Has anyone else completely given up on The Elder Scrolls, or by extension Bethesda? If you keep up to date on video game news you'll know that Bethesda will not be showcasing Starfield or The Elder Scrolls at E3. Historically speaking they announce a game, then next years E3 they show a bit of gameplay and it usually is released the following October/November. If all rumours are true they are still a few years out from Starfield and are just in early production of the next Elder Scrolls. So by that logic we won't see the next Elder Scrolls until at LEAST 2022, leaving more than a decade between mainline releases.
>but it takes time to develop a game
Yeah, and it doesn't take 11 years. Previously they had consistent releases about every 5, even while juggling the release of Fallout 3 they still managed to keep to their schedule and release Skyrim in 2011, 3 years after Fallout 3 and 5 after Oblivion.
>why does this matter though
My best guesses is that these douche canoes got greedy and started shovelling cash in after Skyrim. After realizing how much of a cash cow it was, instead of working on a sequel like any normal company would they decided to skip an entire generation for a mainline game and just re release Skyrim not once, but twice.
I remember picking up Morrowind when I was 12, getting excited for Oblivion and then Skyrim when I was 17. Was first in line for the midnight launch and everything. Pains me to say it but I've pretty much given up on the whole franchise and the company, no point in getting excited over the game that never comes.
I saw some ads for some Mad Max/Borderlands ripoff which leads me to believe that is going to be the main feature of their E3 presentation.

Actually the Photorealistic graphics of ElderScrolls6 got me pretty hopeful. Fallout76 reminded them that they need to put out quality products and I’m hoping they learned their lesson.

>Played Skyrim when I was 17

I feel so old all of a sudden.

I don't really like photorealism in my video games, I'd prefer an interesting art style but by the time ES6 comes out all the the consumer public will be to stoked for skyrim2 to remember FV76 and will buy the 300 dollar collectors editions like fucking water barrels in a drought and bethy knows this

I gave up on bethesda finally after new vegas.

I blame Todd directly. I don't think he's a bad person at all tho.
He's basically the George Lucas of his company.
According to Wikipedia he started as an asset maker at Bethesda in the 90's.
He slowly worked his way up in a relativity small company of nerds.
He was slowly given more and more creative control.
His first things were well received by fans.
But as the company grew in popularity and fans it had to cater more and more to lowest common denominator of players and slowly make each successive game more and more casual but more and more EPIC AND PRETTY!

>it had to cater more and more to lowest common denominator
No they didn't. After Morrowind, ES IV was going to be a big seller even if they made it a more hardcore RPG than Morrowind ever was. They didn't have to dumb shit down or streamline or simplify mechanics or any of that other horseshit.

I would've agreed with you before Fallout76 but i dont think its that simple anymore. Fallout76 bombed hard. Elder Scrolls does have a loyal fanbase, but so did Fallout to some extent and that didn't work out so well for them. I don't think we're going to see another Fallout for a good while. ES6 is going to be mainly developed for the console and that will reflect on the gameplay but i dont think we are going to be dealing with a lot of the BS that Bethesda has been trying to push on us.

Part of me thinks Todd is just the scapegoat, the guy that loves the franchise as much as we do or used to and gets sent out there to die because of someone above him's retarded decisions

But maybe that's too optimistic

It really is a fucking tragedy how far they've gone and how far they've subsequently strayed from greatness in my eyes. My dick gets so hard at the hundreds of hours of Morrowind and Oblivion from many years ago, and then subsequently inverts thinking at how fucking awful Skyrim and everything else has been since. I really need them to to go back to TRUE rpg roots with classes, deep mechanics, and most importantly choice.

:(

I stopped buying Bethesda games after Skyrim. I learned my lesson with Skyrim, that Bethesda was going to shit. The game had so much potential, but the writing and lack of choice/impact killed it for me after 20-30 hours. Fallout 4 was even worse, and 76 is unbelievable.

Given up? Meh kinda. Skyrim is a good experience it's just not a good game. If you pay attention the lore they did in skyrim is actually decent, and some of the level design was pretty cool. Mostly in the DLC. Same in Oblivion, DLC was better than base game.

What gave me hope was recently finishing Enderal. Enderal is probably the best scrolls game I've ever played, better than Morrowind even. It's well voice acted, has a much more varied world design than any other game, lore that stands up to the crazy meta vivec shit, and completely overhauled gameplay that actually meshes with the lore.

For those that haven't played, some of the locales include:
Icey mountain covered in crystals
spoopy forest full of giant glowing mushrooms and dead trees
a desert, complete with tropical themed oasis bits
A FUCKING FLOATING ANCIENT SKY CITY
A mutated wasteland that was horribly irradiated and transformed when a nuclear/magic reactor exploded
Not really an area but a whole main quest revolves around this quiet somber mansion thats perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the sea. It's called the Aged Man's Manor I think

I highly recommend Enderal. It has a full steam release now.

even if TESVI does come I do not have any faith it would even be a good game with mods this time around. If it even gets mods now that 76 has finally shoved paid mods up our ass holes, well not mine I didn't buy that shit stain of a game. I fully expect an even further dumbing down from rimjob/gayout4 using the same crippled engine running a "games as service" style store front. Rodd Foward is a faggot.

I never realized AJ has such horrible fucking taste in sidearms or I guess guns in general. I always figured him more for like a man's gun like some sort of rifle, possibly bolt action. That, thing, he's pointing at is for middle age ladies and emasculated office workers who've fired it exactly twice in their lives, once immediately after buying it, and once when they went to the range during a divorce.

I'm not upset about them taking their time to work on their next game. I have confidence that they've learned from their Fallout 76 mistakes by now and won't be rushing Starfield out the door. Besides, they did mention like back in 2016 that they had two full game releases between then and ES6 (one being FO76 and the other being Starfield), and Pete Hines went out and told everybody that it's going to be a long while. I wouldn't have any expectations to see anything about ES6 until at least 2021, with maybe a release in 2022 or 2023.

>>735114
Yeah I get that vibe from watching him sometimes too. I bet it's tough balancing the company's need to make money with the team and players' need for good videogames.

How to "Fix" Tes games IMO.

>Non linear environments and dungeons

Most places post Morrowind were simple paths with no deviations of any kind. In Skyrim if you're strong enough you could almost close your eyes and mash attack while holding forward and clear most dungeons.

>Drastically reduce loot drops

This fixes not only the economy but makes every bauble with a vaugley magical spark or a bit of real lore behind it more valuable to the player.

>Improve npc animations

Something about bethsda npc in particular just ticks some horrible uncanny valley box I can't quite put my finger on.

>Actually put quests in attached to deep lore from the in game books in the world.

If I remember correctly one of the cures for vampire in morrowind was hidden in obscure book I tracked down and then led me to a dead vampire skull in a battle old battle field.

>Make the character feel less "THE CHOSEN ONE" right out of the gate.

I get that CHIM and all the lore is tied to the player being a semi devine part of the world but the feeling of being "THE CHOSEN ONE" comes with having to be shit first and having every one scream racist insults at you and constantly mistrust you at best and try to kill you to recharge the soul gem for the vape at worst.

follow up no bump on something i forgot.

>Make the world larger.

In the lore the world is actually closer to the size of our world (not counting weird places that are partially in other planes of existence and shit).
But for brevity what you see in the game is an abbreviated version of the world other wise it would take too long to make.

But with all of bethesda's big boy monies IDK why they don't just try to make the best single player experience they can?

I am sure Todd uses the internet and knows what fans really want.

Morrowind and Skyrim has that feeling of emptiness in between dungeons and quests especially if you’re playing a no fast travel play through. A larger world will only make that experience worse. I think they did good with Fallout 4. A more compact map but with a more vertical experience is a lot better.

But I don’t think I would mind it in Hammerfell. A horse ride across the empty desert sounds pretty fun.

Talking about empty space...

...it'll be interesting to see what Bethesda does, now that Nintendo made just one game in the open-world-action-RPG genre and fucking blew all the competition out of the water.

Breath of the Wild supposedly (don't have a Switch) made excellent use of huge empty areas to both ground the world in realism and pace combat.

It's wiiu emulation not switch, and 360 emulation is actually getting there, it's about on par with ps3 nowadays. The thing with the original fatbox is that it barely has any games that didn't get windows ports so there's no demand, on top of the system being complicated as shit.

People will throw themselves at any nintendo console just to play Zelda, and the wiiu is basically just a wii which is basically just a gamecube.

yeah OG xbox or xbrick. I've had the itch to play obiwan again for some time now and the only "functional" emulator can't read the .xbr or what ever the extention is on what should just be an .iso in any other disc game emulation case
I still have a 360 but I should get rid of it as the only game I have been keeping it around for will be hitting steam "soon" reach

But I also liked tenchu Z so if I can emulate it then I don't need this waste of space any more.

I didn't know BotW was on wiiu or there was emulation. I'll have to check that out.

Only the good or unique xbrick games didn't get ports. And the ones that did are absolute trash. Gunmetals control scheme is garbage and there is no controller support. Steel battalion was dropped like a retarded child on launch and finally obiwans port was cancelled. would have been interesting to see how that awkward control scheme would translate.

Then again I hardly remember ever taking Halo CE out of the tray so yeah all the good games did get a port lol.

Yeah and I'm always surprised at that given how similar the hardware for that is compared to a normal PC. I mean it's literally a Pentium 3 processor with SSE instructions stapled onto it, and it runs a DirectX 8.1 NVidia GPU.

I guess that it's just the low demand that's keeping advancements in emulation for the XBox Original down for now.

I mean hypothetically I could pull up a chair right next to the TV or download that PS3 controller thing and map the controls and all that shit but it seems like way too much effort.
I have my Xbox hooked up to a 60 inch tv with a comfy recliner next to it and it'll take like 2 seconds to download.

It’s not perfect. I still feel there are some mods you can install to improve the experience.I added about more mods while still respecting the plugin limit and it worked out fine.

As far as the difficulty, I don’t think it’s too hard. You start off as a peon for sure, killing rats for food and drinking bad water but you’ll get the hang of it soon enough. If you’re familiar with the Morrowind experience you feel right at home. Your Stamina is effected by any kind of movement and the equipment you have on, so the experience between a mage, huntsmen, and warrior differ drastically. You can set up how many days has to pass before the first dragon appears which is nice.

I’m playing an Assassin. I spent about six hours yesterday just working on my Alchmey and get it up enough to be able to create my own healing potions. I make enough now to be able to afford training so I’m just traveling from one town to another, sticking close to the town so I can just Kite enemies to guards. Once I’m good enough to be able to use my knife, I’ll try to join the thieves guild to work on my Sneaking without exposing myself to danger cause almost everything one shots me still. I think at one point I’m going to be Overpowered but it won’t be soon.

I think it’s definitely worth it. A lot of thought was put into this and I recommend it.

Apparently I was lacking a utilities folder in my main Skyrim folder from the beginning is the problem I think maybe. How come the instructions never told me to make one? Even if I make one now, it'll be empty because nothing would of been auto-placed there during the long install process. At least I think thats the problem.

Is there a detailed uninstall process video for Ultimate Skyrim so I can try again without bugging it further?

No it’s a mistake they made in their explanation. What you’re looking for is FNIS and it’s not in the Utility folder because it doesn’t exist. Just go to your mod folder in the Ultimate Skyrim folder and look for FNIS. The software, GenerateFNISforusers.exe should be there.

I mean, I think that’s the problem because it was for me. He mentions the folder explaining how to deal with FNIS. The Requiem Patcher has nothing to do with the utilities folder.
I’ll try my best to help you but I’m no where near my PC so expect me to fumble a bit.

My Ultimate Skyrims Folder>mods folder doesn't have a file named FNIS. It does have a file named "FNIS PCEA2 Player Elusive Player Animation (dynamic)". But that doesn't have an exe file in it.

Fuck I wish I had my PC.
search for GenerateFNISforUsers in both the Ultimate Skyrim folder and your root folder and I’m sure you’re bound to find it because its on the list of mods you downloaded through automaton. Did you Automatically download all the mods or did you do them manually?

It installed 299 automatically and I had to install the last one myself because it glitched I think.

I already did the FNIS step now that I seen the menu again, something about a Skeleton Arm fix. My problem is with the Reqtificator.

I like to use NMM for mod instillation.

The only thing you should have to worry about is the load order.

Ultimate Skyrim is not a typical easily installed mod, there is an installation guide(with errors in it) but you're bound to run into numerous other errors because its pretty long and complicated.

Its 300 mods plus compatibility patches plus its own stuff etc.

>>735509

Haven't run the game yet, because all the Requiem mods say "No valid game data" when you over hover over them. I'm trying to research if thats an issue and if so how to correct it.

And I don't know how to install any mod on Ultimate Skyrim I mean, like I don't know where to store the data files I download. Do I just put a folder in the mods folder with the data within that folder?

I’m not really familiar with Requiem but users are aware of the errors and there is an extensive FAQ page on the Ultimate Skyrim circlejerk page that should help you. I’ll try to help you from here as best as I can but I’m flying to Tokyo tomorrow and I won’t be around for much.

You don’t need to copy anything. Just open your mod organizer in the Ultimate Skyrim Folder and you can simply add it from there. It’s a very useful tool and if there is any error it will point it out for you.

Man, I feel you. I set up Fallout New Vegas the other day on my computer and a friend's, and it took 3 hours.

I mean, you need like, 4 external programs just to clean and sort your mods, and make a bashed patch and merged patch. Then you need all the utility mods like unofficial patches and script extenders.

It was worth all the trouble, but yeah it's a cunt. I wish I could run a business where I just installed FNV.

I still have a little hope for Elder Scrolls and Bethesda by extension. But it's their last chance, period. I loved Fallout 3 and NV, they basically defined my teenage gaming years along with Battlefield 3 (and 4 but meh mostly 3). Fallout 4 was shit overall with select improvements (power armor, chems, non-VATS gunplay) and 76 I didn't even want to try (no dialogue system? fuck that MUH RPG)

I just have a tiny hope that Bethesda knows they fucked up with Fallout 4 and were just too dumb to realize that 76 would be viewed as the next installment in the proper series instead of a weird offshoot like ESO

The community is very sensitive to anyone trying to capitalize on anything modding related. It took years for Nexus to finally get everyone to accept the premium membership, if anyone tries to make money off other people’s work people will quickly jump on it. Modders who joined the Creation Club were heavily criticized for their actions and most had to delete their work of nexus website because of it. People want mods to always remain fan projects and for free and I agree with them.

You can save a lot of hours installing 300 mods at once instead and later configuring said mods if you pay for a Nexus Premium account for Ultimate Skyrim.

Still a long tedious installation process, as there are a ton of steps you still can't bypass. If they basically make you pay for a Nexus Premium Account, I don't get why they don't make it so you can't pay to install the whole thing.

This thread is really boring and overly negative (TES VI is probably gonna be alright and TES games were never good) so I'm gonna use it to ramble.

I remember I made a thread last year or the year before about how much I hate the word "gamer" because it's fucking retarded and narcissistic and childish. Everybody got mad at my thread because everyone here but me is stupid (I HAVE A BRIAN). But now it's common knowledge that calling yourself a gamer is fucking retarded and you get your lunch money stolen if you call yourself a gamer in here. It's almost like I'm always ahead of the curve.

Also, I'm posting this image ironically (except for the furry part)

People say "Skyrim makes no sense, for every normal person theirs like 100 bandits. its unrealistic." and see it as a flaw. I think it works well for the story. Nords are the most barbaric of all the races in TES Lore. And unlike earth religions, you don't need to be a pure soul to get into the afterlife. All Nords need to do to get into Sovngarde is to is live for battle and have no fear of death. Nords care about religious traditions more than the law.

I'm saying it makes sense that it often seems like there's more bandits than regular people in Skyrim. I always pictured it as 1/4th Stormcloack supporters, 1/4th Empire supporters, and 1/2 bandits.
