for a really low price or staying in your town and buying them), then you spend the next 6 days looking for the highest price to sell them for (whether this means looking online for people who say their town has turnips selling for a really high price or staying in your town and selling them).
The gamble is in when you sell them. Lets say that you saw a post about a town where 1 turnip sells for 150 bells. You can choose to go there and sell or wait for a higher price....but either way, you only have 6 days.

Stocks irl are similar but affected by events....there's also only one market. So lets say you buy 5 stocks in Turnip Farms Inc. for $5 each but then a cold snap happens and all the turnips die. Most investors don't want to own stock in a business that has all of its product rendered unusable, so they'll probably sell their stock. The price of stock for Turnip Farms Inc would plummet (lets say they're worth 50 cents each now) but if you think they'll make a comeback, you can buy the stock for cheap and keep the stock you already have. If you're right and Turnip Farms Inc has a good year, the price of the stock you own goes up; so instead of owning 5 stocks worth $5 each, now you own 5 stocks worth $100 each....or, if you bought a bunch of stock when they were worth 50 cents, 100 stocks worth 50 cents each which turns into 100 stocks worth $100 each.

The Animal Crossing version (actually called the Stalk Market) is like the irl stock market but simplified and with multiple realities where the same stock is worth more or less.

there's actually more to it that I forgot:

You can keep buying low and selling high until the end of the 6 days (because after that, the turnips rot and you can't sell them). Ideally, you stop buying turnips right before Sunday because now you have gobs of money and not pockets full of rotten turnips.

What game gets your inner tactical rollin'?

For a while it was Siege for me, until I tried SWAT 3 and 4 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare in Coop,
and Siege just looked like an overhyped breed between Call of Duty and Overwatch to me.

Heck, I even remember playing Rogue-Spear some years ago!
These were the times!

It's a good one and it actually told me how good SWAT 4's soundtrack is. I played it first time with someone I knew to be using no music (for easier comms in coop) and he didn't find it atmospheric at all while everyone else has had the opposite experience.

I have a month left to throw myself into a video game before I go back to not having any time. I've chosen between a few different titles I've been wanting to play. Please help me decide which you think was the one the most worth putting into the time to playing.

Some things I enjoy about videogames:

I like some kind of them you can gather from what the character or character is experiencing that you can relate back to in real life. Sometimes this is intentional in a story sometimes it not but it reminds me that a human created the game.

Mass Effect Andromeda: never got to play this game

Assassin's creed odyssey: fun game from what I've played. My last ac was ac 2. Not a huge fan of these games but they're pretty fun and I like open world stuff so

FF 12: I've played maybe ten hours or so so far and I like it. First time playing it.

Divinity 2: like this one since I loved top down rpgs like this back in the day. Some of the humor is excellent and almost feels like a parody of fantasy world's. I do think the game can be a little too difficult due to some of the cheesiness of the ai. It feels too computer like and they always have the heads up on you no matter what you do.

Vampyr: this game is okay. I'm not sure if I like it enough to play through something about the game isn't satisfying.

Witcher 3: I thought this was gonna be one of the best games I ever played. I love open world games and the second game I really liked. well this one in just can't get over how much the combat is unsatisfactory. Just feel like I throw on the shield move and roll around in every fight. Quests felt pretty stupid and useless. Idk what it is I wish I could like this game like everyone else seems to. Maybe I need to give it another chance?

+1. The writing in Tides is friggin' fantastic. What I love is that the guys who wrote for this game have zero fear about going balls-to-the-walls crazy with its story.

I thought that this trailer was a pretty good example of some of the writing in the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVAMuk-CV18

A lot of the big Black Isle names, yeah.

YMMV but I found a lot of the writing to be stiff and kinda monotonous. For me it was good but overall nowhere close to being as engaging as the original, which I guess is probably to be expected.

Finally!

Hello all,

I am someone who loves video games, but have always been a console fag (parents never bought me a nice computer, I never saved and built one, family computer was crap). I've played a lot of hearthstone, some runescape and adventure quest back in the day, and have loved on consoles games like Zelda (up to wind waker), fable, mass effect, knights of amalur, KOTOR, forza/generally racing games, and enjoyed some shooters when I was younger like halo 2 and 3, gears of War, battlefield 2, unreal tournament 3, and more.

I just got a new Dell G5 laptop with a Intel i7-9750 and Nvidia GTX 1660TI so I am super excited to finally be able to game on PC. I have a wired controller and a nice mouse.

Can anyone recommend some great PC games for me? I know there's tons and I don't know where to start. Part of me can't wait to get back into old games I love and I have a huge emulation collection I can't wait to move to the new laptop, but I also want some new and good PC games where I can actually use the power of my new machine. I also love RTS and plan on trying the new civilization unless there's something better.

If this breaks the rules mods delete, and sorry if it's not the most interesting topic for all, but I thought this the best place to ask. I like your guys opinions that I read.

So I grew up a Nintendo kid, didn't have much exposure to the PlayStation* and I got a furlough coming up so I figure now is the time to play things I missed. So does anybody got some classics they'd recommend? (especially quirky stuff, 2d, faster paced rpgs, racers, and puzzles)
Here's my list so far:

-Pepsiman
-Rayman 1 & 2
-MGS 1
-Super Gem Fighter
-Ape Escape

Also anything to avoid? Such as things that aged like milk and you couldn't get a modern child to play.

The closest game to a big boy pc game that I ever finished was spore (which I just finished again for no good reason), and it's a game made for widdle babies. Please recommend me strategy and or rpg PC classics that I'm sure to love, aren't too cumbersome, and stand the test of time insterad of being considered to be good just because of nostalgia.

Speech controls work fine nowadays. There's voice attack for elite dangerous is great for supplementing your other controls. So you can put power to your different systems without it affecting your maneuvering. Or you can engage docking automatically. Or you can enable speech to text and chat without typing. And it's customizable with macros and custom voice commands. Want to frame shift? Make it so.

And there's other examples of good microphone integration like Swat 4 and alien instinct. In swat you could yell at criminals to get on the ground and to tell your team where to move. Worked well. In alien instinct, the game uses the mic to tell the alien where you are and how scared you are.
