So, about the new Mary Jane and Keef game I'm making with Therm0. I'm about 50-60% done with the general production of the game (logic, assets, design...), and Therm0 already made like 90% of the soundtrack of the game. But the thing is that this is taking a LOT of work, and I'm a college student of a completely unrelated course. So I was thinking:

Can I and Therm0 even make money with this shit?
I mean, does anyone here even care about the game?
If you do, would you be willing to pay for it?
If I buy an ad in here for the game, will I have any chance of making money with it?
Should the game be free and with a donation link, or available for purchase?

I'm having some ideas, like adding a hub world, some slick cutscenes, some 3p1c bossfights. But before I do any of this I need to know if all of this work is even monetizable. If not, then I'll just crank out the game kind of half-assedly.

ALSO, THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME
YOU'RE NOT READY TO EXPERIENCE THIS GAME
YOU WILL DIE IMMEDIATELY IF YOU PLAY THIS GAME

Guys, this game is amazing.

https://www.gog.com/game/herou_rogue_to_redemption

It was made by the same people who made the original "Quest" games (Quest for Glory etc) and it's just great, albeit a bit simple.
The atmosphere, the story is really great, and the fact it's sort of a point and click rpg, plays out really well.
Can any of you recommend me more games like this? I only played the older adventure games like Syberia or Monkey Island before this one, and it's fucking great, with the modern game engine.

Also discuss this game here if you've played it, because there's nothing on the internet about this game, though what there is is almost all positive. It's really underrated, feels like an oldschool adventure game with modern UI etc.

I'm all for piracy but don't pirate this one. Corey and Lori Ann Cole had to take out a 2nd mortgage on their house to finance the game, they chewed up the crowdfunding capital halfway through the development cycle.
>>746071
Yep, that's really what kills the remake. The original is still the gold standard and the GOG build has the GK2K project (which added Windows 2000 support) baked in to it, so it works well enough on modern PCs.
Also I don't think it's possible in the remake to make your car drive off an icy road and die during the day 8/9 transition. I'm sure only like 2% of players saw that goof in the original, and probably none unintentionally, but it's the little details that matter. That's what the remake is missing, all the little flourishes, like Tim Curry's hilariously wrong attempt at a Louisiana accent. That and no Worf from Star Trek.

Idk man, the game overall is pretty good. It has to do with never playing the original as i said, but it's a good game in its own right. The only thing that's a little offputting is the weird southern accent Gabriel has. Like, I'm not even sure what to think about it. Wtf is that voice.

Then that should mean that Wesker spared absolutely no expense to get his hands on the G-Virus didn't he? I mean think about it Umbrella sent not one but 2 genetically enhanced Tyrants to hunt for Jill, Claire, and Leon. And they took it a step further by having both Tyrants be different from one another. Mr X is like a Prototype version of Nemesis who is a more perfected equivalent to Mr X. So they sent Nemesis who is the perfect Bio-Weapon to obsessively stalk after the harder to catch target that being Jill and Mr X the equally as dangerous but slower Bio-Weapon to slow down Claire and Leon's attempt to flee the city

Also the fact how William Burkin has turned himself into an Eldrich hellspawn something straight from Akira that keeps constantly mutating until he acquires so much gore and mass that he starts assimilating with the surrounding underground architecture

Get your words out of my mouth nigga. I will slap your shit to smithereens.
The in-game lore actually says the T-102 is as intellectually functional as a human.

There were not T-102s. There was one T-102 and some clones stolen by Wesker that have yet to be seen again.

Horizon: Zero Dawn. Just "Horizon" would suffice, I don't know why tons of games these days feel the need to add the subtitles. A Plague Tale: Innocence for example. Just A Plague Tale would sound much better
I'm sure this is mostly subjective taste but cmon not every game needs to be Dragon Quest 11 S Echos of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition (actual fucking title)

Well the last game was called red dead revolver, a game about a man named red who owns a custom, hand-crafted revolver. They put the word "dead" in the title because it rhymes.

Now red dead redemption follows a different character who is not named red, who is trying to atone for past crimes. That game does also have revolvers though.

I was having a bad time, but I'm fucking stupid, so I trusted the reviews and I assumed that it'd get good eventually. It never did. I wish epic games would give me money for playing this trash. Bioshock 2.

The ending was such absolute dogshit. I spared the black maid's life because she seemed mostly misguided in her attempts to kill me; and apparently because I spared her life the main antagonist (who I had really been looking forward to killing) was allowed to survive.

Was so mad that I refused to buy / play Bioshock Infinite.

You didn't miss out on much.

But hating a video game for the story seems strange. When I want a story I read a book or watch a movie. Stories in video games are mostly forgettable, written by hacks who couldn't publish in an industry that actually respects good storytelling. I can count the number of games with legitimately interesting stories on one hand. And even then I'd be hard-pressed.

Just play games as games and ignore the idiocy that passes for a storyline. Expect utter trash. You'll generally get it.

I'm a competitive[/b ]pokemon player, it is the highest stakes most intellectually stimulating vs experience in video games, it is done on pirate websites not the actual games so it is also fast paced, highly competitive, organized, with no barrier to entry other than strategy knowledge, and free

pokemon games suck ass though and they're never going to get better, gamefreak couldn't make a passable PS vita game, nintendo literally don't understand how to use the internet, it's never gonna take off or get better or move anywhere from here (even if the national dex shit is the best thing they've ever done to the game and the new meta already looks infinitely better than Xtreme landorus edition 7th gen)
DIGIMON games are better in almost every way except they're also barely video games, cyber sleuth is a visual novel with 1 boss fight per hour of reading text about going on food tours of tokyo, also not esports
does dragon quest monsters even have pvp??? has literally anyone ever even played those games? what else exists in the "forcing rare animals to fight for your amusement" game sphere?

so where the FUCK are the monster game esports? I can't be the only one who sees potential in this
here industry plants reading this take a business model for free

>take a franchise people care about, it could be almost anything as long as it has small creatures
>rip off pokemon stadium
>put in ladders and rankings for online play
>make people earn rental monsters with currency they get by playing online
>run seasonal events so people can earn rare monsters with new moves

the game itself is pretty slow and boring to watch though, that's part of the problem, with a better game with better flow, and a good commentator set up that can keep people following along with the decisions being made I don't see why other people couldn't too

People get excited by poker games and watch streams of all sorts. I don't think it's something that can become self funding professional unless the top level sport energises the lower tiers or feeds in from them and those are a revenue stream.

A lot of it is hype and knowing your audience and how big it can truly be. The real issue is that unlike say MTG or poker you can't get a good revenue stream off lower tier players and encouraging pros doesn't help. I played a bit of MTG arena and enjoyed it, I was good enough as F2P that I could beat a lot of people but that model has lots of in app purchases that work in a way pokemon doesn't. It allows people like me to feed the whales and still enjoy themselves.

So, there are some guys I know who are trying to convince me, I should finally try Path of Exile, since I am totally burned and disappointed by Diablo 3.

But I am really not sure, since my rather slow internet takes maybe 6 hours to download,
and I am not sure if its worth my time.

Many years ago I tried maybe an hour of the game, and it was totally laggy, buggy and not nearly as fluid and addicting as Diablo 2 or Torchlight. The style was barebones and unappealing to me, everything played and looked like a bad beta of a game that tried to be a bad DIablo-Clone.

Did it get any better?

Why is it free? Whats the catch? And if I decide to spend money on (stash? inventory-space? Character-slots?), is it disproportionately more than paying for a 10.- copy of Diablo 2 ?

Do I even need to pay money to have fun with this game?

Can you play Coop? How good is the Coop-Play?

Whats your opinion?

Anyone still plays it? Anyone stopped playing it?
Whats your experience?

Who else is gonna be checking out Obsidian's new RPG, The Outer Worlds, later today?

You can get the Xbox Game Pass for a whopping 1 dollar and play the game for a month to see if its worth buying. That should be long enough to beat the game tbh.

I hear the combat is pretty mediocre but it has lots of good dialogue options and multiple ways to tackle every quest.

Well I did say it probably works there. But for most other games having a "your skill is high enough" system is more satisfying for me. Where the game incrementally moves you closer to the goal with each pass rather than just "the door shuts or opens" then that would work. But for most modern shooter RPGs it simply doesn't do the job.

I play tabletop and skill checks work there because players can think of their own ways to solve problems and those skills become relevant. I could rant for a while about good practice but the point is that you can give them consequences beyond "this door is now shut to you" for fucking up. And they can find enough ways to make those skills relevant. That and it's 5th edition so they don't have to choose between skills and combat too often.

Disco elysium is now on my "when this is on sale" list. If November wasn't such an expensive month for me I'd be tempted to get now but if I buy it later I won't buy another game and I'm a tightwad/trying to save money.

You guys ever play space station 13?
It's seeing another resurgence recently due to a bunch of youtubers doing video on it.
I recently got back into it after a 5 year hiatus.
Man has it gotten wild and deep.

It's a 2d top down sort of space station simulator that plays like trouble in terrorist town meets dwarf fortress with slightly better graphics and more clowns.

I've been playing bay12 and fulpstation alot. I like the away missions on bay 12. I ussualy play early in the morning so I can practice jobs and not ruin peoples day.
