>Granblue Fantasy Versus is a fighting game based on the characters and world from the mobile game, which is sort of a lite JRPG for battles and a VN for story elements

Granblue Fantasy Versus confirmed for North American release. XSEED publishing it so that means an uncensored PC version is guaranteed. They always do PC ports and they always uncensor them.

The game is being localized internally by Cygames, they're just using Xseed for distribution because they don't have any offices in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if the European release is by a company unrelated to Marvelous.

Grinding is any slightly repetitive action that's required in a game in order to advance. If it's endless clicking that's probably the nadir of grind. Intelligent grind gives you some challenges in order to maximize its efficacy, but also allows you to grind like a moron if you want to. The earlier Dragon Quest games are good examples of this. They offer pretty thoughtfully-crafted risk vs reward in your grind, and you always have the option to try your luck in a harsher area.

In an intelligent grind game, ideally almost the entire world should be open to you from the beginning, but only your pitiful level and possibly poor tactics prevent you from traveling further.

Do you guys like roguelikes? I'm not much of a gamer anymore, these are by and large the only games I play unless a friend wants to do something in some online game. Sometimes I also like building games, mostly modded minecraft, but that's not what this thread is about.

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is my favorite at the moment and by far the one I'm the best at. Anyone else play it? I've got a dozen or so wins after a couple years of playing here and there but consistently for months at a time. I'm trying to get a 15 rune win before I move onto another roguelike but for my sanity I might just settle for 8 or more because 7 is my current best. I think I'll move onto either getting back into Nethack or finally cracking Dwarf Fortress after this.

This is my current character for anyone who plays this game. Got through all of the dungeon, lair, orcish mines, swamp, and snake pit and now I'm trying to figure out what the best course of action is. Depths has a ridiculous pack of monsters right off the bat so I just noped out. I cleared about half of Vaults:1 before I ran into a pack of huge ugly things and almost died. Might go back there because I think depths is a little too hard for me right now as it is. Not my usual order but oh well.

Ok drops so far, the lajatang of order will come in handy in the abyss which I plan on getting in and out of as fast as possible, Going for polearms and a +11 bardiche of speed with 20 polearms is gonna be tough to beat I think but I don't really know I've never found one before. Going for a balance of AC and EV which I also haven't tried before but so far is better than just focusing one or the other, at least for now. I have 10 in throwing which is enough to use nets decently if need be. Next thing I need to train is invocations, I'm not sure after that, I need ranged so I might as well get back into throwing, I haven't really put a lot into int yet so I might go with evocations over spells for the time being but I don't think I'll ever be a formidable caster of anything even into extended, but who knows, maybe going with medium armor will make casting more viable.

Angband or a fork is on my bucket list as well. I've just barely heard of Infra Arcana so I'll have to look into it.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about DCSS? A lot of people don't like it for a lot of different reasons. I like it because it's fairly accessible and streamlined while not being too easy and still having substance, in my opinion. It does have its problems though.

Can you play planescape on your new pc? Because my windows 8 pc doesnt. It doesnt play star/warcraft or diablo or baldurs gate. And I have the discs for all of those, they still dont work. Went to a pc store and they were like "newer pcs dont usually run games from before 2002". And thats fucking bullshit. The only old game my pc plays is fallout 1/2. Which is cool, but id like to be able to play all those other games. Oh and morrowind on pc has no controller support without 3rd party programs, fuck that shit. I also dont really care for rts's or games like Xcom and civilization really, crpgs yea but most of those are on console. And how much does it cost to keep upgrading your computer every year? I asked around at a couple computer store on how much a pc that runs witcher 3 would be, $500. 100 bucks more than a 1tb ps4, plus id have to buy a nice pc controller and speakers, and I still wouldnt be able to play starcraft or baldurs gate. And you didnt answer my question of when PC will have red dead redemption 2. I also prefer the console exclusives to pc exclusives, but thats a matter of preference. Pcs are only good to me for emulation. How else am I going to play translated ps2 roms?

solo its very boring, MP if you have some friends who like this kind of game is good

in the current build the only interesting game mode to play is 6 months later which they call "the recommended zomboid experience" no water no power and very rare drops and very rare/damaged cars, this seems to be the only balanced game mode with a challenge

all i do is, get a car go north, raid all country houses. that food will run out in under 3 months then use all your ammo and weapons fighting into town areas for more skillbooks or food etc

longest time survived 2 years on regular game mode nearly 1 year on hardcore i tend to reply every 6 months to see how the game is progressing

I always play Deus Ex trying to mimic The Major's powers from Ghost in the Shell, since this game is like a ramshackle American version of that movie where YOU are the morally questionable philosophizing cybernetic G-man. JC and Kusanagi even both merge with an AI at the end. Invisibility, super speed / jumping, and enhanced lifting strength are the most important ones, then you can get around every level in ways you're not supposed to and snipe everyone through the windows while invisible. Kick ass.

I played it when it came out and it was like nothing that existed at the time.

It still gives a sense of mystery and complexity most games lack. There was a lot of thought out into it.

The ending bit gets a little tedious, though.

What even is my life about anymore? I used to love getting lost in a fantasy world losing all sense of time and now I just can't do it. I can't enjoy games anymore. The few times I do have a free afternoon I don't even bother trying because I don't know when my next free hours will be. I cant enjoy a game if I am constantly looking at the clock thinking "Ok I better start getting ready for bed I have work early tomorrow."
I don't even have weekends anymore because I got a girlfriend (and who could have predicted that?) and when shes not available I have a backlog of adulating shit I need to get done.

I haven't seriously played a game in nearly a year. I can't even enjoy casual bullshit phone games because it's all full of "GIVE US MONEY" bait which just ruins it. I wanna be fucking lost in a fantasy not thinking about my fucking empty ass bank account.

Whenever I do end up with free time now a days I just watch a movie or some shit.

So who will be playing the re release? I will. I'm a fan of multiple genres and anyone who doesn't agree that world of Warcraft is historically one of the top 20 to 30 video games of all time missed the boat. Nows your chance. They're actually saying it's gonna be better this time around because of more timely content release and not the burning crusade ending the relevancy of azeroth so quick and also due to better tech (got like 10 to 20 fps in vanilla Wow. Should we start a guild? The last 420chan guild was "felweed dealers"?

I mean, even though all of the incentives are there, compared to more recent games Classic WoW is not all that much of a goal-oriented game.

Sure, sometimes you're grinding a bar to grind a bar and get a thing, which has become the toxic hallmark of literally every goddamn game these days. But most of the time you're just playing the game to play the game and you get big rewards when you get them.

For the most part you don't really even want to hit the end because you lose a lot of options for keeping the game fun at that point. If you've got a whole guild of people who want to speed run Naxx and stuff for records that'll keep you going forever but that means pulling together 40 people of a pretty niche mindset.

For Vanilla WoW just take your time. It's the best way to play the game.

some people use alts to play different classes while playing their mains so that the leveling/endgame stays somewhat fresh for them. so maxing everything is the end but its not the end all be all for a majority of the players

raiding back then was very niche because you had to herd 40 people for one common goal and not may want to go though that hassle

One big difference between Vanilla and Retail is that if you want to do hardcore or competitive raiding you NEED alts.

If you want to do hardcore or competitive raiding on Vanilla, sure, some people are going to have to reroll over time, but for the most part and for a very long time you CAN'T have alts if you want to play at that level.

Hitting Rank 1 PvP is even more of a commitment to one character.

Granted, you can hedge your bets by dual-boxing a paladin/warrior or some other combo and they'll boost the hell out of each other at leveling speed, then unsub one of your accounts according to need.

Depending how employed I am and how much time I can commit on launch month, I might do the double account thing just because I'm indecisive about whether I want to play Warrior or hybrid Tank/Heal druid. I'm definitely still gonna take my time though. With my luck I'll end up with a full-time job by the end of the summer and no frigging time.
Whatever, in that case I'll be able to afford to pad out the Classic subscription numbers without breaking a sweat, and since forcing Blizz to acknowledge that Classic's design philosophy isn't inferior to Retail's is a moral imperative, I'm perfectly okay with that.

If we can get Classic to rival retail in player numbers and retention they'll have to walk back their cancerous skinnerbox loot treadmill trivial waste-of-content bullshit they won't stop adding to BFA.

What are your favorite driving and/our racing games, /vg/?

I don't play them super often and couldn't give less of a shit about it in real life, but occasionally I'll go on a Rally or F1 kick (and have been known to dip into truckin' sims now and then). Lately alternating between F1 2017 and Motorsport Manager, and am looking for other good stuff I might've missed during my long hiatuses. Doesn't have to be sims, but I feel like arcadey stuff with a super straightforward driving model tends to be less engaging for me overall. Or at least, I need a decent singleplayer career mode with a good sense of progression. I imagine taking the plunge into multiplayer would probably be more interesting in the long run since you can always find little ways to cheese an AI, but I worry I'd just ruin the race for everyone by not following the intricate and unspoken rules of the road, such as "don't drive like an enormous shitbag"
