I've never played one of these games before, I'm a little confused yet intrigued.

The graphics look straight out of 1999 in a mildly aesthetic sort of way.

If you're playing Kobuto Burst Battle on the switch you should know its just a fangame, the bulk of the huge fandom just revolves around the characters and music and memes so if you enjoy it no worries but don't take it to represent the series outside of that

I've been giving it another shot. I'm having more fun with it this time around, probably because this time I went into it knowing what to expect (wasn't even aware they removed skills before playing it for the first time) on top of mostly just fucking about and avoiding questing.

I was planning on giving it a better shot with some mods but most of the mods require the Season Pass which is still fucking $30, which is still ridiculous since the DLC aren't anything special.

I am actually trying out the Cemu/Citra emulators and playing some Pokemon Ultra Moon, BOTW, and Smash. Cemu's made some pretty good progress since last I tried it.

Well, its more compact which kinda gives you the illusion that there is so much more to do but its not really any better. The story is shit, the gameplay is still the same, and the ending is really lackluster. The only reason i bought it was because i wanted to play more content, any content, with my new horror mods and in that aspect it did not dissapoint. The new monsters are legit spooker than dumbass super mutents, and the mix of the dense fog and how compact the island makes it really fun the first time you play it with lots of things to do but once you're done with it you'll never come back.

Theres like 5 different types of exp, so you'll get exp for playing mini games and shit, and there's vending machines for little stat boosts like more sprint or defense. The only thing im not diggin is the damn baby needs to be calmed down alot, maybe its just the part that im at, but that little nigga starts crying every five minutes. I've been getting into TLoU Factions again lately and it seems more cancerous than I remember
Teabagging, shitting on people from your own team, players leaving when there is any sign of losing the match, stuff like that was very rare when I used to play.
Its not really a problem but it just seemed like something that barely ever happened back then, now its a common occurrence

Anyways, I used to always play with the semi auto so instead i've been trying out different weapons each match. I like the tactical shotgun because the range makes me switch up my playstyle a bit so I think i'm going to stick with that for a while

Forgot I bought the PS4 version of Dark Cloud a couple years ago so I started playing it again. Only in the second village/dungeon, kind of tedious but it lightly brushes my video game OCD itch with this georama collection bullshit so I keep playing one more dungeon level to find more shit.

The inventory system is absolutely hideous, though. I keep having to dispose of shit because of the damn key items taking up multiple slots and because I'm saving healing items and repair powder because I know I'm going to get fucked at some point. This game also gives you a pitiful amount of gold in comparison to how much items cost, too.

It's not the same experience. For TLoU anyway, never played GoW.

Play it on the hardest difficulty right off the bat. A gigantic mistake people make with that game is playing it on anything else because then it is "cinematic" easy mode so you can faceroll through and see the story. Good luck getting invested in the characters when everything is so irrelevant, it's like when a game tells you that this is the hardest toughest most evil son of a bitch and nobody can ever beat him oh my god we're doomed there's nothing we can do, and then you pinch his nipple and he explodes because you're playing on very very very easy.

I watched a Last of Us playthrough on Youtube when it came out, and playing through it I still enjoyed the hell out of it. The combat, pacing, and exploration are what make that game, and the fact that it has a great and well-presented (if somewhat predictable) story is just icing on the cake. But of course critics are idiots and that's what they focus on above all else.

It's never going to be the "same experience" unless the controller is in your hands, even with story-based games. You could watch a friend play through Silent Hill 2 and learn the story beats, but you'd still owe it to yourself to play the game on your own. Not saying these two games are anywhere close to SH2 quality, but hopefully you get my point.

Is it really bait though? It's true.

Doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing, one of my favorite games of all time is FF13, I've played through it a few times loved every second of it, however if I wanted to I could get an almost exact same experience just watching a youtube lets play. All I'd miss out on is the battle mechanics and even though I enjoy FF13's battle mechanics and from what I"ve seen GOW's battle mechanics looks nice, it's not a huge loss if you don't control it yourself.

What's the point in talking about a game you haven't played? Before God of War came out, I thought it was going to be a walk and talk simulator with some QTE's, but it ended up surpassing my expectations by a long shot. M. Bison already said this, but you gotta play this game on the highest difficulty. I've already poured around thirty hours into this game, and I'm not even done yet.

Anyway,

You can play State of Decay 2 free on windows right now. Just need to sign into a microsoft account and do a 2 week free trial of Xbox Game Pass. Just cancel before the 2 weeks is up and you won't get billed, pretty standard. You can then just launch the game from the xbox.com app and play on PC. No xbox live required

The game is a lot better than I was expecting. One of my NPC friends got bitten and infected helping me do a mission. I didn't realize it until I came back to camp and noticed the morale was "depressed", and then noticed "camp member infected".

I just asked him to leave the camp and he headed off into the sunset to die. I wonder if I will come across a zombie that looks like him.

I feel like games that innovate in narrative and tech, such as games like god of war the the last of us will be forgotten since they're so tied to narrative and technology instead of player input, and in the next next gen this technology we find amazing today will be seen as obsolete, therefore these games will be seen as obsolete, while games like breath of the wild of or bloodboner will always be remembered for their player input.

I mean, why would we care about narrative-heavy games from this generation in the future when in the future narrative-heavy games will be so much more amazing with super advanced vr and shit like that?

Where you are all wrong is that it's fucking single player, it's not about optimising or any shit, you can win it stoned as fuck with whatever shit you cobble together and that's the fun. I mean I admit pre gen 6 you save a lot of grind time by taking stronger monsters but whoop de fucking do. If you want an easy play through in SP you basically stack fast offensive types with good coverage and maybe a single setup sweeper like intimidate/DD gyarados just in case you totally fuck up.

I don't give a fuck about OU or Battlespot metas when I played single player. Jesus you guys suck enough that I actually made a pokemon post for the first time in 2 years.

playthrough teams don't matter so anything beyond cool is pointless, but like I said it is cool picks, Vileplume steez

You know, we've been getting a lot of games with father figure protagonist like Last of Us, God of War, and the Pitcher 3 but im wondering if a game with a mother figure Protagonist came out and i haven't noticed. I really cant think of anything but my memory is terrible. The only thing i can think of Samus Aran, Badass Space bounty hunter and the adoptive mother of Metroid. Cooking Mama is baddass but im probably the only person who thinks that.

Im actually kinda sick of the whole father figure thing. I cant help but feel they intentionally try to use those stories cause the target audience are people who probably have kids or at least old enough to have them. Its kinda how the Anime nowadays has storied of Otakus getting married to other Otakus and leading normal lives. I think they are trying to brainwash, Fawkes.

Probably a mix of the writers getting their first child, a mix of the characters they've written becoming old enough to fit a child into their backstory in order to add more drama and responsibility, and the demographic of their games also having children of their own.

It's really just an easy way for someone to sympathize with a hardened character who dealt with loss or had a dark past by having them take the responsibility of handling someone else's life instead of just theirs.

Offspring Fling is a cute game about a mother who throws her babies around to solve puzzles. That and Metroid are pretty much the only games I can think of that remotely center on motherhood or involve maternal relationships. Agree that the dad game saturation is boring, but I don't see it changing anytime soon.

I feel like this is a bit yes and no.

Sub zero has a point. I feel that a lot of under representation in a lot of areas isn't down to bad sexist people, just cultural momentum. Its the people who are in that medium writing what they know. The problem is that the people who relate most are like them and so in a few years you have more of the same. To break the cycle requires you either turn out a few duffers or sink more money into digging deeper for talent (as you have a smaller pool) to write those female roles. Its one of those situations where the industry benefits in the long run from such actions but whoever pays the costs doesn't benefit any more than anyone else, so no one will. Its almost a public good except just if "the games industry" is people. Its not though so they should either create a pool of money that provides grants so they share the cost and all can go nuts, or just accept lower long term profits and gaming remaining male dominated. But yeah, its not that anyone's being a shit.

Also that article misses out on a lot of mum characters.

Lets start by just saying "Bioware" but adding that the mass effect series was full of shit dads. However bioware are the leaders in making an effort for diversity and rather than paying more to make a good game they just cut the quality these days. Aside from them who did mothers? Well they mentioned Bioshock so you've got Brigid Tenenbaum, but honestly I'm scraping. Hopefully people can come up with others.

I do think we have a bit of an issue where the mother audience are least likely to be gamers. Women playing games has increased a lot lately but a lot of those people are only just having kids now. The ones who had children early I suspect are less likely to be gamers as well and were more likely to reflect the previous generations' attitude of games being a boy's thing. A lot of women my age still think like that but the ones who are 5 years or more younger tend to be more likely to have at least been competitive with their siblings when it came to a couple of games.

The other question is in this day and age where we're moving towards better paternity leave, better career paths for women and less stigma towards male fathers, parental gender roles are loosening and the difference between a mother and father is increasingly less significant. I realise that true equality in this regard is somewhere between "your children might almost have it" and "never" but its definitely changing fast enough we can track the difference since we started our careers and most of us are 20-30 here other spoiler: I'm not. So how significantly different will that be?

Driveclub VR
It got lousy reviews because it has 'bad graphics' in this day and age.
It's a racing game. Yeah, if you sat still and stared down grass textures they probably aren't looking that amazing, but if you're going 100+mph and everything is whizzing by I don't think it matters too much.
It's interesting that it has brake assist similar to how Mario Kart 8 has drive assist, but it does sort of feel strange to have it kick in. They advertise 100 tracks, but half of them are just reverse which is a little misleading. Still more than Trackmania Turbo had to offer in their VR mode. I

I like it for the price, though even this budget PS4 game is pricier than the grand majority of steam games I've bought.

Taking a break from PoE: Deadfire (got to a point where all of my main questlines told me to wait and got tired of sailing around aimlessly. I plan to go back but I've definitely cooled on it somewhat...) to try out Battletech and Dirt: Rally. Both are a lot of fun but pretty brutal at times. Battletech feels kinda gamey with the story missions in that a lot of the time it's a matter of timing when you complete a particular objective so an event doesn't fire before you're ready, which guess that makes sense sometimes and I probably need to be better about playing conservatively. Still, it's good as hell. I don't play a lot of racing games (the last one I really got into I think was NfS: Porsche Unleased, I think?) and am swearing a lot, but when I actually manage to pull a race off Dirt feels amazing. Strong contender for my Posh British Man Describing Roads to Me Simulator 2018 GOTY award.

The game got bad press only before it came out due to Bethesda and ID refusing to give out reviewer copies. This is usually done to hide that a shit game is shit so as to not cause a massive influx of preorder cancels and bad press. Instead ID rewarded our doubt with a kick ass game.

It only got bad press in the pre-release phase, because of the assumption that any franchise reboot is a mediocre cashgrab. It was also following Doom 3 which wasn't a particularly good Doom game.

Thankfully it ended up bucking both the "shit cashgrab reboot" trend and the "slow exposition-heavy cramped corridor shooter" trend of its predecessor. Once it was released it got rave reviews from people here and elsewhere, but serves as an example of why pre-release cynicism needs to be toned down a bit.

Never got a chance to play the OG Dark Souls since I traded in my ps3 for a ps4, but now I have my chance! Just jumped on board the DS remastered hype train and I'm loving it so far. Bloodborne still has a place in my heart as my favorite Fromsoft game, but this already flows better than DS3. As I never got to play the OG version this one doesn't really scream "remastered" but the locked 60 FPS is nice and really noticeable after moving from bloodborne.

I'd be pissed that it's 40 bucks and I had already bought the OG and PTD editions though.

Playing through Human Revolution again right now to get myself refreshed for Mankind Divided. Gotta say, a lot of the Director's Cut commentary for HR is kinda sad, a ton of it essentially boils down to them talking about stuff they were originally gonna have included the game but couldn't due to time/budget/whatever constraints (actually being able to visit upper Heng-Sha for instance)

For anyone who's played it, can you give me an honest assessment of MD? I've heard mixed things, most of the complaints I've seen are about how the story is kinda self-contained, short, and ends abruptly, (heard this was because of Square Enix fuckery cutting the game in half), but on the plus side I've heard that the gameplay is deeper and that Prague is a really great hub with way more to explore than the ones from HR.

I never played the earlier installments but I got mankind divided free a while back and loved it enough to buy the dlc and play through that even though the dlc is very very small its still entertaining.

On my first playthru I decided to go with no fatalities and it was hard as fuck but made the game quite enjoyable, though I did go back after with guns blazin which was fun but nowhere near the same experience.
The story is explained enough? for someone who has no idea whats happening to get the gist.

tldr sneak around and don't use guns and its fun for sure

Moonlighter.

On the third dungeon. Has a fun, addicting feedback loop. Nice pixel art. Little buggy, but no CTDs or anything game breaking so far. Running out of stuff to upgrade besides the armor and weapon trees though, which all seem to require a stupid amount of random loot to grind out. Every weapon besides the spear seems pretty worthless so it's mostly for completion's sake. Dunno if it's something you unlock later, but you can't replay bosses, which seems bizarre in a game that revolves around proc gen dungeon crawling and selling loot.

Banner Saga, got it free with Twitch Prime (along with the 2nd one). Always wanted to play it. Really enjoying the story, which is pretty rare for me. And the combat's an interesting take on turn-based grids that requires you to rethink your normal strategy so that it's actually interesting.

Yeah, I generally play these kinda games as non-lethal as I can, so that's good to hear. How many hours would you say the dlcs are in total? As long as Mankind is similar enough to Human Revolution in gameplay I'm sure I'll enjoy it enough to consider buying those since I got the base game for free anyway.

Man, something about these immersive sim games just scratches an itch for me that no other genre does. It's probably all the exploration involved, I love 'em.

Got Dishonored 2 as well that I need to start once I finish Mankind Divided. And I still need to finish the new Prey, I was really enjoying that.

If you can find (and have, it might only come with the expac idk) the option to double mission timers use it, 2 can get really aggravating with the standard timers. Beyond that, I know it's very tempting when you get fucked by RNG but try not to savescum. You're meant to lose some soldiers, and on ps4 the loading times are atrocious anyway.

I'm not that good at xcom so I don't really have any other good advice.

Don't get stuck in the mindset of "I can't use this, I need to save it for [hypothetical worse situation that may or may not ever become a reality]!"

'Course I'm not saying use all of your explosives on 3 sectoids but if things are starting to get dicey don't be afraid to use what you have. It's easy to get bogged down worrying about how much harder it's gonna be later when you run into nine chrysallids and a beserker, but later is kind of irrelevant if all of your guys die this turn.

So I switched to the lowest difficulty in XCOM 2 until I can get my bearings and it's helped a lot. Rather than getting my ass handed to me I'm actually learning crucial things in combat and managed to not have any soldiers die in the few missions I did.
But as far as the base stuff goes outside of missions I don't know WHAT the fuck is going on. No idea what research is or what I should prioritize, no idea what I should be building in the empty spaces or how those even work, no idea what the hell is going on on the map or what I should be doing when, I just don't know. Pic related, but I guess I'll learn that as I go along too
As far as I can understand the base spaces are going to be kind of like a sim game? You'll have workers you can assign to different tasks and shit? Am I getting that right? I only just finished the proving grounds which was on the checklist so that's what I put first in there. What the heck do I do when it says there's like 3 days and I got no missions? What do I do when missions pop up and I'm not done scanning(scanning being another thing I don't understand)?
Jesus either this game doesn't explain things well or I'm straight up stupid

You can interrupt scanning on the world map and go back to it later, best to prioritize combat missions.
>scanning being another thing I don't understand
It basically means "getting the thing" (resources, intel, people, etc.)

The personell you have can be assigned to improve certain rooms, mostly engineers I think, iirc scientist only improve research speed.

It takes a while before you really have many options for building rooms and assigning people, you'll probably learn as you go.

>No idea what research is or what I should prioritize
I think they give you a general idea of what you're getting, just don't pidgeonhole yourself.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, there is another game for GBA called Tactics Ogre but it's Knights of Lodus. It's good too but not as good. Better than the shitty PSP port though.

I recommend the SNES rom with an English patch, there are official English PSX and Saturn ports of the original but the PSX port has extremely long load times SNES doesn't and good luck finding a non-buggy as fuck Saturn emulator. The SNES rom is the easiest way to go.

Remodding and playing Skyrim, was reading that apparently the special edition isn't total shit now that a good number of mods have been ported over.

Anybody know? I've never been fucked to bother with the new one, 64bit and a really basic ENB just don't seem worth it. Like to me the original game looks fine enough with some texture mods and I only got an ENB to use ENBoost.

Is there a reason to deal with the hassle / missing mods beyond just a slightly prettier game?

Subnautica is ridiculously fun. Underwater and much better version of Minecraft. Has the survival iteration thing that MC, Terraria, Steamworld Dig, etc have, but manages to feel totally unknowable and incredibly fun to explore.

You crash-land on an alien planet and have to survive until the rescue comes.

Not proc-gen, so the levels are quite interesting just wandering around. The underwater caves remind me of Descent back in the day. Disorienting for sure. In a good way.

10/10, best game I've played in probably a year. My current GOTY candidate

Well that's easy.

I like the spider staff with the spider armor, but the spiders tend to give the enemy invincibility frames to the point that only they can deal damage and everything else whiffs past. Against trash it's great, but against bigger enemies not so much.

I also like all the fancy dyes you can get, burning hades / twilight are pretty dang cool.

Not the person you're replying to but I just beat it recently. It isn't too poorly optimized. At max settings my GTX1070 usually ran at ~50-70% GPU load / ~30% onboard RAM

With an old-ass quadcore Intel i7 3770K it ran at about 20-40% on all cores, and only used a couple GB of RAM

The game had a couple of rare hiccups, but never for more than a second or so and never hard-crashed

Bump when a game you wont be playing for much longer

>Friday the 13th: The Game has established a loyal and excited fan base over the last year. As publisher/developer, Gun and Illfonic have made every effort to provide our fans with an authentic and great gaming experience.

>As many in our community may be aware, a legal claim has been made which could affect all future Friday the 13th intellectual property. Although in the past the game has not been subject to any such claim, new content and material going forward will be affected. An initial decision in this case was expected in October 2017, but no decision has yet been issued. The court review of the legal rights is in process, but final resolution may take some time. Until the claim rights can be dismissed or resolved, no new content can be released.

>When we originally learned that the game fell within the crosshairs of this legal dispute, we tried to balance the creation of new content requested by our fans against the maintenance and bug fixing that our community expects and deserves. We attempted to do both within the limits of the legal case.

>We’ve now been forced to accept that the lawsuit makes future content for the game, including alternate play modes, new playable Jasons and Counselors, and new maps, unfeasible now or in the future. Although the listed content types will be affected, we remain committed to launching dedicated servers on our console platforms and providing the continued maintenance and bug fixing important to supporting our fan base.

>So what does this mean exactly? There will be no additional content added to Friday the 13th: The Game. This includes “Uber Jason”, The Grendel Map, Jason Kill Packs, Clothing, Emotes and new Counselors.

  • Gun

A damn shame. The game had tons of problems but was a lot of fun as well

I liked Dead by Daylight more, but that's unbelievably shitty that the Friday the 13th game is getting killed because IP law is so fucked up in the US that claims last for billions of years but paradoxically are so fluid that multiple groups can own parts of the same IP.

While it sucks, the game has been effectively dead for months. Every patch creates problems that the developers don't know how to hotfix. On PC I haven't seen over 500 people playing in a long time.

What colossally shitty news. I've been waiting for it to be "finished" to justify the crazy $40 price tag, but now I guess unless they drop the price to $10 to try and save the impending userbase exodus it looks like I'll never play this. A shame since this looked a hell of a lot more fun than Dead By Daylight.

Just beat Resident Evil 7. Not perfect...but pretty fucking close. A wonderful homage to the Horror genre, movies and games alike. Only 2 things stuck at as not amazing, a lot of the enemies were good, but not great. Could've used a tad more variety. And one of the boss battles (the third one)really deserved to be taken in another direction.

But yeah these molded enemies got more crap than they deserved. They actually do look pretty creepy coming out of the shadows

It ties into Umbrella corp. It seems like your character doesn't know anything about Umbrella going in, so it's something you uncover as the game goes on.

Also anyone know how to make use of magnetic weapons and other weapon upgrades? I always thought save-scumming to be something more like, you want to get a successful result on a specific aspect of the game. For example, there's a 15% chance to steal an item, so you savescum until you beat the RNG and get it.

Certainly if there's some catastrophic disaster, and you wouldn't really want to play the game any more if you had to continue from that point, it seems prudent to reload your save and try again. Otherwise you're essentially playing every game in hardcore/no death mode.

I mean, you do still reload your save if you die and the game ends, right? But isn't that still save-scumming? You had an outcome you didn't wish to experience and you are reverting to a save. In reality your character died. Logically, you must restart the game.

>In reality your character died. Logically, you must restart the game.
Yeah but i'm not entirely sure how that works in XCOM though. When I was starting out I failed the very first mission losing all my soldiers and it gave me the option to restart the mission, but a bit down the line I lost all my soldiers on a mission and I was given no option to restart just a failed mission.
So it either depends on the mission or you're only able to restart if you've literally lost all the soldiers that you have. Either way I think it adds to the excitement of the game which is why I don't want to be reloading all the time. Its like permadeath except its just permadeath for those soldiers and not your entire playthrough, and when you take these soldiers out on multiple missions you sort of get attached to them especially because they all have unique names. I think on future playthroughs I might start even customizing their looks and loadouts just to add to the fun
But savescumming for item drops or pickpocketing in games like skyrim is completely understandable in my opinion, I can't really talk against that because I do it all the time in those kinds of games. Otherwise you'd just have to go through some boring bullshit every time you fail

XCom pre seeds RNG so you can only take different actions. You still end up being able to get the results you want if they're possible though.

Also I'm pretty sure weapon upgrades are done at "everyone" level.

Can you actually make decisions in this game? I'm 30 minutes into this game, half of it was figuring out how to dump a bucket of paint before making princesses wet by sprinklers. Couldn't just, you know, confront those cunts or even climb the ladder. Now I have to prove some bullshit about Dana sexting instead of just leaving the floor to fetch the USB drive, anyway I seem to be linearly driven with a couple of answers to answer here and there. Just had my first game, it really was nice. Something I wasn't expecting was the awesome sounds, the dampening of hearing things through walls is spot on. Also those Q3 style hit connection sounds. Also the sense of speed is great.

Seeing team-mates through walls is kinda weird but I can live with it, same with pickups, even if it makes things more mindless. Less importance of knowing the level, easier to pick up the game for casuals, more just zoning out to SHOOT.

Don't really know what to think of the champions themselves yet, but I think I'll end up wishing it was a bit more pure. None of the frags I got using abilities felt earned.

Menu system is horrible also.
All in all it's mostly good. Satisfying shoot.
I'm a scandi-fag so chances are I won't get placed in games with any of you, but if,

I think I've found my new favourite Arma mission; Antistasi.

It's basically a dynamic guerrilla sandbox. You start out with a small camp and puny little pea-shooters in your armory. Then you start raiding shit to steal more equipment for your campaign and freeing hostages/refugees to add to your manpower, slowly building up your strength to actually start capturing outposts, towns and bases. In the start you can't hold shit for more than a few minutes before enemy reinforcements show up and fuck you up big time, so you have to stick to hit and run guerrilla tactics.

I finally got enough cash to buy a BMD-1 (or the Barely Mobile Deathtrap as I like to call it). It'll probably blow the fuck up if an RPG lands within 50 meters of it, but at least it's armored enough to keep me safe from small arms. And as long as I don't go all leroy jenkins it has enough firepower to make short work of the smaller outposts. Pic is me and my homies riding it on the way to steal some ammo trucks. It actually went better than expected, until the guy I ordered to drive back to base with one of the ammo trucks (on a road I thought was safe) met a tigr (basically a russian humvee) on the way. It killed the driver and fucked up the tires enough to immobilize it, but luckily it didn't blow up. Went back, fucked up the tigr, and towed the ammo truck home. >Arma 3

Please tell me you added mods to make the guns sound good/revamped real life guns.

I can not play vanilla ArmA 3 without those mods these days. (Then again, I haven't played it for about 4-5 years but still.)

Looks like a fun little game thing. I forgot the name of the mod that had dynamic missions and stuff.

Back with my old group between scheduled missions, we used to do that. Fun times.

>Please tell me you added mods
Yea ofcourse. The only "Arma" game I can play unmodded these days is Operation Flashpoint, and that's for pure nostalgia reasons.

Currently running with:
RHS for real-world US and Russian equipment, as opposed to the silly semi-scifi vanilla stuff. This mission uses mostly russian stuff tho, unless I call in US ammodrops.
JSRS soundmod and Dynamic Soundscape to make it sound good.
Enhanced Movement for climbing anything other than knee-high walls. And for climbing through windows, which really should have been possible in vanilla too.
And then some smaller UI quality of life mods.

>I forgot the name of the mod that had dynamic missions and stuff.
MSO (might have been only for A2) or Alive perhaps? I used to play a lot of MSO before. That was pretty fun as well. I like how Antistasi kinda plays like reverse MSO, with you being the guerillas instead.

It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but if you're already familiar with Arma it's not a very steep learning curve. There are a couple of guides for it, but I got by just fine with just skimming through them a bit, and reading the in-game briefing.

I guess the biggest hurdle is getting to grips with how incredibly weak you are in the early game. You literally have no other option than hit and run guerrilla tactics in the beginning. Trying to hold even small outposts or a roadblock will get you swiftly crushed by enemy reinforcements, often coming by helo or armored vehicles, while you have very limited means of dealing with that.

Here's the site if you want to check it out: https://a3antistasi.enjin.com/
They even have a mp server for it. Haven't tried that out yet as I'm running an older version of the mission. In the newer versions they changed up the factions a bit, and removed some features I kinda liked. In the newer version you are a separate guerilla faction trying to make use of a US-Russia war to take control of the map. In the version I'm playing you are a US-backed guerilla faction fighting against Russia. Just personal preference on my part though. The newer version is way more stable, and has some other features the older one doesn't. IIRC you start with a bit more gear in that one too, so it might be a bit easier to start with.

My dude. RHS and JSRS were THE mods. Nice to see they're still up there.

>MSO (might have been only for A2) or Alive perhaps?

Yes. MSO. I think the A3 version allowed you to spawn an armory box depending on what the server config had set up. Dressing up like SAS and doing shit like that.

Man, you took me back a few years.

You know you can keep pushing it back? The very start of the game you have to do a few missions in a hurry but I did not have that problem. I did play it on normal but then I imagine you didn't choose a high difficulty mode if you wanted to meander around and just spend time fighting aliens for shits and giggles.

I feel like you missed something. Then again I only played it with the war of the chosen addon and maybe it plays very differently that way.

Avatar project isn't a huge deal, even when it reaches the end you get a 30 day count down and just doing the blacksite mission should reduce it by 2 or 3. I suggest you start on a lower difficulty
Also are you aware that you start out with like 20 soldiers? Healing shouldn't be an issue when you can just take a different team out. It's a good idea to get those rookies promoted anyways
You should be trying to get engineers too and building rooms like the advanced ware fare center(reduces healing time by half), resistance coms, and geurilla tactics school(can upgrade so you can take out 5 soldiers on a mission and eventually 6 and a bunch of other mission related upgrades)
The game throws a bunch of scanning sites at you early game but you don't have to do all of them, I would just pick and choose by what you need at the time

well fuck a duck, I get back into GTA online after I was banned and then unbanned back when the game was new on PC. The first ban was when a player locked me and a whole lobby into cages, rained money and flaming hookers on us. Only because I streamed it did I get unbanned, but it took 3 fucking months anyways and I moved on. I come back to the game this month, really enjoy the new game modes and heists, start investing some time into the game, making a bunch of new friends to help out, and some modder finds me afk, dumps a ton of cash on my head, levels me up a few hundred levels in 3 minutes until the game kicks me out. I get back in and only an hour later I get slapped with a fucking permanent, un-appealable ban. I fucking loved RDR and its freeroam, and loved GTA:O but I'll super glue my dickhole shut before I buy anything else from COCKstar

Dicking around in Jurassic World Evolution to try and unlock everything.
I was about to nail the last part of a challenge when a disaster struck, someone sabotaged the power and opened all of the enclosure gates.
About 20 genetically enhanced Velociraptor and similiar species, a t-rex, and 2 other big carnivores were set loose on the guests. Oh and many herbivores decided to take a stroll outside.

Needless to say many people and dinosaurs died.
Fixing the gates didn't solve the problem btw, it actually made it worse because now some of the carnivores got locked in with those juicy herbivores. Too bad this game doesn't have many blood effects, because it was a real slaughterfest.

Well, for one I have it.

You can pretty much run new games on high no problem, even can run GTA V on high at 40-50, which is smooth enough.

You could also go the Radeon route, where you can get a pretty powerful card for about 300 dollars with the RX580.

And I consider it the best bang for your buck at this moment, although i'm thinking about getting an RX580 soon, because well, I had a Radeon RX480 and loved the hell out of that card and it didn't break the bank, ran everything at ultra and i'm sure the 580 can do the same.

You also came into a good time to be in the video card market since prices are starting to lower considerably for cards.

Checked out some budget card lists and it was on a few, so your assessment definitely checks out.

Comparing it vs what I have now, though, it's surprisingly not a huge bump up in performance... (I think this was what I was seeing when comparing cards before, and what made me think, eh, maybe next year.) Though I do play a fuckton of video games, and have been unable to run a few due to low FPS, such as BF1.

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-560-Ti-vs-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti

Not sure if it'd be worth splurging for. I have the money but am kind of a miserly POS. The significantly lower power consumption is kinda nifty, though. Over time that might save me enough to justify it, heh. You think this is really worthwhile?

You also have to take in account like you said your card has years and years of wear and tear on it.

I say take the plunge, because seeing as you have a ti model, base cards are going to be a bit weaker, the 1050ti should cover all your bases for your budget gaming needs. It even ran Total War: Warhammer with all the bells and whistles up to High and 4xAA, and if you played a total war game you know a lot goes on.

Hmm. Might be worth thinking about. I bought this system off of a friend. It was absolutely top of the line when he bought it. Then it started having intermittent lockup issues. So I bought it off of him for a song.

Turns out the liquid cooling unit was fucked, plus the video card came factory overclocked and couldn't handle it. Replaced the liquid cooling with standard fans and underclocked the GPU.

So actually, I'm technically running it even worse than standard, and the numbers I'm seeing there aren't exactly accurate.

Think you may have convinced me. I've made all sorts of other bad financial decisions, but this one may actually make some sense. Thanks!

Considering it's essentially the same thing, yeah. The 500 series is just a minor process refinement over the 400 series. Good old AMD rebranding. Unless a few fps improvement is worth it to you, you might want to stick with the 480 you've already got. You'd be better off getting a GTX 1060 6GB over the 580, or better yet, wait for the GTX 2000 series.

Same, plus for most of the game you're constantly finding more powerful gear to equip. But towards the final chapters these instant upgrades suddenly stop and you have to get into the whole crafting system which you could easily ignore up to to that point.
Which would be ok if it was a simple upgrade system like in Dark Souls or something. But no, there are tons of modifiers to consider and demystify for every piece of equipment, it's pretty overwhelming.

I just beat XCOM2 for the first time. It was on rookie but still it was pretty hard at some points, idk if I just suck or if the game is just that hard. The final mission was pretty brutal but I assumed that after you killed the avatars the enemies that spawned with them would have to be killed too. Next time most of the focus will just be on the avatars
I also never made any psi operatives and the last mission made it apparent that they could probably come in handy with their mind control and other powers

>Next time most of the focus will just be on the avatars
I made the same mistake and got squad wiped my first time.

>I also never made any psi operatives and the last mission made it apparent that they could probably come in handy with their mind control and other powers
Due to how long it takes to train them and not being able to simply find other guys who're already good soldiers, it's basically so nerfed and time intensive it's often not actually worth the bother. I usually don't even bother and if I do usually it'll just be like one or two guys particularly because they're so weak and nerfed to hell in the beginning and at best have a shitty rifle with horrible aim without EXO suits or Warsuits they're shit and don't even deal that much damage or have spectacular effects for awhile. Odds are by the time you can actually make use of them you'll already have well trained actual soldiers. It's nothing like EU where you can actually have a good soldier AND mind control, particularly because it's only a once per mission use (seeing as how hilariously OP it was in XCOM EU they nerfed it).

>It was on rookie but still it was pretty hard at some points, idk if I just suck or if the game is just that hard.
No it really genuinely is that hard. Especially in the beginning since XCOM has the inverse difficulty curve, but it's still risky in late game. I also learned the hard way how you absolutely cannot play this game drunk. I almost feel like drunk driving or operating a chainsaw would be easier. Somehow and I'm not sure why but even having just a few beers ruined my ability to play it. You're absolutely gonna wake up with a dead squad next day.

You should try it on Ironman sometime. I forget if I only completed it on Veteran or if I did highest difficulty, but I'm pretty sure I beat it on highest once. Yes it is actually possible to do so however you're likely going to wind up burning through a few abandoned early games just to get there, especially since one single wipe of some best trained people will hobble you so bad that you're likely to fuck up the next mission leading to a downward spiral.

It also is in general a lot harder than EU, which was much much easier particularly because your dudes are literally as heavily armed and armored as Sectopods. In 2 it is quite easy to get KO'd in a single hit even in late game, and by late game you can suffer at best 2-3 shots before going down. No more of this super soaker bs when enemies hit you it fucking hurts. The AI also seemed a lot smarter in 2. Even on normal difficulty you don't have much room for error.

speaking of sectopods, those things are bullshit
unless you take it out in the first turn or throw out a mimic beacon you're pretty much guaranteed to lose a soldier it seems like, especially how they're able to shoot TWICE in one fucking move
On one UFO mission I encountered 3 of those sons of bitches and was lucky enough to not lose anyone because I had 6 of my top soldiers, two of which were grenadiers with blue screen rounds and a couple beacons

And Ill take your advice about the psi operatives, doing a bit of searching online everyone says the same thing.

Oh you mean sectos in XCOM 2? Yeah they're not just heavy soldiers, they're actual mechanized weapons platforms that can ruin your day. The best way to actually deal with sectopods is to rely on sound. You can hear the sons of bitches moving around and more often than not crashing into things and taking out walls. This should give you a rough idea of where they are so you can ambush them. Mimic beacons are indeed often considered to be kind of OP and frankly cheesing it with a couple beacons is sometimes the only way to go. You have to shred the armor of the fucking things. Acid works quite well on mechs. Then just make absolutely sure you're not going to have your position flanked by whoever else is around, take cover and pray for the best. Especially pray they try to pull that cannon thing which at least gives you time to move out of the way and not get shot that turn. Hackers are only marginally effective. I can't remember if I ever even successfully hacked on
hmm well I did get this achievement
>Meat Over Metal
>Kill a Sectopod on the same turn you encounter it

So you know, it is entirely possible to wipe the fucking thing before it even has a chance to rail you, but hacking is hard af on them and often at best you'll just shut it down, which is absolutely critical. You can then focus on the aliens running around while the machine is hacked to shut down for a bit, then wail on the thing as hard as you can before it gets moving again. So yeah it is absolutely nothing like XCOM EU in fact I actually had trouble playing it at first because I was so used to the former game that my instincts were all wrong. You really need to strip the armor and/or shut it down, ambush them by hearing the metal stomping/crashing, and preferably have the tech unlocked so you can see exactly who you are going into battle against and plan accordingly. Typically that involves lots of WAR suits, grenadiers with EMP grenades, and bluescreen rounds and probably a hacker. Although funnily enough most of my squad deaths were just from regular troopers. You often forget they hurt too, and it's when you're pinned down they tend to flank you and pick off wounded soldiers because you're too distracted by the sectopod.

>And Ill take your advice about the psi operatives, doing a bit of searching online everyone says the same thing.
I mean they're actually pretty fucking useful when you've leveled them up, it's just the problem is it takes so much time that you basically have to decide at the beginning you're just going to rush the tech and start training as early as possible. Things like mind control and some of their psi damage abilities are fantastic, it's just it takes like a month to get anywhere near that.

Been playing the frozen wilds DLC. Shit is dope, beautiful. I wish I could turn down the snow effect in some places though, but I imagine they were intending for it to obfuscate your vision.
Some of the story themes have been repeating but I still appreciate the writing a lot. I think Aloy is my favorite female protagonist. Gaming needs more qt ginger heroes.
The combat mechanics of this game are really creative imo. It all feels very fluid. I just wish the skill tree was a bit more complex. It's great, but by the end of the game you basically just end up with every skill. I wish there was more choice.

Looking forward to NG+. Also, for the first time I wish I had a PS4+ or whatever the upgraded version is, so that i could enjoy this game in it's maximum beauty.
