Last thread was obviously wiped, time to stop living in 2018 and post what you're playing in 2019.
Just beat Yakuza 6 last night, and still going through Hitman

This game is so fucking runnable. With RE7, I got bored after 2 runs and didn't even bother with the Not a Hero and Joe Baker DLCs. It's not as good as RE3 or the original RE2 but it's definitely on par with RE4.

The challenge was to dump all 4 targets in Colorado into the sludge pit by the barn. So I thought instead of taking out each one and having to stealthily drag their bodies to the pit, or even luring each one to the pit then taking them out, I would just try to kill all the NPCs in the level leaving the four targets, then take them out, then in broad daylight dragging their terrorist asses to the pit because there's no NPCs in my way. Pretty sure I killed everyone possible in the level. It got so bad I had to abandon my spot because I was dropping framerate.
I'm also replaying Hollow Knight after the Silksong announcement got me all hyped
AND i'm playing Shovel Knight Spectre of Torment after beating the main game. Finally beat the boss run at the end. Spectre of Torment is pretty fun but i'm a little disappointed in the reuse of bosses. They use different moves and abilities but I was wanting to see some new faces on the roster

I been replaying Hollow Knight. Trying to get all the achievements. I've got 100% completion on Steel soul mode, wasn't actually that hard. But I'm stuck on the last achievement I need, the Pantheon ending. You have to do a boss rush, kill every single boss in the game in a row and then a final super hard boss. There's 43 bosses, each run takes an hour. What the fuck.

It's not quite like LSD Dream Simulator, but there are some definite similarities.

It's kind of slow paced until you start unlocking traversal upgrades, but that only takes like an hour or two. Dunno what you mean by obtuse though, it's a pretty straightforward Metroidvania. The lore is intentionally vague, but like Dark Souls, you can just ignore it.

It's charming, but I agree, the first hour or so is definitely a slog. I also find it impossible to get back into once I've stopped playing for a long period of time. I need like another hour just to figure out where everything is, but that could be because I'm bad at metroidvanias.

S stands for Sick! I was playing it last night and was thinking about just how much I'd rather have a RE4 remake with the new engine instead of RE3. As well polished as the RE2make is, I don't think it's overall that great of a game and I can't really put my finger on why exactly. I think it's something about the scale, like the levels are too small for how much game they're trying to jam into them if that makes any sense.

I agree with you on RE2. I think it has something to do with the rushed feeling scenario layout of the game or something like that, but I'm just speculating.

>like the levels are too small for how much game they're trying to jam into them if that makes any sense.

Not really. Capcom completely nailed recursive level design with backtracking that doesn't feel like you're retreading old ground despite going through the same areas multiple times. Like the originals, it's designed to be a relatively short game that takes 2x-3x as long the first few times you play it as you begin to understand the objectives, map routing, and what key items and resources you'll need and in what order you'll need them in. Not only did Capcom recapture this from the original but they also improved and modernized it in a triumphant way. From a pure gameplay and level-design standpoint, this is exactly what an RE2 Remake needed to be.

Finally got S+ with Leon. I actually had a very bad time in the sewers with the G-Embryos. Ironically, I coasted past them at first and got all the way to the lab pretty swimmingly but then hesitated when the Lab Lickers popped out a little too long and got proper fucked. Went back to my first save I made when I arrived at the Monitoring Room and got wrecked by bad RNG over and over trying to get out of the Bottom Waterway.

Crazy that my Claire and Leon As are both within 4 seconds of each other though.

Beat Crackdown 3. Had some fun with it, but goddamn what a disappointment after all these years. The main thing that made Crackdown 1 so fun to play was that Pacific City felt like a real, lived-in, if somewhat exaggerated, city, which made it fun to run around blowing shit up and jumping on top of five-story buildings to collect agility orbs. The new city just feels like a giant jungle gym made for the player and isn't believable at all, and the boring, samey, Ubisoft-style objectives scattered around don't help either. The story is just dumb and constantly gets in the way of the gameplay, too.

Wouldn't recommend unless you LOVED Crackdown 1 and just want more of the same.

It can be boring if you get stuck in some of the first bits. Without the mobility upgrades and with minimal directions and maps, it's pretty easy to get stuck bouncing around optional areas without a clue where to go next. The first time I played it I also put it down after two hours of that. But man am I glad I came back to it.

I think what makes it so enjoyable for me is the combat, never got bored of it. Specifically the Colosseum of fools, it makes you master so many crazy combat moves. Like making the floor lava and having you kill enemies for a bit while always remaining airborne using wall jumps and double jump if you have it.

>Animal Crossing

I wasn't actually sure of what the game was about before i bought it. Didn't really know what i was supposed to do in the game. First time i jammed it in my DS, i ran around the Village for a bit before i gave up on it. Didn't realize the game is meant to be played at your own pace, just keep coming back for it every now and then, at least that what i think it is im still not sure. Even if it wasn't, i kinda enjoy this pace. I have my DS next to my bed all the time so i check on the town before i go to sleep and when i woke up. I thought Animal Crossing was Nintendo's take on the Farming Simulator genre but im just chilling here with my neighbors and try to make the most money out of my Turnips. Its a nice game but it throws me off a bit cause i've been so used to just playing the game from start to finish as quick as i can. I dont think this game has an ending.

All Animal Crossings are basically the same. Theres an end goal (paying off your debt and getting the biggest house, completing the museum, getting the best home ranking, do all of the holiday events) but its more about the getting there at your own pace. IMO if you try to rush animal crossing you're gonna have a bad time. Its more of a game to play for like an hour a day. I like the first animal crossing the best, but thats mainly for the tunes.

>Dragon Quest 11: Draconian Mode

I started Act III about a week ago after finishing Resident Evil 2. I still miss the Mordegon timeline party. For me, personally, the game did a really good job at building a bond with each of the party members during Timeline A. Now I have 100 hours clocked in. Dicking around with a bunch of post game content. There's so much shit to do after Act II.

Pic related: I found this screenshot of someone comparing DQ11 to FFXV. I love it.

One of the characters certainly is.

I didn't take many pictures and I don't want to spoil anything, if you liked TSP you'd probably like this, there's open ended puzzles and lots of secrets to find, it's not quite so linear as TSP and there is some gameplay here. I think it works for what it's trying to do / be.

That's such a pedestrian thing to say. It's easy to fix the engine issues with ENBoost's expanded memory management and get around the race conditions by locking the game to a single thread during loading. Any crashes after that are either due to issues in the mod itself like dirty edits, corrupt nifs and missing navmeshes, etc. Anything else is all down to user error by not knowing how to follow instructions, meeting all the prerequisites, and not sorting your load order properly.

Pogeymans Platinum
I started playing a few days ago and what do you know Sword and Shield got announced right after that. The real reason I started playing is because I never played beyond gen 3 and plan to start collecting TCG cards again, just casually. I've got a few generations to go but when I do start collecting i'd like to at least recognize the ones I collect
I used to have a pretty good collection when I was a young lad, I even had one of them holo charizards that are apparently worth like 300 dollars these days but sold them off after becoming a teen and wanting money for other things
I don't have a 3DS but luckily I can play gen 4 and 5 on an emulator for now, sword and shield look great so i'm glad I already have a switch

You know, even going back as far as the Gameboy, WayForward has been dishing out quality licensed games. I’m just sitting here playing Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I’m telling you it’s actually pretty good. Hard to imagine how they kept it up for long, but WayForward is the type of studio that takes that shit seriously. As much as love Shantae, I still prefer games like The Mummy Demastered to their Original work. That game had no right to be as good as it was. Only game by them that I didn’t think was that great was the Adventure Time game on the DS and I guess BloodRayne Betrayal. I guess I ought to get excited for Bloodstained, but I’m not sure how i feel about the way the game looks. Their is just something off about it, like it would hurt my eyes to play the game for a long time or something.

I have so many conflicting emotions with the new Pokémon Games. For one I’m excited for it, it’s a new game in a new direction, but to walk away from the classic handheld experience and the charming graphics is just a bit too much for me. I don’t think the Switch is a very comfortable “Handheld” to play on, doesn’t feel like it was designed for it so the whole handheld part about it always felt like a gimmick rather than anything. Always hated the Wiiu controller and the switch just feels exactly the same to me. Now I’m not saying the 3DS was perfect, my 3DSXL is actually pretty heavy if you compare to the DSXL, and the graphics are no longer your usual pixelated experience so finally making it official by moving the Pokémon Franchise to the big console line is inevitable but still. I don’t know, it’s hard for me to finally say goodbye to the Nintendo HandHeld devices. I’ve been kinda in Denial ever since the Switch was Released and now that the New Pokémon game was finally announced, it finally dawned on me that it is actually happening. No more Nintendo Handhelds man. That’s kinda messed up.

Yeah I’m also doing a final run through the Pokémon games just to say goodbye. Finished the original Pokémon yellow on the gameboy color and the game is still good fun to this day. You should look into playing the remakes instead of the original, as far as it goes, I think they did a good job with them.

Just the other day I saw him change IPs within the span of like 15 minutes, it's fucking madness
I wish the mods would ban him but 1. He's really not doing anything illegal besides being a giant faggot and 2. He'd just switch to a new connection

I think they don't really see it as sexualization. Think of Rambo covers with Stallone and his rippling muscles.

There are a lot of Japanese guys who will go the other way though. It's pretty common. But meanwhile there is basically no LGBT community, and people just assume such people don't exist. It's weird.

Kinda regret getting Dawn of Man, not because it's a bad game (although it sorta lacks variety and big endgame projects), but I always lose interest in these Banished-likes after unlocking most of the buildings. Cool theme, though, and very polished. Maybe I'll give it a while and try one of the harder maps.

It's been a while, but I think outside of hunting Banished has more depth and variety overall. They aren't entirely the same game, like advancing through the ages is cool and having to defend yourself from raids is a nice touch - even if I wish there was more to it, like being able to launch raids of your own, for example. Or at least more options for controlling your fighters. Anyway I probably wouldn't recommend it in its current state/price, but they said they're planning to expand the late game through free patches, so definitely something to watch if you're into the genre.

Its kind of weird being back in this game. I used to play the original CoD4 on xbox and now that i'm on PS4 the games seem super quiet which is a nice change. Its pretty common for online playstation games though since mics are sold separately and a lot of people dont even bother

I’m not even sure why I help the town folks. I kinda gave up anyways and just open the gift they ask me to deliver cause I just can’t be bothered looking for the recipient. Build a clock and a watch but both pretty pointless. I’m actually kinda mad cause I spent all this cash and barely anyone helped me. This game would work out great as mobile game but it’s weak so far.i feel like I’m gonna regret spending 20 on it. It’s not strange for a cute game to have deep and thoughtful gameplay and Narrative. You might be surprised but cooking mama is a proper cooking game for children but even someone like me can learn from Mama and I love cooking. I’m pretty good at it too, you have to be if you’re a vegetarian. Mama doesn’t just put you through a recipe, nah she shows you what happens in between. You get to learn which vegetables you need to toss on th pan depending on what you’re cooking and how to make eggs with a white and fluffy feel and taste to it. She really does teach kids how to properly cook.

Legend of Legacy, a game that’s currently kicking my Ass has a kinda of cutesy look to it. This game is freaking Brutal though. Worse part of it, the leveling up is tied to chance, a kind of lottery thing going for it. Playing RPG games for long hours is fine for me cause I know the more time I spend the stronger the party gets. Now my party doesn’t level up, I’m supposed to keep exploring and maybe if I’m lucky a party member will get a new skill. I don’t think they thought this game through to be honest. It’s pretty infuriating. Your playthrough could easily become a a cakewalk or just the most brutal shit you’ll ever play depending on your luck and I tend to be unlucky in games.

Animal crossing though I don’t know. I don’t feel like there is a lot going on for the game and I honestly not willing to keep checking on it from time to time. I guess I’ll check on my town everyday for a week. If things don’t get better I think I’ll just drop it.
I got The new Fate Extra game coming out soon, this one has playable Astolfo.

Yea they saw a couple PETA videos, and now everyone who eats meat is a piece of shit. Most have never even been to a farm or a private meat seller. Yes, I have -- three in fact -- because many of my family members are farmers. Small farmers treat their animals like shit too, they don't give a shit. I still have childhood trauma from seeing my uncle stabbing a pig to death; the pig took too long to die and its screams were horrifying to hear, I remember it even shit itelf because of how painful that was. Small farmers are held to little to no scrutiny because people think they're saints for some reason, but they're usually ignorant bible thumping, pieces of shit deprived of empathy. Lets give these people the right to kill as many animals as they want, what could possibly go wrong!

Fucking vegetarians, man, these fucking uppity kids wanting people to stop killing animals left and right and innevitably causing insane amounts of suffering in the process, fucking douchebags.

It's because you're still killing the thing. It would be like if someone said they ate dog, and then said no it's okay they don't eat Chinese factory farm dogs only the dogs that get to run in a field for several years before being slaughtered. It's selective morality and j think the cognitive dissonance itself is why those people get so butthurt when someone says they abstain from it entirely, although industrialized flesh factories are their own specific type of horror. Nb for getting wildly off topic.

Saw something similar growing up in Mexico. They slit a pigs throat while it was hung upside down to drain it faster, the fucker screamed literally bloody murder for a full minute before it died. Those were some damn good tacos that night though. Same thing when my uncle killed a cow one time, him and a couple of his buddies were drunk one night and made a bet my uncle couldn't kill a cow(which was about to be killed anyways) by throwing an axe at his head. My uncle got the cow first try and it was the loudest POP I've ever heard. Again some good ass food to be had afterwards. Im not saying that small time farmers aren't pieces of shit, but they're usually just trying to eat and live just like everyone else. And yea, Skanga meats are owned by bible thumping pieces of shit, but man they sell some good steak.

I agree with you, Yu! we base our cultural pets around how we used them in the past, because dogs were more important as a tool for hunting and foraging in western countries, we consider them more valuable and sacred than typical livestock like cows and pigs (whether this should still remain the case in todays world is a question for another day!) anways I agree and hope you have a good day man.

>Legend of Zelda A link between Worlds

Absolutely amazing. Loved every minute of it. Never have I ever felt a game suck me in that I had to sit next to my charger just to keep playing.
A link to the past is my favorite and I still prefer it, but that’s mostly the Nostalgia cause this 3DS remake did everything right. I’ve been playing lots of shitty games lately so this one really hit the spot.

Playing Shenmue remaster and what in the actual Fuku-san.

It sounds HORRIBLE. And I actually switched to the original, which certainly doesn't sound good, but not HORRIBLE. The original audio is clearly low sample rate low bit depth as they were gonna play this shit on the Saturn at one point and you haven't exactly got CPU cycles coming out of your ears for MPEG decompression.
So they shrunk the audio data the only way they could. BUT WHY IN THE FUCK did they do lossy compression on it in its poor format already? It sounds like absolute dogshit. Why not build OPEN SOURCE FLAC support into the fucking thing?

Also, despite being a remaster it looks worse. The Dreamcast version has shadows the PC doesn't. Now the DC version isn't perfect, the shadows in Ryo's hair would overlap and look funky, but it's not nearly as jarring as the blocky shadows that don't include his hair or jacket.
Meanwhile, they had the opportunity to replace the jank-ass original motion blur with modern motion blur. But they removed the fog effect and upgraded the water texture ever so slightly so fucking HD Remaster ladies and gentlemen.

And they couldn't even make the controls a LITTLE less shit? Like, make use of the analog stick in any way other than emulating a D-pad? This is the worst goddamn "remaster" I've ever seen. They didn't remaster shit apart from the UI. It's literally just a port, and not even a good one.

There's no excuse for any aspect of the game to look or sound worse 18 years later. Absolutely none.

I had mostly forgeten the entire game and the first and only other time i played it was with the 40k conversion so I missed a lot by way of just purifying the wasteland via exterminatus. I'm always finding new shit to do and the inbuilt survival through hardcore mode is perfect. This time around I'm paying attention to all the factions at play and so far I'm neutral with a side of helping house and famed with NCR. I learned how to play caravan and beat the crazy old man in novac. took the 800 caps winnings and went to the strip and put 10% on 14, 45% on red and the rest on even. came up 14, now I'm rich as fuck.

Have been looking for this a while, played it a bit when I was a teen but totally forgot the name of it.
It's kind of silly, both in the characters and graphics, but comfy also. The attention to detail is almost a bit spergy (EVERY single book in every bookshelf has it's own title, everything on screen has some flavour text). Music is super good.
Something for when you just want to toke up with a cup of tea and play something quirky and get comfy.

Haven't played blossom yet but it looks like a pretty good zelda clone so i'm excited for that, i'm gonna start it tomorrow
Played less than two hours of dead cells and I suck some dick. I Keep dying in the promenade because those two sword guys that hit like a truck. Its a really interesting game and fun, i've never really played anything like it.
I was gonna get hitman 2 but I have been playing hitman 1 so much that I figured I should give myself a break. AY I just got back into Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

After realising the main missions were too easy i decided to do a tour of the fighting clubs. This is probably the most fun to play this game. Drive to one, struggle to beat all 6 rounds, do that for all of them and then do the Enter the Dragon style Zodiac Tournament, which I just did last night having known nothing about it. I actualy now need to take on the monestary, I remember playing that part and when you think youve finished suddenly like 20 monks come out. I m also gonna do a tour of the races. Having lived in Hong Kong this game takes me back especially as I got in a stupid feud with some criminal bar owner and got in fights and beat up irl [sp]

On another note, next months free PS+ games are going to be The Surge and Conan Exiles. Anyone have experience with either of these? I've never played them.
Pretty sure ill get at least SOME fun out of The Surge since its souls-like, Conan idk i've read a lot of reviews that completely shit on it but I could go for some survival fun. Consensus seems to be its a pretty meh month

Eh? And it's 3rd person?

When you've played more I'm definitely interested to hear what it's like. The first one was cool but not very accessible... never quite got into it. Could see the potential though, with tuning. In 3rd person it could be the right move.

Playing Elex again, goddamn this game is fucked. But the world is beautiful and exploring is awesome. The janky combat and poor leveling mechanics could be excused, but the difficulty curve is just the worst. You'll be spending the first 6 hours or so just doing non-combat quests and running from almost every mob because everything murders you.
But man once you get past the initial wall and get going it's really statisfying.

Right on it's fucked. Yet it's one of those rare games which gave me some really great memories of exploring vast hand crafted places.

It's kinda hard to explain the feeling. It's like exploring places you feel you're not really supposed to be, but because of the hardship and experience you gained you still can.
It's something Zelda BotW refined but it lost some of the edge in the process.

How can anyone eat animal parts when they're high

Even an egg is pretty disgusting when you think about it, which you absolutely will while you're high. I mean it is literally mucus fried or boiled into being solidified mucus that came out fo a chickens ass. If you have any sense of smell you can smell the mucus. Meat is even more disgusting. This is probably why I stop being hungry when I'm high. Only star apple jam sounds delicious. Sugar is delicious. Fruit is delicious. Nuts are also pretty good. Everything else I'm pretty sure God did not originally intend for us to eat. Like clams. That shit is disgusting while sober.

I think I can live on a diet of entirely fruits and weed and avacado. I think I should fulfill this dream.

Mucus and semen are mostly Polysaccharides and not protiens. The egg white is the undeveloped protein of the chick, and the yolk is just fat stores that eventually connects to the umbillicus before being consumed as food energy by the chick during development.

You know what that's the other thing. I fucking hate it when you're high and around a woman who wants to have sex. Why I do not know because I'd imagine being jabbed repeatedly internally while high would be a horrifying psychological sensation, way more than it's unpleasant being a guy. Or an acid. Why would someone want such a thing? Am I just having a more extreme psychedelic headspace reaction or something? Because eating and having sex are horrible things when you're high or tripping on acid. So is drinking alcohol. Especially on mushrooms. You know the full reality of it being organ destroying poison.

>>734312
Hence you will notice I specifically said fruit. Fruit does not harm or kill anything. Fruit is specifically designed by the host organism to be delicious, so that way you'll consume the cells that made the fructose rich fruiting body along with its encased genetic material and poop it out thus providing a fresh nourishing manual meal to kickstart the life of its offspring. Fruit is the kind of stuff you eat as a Buddhist monk. I think weed just facefucks your mind brutally with the reality of your actions. Even eating a carrot may feel a bit awful but only insofar as it is a recognition of the supreme horrorshow being a lifeforms typically entails.

>>734311
No. If I can barely do egg when I'm stoned why the hell would I enjoy using my face to rip dead flesh out of a heated corpse? I am a necromorph with a conscience. It looks terrible. Oh God and you can smell the bird smell in the flesh and the bones. Not being a cigarette smoker shows you even more awful reality. Just the presence of bones, it is terrible. And the smell. Oh God, ghe fucking smell. Try smelling raw egg when you're high. Then cover a chewed dog bone with raw egg and smell it. It smells like corpses and inescapable horror and 93 different distinct forms of mucus, none of them human.

it's really fucking good. they took the original design and extended it into a 3D environment and managed to change only what had to be changed to keep the mechanics, it works far better than i would've expected.

it's also harder. you gotta worry about what's behind you now, and also because close to 50,000 players jumped into it and most of them seem to be new. people are still learning to prioritize getting the fuck out of a level within 10 minutes instead of letting the difficulty steadily tier up while they scrounge around for more loot. on the plus side half the fun is a direct result of the shit making full contact with the fan.

Booze may harm your organs, especially over time, but it's also a pretty great general drug, which is why it has had such universal success across almost every culture worldwide. No other drug can rival it in that regard. Top 5 or possibly even top 3, from an objective standpoint.

Also, fantastic for a mushroom/acid comedown. Rounds off the edges nicely.

By popular decision it's the best drug, though ease of creation does have a bit to do with it.

I don't get dumb, violent, annoying or dizzy with it. I get empathic, joyful and silly. I bond with my fellow human beings despite the fact that we will all die soon.

Like any drug, its misuse destroys lives and families. This is true for any drug that can be used regularly, and also some that can't. Its benefits to society have been seen by almost every society to outweigh the problems that it can cause. It is the highlander of drugs.

Pot's not been legal long enough to see how it'd affect family structures, I don't think. Mostly the older people who used it in the past were open-minded and kind. We're starting to see more shitheads use it these days as it explodes in popularity, so we'll have to wait a good hundred years or so to see how that works out.

I agree about the after-effects; that's why I never drink until I can keep drinking and then go to bed. You should be sleeping those off. Could never understand anyone who drinks in the day.

Lately I've been checking out Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic

It's finicky as hell and incredibly obtuse right now - getting all your roads and conveyors to snap together is a huge pain, you have to constantly level and re-level terrain when you're building a big production complex, or really anything (god help you if it's in the mountains), nothing is explained and a lot of it is completely unintuitive... but I fucking love it. It combines like, Tropico-style citybuilding with a bunch of logistics/transport sim elements, no political system (yet?) but even in it's current state it's super in-depth - a huge map with a ton of different production chains and period-accurate vehicles (that you have to individually micromanage, require fuel, etc...)

I dunno if I'd recommend it right now unless you're really into the theme and have the patience to learn all the quirks, but I can see myself sinking a ridiculous amount of time into it when it's a little more polished

I'm sure the development process was completely different, but gameplay wise most of the mechanics translate pretty perfectly to a 3d looter shooter. A simple game. In the hour I've played it I'm already in the top 100 on the scoreboards. Getting kinda frustrating though, some obstacles are extremely difficult to get through and it's largely RNG when/if those show up.

Went to get the beta and found out Ubisoft has changed their mind and won't be selling Anno 1800 on steam anymore. I can only assume it's going to be a uplay exclusive. Guess I'm just gonna pirate it now. The only thing that stopped me from buying the other Anno games (after I'd pirated them) was that I'd have to get uplay to play them even on steam. Can't fathom why anyone would spend money on an inferior product (that comes with bloatware) when you can get a superior product for free. Ubisoft needs to figure their shit out.

I think you can still pre-order on Steam and you'll be able to play it there, but yeah, Epic and Uplay after release. But TBH piracy is probably the way to go regardless of the store. Again I haven't spent much time with it, but I haven't noticed any real changes to the formula. The early game at least feels like Anno 1404 with nicer graphics and no hemp farms :(

latest update messed with armor values. if an enemy cracks your armor, instead of wearing off now it's permanently reducing the armor value of the gear. all my shit was ruined and i was equipping anything i could find. this was also applying to my horns, which are a mutation and cannot be unequipped. hopefully this gets ironed out soon.

Got to max speed in Verti-Go Home, according to the scoreboards only 30~ people (with PS accounts) have gotten that far? I can see why with how repetitive it is but it's certainly intense after a point. My only real complaint is certain times the obstacles just roll into your path and there's nothing you can do about it because the entire path was blocked the same instant you had to pass through it.
Fun for the $2.89 I spent on it.

Then in the 90s sleep released "Dopesmoker" an album about smoking pot. I am not about to tell Sleep they are wrong about pot. It'd be like telling you that you're wrong about being an unlikeable know nothing know it all.

But hey at least I've got bring the noise in my head which is pretty dope.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get Ultimate Skyrim running. You would think with the express installation and automaton it would be easy but somewhere along the line things go wrong and I have to start the process all over again for another six hours or so. I’m not even excited to try it, it’s just something I wanted to fuck around for a bit.

Gun Club VR.
(volume warning)

It's fun, but some levels are pretty dang hard, especially sniper levels with how imprecise the move controllers are. Pistols work great though, and any fully auto weapon can have controlled fire or just aim a little lower than you want to compensate for recoil.

Bolt/pump action weapons though... eugh.

Finally Got it working, turns out it was a problem with the drive itself. Serves me right for buying seagate.

I’m pretty happy with it. The entire modpack experience seems to be designed to resemble Morrowind and previous games of Elder Scrolls.

It’s a lot of fun I have to admit, it’s got that Morrowind charm to it. I started off as a pathetic peon (still am) and almost everything kills me except for the rats which I hunt for cheap food. Spent around three hours just getting to know the game and understand my limits. For the mean time, I’m sticking to Morthal. The Area is perfect for leveling up my Herbalism until I make enough money to get gear and Venture further. I picked the Permadeath option which makes the game really immersive and enjoyable. I just hope I don’t get killed by a glitch or something but the game is very stable.

Unbox : Newbie's Adventure

I thought it was gonna be awful but it's actually a pretty fun playground. The hub and first level are stuffed with collectibles in every nook and cranny, but the snow level is at the same time too big and big enough, there are huge areas with almost no collectibles at all, but also huge ski tracks you can move at high speed through, so it's kinda mixed.
Music gets pretty repetitive. Controls are a little janky but it usually works well enough, the air jump mechanic is basically your safety net for nonsense if you can recover quick enough.

What's nice though, is that (in the first two levels at least) everything has been placed with purpose, there's almost no area that has nothing to be found or experienced (except the ice level) and I can feel like everything was placed by hand and not just with a terrain brush and a few strings of collectibles.

This third ice level is kinda fuckhuge and I'll never find all the collectibles in it, it took me hours to get all the collectibles in the relatively tiny hub world.

I really wanted to get into Zero, but I went into Kuze fight totally unprepared and didn't realize the game practically expects you to spam recoverables to win. I got really frustrated at the idea of quitting, stocking up, and going through that whole fucking building sequence again, so I just dropped it like two hours in. I feel like I didn't even make it far enough to experience the full game proper, and I'm bummed because besides the tedious brawler combat, I really liked it.

Finally got into Subnautica. Didn't bother for a long time because I loathe open world + crafting hype. Boy was I wrong when it comes to this game, I expected a random generated world but instead it seems carefuly hand crafted. Also those big motherfuckers, the darkness, and claustrophobia genuinly scare me at times.

I finally got built the big submarine and I'm trying to explore the deeper parts. I built my base near the starting point like a lil bitch but I want another one in a deeper place, any suggestions?

I got No Man's Sky on PS4 (a used copy for 20 bucks) thinking the VR update was already out, but unfortunately it's not until "Summer" this year. Wanted to hold off on playing it until then but I figured I'd try and get the hang of the mechanics and now I'm 50+ hours into it.

There's certainly some janky bits and parts that could be fleshed out a bit more, but for a fancy graphics minecraft with spaceships I think it works well enough. Excited for when the VR update finally comes out, that's gonna be a trip.

Same. I slept on it because I hate open world survival crafting games in general, but Subnautica basically takes everything good about the genre, and leaves out all the shit that sucks. Once I had the sub, I basically only used bases as battery recharge stations, but Tree Cove in the Lost River (pic related) is a good safe FOB for the late game. Build a bioreactor or slum it on geothermal energy if you don't need a lot of modules. No predators, Lava Zone adjacent, close to a variety of resources:

I'd been eyeing Dying Light for a while since it regularly goes on absurd sales, but the whole zombie crafting survival aspect kept turning me off. Yeah, the old town especially has a really cool vibe, I'm surprised at how many little interior nooks and crannies you can stumble across while running around on the rooftops. It feels like some are recycled, but there's still a lot of personality. Or the environment does, at least. The story and characters are pretty cliche, but I guess that's sorta par for the course with these kinds of games.

It's kind of an interesting story, but the gameplay mostly consists of walking from door to door in a drab condemned apartment building and talking to people on the other end, and occasionally jumping into a mindfuck horror map when you brain jack dead bodies. Pretty dull as far as walking simulators go.

You have to do some work planning out your fights because a single hit can kill, and it can be surprisingly easy to land wrong on a flip or jump attack and die from smacking your head into a rock. nb for dp.

Playing a bit of Aeon of Sands. It's super atmospheric and the setting is really creative, plus some excellent music (honestly I never buy game soundtracks but in this case I'm seriously considering it), but unfortunately the dungeon crawling isn't my favorite. Then again I was never a big fan of Dungeon Master style gameplay. I'll take boring M&M IV turn-based combat over endless circle strafing any day.

I played way too much if this game today. I beat Tales of Berseria this morning, experienced a beautiful catharsis, and proceeded to collect monster girls all afternoon.

On the bright side, never thought I'd have a monster girl harem that powers up by rubbing them. Life turned out better than 6th grade me would ever imagine>>735882

My issue with Compile Heart is that the last three games I played by them felt lackluster at best. They started off really strong but now with how Popular Neptunia series is and all the low effort spin offs they released, I can’t help but feel very cautious about their games.

But monster Harem is my jam so I’ll check it out.

Two shitty months in a row
Overcooked is probably fine but I have no one to play with and I also hear Edith Finch is really good but it's what a 3 hour game at most. There's been games they put up before that I've been busy with the whole month because they're so good, like Hitman

Imperator has all the standard Paradox release problems, will unquestionably get 999999999 DLC 'content packs' within a year, and lacks basic quality of live stuff or content for everyone but the suggested nations, but honestly it still feels like a more interesting and complex game than HoI4 was on release. I say that as someone who has an enormous hard-on for WW2 and almost zero interest in ancient history or fucking lame-ass Rome (whose AI probably needs a buff, btw, pic related. They pretty much folded within the first 50 years). Their business model absolutely deserves the review bomb, but in terms of the game itself, like, it's no Darkest Hour or CK2, but for a blobsim it seems like a good foundation. Still, might wanna wait.

I think if we're just comparing base foundations its definitely the best game they've ever made, bearing in mind I'm a massive Victoria 2 fan with a second place spot in my heart for EU.

My biggest problem with it is that the AI doesn't seem to be able to keep up with a player, more so than their other games, and once you hit your basic regional expansion goals you're basically unstoppable. Like that screenshot you posted is kind of bare bones what I'd want as the start of my borders as Carthage (who I havn't played as yet) but I know there's probably not a single country in the game who can even come close to standing up to you.

This was the first real game I did, started as a minor in Crete, unified Crete, unified Greece, became unstoppable, I don't even feel like I've blobbed that hard or have that big an empire but the game is essentially over.

Oh, nice. Do you get all the Macedonian decisions and events with that route? Yeah, I've mostly been using it as something to break up reading before finals, so I'm definitely not powergaming - Carthage seems like a beast if you use it to its full potential (and don't get into a huge civil war like someone *cough* did), but TBH I was hoping for a more interesting rivalry with Rome.

Honestly Paradox tutorials are a bit shit and this is no exception. Personally, I learned by picking manageable regional powers (not huge, sprawling empires) and just playing a few games. If you lose a war or two, roll with it and get a feel for how a typical game plays out. Before long you'll be on your way to forming Serbia in Vicky 2 or whatever the hell.

Been playing a lot of rocket league the last few days. I saw it in my library and realized I never really gave it a chance.
When it was more popular I bought it and played a total of around 2-3 hours, it just didn't stick with me. I didn't understand the movement and how the game should be played.
But I went back, played a few matches and started to really learn whats up. I still suck but I'm learning a lot more than when I initially played and because of that having a lot more fun.
I got into a match with someone that was clearly way above everyone elses play level today and he was doing some stuff that I still just dont get though. Like he'd drive the ball up the side of the arena, jump off with the ball and in midair direct it towards the goal. To a peasant like me that looked like some MLG shit and I just cannot wrap my head around how others can do stuff like that

there's training drills that players have made if you wanted to practice a bit of the aerial moves some more, but there's definitely guys like that in all game modes who are doing aerial moves off the walls even if they absolutely suck at doing them. I've had multiple team mates who try to emulate what the competitive Twitch streamers do (using the Batman vs Superman batmobile, aerials, going for boost at the pitch, etc,) and just failing every time.

It's a fun game in bursts, so I usually pick it up and play it for 1-2 hours with friends and then do something else.

I only wanted to play No Man's Sky a little before the VR update but I'm 100 hours in already.
I'm still excited for it when it does hit but I may exhaust almost all the meaningful content before it happens. I just bought a big honkin freighter for 80m which was a good upgrade from my 5m starter, and I'm already at my limit for exosuit space and mods.

There's some weird bugs and lack of features here and there that I hope are squashed with the update though... Like not being able to sell a ship, or how the scanner will point you to places you've already been, or how questgivers will just evaporate or move somewhere that has no NPCs to turn in the quest to.

It's pretty relaxing to play though, especially since I have maximum shield power now so it takes 10+ hits for me to even begin to be in danger (though shooting a grenade a little too close is still an instant YOU DIED)

Well, I'd rather a scifi rpg. I guess VTMB, KOTOR, and Planescape were some of the best I've ever played although at this point I can't stand the usual elf and wizard shit of most games. It's even worse if it's just flat medieval stuff. I have no idea why so many people insist on inhabiting and building these sorts of game worlds because the whole medieval era is unspeakably dog shit. I suspect they are all idiots who lived in a place like Brooklyn their whole lives and are terrified of pigeons as "wildlife" so what they want is a nature walking simulator. If I wanted to go throw old fruit at rabbits I'd do so, because that's what I normally do. I can't just walk out to the porch and get a nice view of Jupiter from one of its moons.
>Oh you meant that system
None because consoles are shit and I'm not about to drop a couple grand on multiple consoles that won't have anything I really care about that I could probably play on PC and much better anyway, although to be fair Dead Space plays like ass on a PC. It just doesn't seem like there's many rpgs set in space or hell anywhere not full of elves or knights and medieval pigshit. The last major one I can think of was Mass Effect and it was pretty mediocre all around.

>the new Shadowrun games are pretty good

Can confirm.

The first one isn't amazing. It has a cool first act but kinda goes downhill from there. Your teammates are mostly rando's you choose for every mission. Makes for nice variety but obviously there's 0 personality, some missions have story related runners.

Dragonfall is miles better in almost every way. You have a fixed team (party members) but they're all pretty well written and have interesting backstories and sidequests.

Hong Kong further builds on the improvements from Dragonfall. I didn't like the story and teammates as much but it's still pretty good. Also a lot less combat, many missions (especially early ones) can be completed without killing anyone. It kinda depends on how you build your character though.

The story is pretty understated, like April said. It's one of those where you get most of it through exploring and poking around where you shouldn't. Personally I loved the atmosphere and the freedom - like, it's easy to get completely lost off in a tunnel complex and then stumble across all sorts neat little areas that don't appear to have any relation to the main plot. Not super dialogue heavy, and after you level past the difficulty curve it can get a bit samey, so not for everyone. But worth checking out if the setting appeals to you since it's pretty cheap for the amount of content. I got it in early access, put in around 60 hours over 3 characters, and will probably hop back in for the new expansion.

Returns was better than Dragonfall I dont care what anybody says. I never liked Dragonfall that much. It's also got possibly the worst tonal dissonance of the entire series. Everything looks like some retarded children's cartoon in Dragonfall while your one companion is talking about being raped by Satan, but then even that story is told in such a hamfisted ass headed way like, let's talk about demon rape, but pretend demons are all cool wonderful people otherwise and some really weird fucking tone like it was some dumb shit written to not offend Wiccans or idk even wtf was going on with that part. I hated most of Dragonfall. So many parts of it were so incredibly stupid and dissonant I couldn't stand it. At least Returns made it work and kept the grimdark and made the color palette actually work. Hong Kong was a better game by far with a more interetsing and better told story, more well done characters especially the Triad lady, the color scheme actually worked with the story being told and better gameplay and so on. Dragonfall was the weakest in the whole series. I have no idea why so many people liked that game but just thinking about it makes me irritated again.

>>736841
> does kick your ass, though, which is cool.
Yeah I have no interest in playing a game just because it's difficult, which can easily translate into better terms like "unbalanced" or "tedious." If the game fails at storytelling and atmosphere too then it reminds me why I stopped giving a shit about that game soon after I tried playing it. What made Fallout good was precisely the story and atmosphere. Same thing with say Planescape. Nobody gives a shit about Fallout or Planescape because of the fighting. It makes it sound to me like the dev just tried cargo culting the post apocalyptic crpg thing without having any clue what made it awesome to begin with. I can put up with lack of polish if the gameplay is fantastic or it has at least a decent story. I already have Stellar Tactics with a similar lack of polish I have more interest in playing but I can't fucking fix the LoadLibrary failed with Error 87 problem because apparently it's an issue with the fucking AMD driver and my fucking chipset is so old that fucking AMD doesnt fucking support it anymore and I can't get a new one for it and I also can't fucking fix the issue by getting an old Catalyst version. It's been frustrating me for awhile and that error has killed my ability to play Transistor and Stellar Tactics so far and I haven't got a clue how to fix it because I can't even find the right driver version update. I tried Crimson or whatever the fuck the new control panel for AMD is supposed to be and multiple copies of Catalyst and nothing has fixed the problem although I probably also have literally hundreds of broken registry keys at this point too. I honestly have no idea how that machine even still runs at this point.

I'm still on SC2 HotS.

It's grown on me a lot but man, I can still feel the WoWfag taint all over it. It gets better but I can already tell there's going to be absolutely dumb fucking canon breaking shit about Amon. They already trashed the canon with the stupid shit on Zerus. Like the only fucking thing that really actually came from that world was the Zerg lava, yet for some utterly bizarre reason they decided to act like every single Zerg strain actually originally comes from some sort of wild beast on that world, not to mention the unbelievably obnoxious boss fights "I'll tear the flesh from your bones!" horseshit as if this is some sort of faggy WoW Horde port. Fuck I hate warcraft shit.

I mean the whole thing did start taking a bad direction all the way back in Broodwar, but this is pretty freakin bad. Gameplay and interface and all that jazz quickly improved but it just doesn't even feel remotely like a Starcraft story at this point. I can't even see myself trying to pirate the Protoss installment right now. The story clearly went in an awful direction and I haven't even started chasing down the Hyperion yet. I mean, it's just, so, bad. What kind of an idiot was in charge of the storyboards? No wonder Blizzard eventually got to that "you all have phones right" point. Gameplay is at least fine as long as you ignore the boss mission shit. I'm just cheatcoding my way through them at this point. Whoever thought having the "zerg" bosses on Zerus voiced is an idiot.

Can you guys help me find out the name of a game, I want to know if it was cancelled or not. I remember seeing some gameplay for it several years ago from E3
Best I can describe it was that it had a souls like feel but the camera placement was more like a third person shooter. I remember the gameplay I saw was a fully armored knight using a spear if I'm not mistaken

There's also a huge spectrum of Marina Sirtis.
And you can see it in her voice fading from Deanna Troi's accent into Marina Sirtis' accent over the course of TNG and movies.

Still playing Darksiders II
I feel like the game could have used some polish but i'm still having a lot of fun with it
The combat specifically could use some work and honestly its my least favorite part of the game but adventuring through the dungeons is a blast.
Theres also some other glaring problems but I think they're mostly because its basically just a port over to the PS4. Like in the menu screens you can't use the D-pad, instead of options being the start menu the touch pad button is, while options button brings up your inventory and what-not, and on the map screen you use the right stick to move the cursor instead of the left which feels counter intuitive as fuck

People generally react with violence as their response when what you said is true. It is their only recourse because they failed in the court of fact. So you must be admitting you realize the show is garbage and that everything made in the 00s and beyond was inferior to the 80s and 90s. Spongebob is the most visible example of the inferiority of 00s cartoons.

It's not really about anything, it's just a lot of visual stimulation, pretty much everything is moving so still screenshots are just not good for it.

I like it because it's colorful and there's no real goal, you just walk around and look at the environment and maybe find a door / object that takes you to a new area.

Think LSD Dream Simulator, but more randomized.

Playin on regular ps4. It does seem to push the hardware a bit. Sometimes the HUD will glitch out (map points everywhere/disappear) and stay that way until reboot. Before I installed the update there would be vast swathes of dialogue in which the characters' heads would be bobbing around but there mouths were shut and no words came out. Mostly minor shit and much less since the patch. But it's so good I don't even care. I like how it's short enough that I can actually remember what choices I made the first time so I can change stuff.

Strolling through FF VII, the only times I died was when I got confused when I had the Beta Enemy Skill queued up and well, low and behold, my character casts it on the party, we take more damage than we had HP and game over. Picked up American Fugitive on the Switch. It's basically a 3D top down GTA set in a small rural town. It's pretty fun but kinda repetive, partly because it lacks the crazy violence and chaos you'll find in the GTA series. But it's a lot more relaxing and atmospheric. Haven't gotten too far yet so I don't know if the main story is any good, the premise is interesting enough but it gets sidelined pretty quickly after the intro.

Also the performance (on the Switch at least) isn't great, but the developer already patched the most serious issues a couple of days after release so I guess they're working on it.

Been playing some classic wow... I forgot how much more fun MMOs are when the PvE isn't brain numbingly easy. People are grouping up, its almost like that was the point of MMOs! Killing mobs is dangerous if you make mistakes and don't have a party. You actually have to listen to what the quest-givers tell you to do instead of just following a glowing arrow until endgame.

definitely excited for full release of Classic

still think wayforward's giant bondage mermaid from the last shantae game did the mermaid angle better, but considering studio mdhr is new and wayforward has been packing niche weeaboo fetishes into family-friendly games for years, the gorgon mermaid is still phenomenally good design.

Rolling through parts of the game that used to be super hard for me as a kid/teenager. I think I may have accidentally overleveled a bit.

All FF7 aside, nostalgia is an incredibly powerful sensation. Merely seeing your pic triggered so much shit for me. A initial feeling of fear and excitement from my childhood hit me, and then I could hear the music playing as Junon is nearing destruction. Then empathy for the fallen weapon. Then anger at that cunt for stealing all my materia.

I can't wait to spend 3 million years trying to get a gold chocobo because the RNG is so wonky you have to save scum to get it just right.

It's certainly not as slick which is hard to expect from an indie studio compared to Rockstar.
There's a bigger focus on realism and stealth, as in you instantly attract cops when you get in a traffic accident or openly hold out a gun. IMO this isn't as annoying as some reviews may lead you to believe, just don't act like a typical GTA sociopath and you'll be fine.

There's also a neat mechanic of burglaring every house and holding up stores. It's not amazing but it's something I personally really missed in the GTA series.

I know how to get one, its just from what i remember, even if you fulfill the criteria, you still have a chance to just not get a gold chocobo, it was like a 1/10 chance, and restarting the save resets the RNG. Then again, this was back on the PSX so I dont know how the PC steam release works.

Last time I tried to fight any Weapon outside Ultimate Weapon I got my shit pushed in. Ruby was the first and it just gave me the ole ass kicking in 2 turns. I died in one turn against Emerald.

Anyway, I don't do any chocobo breeding until hitting the Northern Cavern (unlike in FF IX,where it will behoove you to do all chocobo hot and cold before heading to Terra) so i still have some time.

And then my party would get killed with Aire Tam stomp. I never knew the attacks damaged is based off of how much materia is equipped on the party. Also has anyone ever gotten the lucky 7s?

HOLY SHIT sans on undertale is HARD, and I mean obscenely fuck you hard. I have beaten all dark souls games (including many DLC bosses), cuphead, super meat boy, and a bunch of really hard snes games, and I've never experienced any boss this bullshit hard. I've been trying to beat him the whole evening and I still can't beat this smug piece of shit skellington.
Of course there are a bunch of douchebags on the internet saying "it's so easy, bruh, I beat him 20 times". I can guarantee that NONE of the people who say that sans is easy actually even played the game, this shit makes me punch monitors so bad. If you think this isn't that hard, just look at gameplay of it on youtube or something and tell me that shit ain't ridiculous. Just fuck you if you're one of those people, fuck you, honestly. I was really, really impressed with the game tbh. The genocide route revealed a lot about the game's phylosophy and ambition that you wouldn't get from just playing the other routes. Fucking Toby Fox, talented piece of shit did all this by himself, fucking piece of shit, I'm never gonna make anything close to this in my life.
They say that Nier: Automata is also a hugely ambitious game like that, is it? Should I play it next? I haven't played it, but if it's half as good as people say it is then I guess I should, but how hard is it? I don't know if I can take the stress of playing another hard game when I have so much shit to do with college and shit.

maybe it's because I had just finished Sekiro, but NieR: Automata is a relatively easy game. Just do yourself a favor and install the Auto-Item chip as soon as you can. in NieR, you have to press 2 buttons to use a healing item, so a chip that automatically uses any healing items you have as soon as your health gets dangerously low is invaluable.
I just finished the A path and I'm not yet seeing what's so special, buuuut literally everyone says you have to see multiple endings to "get" NieR so I guess I'll just keep going.

Nier is pretty easy, especially if you do the sidequests as they become available. Theres also the slowdown when near projectile chips and a bunch of other good support ones. To me the story was meh, but combined with the soundtrack and atmosphere and shit, it was a really comfy game. One day I just listened to the in game jukebox and dabbed/smoked the fuck out, great time.

maybe. placing blocks with anything but a mouse is frustrating, usually. being able to wall off mobs to escape and heal up would thus be harder to do. also bridging gaps and building your hub area. if you played terraria or similar on pc using mouse control and later tried a console port the frustration gets obvious. everything else would work fine though.

also it should run even on a potato.

suggestion for enemy designs in 2D platformers: if your enemies track the player from below after spotting them once, do not also include mobs that can dig through tiles while doing this. furthermore, do not then include enemies (in the same group) that spawn unlimited more enemies that don't despawn over time and persist even after the summoner is killed.

instead of a series of rooms with enemies, pic related happens. generally the player cannot deal with a couple dozen things piled up in a corner spawning more things every time the player comes into view.

I remember it flopping at launch and didn't pick it up until towards the end of last year after they had added just about everything they had originally promised. On the positive side I'd say it's attention-grabbing, well optimized, and beautiful. While the flight controls are very sluggish, and you don't have much control over your throttle other than the differing extremes of various onboard thrusters, the transition from deep space to orbit and surface is pretty fuckin' sick. There's a broad variety of things to do in the game, but nothing really has enough depth to be rigorously engaging.

Like the guy below you said, the combat is outright disappointing. Like the guy above you said all the planets have the same general functionality and all represent an interchangeable experience. The game gets repetitive for me, but it can still be fun in it's own way just flying around, trying to survive on different planets.

I started playing Owlboy
The dialogue and characters are well written and very charming, the pixelart is beautiful and the music is some of the best i've ever heard in a game
But there is something about the movement that feels really off. You'd think after 10 years in development they would have perfected it but doesn't feel great to move your character around. Especially in these little platforming sections that the game has, one specifically I encountered so far where you're no supposed to use your wings. The slightest touch in the up direction while you're jumping causes you to start flying, but it wasn't game breaking and I was easily able to get through that section even with the wings coming out.
Besides that i'm really enjoying it so far, the dungeons and puzzles are pretty fun.

I think it'll be nice to find a variety of places to sit and chill at in VR.
I dunno about well-optimized, on PS4 Pro my framerate gets chugging pretty bad at times, especially on my freighter because it's loading high definition models for hundreds of base/farm-related items at all times while I'm there.
I hope it works well in VR without losing too much detail. On PC you can just throw money at your PC and your graphics get better, but on console you're sorta stuck with a flat rate.

I want to like EGG but oh man this backtracking is getting old fast on top of spending half my time backtracking to the same dungeon that only has one music track that's barely a song

There's a lot of pathways that you need upgrades to progress through but you can wander into those paths for a long while until you hit the part you can't move through and be forced to backtrack looking for the last fork you missed

When you die you respawn with 35% health so bosses are a lot more difficult / time consuming than need be, especially when a lot are gimmicky and may kill you a few times before you even figure out what to do when there's no visible enemy health beyond their behavior changing

Buh. Maybe I'll just watch a longplay instead and save myself the hours and play more CRAZY TAXI instead.

E.G.G.
This game feels a lot harder than it needs to be for a couple really dumb reasons.
  1. Dying puts you at the entrance of the room at 35% health
  2. Health is only obtained from enemy drops / a very small number of fixed points after getting the Vacuum / shops

Now anywhere that isn't a boss room, this works pretty okay. You aren't put back that far and you have enough health to tank at least one hit in most cases. Now, against a boss, this usually isn't enough health. The healing points are often a good long distance away from any bosses, so you have to rely on enemy drops to heal after a failure, or reload a save which may be quite a distance from the boss. So you punch the two enemies in the room next to the boss, get no health drops, exit, reenter, kill the two enemies, get 5 health, exit, reenter, kill the two enemies, get no health, exit, reenter, kill the t-whoops he hit you for 20 damage that time, get -20 health, exit, reenter...

But I mean... other than that it's pretty solid. I don't think I would recommend it though. It's interesting but frustrating. Like Dark Souls but with more mindless grinding for health.

Checking out the urban DLC for Mechanical Warriors: Battle Technology. I didn't get the last expansion but it sounds like a similar deal, pretty overpriced for the amount of stuff. Still, cities are a really cool change of pace from the usual maps

Also Jesus Christ these Attack-and-Defend missions are fucked up, I haven't had many problems taking on missions above my weight class so far, but tried a few of these that were below my level and had to nope out each time. "Oh yeah, make them babysit some buildings while wading across half the map through five waves of equally heavy mechs, that's reasonable and fun."

Why the fuck are people excited for any MMO? Frankly it often just breaks immersion so completely I fucking hate having people in a group. They always get on the mic with really bad audio or start screaming like the spastic useless attention whoring faggots on YT which at this point I'm thinking how to get the money together to just create an alternative to that shitty Alphabetagency owned piece of corporate data farming opinion manipulating trash. God I fucking hate most streamers especially the popular ones. Except Mandalore and RadBrad.

But anyway yeah the one I actually did try was SWL. I want to try TOR but I'm not sure I can handle watching my beloved series get violated in the way Disney probably has done to it. I checked and realized they are all somewhat cartoonish looking character models that vaguely recalls whatever that shitty godawful kids cartoon series they made that Disney seems hellbent on focusing everyone's attention on, and that is not a good sign. Combined with everything else wrong with trying to play anything like an RPG in MMO I doubt it's going to be anything but shit.

As for Wow yeah my post had nothing to do with that. Because I never played it. Because some things in life just have warning signs all over them, and not the good fun kinds. Like WoW. Or My Little Pony. Or /pol/. Or anime. Those things where you just look at them and say "this is evil stuff and I don't want to ever end up like these people."

It's tough to find that balance of good gameplay, and good community. It's like making friends anywhere else, you've got to be social and make a connection. Sure you'll encounter some people you think are weird or annoying, or even straight up jerks. Build your friend group naturally over time and youll eventually have a lot of fun.

I've been playing Mabinogi a lot lately, which is very social focused. Met a few really cool people and we play every day now, sometimes just hanging out and talking. I think that's a beautiful thing with MMOs.

party hard... 2. i need to play the first one at some point, word is that it's more tuned up than this one. it's fun though aside from one or two max rage levels and some jank. failed this stage at least two dozen times.

you're expected to spill water all over one room and outside it, call the stripper via the poster there, then break a vending machine after most of the guards come in to watch the stripper. the level remains hateful but becomes possible to clear after doing this.

Woops sorry my phone lagged out and I pressed the post button on accident. I was saying that I'm playing a whole bunch of games at the moment but the main one that I'm spending most of my time on is Silent Storm. I really enjoy that game. I love the strategy of it and the character animations and their dialogue is great. It's so satisfying to pull off a well played assault. I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys xcom or that other game that the name of escapes me now but you play as mercenaries who you hire and carry out missions in South America.

I'm also enjoying Battlefield Vietnam with a weapoms mod that once again I forgot the name. This bloody depression has messed up my memory. Thank goodmess that I managed to fix my desktop comouter so I can play games and take my mind off my pathetic life

Cadence of Hyrule.

This game seems to be tailor made for me because I liked the concept of Crypt of the Necrodancer, but found the rougelike aspects of it too hard to progress very far. This one seems to fix that by introducing more Zelda mechanics and rougelite progression to balance it out. Having fun with it.

MGSV (especially with no HUD and some realism mods) is stealth-action gameplay at its finest. Yet there's still so many ways the game could be improved upon. Strictly from the perspective of gameplay mechanics and how they tie together, control scheme, etc...nothing comes close. I see stupid amounts of potential here as a stand alone Mercenary Rambo Simulator.

Replaying NWN 2 and the UI is atrocious but it's enjoyable enough.

Lizardfolk are burning down the farms but Shandra Jerro's hasn't been hit yet. She's the last one. I remember at the end of this dialogue she turns around and sees her house on fire and is like "fuck, good thing I'm a level 7 fighter" and joins you.

However know that this is seconds away I spotted this guy during a few frames while she's talking.

Katana Zero is very fun. All the enemies are one hit kill but so are you. You can deflect bullets and slow down time. Basically what you do is try to plan your route through the curent screen. And just as I was thinking the game could use a bit more variety it throws a fun boss and pretty sweet motorcycle level at me.
The soundtrack is great and the story is surprisingly engaging for a little game like this
Good stuff, would recommend.

Evolution : The World of Sacred Device (Dreamcast)
It's a pretty generic dungeon crawler. It's not bad, but nothing really makes it stand out today. The main character's combat animations are sick though, he's got a big ol' exoskeleton arm that he punches stuff with and it's always satisfying to see.
The padding is kind of obvious but I mean, it's a randomized dungeon crawler so just throwing a few more levels onto the next area is all they can do.

One thing about the DC. The analog stick on the DC controller has full 360 detection and motion, but it will gently lock into the 8 main directions when you tilt it that way, whereas the Xbox 360 / Playstation controller is just full 360 motion, so trying to go straight left/right/etc. is much more difficult. The Switch Joycons sort of do what the DC controller did, but it's very subtle.

Buh. Getting walled on one of the final bosses. They take away your healer for it which makes it waaaaaay harder than it probably should be. The boss will regularly (sometimes twice a turn) use an attack that deals 1000+ damage to your entire party, and one of the best healing items you can have restores 1000 health to the party. The rest restore less, and my only off healing skill is on my main DPS, and it barely negates the damage from that attack. You can see how this doesn't work.

There's also almost no MP restoring items available. I have exactly one that's a party full heal, and the only others I've ever found restore 30 MP, and my good moves cost 60-100 MP.

If I didn't have fast-forward on this emulator to speed up combat I'd have given up long ago. Right now since the final dungeon is a one way entry I'm forced to grind in this one respawning battle over and over and over and over and over to get strong enough to maybe beat this boss.

If I can't beat it in the next couple tries I'm just gonna hit youtube for the ending like I did with EGG. I don't have time to grind like this, there are thousands of other games I could be playing instead of mindlessly raising some numbers to an arbitrary threshold to progress the story.

I remember beating the gcn version as a kid, and it wasn't too hard. But the gcn version is probably easier.

I read a guide and the trick was to repeatedly use the All Stats Down move one of the characters I never used can unlock since that works on the boss, it basically halved his power which was far more manageable.

There's a bit of an epilogue (that gives you a new debt to work off) but I'm probably not going too deep into that. I'll just start on 2 after a bit.

I forgot it was ported to GC, I'm reading that Worlds was 1 and 2 together, and 1 was heavily reduced while 2 stayed full size.
>Also, due to limited disc space, the first part (re-release of Evolution) is highly trimmed down, eliminating almost all of its dungeon crawling and condensing the game's entire plot into fewer, but much longer, cutscenes.

After years of occasionally starting the tutorial only to get annoyed by the save system, hacking minigame, etc, and uninstall it, I'm finally digging into Alpha Protocol. It's alright. Doesn't actually play very well, but it has plenty of that old Obsidian charm, and I think I might actually give it another playthrough to see how much stuff actually changes with the dialogue choices.

Its hilarious how people still blame Bethesda for how buggy New Vegas is when Obsidian has a long history of releasing interesting but broken af games.

I mean, the Gamebryo engine is still a piece of shit and just adding more and more on top of it like with New Vegas is gonna cause instability, especially when Obsidian had less than a year to properly work on it. Chris Avellone said in an interview that he wanted to use some of the time working on the DLC to go back and help fix up the base game, and would've used some of his own money to help fund that effort, but they shot him down. Obsidian does have an issue with not testing their games thoroughly, but New Vegas was a whole different mess.

New Vegas is less buggy than FO3, and every bug I've ever encountered in NV that wasn't from a mod, was because of the shitty old engine.

>Obsidian does have an issue with not testing their games thoroughly
Obsidian has an issue with taking publisher contracts with not enough time to finish things properly.

Playing Rad, closed beta.

Loving the hell out of it, though I am a fan of the genre Double Fine makes some fucking sick games and I am digging the 80's style.
