We've all heard the rumors, but it's official. The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC. When and how much will it be? Who fucking knows, but it's coming to Steam and the Windows store.

My former weed guy spends tons on this mafia phone game. He doesn't have a good job, doesn't make a lot off of weed but god damn he'll conquer that shit.

Spent like 1300 bucks in it and that's not even talking about his girlfriend.

They're both like 40. I can't tell'm no but godamn, seems like a waste.

Years ago I spent in total like 150 bucks on TF2 cosmetics over the course of a couple years so I'm not totally innocent.

This made me feel better about myself lol. Haven't spent that much though.

The most I spent was around 200$ in Planetside2, mostly on unique weapons, armor, and perks. Not the best player by far but it made my experience more enjoyable... plus one of them came with a 6month experience boost that I have yet to activate.

I spent 30$ in the original Dead Frontier zombie MMO a long time ago cause I couldn't get an 8th of bud. I got this titanium sword that can be used at level 1 with no melee skill required, thus allowing me to focus my character build on machine guns and explosives and making starting up a breeze. Then temporarily traded the sword to myself on other accounts to make a bunch of level10 farmer slaves with which to provide my main account more wealth and resources.

Another time same situation, couldn't get weed so I bought some bonds (can be redeemed for 14days membership or sold for gold) in Runescape. Used some for in game cash and still have the rest.

99cents on a mobile game for a skeleton skin. Think it was that Forgotten Tales MMO, then after buying it everyone in game kept offering me in game cash to buy a skin hah. Quit playing it though, boring grindfest... Runescape atleast has a social environment.

That's all I can recall as far as MTX. Planetside was worth it, Carapace and Bionics perks make for some unique class builds and the unique weapons and armor are really cool, cannot be unlocked unless bought. Plus I have a plasma laser cannon on my tank and car now.

When I got my first job I spent maybe $60 a month on a TPS I really enjoyed, spending that money on their ingame lottery to win equipment with the best stats that lasted forever and looked good, totaling up about $300. I should note the 'best' was only maybe 3-5% better than what you could get through ingame currency at 1/50 the cost, but there were unique cosmetic options from the lottery as well.

Then the developers added a cash shop where you can rent equipment with even better stats for more money, and changed the gameplay to have a much lower skill floor, and changed the way my permanent items I spent money for worked so it cost more to use them than you could win by playing. The cash shop best was now 20-30% better than what you could get ingame across all stats including things like increased movement speed which totally broke the game.

After that I've been pretty wary about putting money into any sort of online game that's still being updated and I certainly don't put any money into online PvP games. I did put money into a mobile game I was playing a lot later on, but I had played that game hundreds of hours in a situation where I couldn't play traditional games, I felt I got some entertainment for the money I put in, though I stopped playing the game after a point and the power creep was relentless, making the things I earned not good enough for any new content.

I don't mind mtx if it's only for cosmetics. When you start being able to buy weapons or stats that turns me off right quick.

Even then, I think of a particular example of pushing cosmetic mtx, in Maplestory there is an early quest that gives you a helmet that is essentially the best piece of equipment for your head slot for the next 50 levels. It is goddamn ugly as shit, it is literally the severed head of the quest enemy. But! You can buy a cash shop hat that will go over any other hat while keeping it's stats, so obviously you want to cover that shit up because to just not use the quest reward would severely cripple your ability for the next 30+ hours of gameplay. The worst part is cosmetics in MS are only rentals.

I've been sucked into Morrowind for the first time. A friend has been easing me into the "high fantasy" genre I used to not like, played DnD for a bit and then he said Elder Scrolls is basically DnD in a game. Morrowind and Oblivion were on sale so I got them.

I'm a total noob playing on -100 difficulty but still it's amazing, but you all knew that 20 years ago.

Since Bethesda made Arena and Daggerfall free I've been thinking of going even further back in time to play those too. Some things sound really appealing - Arena's randomly generated dungeons and Daggerfall's sheer size. But I've also been warned they are extremely hard and so old and outdated there's kind of no point.

Anyone here like those games? What do you think, tell me about them.

I played through Arena once doing a play through of all of them in order but it really wasn't worth it. Daggerfall though I still play on a semi-regular basis, although I play Morrowind quite a bit more since I think it hits that sweet spot between complexity and streamlined playing, plus mods.

The thing I like about both Morrowind and Daggerfall is they're more like fever dreams or a trip than trying to just be kind of a cookie cutter "the dark ages but with magic and elves" like Arena, Oblivion, and Skyrim are. Granted the lore IS still quite a bit more interesting than almost any other fantasy game that comes to mind, at least ones that aren't based on existing IPs. But both Morrowind and Daggerfall have this very eerie vibe to them that I really like.

For what it's worth I also really enjoy ESO and don't get mad at the lore because literally all of actual history is conflicting accounts and misunderstandings anyway, I don't particularly give a shit about consistency as long as there aren't any sort of wild deviations which I find few in ESO that can't be explained away with "it was a long ass times ago, things were different back then".

Virtual reality and cannabis is the drug I've been looking for my whole life, it just blows my mind, even simple games that aren't that entertaining becomes entertaining when I vape, VR & weed is so incredibly amazing! these cartoons will start talking to me I'll just sit there grinning and laughing at all the random events in virtual reality, they are not actually cartoons but are people in Altspace, Vrchat, Rec virtual reality and weed is everything I've ever wanted.

I get to go to things that I probably would be too paranoid in real life to go to while high, like the other night in Altspace, I went to an alcoholics anonymous meeting I'm not even a alcoholic but I just went anyways, and I was sitting there grinning blowing my mind, it was just hilarious to me, not the alcohol anonymous people, by seeing these cartoons was really funny.

Is Path of Exile the true Diablo 3?

So, there are some guys I know who are trying to convince me, I should finally try Path of Exile, since I am totally burned and disappointed by Diablo 3.

But I am really not sure, since my rather slow internet takes maybe 6 hours to download,
and I am not sure if its worth my time.

Many years ago I tried maybe an hour of the game, and it was totally laggy, buggy and not nearly as fluid and addicting as Diablo 2 or Torchlight. The style was barebones and unappealing to me, everything played and looked like a bad beta of a game that tried to be a bad DIablo-Clone.

Did it get any better?

Why is it free? Whats the catch? And if I decide to spend money on (stash? inventory-space? Character-slots?), is it disproportionately more than paying for a 10.- copy of Diablo 2 ?

Do I even need to pay money to have fun with this game?

Can you play Coop? How good is the Coop-Play?

Whats your opinion?

Anyone still plays it? Anyone stopped playing it?
Whats your experience?

nah it isn't.

I've been thinking about trying it again for months, but I dread the thought of boring levels and progression-blockers.

PoE ruined ARPGs for me. The progression is slow, every new area makes you question your build, drops are really inconsistent and unsatisfying. Especially when you try to get a perfect build.

You have many, many ways to build your character, but mostly only 3 - 4 builds are really effective.

I admire the devs for what they created. There are so many cool ideas in this game,
but it plays way too slow and without a constant flow.

Played some internet-based local coop to test this out last night.

Games tested: Gangbeasts; Duck Game; Ultimate Chicken Horse

Voice chat: Reasonably high quality, "just werks" out of the box. Echo cancelling is not very good, so plan to use headphones. Never dropped out. Sometimes game volume was far too loud; keeping games at 5-10% volume or totally off in some situations worked best. However, even when the game was running, it's critical to say again that voice chat never cut out once. It was always there, seamless, from our group chat right into the game.

Connecting: You need to be friends in order to use the feature. Start the game, right click and select Invite to Remote Gay Together. One friend was able to join immediately and select his controller. Other had a problem where I had to cancel the invite and then reinvite every time we played a new game.

Latency: This is what everyone's wondering about. Is this playable with high levels of precision? When Remote Play Together launched with Cuphead as the flagship title, people balked. There's no way the input could be that good.

We were connecting from the US, Canada and Japan. This would be a proper test of how well controls responded. To put it bluntly: when it didn't work, it sucked ass (total freeze, both remote players unable to control anything but I as the host could). But when it did work, it was absolutely brilliant. My friend in Japan was able to absolutely nail shots in Duck Game. And most of the time, it worked. According to them, it was very close to being there, and they didn't feel any need to complain, even in highly input-sensitive games.

Recommend?: It's still rough around the edges, but the core components are there. When it works, it works really well. And the fact that only one person needs to buy and run the game is huge. I'd definitely try this with your stranded homies this Pandemic Season.

I tried it out with a buddy in Divinity Original Sin 2. Thought it'd be a good game to do it on since combat is turn based so if there were any lag, it wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately it didn't work that well for us for some reason. The stream would be perfect on his end until it suddenly disconnected him. The disconnects happened roughly every 15 minutes. Tried Enter the Gungeon as well and it was the same. Worked fine for about 15 minutes until he was suddenly disconnected.

We couldn't figure out what the issue was. I know it's not a speed thing since I have 400 down/25 up connection as host and he had something like 200/20 and we were both using a wired connection. Fucked around with different settings for the remote play stuff on steam but we eventually gave up.
Yuna - Fri, 26 Jun 2020 21:17:44 EST xxALWBXM No.753910 Reply

Oh, quick question too to follow up on this. Anyone know of any other streaming software that's good for streaming and playing local coop with long distance bros? I've heard about Parsec but I don't know shit about it. Is it worth trying out? Any other ones I should look at?

Just wondering. If I could test some other software out and see if it works or not, that'd be an easy way for me to tell if it's something wrong with steam or just something wrong with our connection.

Teams are ALWAYS stacked and there's no auto-balance or even a simple team scramble between matches.

But I can't stop playing this shit, its addicting somehow.

Where do you guys get your fix on news for games?

I don't flip through gaming sites too often, maybe twice a week or so. I've been getting particularly irritated by the flood of advertisement farming that I have to sift through to find anything that's actually news about new games coming out.

I don't need to know the top ten closet homo protagonists or what some streamer got banned for this week. I just want a reliable flow of "these games are coming out soon and here's some interviews with the creators."

It makes me miss magazines, because the writers had a week or more to prepare decent content, and since you paid for it there wasn't a forced ad about hip wallets or insurance every 2 paragraphs.

Suggestions much appreciated!
