I got the platinum for Sekiro on PS4, might be the hardest gave I've completely beaten. I beat DS1 and 3 but I didn't really consider those difficult and a little over-hyped. 2 beat me because its main difficulty is being boring

I Wanna Be The Guy might be another contender

Anyone else addicted?

Game-mechanics are great and addicting, sweet controls and weapons.
Wallrunning, stealth, abilities and a card-deck-level-system.

Cool worldmap, slick graphics-style.

I like adventure and exploration, but ain't nobody got time for that. Loved it when I was a child I had all the time in the world, and my time was worthless! I used to be PISSED when a squeal to my favorite franchise came out and it was dumbed down, but shit now I get it!

Bitch I work 40+ hours a week and have other things to do outside of that, when I get time to sit my ass down and play a game I don't want to waste hours because I didn't see a switch hidden in a corner or some bullshit. I don't wanna have to reload a save from hours ago because turns out that I can't go back and get that thing I missed. So I look up guides and tutorials every chance I get, I don't mind when a game gives me a easy puzzle with the solution literally shoved in my face. If I have to spend more then a minute trying to solve a puzzle I just whip out the ol' internet and google a guide.

This is why Breath of the Wild is so fucking popular, sure its not as good as the old Zelda's with their full on dungeons but I can be in and out of a Shrine in a couple of minutes whereas going into a dungeon blind can take an hour or more. I mean shit, this shrine too tough for you? Fuck it go find another one. Maybe come back later, maybe don't.

Thoughts, opinions?

This depends on genre, looking for the neddle in the haystack is not on everyone's taste as such adventure games have to limit themselves to exactly how big the possibility space is. Take a zachtronics game, infinifactory or opus magnum for example, these are puzzle games meant to challenge you mentally, looking up the solution undermines the whole game thusly dumbing them down would drive away the audience.

If you want to be able to make incremental progress every time you pick up a game, but can only do so once a week and for 2-3 hours at a time, you're gonna get frustrated when you forget the key piece of information needed to progress which you were told a month ago. So I don't blame you for either looking at a wiki, or wanting to play "dumbed down" games given the constraint.

I don't know though, I'm in a similar position to you - I have work now and not a lot of free time. But when I pick up a game I definitely enjoy being challenged somehow, either through problem solving or mechanical mastery. On some level it is nice to be able to turn my brain off and just play through a pretty fantasy world, but for me that loses its appeal very quickly if there's no challenge; I just get bored and feel like there's no point in trudging through the rest of it. When you play enough games, certain things just became way too obvious

My Summer Car is really slept on as an immersive sim. It’s not just for people who like cars. One of my all time favorites and there are a shitload of mods that add to the immersion. Such a great game. You might wonder how a game this ugly can be immersive but trust me.

Also thanks Russia for delaying/canning Stalker 2.

So I bought this from Humble. (Still a couple days left.)

Reviews on Steam are currently mixed, I think because there's no crossplay and it's impossible to find a match until that's released in a month or two.

But the fighting in this game is actually really polished. They've kept a lot of the Smash feel and then added their own touches.

One thing I like is no rolling except as a tek after getting hit (popup/roll). Also, air dash is possible but in just one direction. Smash has gotten too complicated and this aims to be easier for kids to pick up and have fun with. They've hit the nail on the head with that. Just need to round out the interface.

Anyway, in case anyone else wasn't sure, yes, this is good, and it's continually in development so it's gonna get better. Though it may get stomped by the free Playstation Smash clone coming out soon. I think that's why they released too early without crossplay, because they needed to get out ahead of that. Sad stuff. Voices coming soon too tho.

by the way, don't play videogames while listening to podcasts, this shit will fry your brain cells and make you miserable

I tried Ys origin but it was a little too much action for my taste. I did like Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.It had a persona feel to it with the social interactions and repetitive dungeon crawling. The characters were a lot of fun too. Had good chemistry.

Origins is probably the most accessible Ys. Oath of Fealhgana is sort of tied to leveling (as in if you didn't grind to level x you will struggle a lot) and the classic games are similar, so origins is probably the only one really worth playing.

yes. fact that valve recently made hf:a (and it was a massive success) to me means that they're willing to take the franchise forward. but I think it'll take forever for them to start making it, because I think that Gabe is probably waiting for some kind of technological breakthrough in order to make make hl3 with it in mind. maybe a VR tech breakthrough, or maybe even a brain interface breakthrough(!!!!!!!!), because Gabe seems very excited about brain interfaces (look it up)

Ending of HL:A has a hints to it blatantly, but we don't know if that's official or just the devs throwing the fans a bone. Remember Valve has a weird company structure and if a project doesn't have that little extra they'll drop it dead. We're lucky HL:A even got released.

That's not true, they actually did vastly improve their engine since fallout 76 (youtube.com/watch?v=9iFmrK1_5gs&t=28m04s). But it's understandable that you'd have this misconception, considering how awful their recent output has been. It might sound like I'm inhaling fatal levels of copium, but I really believe that bethesda isn't unsalvageable yet like blizzard or konami, and I think that the reason why fallout 76 was so underdeveloped was because of their focus on starfield.

I have a mouse with 6 buttons and I never use any of them

The DPI is great, though, and that's all that's really important. Everyone should honestly use a decent gaming mouse just for the improved tracking. Plus a decent large-surface mousepad.
