Which games do you think are the most OVER rated?

Deus Ex was never that good

Mass Effect 2 I didnt even know was supposed to be good. That game was a real steaming pile of shit and proof that you don't need to make good games, only get the combined forces of soulless corporate power with casting couch Hollywood agents.

Anything Bethesda had to do with Fallout

>Do you really not understand why anybody would enjoy anything about Journey?

I'm judging it as a video game. From that perspective, no I don't understand why anyone would like such an awful game where the main mechanic is just holding forward to keep walking. I understand some people might like it because it's "art" or whatever, but you could tape a banana to a wall and call that art so that doesn't really mean much.

It's like people don't understand that you might want some gameplay in your game. Even death stranding has more gameplay, and it's still a walking simulator.

I think we should differentiate between games and interactive movies. Games involve challenges that must be overcome in order to progress. Interactive movies simply require you to make a decision or press a button in order to continue. Here's a half decent litmus test: If an autofire controller can complete the media in question, it is not a game.

i got a 32gb card in mine and i pretty much loaded it up with emus, roms, ps1 games, ISOs & some custom software. 15mb left. can't find a 64gb card anywhere online. not sure if they are a myth or not. micro sd cards are slow and the adapters would make them even slower. fuck microsd.

PSPs ftw! anyone else still use a hacked PSP?

When the game take control away from your character in order to make you watch a struggle scene.

Enemies taking a swing at you and hits EVEN THOUGH it's clear the hit didn't connect.

Inability to change difficulty mid game.

Loading screens for fully rendered main menus (???)

You guys got some more?

Most of what I play on it these days wouldn't really benefit from an SSD, like the remastered Yakuza games and the Jak trilogy. And stuff that would benefit from it I either play on PC, or is God of War and Horizon:ZD, and I've already played through those.

So i played a few games of Smash at a friends and it seems like a cool game i'd like to play a little more since i never got to play the smash games when i was younger.

Is buying a switch worth it right now or should i wait for the price to drop further since i'm kinda broke? Which other games beside BotW can I look forward to trying?

I already have a wii which i modded to emulate pretty much any old game i want so i'm not desperate to upgrade for that purpose.

Thread for vastly underrated and underappreciated video games. It doesn't necessarily have to be a masterpiece but definitely one that never got its due.

Torment Tides of Numenera
Because it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played and I can only imagine people didn't like it because they're illiterate fags and children

Fallout Tactics
It had a lot wrong with it from the standpoint of Fallout which seems so innocent and naive in hindsight of Bethesda but it was hands down one of the best tactical games I ever played in my life. It even had the great general ambience of the originals but looks better. All it needed was a non-linear story and being an actual rpg.

Satellite Reign
As a fan of the original Syndicate this game was amazing. Controls took time getting used to but once you're in a groove it's pretty awesome. I just wish it didn't rely on "clones" which weirdly cheapens everything.

Wasteland 2
This game is literally Fallout 3. Bethesda 3 having the IP is irrelevant. It's like leaving Disney and EA in charge of Star Wars. It's nothing but another company doing a Fallout themed or Star Wars themed reskin of their bullshit. Wasteland 2 is the actual Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 is due to release this spring.

Fighter's Destiny is a weird cross between fighting games and actual martial arts sports sim, its got a round and point based system like olympic wrestling or karate that gives you judges points for different takedowns, submissions and combos

For me, WCW/nWo Revenge is my favorite wrestling game since I grew up with it (I bought the game in Blockbuster’s used games section and still got the numbered sticker on it) and I really liked being able to change wrestlers’ costumes and names as well as the gameplay being so much easier and less frustrating than WWF Warzone, which I had gotten for Xmas prior to getting Revenge but its controls were frustrating and convoluted as fuck to play.

>>749531
Yeah Fighter’s Destiny’s points system is karate-based. Like putting aside the lack of originality with its characters (although the fact you can play as a cow is funny) and its gameplay not being that good, I thought that its points based system made it stand out from a lot of other fighting games that use just knockout and ring-out rules and I’m surprised other fighting games haven’t taken that different approach Fighter’s Destiny tried.

It works pretty well coop but it's a really cruel punishing game and you will have to fail your head against a brick wall repeatedly until you can break through the next unforseen buttfucking. I played with a friend for a while and it was cool but while you might have time to sink dozens of hours into gitting good and your friend might, having both of these overlap is usually a rarer commodity. Couples tend to synch up better but you might still find this sometimes. Dinvinity 1 and 2 were a lot of fun. Tactician was pretty hard going on 2 but we managed it. We did have to cheese a couple of fights. I think the final boss would have taken about 4 or 5 90-120 minute attempts if we hadn't used the green tea on the second try.

Also some relationships are strong enough to thrive on that but even if they're that strong, you both have to actually be into that sort of gameplay. It's not something everyone enjoys.

You ever play a game where the world is just so comfy, and the characters you meet are all so interesting that you just get super attached to them, and by the time you beat the game you feel legitimately sad to have to say goodbye?

Most games I can easily shelf when I'm done with them, but there's some that I just never want to leave. I'm thinking of places like Psychonaut's Whispering Rock or Clock Town in Majora's Mask. Or my parties in Chrono Trigger, Undertale, or CrossCode. Finishing those games feels just feels like moving away from home or losing a family member. Anyone else ever get that feel?

Someone must have tried making a game where you can just chat with npcs about anything and they'd respond accordingly, like iOS siri or alexa or something. Or would it be too ambitious to implement it on a videogame? What game has the most impressive AI?

I thought it seemed pretty obvious that's not what the OP meant, but it's very relevant and worth discussing.

For me graphics are very important. I absolutely prefer realism in all aspects. I want to play a realism simulator where I just live a life and go to work and do everything I do in real life exactly as I would in real life but not real life and then I won't know what real life is anymore because it's just a simulation and we only know what isn't real because it's lower quality.
