This is the first Animal Crossing game that I really sunk into and I bought City Folk for a cheap price on eBay. Now I feel upset that I never got into this game when it debut on the GameCube/N64. I just expanded my house so now I'm in debt to Tom Nook AND I have a Dream Center project in the works. I still don't know what the best way to earn Bells are other than fishing and that's not always a guarantee. Am I doing something wrong when it comes to my work and pay?

Turnips are essentially the stocks of this game, right? I wish I understood how they worked or else I could be making some serious money in real life. I know about buy low sell high but I have no idea when to utilize it.

The idea is that you save up Bells by fishing or growing fruit, then selling them until you have a respectable amount of Bells.
Then, on a Sunday (when the Turnip NPC is in town), you buy as many turnips as you can for as cheap as you can (whether this means looking online for people who say their town has turnips for a really low price or staying in your town and buying them), then you spend the next 6 days looking for the highest price to sell them for (whether this means looking online for people who say their town has turnips selling for a really high price or staying in your town and selling them).
The gamble is in when you sell them. Lets say that you saw a post about a town where 1 turnip sells for 150 bells. You can choose to go there and sell or wait for a higher price....but either way, you only have 6 days.

Stocks irl are similar but affected by events....there's also only one market. So lets say you buy 5 stocks in Turnip Farms Inc. for $5 each but then a cold snap happens and all the turnips die. Most investors don't want to own stock in a business that has all of its product rendered unusable, so they'll probably sell their stock. The price of stock for Turnip Farms Inc would plummet (lets say they're worth 50 cents each now) but if you think they'll make a comeback, you can buy the stock for cheap and keep the stock you already have. If you're right and Turnip Farms Inc has a good year, the price of the stock you own goes up; so instead of owning 5 stocks worth $5 each, now you own 5 stocks worth $100 each....or, if you bought a bunch of stock when they were worth 50 cents, 100 stocks worth 50 cents each which turns into 100 stocks worth $100 each.

The Animal Crossing version (actually called the Stalk Market) is like the irl stock market but simplified and with multiple realities where the same stock is worth more or less.
DrWorm !Jq.HCcHctg - Wed, 14 Aug 2019 11:56:04 EST uJbN+UBc No.741571 Reply
there's actually more to it that I forgot:

You can keep buying low and selling high until the end of the 6 days (because after that, the turnips rot and you can't sell them). Ideally, you stop buying turnips right before Sunday because now you have gobs of money and not pockets full of rotten turnips.

What game gets your inner tactical rollin'?

For a while it was Siege for me, until I tried SWAT 3 and 4 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare in Coop,
and Siege just looked like an overhyped breed between Call of Duty and Overwatch to me.

Heck, I even remember playing Rogue-Spear some years ago!
These were the times!

It's a good one and it actually told me how good SWAT 4's soundtrack is. I played it first time with someone I knew to be using no music (for easier comms in coop) and he didn't find it atmospheric at all while everyone else has had the opposite experience.

Hello all,

I am someone who loves video games, but have always been a console fag (parents never bought me a nice computer, I never saved and built one, family computer was crap). I've played a lot of hearthstone, some runescape and adventure quest back in the day, and have loved on consoles games like Zelda (up to wind waker), fable, mass effect, knights of amalur, KOTOR, forza/generally racing games, and enjoyed some shooters when I was younger like halo 2 and 3, gears of War, battlefield 2, unreal tournament 3, and more.

I just got a new Dell G5 laptop with a Intel i7-9750 and Nvidia GTX 1660TI so I am super excited to finally be able to game on PC. I have a wired controller and a nice mouse.

Can anyone recommend some great PC games for me? I know there's tons and I don't know where to start. Part of me can't wait to get back into old games I love and I have a huge emulation collection I can't wait to move to the new laptop, but I also want some new and good PC games where I can actually use the power of my new machine. I also love RTS and plan on trying the new civilization unless there's something better.

If this breaks the rules mods delete, and sorry if it's not the most interesting topic for all, but I thought this the best place to ask. I like your guys opinions that I read.

The closest game to a big boy pc game that I ever finished was spore (which I just finished again for no good reason), and it's a game made for widdle babies. Please recommend me strategy and or rpg PC classics that I'm sure to love, aren't too cumbersome, and stand the test of time insterad of being considered to be good just because of nostalgia.

Speech controls work fine nowadays. There's voice attack for elite dangerous is great for supplementing your other controls. So you can put power to your different systems without it affecting your maneuvering. Or you can engage docking automatically. Or you can enable speech to text and chat without typing. And it's customizable with macros and custom voice commands. Want to frame shift? Make it so.

And there's other examples of good microphone integration like Swat 4 and alien instinct. In swat you could yell at criminals to get on the ground and to tell your team where to move. Worked well. In alien instinct, the game uses the mic to tell the alien where you are and how scared you are.

>Also the first FPS to have a sniper with a scope, I believe.
Okay, but being sprite based kind of limited how well real world dynamics could work there. Kind of like with Lotus Ultimate Challenge 3, as bizarre a comparisson as that might be, but both had quite memorable background music. The weapons in it could be a bit wonky, particularly the sawed of shotgun. The dynamite was damn quirky, you could lay down like dozens of sticks, but they'd explode one at a time. Maybe it was a lot like those story focussed Terminator games back then... the technology wasn't really mature enough for such a specific arsenal to work smoothly.

And then it must have inspired Smoking Guns. If one was so inclined, that could be envisionned as a belated opportunity to smoothen out Outlaws's wrinkles.

>Indeed. I still call it the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series which at least acknowledges the first game.
Technically, Dark Forces used an engine called Jedi, and was the only game in the series to do so. Maybe if there was a remake of it called "Jedi Knight 0" released, that would roll it together.

>Yeh but they're well regarded and show up in discussion a lot.
But that series is threatened by dwindling joystick options. It's really striking because there was such a thing back then ... Descent I, II, III, Freespace 2, Forsaken ... and it seemed to have just gone nowhere.

It was a space civilization like Masters Of Orion, it was early access and I don't think it ever left, it was ended changing names a bunch and I think had a bunch of splinters and spinoffs which is why I stopped following it.

It also a race of wolf people as a playable faction. Anyone know what the fuck I'm talking about?

So there's this passage in one of Morrowind's books that basically spells out that the Daedric Prince (pretty much a god) Molag Bal outright raped Vivec, who is THE main god of that game.

Adults make games, usually. And I guess adults like to hide some real shit in their games behind words or easter eggs or whatever, even it's PG13.

Are there other examples of this?

Honestly if the game just told you or pointed out, "Hey, did you know that when you attack with low stamina you'll miss most of the time?" then it'd be fine. Most of the issues I see people having when playing Morrowind is in not knowing something that the game should've told them, but not necessarily with the game systems themselves.

If San Andreas had stuck to Liberty City instead of repeatedly increasing the stake and stupidity of its main campaign I'd maybe agree with you. It's not even the best in the series which is either Vice City or Chinatown Wars I'd also accept Bully but it's arguably not a GTA game. Saints Row 2's main campaign was also silly but it was consistent in that tone and had much better side content to make up for it not to mention full coop play from the first mission. I'll grant the difference isn't as huge as that between Morrowind and Gothic though.
I think the tutorial might mention it in passing but I agree: it should have been written in giant unmissable letters across your screen. There's nothing wrong with dice roll combat as long as it's not a frustrating black box to your players.

Civilization Revolution (Nintendo DS)

I always forget what Nintendo DS (lite) games I own and whenever I come across this game it always manages to hold my interest for some time that I sink a few hours into the gameplay. The only downside is that I wish this game had the famous "just one more turn" but what is it about this particular Civilization title that manages to capture my interest more than any of the main titles. This is the primary reason why if I were ever going to get Civilization VI it will be for the Switch, not the PC, since having a Civilization game on the go is always a great thing to have for me.

Who else finds themselves enjoying this particular Civilization game?

By the way, my New Nintendo 3DS XL came in the mail today and I did a system transfer from my old Nintendo 2DS. I might get some games for it and for this system I want to buy them digitally since I like just having access to all of the games on the console itself. Kind of wish I did that for the Switch since all I needed is a microSD card. What games do you recommend?

I have my eyes on Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Dong Kong Country, the Kirty wooley game, Minecraft (because I have to own this on every fucking platform >.<), and Bravely Default but that one scares me as it's $40. I always sucked at games where the combat was turn based.

Anyway, yeah, now about that Civilization...

I recently discovered that I could get one of these consoles refurbished directly from Nintendo on their official eBay store.

For $119, I figured maybe now might be a decent time to upgrade to the New Nintendo 3DS XL since my Nintendo 2DS might be on its last legs. It does have some mileage on it.

But I can also get the New Nintendo 2DS XL for $99 from the same place. Now I always had an affinity toward that design because it's smaller and easy to carry with you to places. But a part of me feels like if now is my opportunity to get a console that seems very well beloved even over that of it's smaller siblings. Why not spend the extra money?

I'm perfectly okay with getting a New Nintendo 2DS XL especially since I found out that Minecraft isn't exactly exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS XL which indicates to me that there are no exclusives between members of the DS family.

But I want to hear your input. Which is worth getting if you were to get one of these handhelds in 2019?

Also, how large is the New Nintendo 3DS XL? Can it fit inside of a travel mini backpack? It's not too big that it is awkward to hold like how the Nintendo Switch can be, is it?

What do you all think?
