Yeah, I have about 1000 hours I was unemployed for a while. Here are some of my favorites that aren't too popular

Cloud Climber WT4-RN0-F8G
Easy course, but the best I've seen that is themed around platforms on tracks

Munchroom Y66-FD3-S4G
Super expert by virtue of being a precision course, but it isn't so tough actually. This and Munchroom 2 are probably the best gateways into precision platforming

1-1 DCL-QS0-42H
Remake of Super Mario Land 1-1, but with a lot of rotten mushrooms. Very fun in co-op if you find it too difficult

Pop The Puffers! 2 45V-JGD-JPF
My favorite underwater 3D world course, evade and kill the pufferfishes.

Big Ice Climber J8M-4VK-CMF
Vertical course with resource management. Only one I listed that I haven't beaten yet, but I did reach the checkpoint.

There are officially made levels designed for speed running. We've gotten 5 out of 20 so far. There are plenty of user generated levels which I enjoy more than the official ones, even with the limitations given. It may take a bit of digging to find stuff that really appeals to you, but there is definitely plenty of good stuff

I am willingly subjecting myself to the horror that is playing Final Fight 3 on a touchscreen emulator just to experience Lucia's loveliness of form.

...it has enemies with hilarious names such as Arby here so that helps distract from the frustrating gameplay as well.

Sonic has some good games I'm sure I wont love the movie but I'm harsher than those than on games. I genuinely have enjoyed some even mediocre sonic games but as I've gotten older and have way less time I tend to play the best of the best rather than anything I can get my hands on now. Truthfully though in my younger days even the lesser quality sonic games would be played through by me once they hit the discount rack at least. I even somewhat enjoyed shadow the hedgehog glad you liked what looks like a mediocre movie op.

Maybe it's nostalgia, but I really liked the original xbox 360 UI. I hate how modern UI's all look like windows 8, they all look extremely minimalistic and boring. Makes me think of working in a cubicle. I kinda like the new steam big picture UI though

>grow up playing video games nonstop
>my cousin gave me 50 nes games once and I traded them all for a copy of Kirby 64 when I was about 10, vowed I’d make up for it
>get a job in highschool working at goodwill
>become a pricer
>start taking any video game made GameCube era or before and putting it under the shelf
>mark item 50 cents and stash it at the end of the night, come back early the next day and buy it
>got thousands of dollars worth of gaming shit this way, Nes, n64, and virtual boy in the box, all the snes classics in the box in good condition including turtles in time and Metroid and dkc series
>eventually get caught and fired
>turns into huge addiction. This was when Xbox 360 was big but I didn’t care, I scoured Craigslist turning up old ps1 and sega Saturn collections and drove around the city scamming people out of their lost treasures, forgotten games of yesteryear, the golden age of gaming
>acquire a few arcade cabinets, at one point I own a tv with a built in NES
>by the age of 18 my moms basement is filled with this shit, shoeboxes full of gameboy games, hundreds of titles from the heyday of classic gaming, all of the classics you can imagine.
>I had any system you could think of except for really expensive/hypey shit (think like

So eventually I graduate highschool and dump my girlfriend who put up with this addiction and I get into drugs and drinking and chasing women and normal shit that people that age do.

All this shit sat in my moms basement and I slowly sold it over the years. I estimate I made 6-7 grand selling maybe 2/3rds of it over the course of like 6 years, whenever I ran out of money or needed a bag of weed there was always an Atari lynx or some shit I could pull out of my ass and run up to half price books and make a quick buck. That’s the saddest part, most of the time I wasn’t even selling it for what it was worth.

Eventually the collection dwindled down to about 70-80 games for nes, snes, ps1, and n64. My brothers had stolen my GameCube and gameboy and neo geo pocket collection Christmas everything else had been sold. I no longer had any sega or Atari.

I did a bunch of acid last summer at a music festival and decided I needed to become a minimalist and sell everything I own. When it came to the games, I couldn’t truly get rid of them. I sold them to my brother for a mere $600, and he struck a jack pot. There was chrono trigger and castlevania Dracula x in their. Most of the n64 classics. A copy of the original Zelda I had since I was a kid.

The only thing I own now is a mini snes, and I miss my video games dearly.

Should I start collecting again? I have recurring dreams almost nightly about striking the jack pot, finding hundreds of games (no sports titles) for super cheap or in a dumpster somewhere. Would it really be a waste of life to try to collect and beat all of the first party Nintendo titles?

Dude at this point you've destroyed your museum and myriad of wonders and there is no point in re-collecting it all unless you really want to pay out the ass or spend a shit load of time on it. There is a last solution for you though.

Your best bet? Build a super gaming machine of a PC and have it dedicated to running emulations of all that you had lost simply so you can own a digital copy of every physical asset that is now missing from your life.

Then go beyond that and include as many old school PC games you can think of or find from Wolfenstein all the way to Morrowind and beyond.

Then be sure to make a back-up of everything.

Which games do you think are the most OVER rated?

Deus Ex was never that good

Mass Effect 2 I didnt even know was supposed to be good. That game was a real steaming pile of shit and proof that you don't need to make good games, only get the combined forces of soulless corporate power with casting couch Hollywood agents.

Anything Bethesda had to do with Fallout

>Do you really not understand why anybody would enjoy anything about Journey?

I'm judging it as a video game. From that perspective, no I don't understand why anyone would like such an awful game where the main mechanic is just holding forward to keep walking. I understand some people might like it because it's "art" or whatever, but you could tape a banana to a wall and call that art so that doesn't really mean much.

It's like people don't understand that you might want some gameplay in your game. Even death stranding has more gameplay, and it's still a walking simulator.

I think we should differentiate between games and interactive movies. Games involve challenges that must be overcome in order to progress. Interactive movies simply require you to make a decision or press a button in order to continue. Here's a half decent litmus test: If an autofire controller can complete the media in question, it is not a game.

When the game take control away from your character in order to make you watch a struggle scene.

Enemies taking a swing at you and hits EVEN THOUGH it's clear the hit didn't connect.

Inability to change difficulty mid game.

Loading screens for fully rendered main menus (???)

So i played a few games of Smash at a friends and it seems like a cool game i'd like to play a little more since i never got to play the smash games when i was younger.

Is buying a switch worth it right now or should i wait for the price to drop further since i'm kinda broke? Which other games beside BotW can I look forward to trying?

I already have a wii which i modded to emulate pretty much any old game i want so i'm not desperate to upgrade for that purpose.

Thread for vastly underrated and underappreciated video games. It doesn't necessarily have to be a masterpiece but definitely one that never got its due.

Torment Tides of Numenera
Because it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played and I can only imagine people didn't like it because they're illiterate fags and children

Fallout Tactics
It had a lot wrong with it from the standpoint of Fallout which seems so innocent and naive in hindsight of Bethesda but it was hands down one of the best tactical games I ever played in my life. It even had the great general ambience of the originals but looks better. All it needed was a non-linear story and being an actual rpg.

Satellite Reign
As a fan of the original Syndicate this game was amazing. Controls took time getting used to but once you're in a groove it's pretty awesome. I just wish it didn't rely on "clones" which weirdly cheapens everything.

Wasteland 2
This game is literally Fallout 3. Bethesda 3 having the IP is irrelevant. It's like leaving Disney and EA in charge of Star Wars. It's nothing but another company doing a Fallout themed or Star Wars themed reskin of their bullshit. Wasteland 2 is the actual Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 is due to release this spring.
