It's out now on Epic Games' store and Rarbg.to.

I'd share an opinion, but I literally just started.

Indies made a lot of hay on the Switch early on but the eshop's curation and discovery is actually really bad and they're starting to have the same problems as steam of being buried underneath the flood of crap. Though they're still generally outselling steam, I suspect mostly cause people who own a switch and a computer would rather have their games on the switch.

I really just want two sections on steam: the curated games, and the shovelware. Hell even let the shovelware become part of the "this is an actual game" part of the store if it gets enough, reviews or sales, or something. Let them keep the usual policy just don't meep clogging the fuck out of the entire store site to the point where it's impossible to navigate because theres a billion shitty ass games on there that fucking no one but friends of the dev is actually ever going to play. It's just pushing all this more and more onto phoneshit because at least then someone might actually see the game. There is simply no quality control on Steam is the thing.

actually you're supposed to cut the top off the four loko can and dip the microwave burrito in that. the nacho sauce you just eat with a spoon as a side dish.

I can tell you from experience you're not supposed to do that. You can try dipping a chocolate bar in the 4Loko but why the fuck would you waste money on a chocolate bar that could be spent instead on more 4Loko? Plus why would you mix 4Loko with a highly absorbent food at that point when you need the extra stomach space to absorb it faster?

The thing about eating it with a spoon is true though. It's a delicious and concentrated form of calories and possibly nutrients.

Personally I prefer the first System Shock. The fact that they whole “Cyber space” is missing from it was a big let down for me. I didn’t feel like the chemistry stuff that you had to do was up to par with what we got in the first System Shock. The fights were a lot more intense and the horror element of the game felt more pronounced. Especially the last boss, The UI made a world of difference to me, I didn’t feel like much of a cyborg in the SS2.I know some people felt disappointed with the the boss but i felt it fit the idea. if you wanna kill an A.I you gotta do it in Cyberspace
System Shock isn’t a bad game by any means but I feel about it the same as Bioshock 2.

What IS[/b] a videogame? Are walking simulators like proteus (that game where you just walk around seeing nice things with no objective and no story or anything) videogames? Because I mean, if these art thingies are considered videogames, then why can't benchmarks where you're free to just look around and listen to the benchmark music (like unigine heaven) be considered videogames? And what about sandbox interactive things, like minecraft (before the dragon was introduced) or wii music that have complex mechanics, but no rules or win states and you make your own fun?

Hmmm, technically, anyone should be equally able to release an OPN2 keyboard. Or to the contrary, Yamaha would be most capable. They'd have to have an agreement with trademark holders to use the likeness of any genesis-iconic characters , although more clever and abstract aesthetic echoing shouldn't have any such issue.

Talkin FM chips now here's someone I like!

The Yamaha Reface DX is as close as I imagine they'd get. Like the Sega Consoles which used the OPN chips, there is not an incredible demand for modern recreations.

Or you could do one of those cool midi mods to a genesis.

Retro-bit seems to be facing some issue with Californian proposition 65 warnings. It sounds like one of those things where there's an issue of being able to afford lawyers to establish that they are in compliance, with bigger companies enjoying being able to handle the expense comforably, while those not moving the volume required to make this worth it for them getting bitten by this regulation, made worse by the fact that close-to-anyone can bring a product into question about compliance with this standard, making it appealing for competitors to call for this scary warning being put on their products.

>>733930
Errrrrrrr....

To be honest, my head is spinning a somewhat getting a sense of how utilizing those would go...

I do wonder if I'd be able to just take a master system FM sound module and hook it up to the GPIO on any of those ARM SBCs. Hmmm, not too confident about that. Not to mention wonderring if master system FM sound modules today are authentic, though they probably are accurate enough for actually using it with the original console.

I'm pretty daunted about having to use an arduino, and needing a purpose-built FM chip board. Eeeeep. I'm even less eager about untangling what using a sound expansion module for those unusual Japanese computer types would involve.

Well, on the more accessible side...

I had come across gobs of old sound cards. I was pathetically ignorant about those then though, so I didn't even know that soundblaster AWE32s actually have neat advantages versus AWE64s, and that it's their even older relatives that have the authentic Yamaha chips. Nevermind actually having a clue about the post-OPL yamaha chips that combined FM synth with newer things...
...some context here: >>734221

I guess what would be really useful in using those would be a mini-ITX board, with like a VIA nano; that probably would have to be more like ancient C3 for ISA, availability of later ones seems to have dwindled anyway. Or maybe old atom boards with PCI(non-express). Or even vortex86 based.

There was a short era of PC gaming where 3DFX dominated the landscape. Plenty of DOS games supported 3DFX GLIDE as their only form of 3D acceleration as it was the earliest to come out and hit the consumer market in force.

Now you could just run them in Dosbox at such simulated speeds that the software rendering is FASTER than your Voodoo card but there is a certain segment of collector nerds who want to play on period-appropriate hardware. Down to the speed of the CD-ROM and the vintage of the sound card, these people want the quintessential 199X PC experience.

So even though 3DFX's lead in the market was only a couple of years, they did have some exclusivity during that time and anyone who wants a fully restored tip-top shape period correct 1996/1997/1998 PC probably wants one.

Voodoo cards did extend beyond this period but by then all the games supported either DirectX or OpenGL as well as GLIDE and you can just get yourself an appropriate nVidia/ATI card instead.
3DFX's performance advantage completely disappeared by 2000 with the GeForce 2 and first Radeon coming to market.

Uh oh, looks like there's some slightly dangerous confusion here calling for alleviation.

I do not mean to glorify 3dfx cards at all, but there is a big contrast at play here, there's a range of different cards, and having been extremely aggressively pushed into serving a range of parts of such sorts, I'll declare that there's two iconic cards to take note of, Voodoo1, and 1st generation Radeons. That may sound like an ugly exageration, and, yes, it was more varied up, but it's more illustrative picking out two big ones.

The thing with these 7000 series Radeons was just how common they were, or had shown themselves to be. I've literally seen them piled up. I mean, there were lots of piles of things, cause some people can't stand letting things go to waste. I guess, kinda, I don't know, I'm bewildered by the mentality of those looking so eagerly at "those people" who they see having surplus computers, and even moreso at their need for a process to with which to virtually reprocess computers at a certain pace which they never could never actually be true to, like with everything about what they did. Some parts of it makes sense, like tossing out a a thirdth of computers two put three sticks of ram into one, but then other things were stupid, like intensely hoarding williamette CPUs and the like, while throwing out more useful things.

So, you had all these piles and piles of old radeons, that were not really good for anything other than old games. And, matchingly, there were lots of excess machines, with excess ram in sizes too small to be useful for even a web browsing and word processing machine, but that would still be good for games if filled into all DIMM slots. Loasds of network cards too to assure problem free ones.

Alltogether, it wouldn't even be a big deal to hook together a LAN of at least 4 machines.

That's what you'd be looking at if you just wanted to play really old windows games, and/or wanted to make appreciative use of old hardware, and/or wanted to try multiplayer with games that suffered from netcode and bandwith not really having cutting it. I mean you could look past it, but you would have a front-of-the-pile option like that.

And then there's the original Voodoo cards. Something with generally less obvious praticality, and somewhat more hassle. The voodoo rush cards would probably get considered as authentically original, the biggest issue with them would be compatibility issues. And I guess a pair of Voodoo2s would also be considered purely retro-authentic, it was the original over-the-top way of extravagantizing your gaming machine ... but then, actually trying it would probably only delude you about how inaccessible it actually was.

Then you have in-between cards like Voodoo Banshe and Voodoo3, actually practical and compatible with Glide games. And, it would actually be expectable to find some Banshes and Voodoo 1000s scavenged from common computers from that time period before integrated video became a thing. Still not as common as those old Radeons though, like 9200se(almost the same, newer but gimped)
