Still playing Rad, this game has an awesome stylized feel to it that seems to be congruent throughout.

luna nights. the regular attack is a knife, the special attacks are knives, the crouch-slide ability is a knife. today i learned that even the double-jump is a knife.

also fuck the blue flame enemies that you can only hit by stopping time. the movement pattern is hateful, half the time they're inside floors or walls, fuck em.

I actually finished Katana Zero like 2 days ago and thought it was great but also I could only play it in small doses every day. Might be different for you, but i'd still recommend it either way.
Fun, satisfying combat, an interesting story and its stylish as hell.
Its a bit short but I picked up for a little over ten bucks during an eshop sale so I was more than happy with the purchase

I certainly liked it more than Shovel Knight (and I really liked Shovel Knight too). That may just be because I prefer the exploration of Metroidvanias more than stage based progression though, even though The Messenger starts like that. Better OST imo too, even though they're both really great.

I've been playing Disgaea for 15 hours and am at level 23, dealing puny damages. The level Absolute Zero, where the enemies are a bunch of flying rats constantly poisoning me, is impossible to beat right now. I've seen videos of characters dealing literal millions hit points, how the fuck am I supposed to get that good? This is also my first turn based RPG and I'm enjoying it, but I don't have that much time to grind like mad.

Going back to Soviet Republic to check out the new personal vehicle mechanics in the test branch. Feels good to see my little proles driving around in their hard-earned Trabants that they built entirely out of stuff they dug out of the ground, for some reason, which is not something I get out of a lot of city builders. Sadly neither of my export partners seem very impressed.

A lot of the power seal rooms I just ended up brute forcing by using jump recovery during invulnerability. It's a game that when is top-notch when it gives you a proper level and room to run and slash through, but the level design always has to have 2-3 screens on every level that are just gimmicky pain in the ass bullshit that kills the pacing of the game. I've been having a love-hate relationship with it so far.

I think I saved myself a good 30 hours of mindless grind since the story was the main draw anyway. The environments sure were pretty, they were just broken up by random battles every 10 seconds.

Back to Bangai-O. I have a heap of PS4 games to play too but I don't have a good VR environment right now and setting it up every time is a hassle (plus I'm starting to feel motion sickness on some games)

If you like this kind of game or if you've enjoyed Origins or The Witcher, absolutely. I really liked the first two Assassin's Creed games and couldn't give two poops about any of the ones after that until Origins nor do I particularly love open world games, but I loved Origins and this is pretty much more of the same in a different setting.

Obra Dinn is also worth checking out if anything you've read or seen looks at all interesting.

So I finished The Messenger and it was definitely one of the best games i've played in recent memory. Apart from a few bullshitty power seal rooms the level design was great, gameplay was fun, and the music was spectacular and probably my favorite part of the whole game honestly. I can't get that autumn hills track out of my head.
But i've got to say that even though some of the areas were challenging all the bosses were pretty damn easy. Even the final boss took me only 2 tries, but even though they were easy they were still really fun and I wish the metroidvania half of the game had more bosses. My favorite, design wise, was definitely the blue robes
I got a good 18 hours out of it and that was with collecting all the power seals and getting all the upgrades and items, i'd say that is more than worth the 15 I payed for it.
Great fucking game.

I can understand insisting on adding a time mechanic to the Atelier Series. Atelier Sophie didn't have one and the game was boring, Something felt seriously missing in that game. I read the guide before i jumped into it and i knew they give you more time than you'll ever need to prepare for the exam but it still manages to stress me out. Picked up Kiwami in the sale so I figured I should go back and actually finish 0. It's pretty amazing, although I just hit chapter 14 and can't help feel like it's starting to drag on a bit. That whole underwater fight club section for example seemed like pure padding that didn't mesh with the tone or add to the story at all. Maybe if I was more into the combat system it wouldn't be an issue, but at this point I'm just sorta repeating the same combos over and over again to get through it. Still, what a great game.

Buy it on the PC, It looks and plays better. You get a lot of content for the price you pay so you don't really have to wait for a sale. It's a pretty easy dungeon crawler with an interesting mechanic. You use ingredients you pick up in the dungeon to cook curry for yourself and your partner Kuu. Kuu gets really op if you keep feeding him delicious food so its pretty fun trying to make the best curry and watch him wreck shit.

Playing Heretic on Black Plague Possesses Thee difficulty. I always thought this game was kind of boring and easy, so I usually lost interest before even getting to the end of the first episode, and I've never seen the whole thing. Playing it on the hardest skill with 300% faster monsters is just the shot in the arm it needed, this game fucking kicks ass.

I still thought it was a bit too easy until I got to the end boss of Episode 2, THREE FUCKING MAULOTAURS AT ONCE. Holy shit that level kicked my ass for a while until I realized their deadliest attacks are completely useless if you hover a few feet up with the Wings of Wrath. The Cyberdemon ain't fucking shit compared to these guys, and I hear Episode 4 has one in the first fucking level. I'm excited to play through the rest of this. Finally getting around to playing Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire. Just completed the quests on Tikawara. For some reason I don't remember Aloth and Pallegina being so cunty in the first one, but their insufferability has definitely increased in the five year interim between games. But to make an important distinction, they aren't annoying because of bad writing or characterization, I think they're well-written fucking twats. That said, I'm enjoying the atmosphere of the second one and they fleshed out the experience of the first one in pretty much every area.

I hope the Obsidian curse skips this title somehow since they did their own follow-up and released it on their own time. The effect wherein every part of the original is improved upon, yet somehow it feels incomplete at the end.

I think they lost some of the meandering charm of the original but incomplete? Nah. I playes the game through a couple of times. I ran once through with a team of smartarses which was fun, Eder, Xoti, Serafen and Tekehu can cover most main PCs pretty well and all get on.

Aloth and Pallegina can be dicks. Depends what you thought of the gods at the end of the first game how much of a dick they really are. They had a rod up their arse for sure but I blame the gods for putting it there. Especially when you learn why there are godlike.

Should I get AC Black Flag, Origins or Odyssey?
Always heard good things about Black Flag, it seems to be a lot of people's favorite
Same thing with Origins, plus playing in Egypt sounds really fun and I heard they made a lot of changes that almost make it feel like The Witcher 3 which I loved
And Odyssey is just the newest one which I haven't personally heard much about but I have always loved Greek and Roman related stuff
PlayStation is having a sale so I can get them for cheap and have been looking to get back into the series since I haven't played one since 3

I'm leaning towards Origins

Get Origin and Odyssey. Origin is a good game and im sure you'll like the Egyptian theme. Odyssey is more or less the same game except with more cosmetic items, leveling options, fun gameplay, and wackier side quests. Don't expect a good gripping stories though. Origin is more serious than Odyssey but it tried too hard. With Odyssey they just wanted to have fun with the story and the side quest and it made the game a lot more fun to play through.

Black Flag is the best AC game I've played. The piracy was so much fun I stopped playing the game just to have a pirate fleet and sink a ton of ships. Made it to 9th on the most sunk ships of all time when the game released.

Origin was fun but annoying. They added a level system that really doesn't fit with the game. They made combat less lock on, press x to win, but they also made it so that you can't even assassinate people if they're a few levels higher than you because they'll catch you. Because of this, a lot of the map is artificially locked off until you get better gear. It just doesn't feel like assassin's creed. Also you won't be using the hidden blade in combat anymore because it's useless. I found most weapons useless in melee, actually. Ironically the giant warhammers are the most effective weapon for the assassin because they can't be blocked and they hit multiple enemies. It was fun to play but I'm glad I never paid for it.

I recommend piracy for origins, and buying the pirate game.

I didn't mind either of them, though maybe that's because I thought Eder and Xoti were infinitely more annoying. Like you say, not that they were badly written but I have an irrational hate for the whole "aw shucks I'm just a simple wholesome country boy" shtick. Anyway, still haven't finished it but I heard they put out a bunch of big updates, so I've been thinking I should give it another shot at some point. Anyone try the DLC yet?

Finally fucking beat Heretic, or at least the original 3 episodes.

D'Sparil on Black Plague mode is straight up the hardest fucking boss fight I've ever played in a game. Took me like 15 fucking tries, and when I finally did beat him it was only because the sheer volume of projectiles from his spawned minions killed him via friendly fire. Holy shit.

I estimate the number of projectiles they shot every SECOND to be 60, with 3 projectiles coming from each Disciple, of which there could be 20, every single second, if not faster. So every 5 seconds there would be AT LEAST 300 fucking projectiles flying through that level. D'Sparil wasn't circle-strafing around the perimeter of the level like I was, just teleporting to a random pad and walking a few feet, so I guess he got hit by enough of them to run his health out. Fuck it, I'll take it. Jesus christ. Bullet hell does not even fucking begin to describe Heretic's final boss on the highest skill.

I played the first chapter of Detroit and I'm actually surprised. I gave up on heavy rain a few hours in because I was so fucking bored but they actually managed to make this one sort of fun and interesting. The mechanics actually fit really well with this sort of atmosphere and they made a lot of quality of life improvements like not having to hold down R2 to move your character, which was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a video game. You actually feel more in control with this one. But boy does it seem like David Cage sleeps with a book of cliches on his nightstand. Just write a shitty detective movie already David, we all know you want to do it and maybe after that's thrashed in reviews you'll stop writing for good.
I just hope it doesn't turn into boring shit again after that first Connor segment
And what's with these games and close ups of characters faces? The loading screens in heavy rain were just close ups and it was awkward and uncomfortable, now I got some android bitch staring at me on the main menu screen

More that I have a feeling of uncertainty playing this one left me.

I'll say, Peach Ball is very enjoyable as a game. It plays well, there is plenty of variety in game mechanics to keep me entertained, and it's a weird sort of fun. It's also very SK with adorable references to the main games and a complete dressing room mode.

Additionally, I like how this and Reflexology both include the player as the main character. Obviously that wouldn't work in the main games. It's cool to be playing and then Haruka turns to the screen and talks to you.

Now, what I mean about the direction is if it keeps going this way then maybe it's safe. Reusing the same old engine to make more small stories and mini games. The series is definitely no stranger to it, Bon Appetit probably got a strong fan response and encouraged it. Then you have the card game and mobile game.

With it's own creator leaving, what I would hope for is someone would revamp the series. I can imagine how cool it would be to play a game that only featured 10 new characters from the mobile game in the story, and focused on them thoroughly.

All in all, I mean to say I dont hate this. I even quite like this. However, I didnt ever hope for this. Peachball is 10/10 for what it is and I recommend it.

Still playing Moonlighter. I'm actually surprised with how much playtime and enjoyment i'm getting out of this game, I'm usually not a fan of roguelikes and while I really wouldn't call this one it definitely has some clear roguelike elements. Randomly generated dungeons, losing most of your inventory when you die, but I feel like they found a sweet spot where even people like me can enjoy those elements.

It's an alright game, but so many of the features are half baked. The shop management is super shallow and boring, the dungeon crawling isn't all that challenging or exciting, and there's basically only one correct weapon to use because they rest are essentially useless. I haven't played it since beating it on V1, so maybe some of the later updates fixed it, I just don't have any interest in returning to it. I was really hoping for a Reccetear killer, but it ended up paling in comparison to a much older game.

Play Recettear, if you wanna try something similar. It's annoyingly anime, in my opinion, but it's a solid solid game in the same style. I'd say Moonlighter is based on it, but I don't know that as a fact, they're just similar enough.

I agree with you on the combat, it needs some work. Only viable weapon is the big sword and a bow on the offhand for occasional use. I'm not sure what has changed since the version you played but I actually really enjoy the shop aspect of the game, I just wish there was an option to arrange your shop any way you please and also some way to fire the shop assistant because shes useless and i'm tired of looking at her stupid face every time I enter my goddamn shop
Another personal complaint was that its very vague at explaining core gameplay mechanics, most of what I know about how to play this game came from googling. They give you these picture summaries about how stuff works and that is not enough for things that are essential when playing
I got the banker in town and had no fucking clue what he even did or how he worked
I got the ability to take requests from customers where they say "can you bring me ___ by _____" so I assumed you just have to find them in town and bring them their items but ACTUALLY how it works is that you have to open your shop on that specific date and talk to them when they come to the counter, which is the complete opposite of what the game implies
It certainly needs some polish and I have a lot of little nitpicks like that but overall i'm having fun

Just finished Bloodstained. I haven't played any of the Metroidvania classics apart from new stuff like Hollow Knight, so no nostalgia, but it was alright. Didn't blow me away, but it's still pretty engaging. Just the right amount of grind, imo. I think I got around 98% of the map in 22-ish hours, might go back in a few months and crank up the difficulty, so maybe not the best value ever but I don't regret picking it up.

I know a few of you said to buy Odyssey but I'm having a lot of fun with Origins so far
The combat is much different than any other AC game I played, I like that there's a slight focus on stealth and that there's some light hunting/crafting/looting, the world is beautiful and I like the character you play as. There seems to be a lot to do in the game so I think I'm gonna be playing it for a while

AC games always felt like video game comfort food to me: I know what it is going in, it rarely surprises me, but it rarely disappoints me, either, jank and all. I recently played through Syndicate and felt that story-wise it was probably the weakest of any of the AC games, but it really gives you a whole lot of shit to do. I'm going through the Jack the Ripper DLC right now, and I don't really like it so far, but I want to finish it before I uninstall Syndicate for good and move onto Origins.

I reinstalled Origins after putting 32 hours into Odyssey and I gotta say Origins is much better. I don't understand why Odyssey runs so much worse than Origins, because it's only a marginal improvement in terms of graphics if any at all, but it runs like dog shit on my somewhat decent rig compared to Origins. It also somehow feels clunkier in a lot of ways and the setting/story just aren't as good. Bayek's a legit cool character whereas Alexios is just a mercenary dudebro.

Also I like the combat better and the world overall way prettier.

I mean I definitely like the game's representation of ancient Egypt more than their representation of ancient Greece, but that's far from the only reason. Alexios is pretty shit and I don't like how hamfisted the whole story and premise is compared to even Origins. Also the UI is somehow worse in Oddysey and some other minor things feel clunkier for some reason. Like even the dumb ass NPCs jump out of the way of your horse a quarter of a mile before you run into them which isn't as pronounced in Origins. It's almost as if they gave Origins enough love, care and time and rushed Oddysey out to make as much money in as little time as possible.

I also seriously don't understand how it runs that much worse!

Atelier Sophie is one of the chilliest and easy going games in the Atelier Series. You picked a good point to start. There is no Time management system so its a lot less intimidating to players. Some people think its pretty slow and boring and it kinda is compared to the other Atelier games, but i think it has its charming in its own way. Easy battles too but end game bosses are some of the hardest so dont hate yourself if you cant take them on.

The last hour I've just been adventuring around Siwa finishing up everything I can before bayek leaves and it's very relaxing, very comfy. Lots of sights to see lots of loot to collect
I find it really funny how when you take someone's boat that was already paddling it the prompt says "borrow" and they kind of just hang out on the boat while you go to your destination. It's crazy how big this map is, assuming you can visit all the places that are on it. I didn't look at it outside of siwa until a bit ago and it looks like there's a ton of areas. I'm really excited to see what's in each of them

Good stuff. So you started with the Atelier Sophie, which is the first of the mysterious sub-series. Atelier Sophie story continues in next games, Atelier Firis and Atelier Lydie & Suelle. You picked the right game to start with because it introduces a new crafting system that is more expanded on in the other games. If you wanted to buy other Atelier games, do the same and start with the first one of the sub-series. So like for the Arland sub-series you start with Atelier Rerona, then move on to Atelier Totori and Atelier Meruru. Each Atelier game has a relatively different crafting system, but the first game of the sub series usually introduce a new crafting system and then expands on it in the other games of the sub-series.

Atelier Sophie crafting is well balanced until end game. Just remember to focus on understanding what each Trait does to maximize the damage your bombs and equipment. Levels and quality don't really mean much, its all in the traits.

I 100%'d all of the achievements for Void Bastards last week. I regretted it because some of the achievements (mostly the "no deaths" on superhard mode one) are stupid hard and require a very large amount of luck (and frustrating moments when your 6-hour run gets screwed by the RNG but there's nothing you can do about it besides restarting).

Played a little of the final fest in Splatoon 2 yesterday but then our team of level 50 and under lost against a team of level 90+ guys and I felt no need or desire to keep feeding the matchmaker.

Played through a chunk of the story mode in Smash Ultimate instead. Got a super armor spirit which makes it a hell of a lot easier like goddamn I can actually win some of the time now. The whole spirit system seems poorly explained/implemented but I unlocked the gym so now leveling a spirit is a bit less of an investment.

The scaling AI is maddening though. It can go from completely braindead wanderers to bees buzzing around the stage at maximum speed dodging every attack and comboing you into the sky. I have to either get gud or get better spirits and you have to beat these hard stages to get better spirits so ????

So I'm playing The Kings Bird and while I'm enjoying it I have two big complaints
One is completely on my part though. I'm just not getting something about the movement. Like sometimes you can run on the top walls sometimes not i'm not exactly sure how the right trigger boost thing is supposed to work, I dont get it. Whenever I do something correctly it definitely wasn't me. I think I just need to embrace the momentum completely
Second is that it runs like shit on the switch a lot of the time, frame dropping, several crashes already in just the few hours i've played. Which is strange because I didn't think his was a graphically intense game or anything

something called nightmare reaper. yet another throwback fps. been having fun, lots of callbacks in it, got the wand from heretic in pic.

only downside is it's a bit taxing on old hardware. despite the crusty graphics the recommended hardware of a gtx6-something will actually get kind of hot if you've got the settings cranked up. why people model stuff after ancient dos-era games but decide to use something like unreal4 to include powerful dyanmic shadows/lighting and post-processing still confuses me.

it feels like a complete thing if that's what you're asking. supposedly takes like 8-9hrs to complete, play is solid and i've been enjoying it. it lives up to what's shown in videos.

stuff that feels janky: there's a few ctd bugs, i've seen 3 over several hours of play, and there's only a few basic enemy types. devs have been actively patching and communicating with players about bug reports, and full version is slated to have a lot more of every type of content. you probably wouldn't regret buying but i'd say wait a bit to make sure they're sticking with it. (obligatory "you could just play doom wads")

Played a few hours of Wolfenstein: Youngblood with my friend. This really had potential to be a fun co-op shooter, but they decided to make it like Destiny or The Division where enemies have HP bars and an "enemy level", where you will do drastically less damage to them if you're not the proper level. It's really a shame. I guess they were looking for a way to make the game co-op and not have it become super easy. There had to be a better way than this though

We did have fun but I have a feeling it's gonna get tedious and certain areas will be blocked off if we aren't a high enough level.

been seeing that impression a lot. co-op was a fine idea but a leveling system seems odd. why not just have areas locked off until certain campaign points are met like tons of other games? boring but it's proven and would've probs been better than leveling stuff.

i get that they're coming off two sequential shooters of the standard campaign type but new order and new colossus worked well. goofy decision, blame corporates, fuck.

The new wolfenstein game being The New Colossus? I thought that game was pretty damn cool, even though I was disappointed in the level design. Definitely not "shit".

Youngblood on the other hands...what a fuckin bummer. Me and my friend played a few more hours and it got BAD, really bad. You will approach areas where the enemies are essentially unkillable, and will down you in 1 shot. That is not an exaggeration in the slightest. We put nearly all of our ammo to down one enemy because he was too high a level for us to fight.

The shitty part is that we felt like we were just following the path of the game normally, and now we're just stuck because of some arbitrary fucking number above the enemies head. Way to take some of the best gunplay in modern shooters and ruin it with some fucking stupid RPG game design. At least in genuine RPGs if you go into an area like that, you have a million other places to go explore and level up in. Well not in this game, as far as I could tell the game wanted us to replay missions we had already beaten so we could level up and complete the new missions.

I got like 5 hours into Sundered and decided to restart. My skill tree was all over the place and I did something with a shard I think I would have ended up regretting. Good news is now that I know how the game works and I'm much better at it it took me about half the time to almost get back to where I was.
This game is pretty cool, the artwork and animations are both absolutely beautiful and a total breath of fresh air from the massive amount of 2D pixel art games out there these days, but I can't help but feel it would have been so much better with an actual designed map instead of certain areas being procedural generated. Everything starts to feel samey after a while until you unlock a new one of the three environments and move onto there.
My other problem is that you're almost constantly in combat which doesn't leave much room for peaceful exploration which I usually like to do in metroidvanias, the game just dumps enemies on you by the bucketful. That may be a high point for someone with different tastes though. The combat IS fun, theres just way too much of it in my opinion. No room to breathe.

At a certain point you have the extra hits ability and basically unlimited sneak attacks and can just bang out ludicrous damage. Think a soulbound dagger got involved too which basically let me insta kill bosses below 20% hp.

Smash ultimate singleplayer is such a shitshow. It's obvious they put work into it but it's so horribly unbalanced in a variety of ways and just feels like a big waste of time and effort on my end as the player.

Smash and Splatoon 2 are the only games I've ever played where I had to resist the urge to just chuck the console across the room to quit playing, which seems bizarre to me when it's supposed to be a children's console. Maybe because switch games cost so damn much and I feel I have to get something out of it else my money was wasted. I don't think every game needs a Dark Souls / Monster Hunter difficulty level but it sure seems like that's what's popular today.

Tank Queues are good. Not like Stormblood obviously but the max i waited was five minutes and that was at 3am. Gunbreaker didn't really change things too much and its not really as popular as one would think. One change they made is the reward for Duty is a lot better now. you can exchange the reward for end game Materia and those are hot right now so i make a couple millions a week easy.

Finished my first playthrough of Big Hentai Presents Extreme Angler 2: Revelations

It was good but I'm having a hard time bringing myself to play the other routes, I think for me the open world is maybe a drawback in this case, it often felt like a slog. That and I don't think the gameplay is good enough to carry me through the bits I've already seen. And, contrary to one of the reviews I read before buying, I think the camera is fucking annoying and terrible. Still, it does a lot of genuinely cool, surprising things and ultimately managed to worm its way past my deep distaste for delicate anime battle girls who've never heard of pants, so I am hoping to go back at some point.

Things are different now, for the better. Shadowbringers changed the play style of most classes, and its a lot more fun now. Tanks aren't just targets for the monsters, but you actively have to adjust to other players style while doing damage yourself. Paladin isn't about mitigating damage alone but about protecting your allies and you have the utility to do it. For example, Clemency heals you, but if you used it on another player, 50% of the heal you do to your teammate is yours. So your eyes are always on your party, looking for that opportunity. Also if you manage to cover another enemy at the right time, you can return the damage to the boss if you play ig right.

Machinist is fixed, and he's crazy fun. Dragoon is also really flashy and fun. These are some of the most difficult classes but with the highest dps in the game.

Healers are no longer about dps. They made things easier for them, they used to get treated like shit cause their dps wasn't high enough but now they just chill in the background which made it kinda boring.

Story wise, Shadowbringers is the best. The story is fucking amazing, and im kinda surprised how good expansion pack turned out to be. Worth the 30 dollars.

I mained pally all the way up to the end of the second expansion. I don't intend on playing again, but the time i played i enjoyed it.

my favorite classes was pally, summoner, even though i shit on it earlier, it's tool kit was just so fun and dragoon.

nice to see that it's still going strong, still remember release week when i luckly got my physical copy before they had to stop selling them in order to regain control over overpopulation because they were not expecting such a reaction to it's relaunch.

Bloodstorm was kinda shit to be honest. Shadowbringers is a lot better, especially the story. Its hard to explain, but the main focus of the story is the Warrior of Light. I don't really want to spoil it but if the story was ever a part of the game that interested you, you must play it at some point in the future. Otherwise, if you feel you were frustrated with the gameplay in general then not much has changed to invite frustrated players back.

Wipeout Omega Collection. I'm kind of surprised they just throw you into the game without a tutorial or anything, I guess they expect you to have at least played one of them if you picked up the collection. I say that because after watching a beginners guide video theres a lot of little mechanics like barrel rolls and how weapon absorption and stuff like that works, things that are key mechanics to doing well.
This certainly is an interesting racer, you can't just go in expecting it to be like a car racing game. I really love the air brake system, its so unique and lets you whip around corners keeping your speed up.
I started on HD because while lookin for beginners tips I found one that said any new players to the omega collection should start novice on that one then move onto the others switching difficulties afterwards. Its easy but its also letting me get used to the various mechanics
The game is really gorgeous too, I dont know how it looked before it was remastered but every new track I play I'm wowed

Playing this in VR is intense. Worth getting a headset for if you're into it.

Been playing some Skyrim VR again, trying out vampire lord skillset. The gravity gun move is pretty funny but the damage output seems paltry and melee doesn't seem to work very well. Kinda wanna get around to fabricating some sort of sleeve for the move controller that extends it lower and holds both of them so I can do two handed weapons better.

90% of the game is learning to cheese the tracks by gaining and exploiting airtime to swooce over corners and squeeze in extra barrel rolls. anytime your ship goes airborne, note how it happened and remember it, you will be surprised just how often you can get off the ground. the remaining 10% is your skill at blasting someones ass off with a missile during the split-second window when you're too close to miss. zone mode helps a lot at learning how to deal with the tracks, you either get good at turns or you die.

other tips:
wallgrinding opponents and/or landing on them after jumps are fun and useful strategies. do not overlook the sideways shunt, you can tighten turns without losing speed, avoid missing boost pads, and knock opponents around with it.

Particle Fleet : Emergence (it's Creeper World but with spaceships)

>campaign has 16 levels
>no penalty for death until level 16
>new enemy that can instakill from anywhere added on stage 15
>two of them on final stage
>if they ever get to attack you instantly lose

Hm. I get what the game wants me to do, to rollout fast at stage start and stop those things before they charge, but up until this stage there was no time limit for anything, even if your entire fleet wiped you could still recover but on the last stage if your flagship gets hit it's just instantly over.

Pretty sure by the age of 25 anyone who regularly uses a desktop computer has worked their way up to 3 monitors at least one of them much better/worse than the other two.

I just wanna say i adore SWAT 4, but Rainbow six had completely shifted away from its base long before siege. Rainbow Six Vegas was alright, but it was not even close to the older games.

Siege just went totally beyond what the series was, but at least its a fucking great competitive shooter. The gunplay shits on anything similar, and the different operators makes for a nice meta.

That said, we still have Ready or Not to look forward to. Also play Swat 4 with Elite Force mod and use your mic to issue orders to your squad, it completely changes the game in a great way.

while I respect the destructable enviroments and great gunplay of Siege,
there is no true Coop-Campaign, its too easy, its a grinding nightmare, its waay too overprized for a 4 year old game and the latest updates destroyed the netcode and performance.

We'll see what "Ready or Not" has in Store for us, although the released gameplay so far looked buggy and clunky like hell.

I purchased The Way remastered a while back for like 50 cents or some crazy shit when it was on sale and I'm just now getting around to playing it. This game is wonderful, the voice acting is kind of garbage but there's not much dialogue in the game anyways. Other than that it has a great sci-fi atmosphere that feels straight out of an 80s movie, really fun puzzles and an intriguing story.
It reminds me a lot of those older platformers like Heart of Darkness for some reason
And I know there's a huge oversaturation of pixel art graphics these days but somehow this ones style manages to feel unique

Phantom speed class in Wipeout is absolute insanity. Rapier is definitely my favorite because it feels nice and fast but not so fast that you're ping ponging all over the track like in phantom. Even in the time trials and speed laps on phantom its hard for me to control my ship and the actual races are fucking chaos with mines all over the place and rockets going off every 2 seconds. And the AI even seems like its trolling me in the phantom races, always getting in my way or seemingly trying to push me off the track or into the rails, holy shit its aggravating.
Btw fuck Chenghou Project that is the worst goddamn track I have played so far and the one I always have problems with. I had to switch from the Harimau to a ship with better shielding because I would explode two laps in. Seneco climb is pretty bad too.
I'm glad i'm almost done with the HD compaign and can move onto Fury because I was getting pretty tired of the same 10 tracks over and over again

Got into Three Houses. Opinions might differ, but FE is probably tied with Zelda as my favorite series of all time. I've legitimately 100% completed all the previous ones, used everyone in my A-squad at least once each, all supports, etc etc... so when a new one comes out I essentially lose my free time to it till I beat it. Gonna have to do this 4 times with 3H, I guess, but it's a labor of love.

I legit had to put off plowing through 3H due to my wedding and honeymoon, but now that life has settled back to normal, I'mma have some fun. I picked Golden Deer first and my favorites in the house are Raphael, Lysithea, and Lorenz.

The one complaint I kept seeing about this in reviews is the difficulty, what a bunch of fuckin babbys, it's hard but not like impossible and they should have expected a game that looks this brutal to be hard.

Strong but with limited Ammo. Loverboy's ammo is everywhere, probably more then other weapons. I can see the difference in the higher difficulty. You tend to always go back to it during emergencies because you are less likely to waste ammo and you only have one thing to focus on. The gun is a life savior but it doesn't require your skill for it which makes dangerous moments less thrilling.
Is it me or is the game pretty long. I guess the maze like levels are starting to get to me, but the game is exhausting.

Putting waaaaayyyyy too much time into Underrail with the new expansion. I'm not sure if it's stockholm syndrome or I'm just feeling spicy, but I'm starting to think it's better than Fallout in a lot of ways, especially with all the updates. There's so much cool shit to stumble across while exploring, great atmosphere, some surprisingly good writing and quest design (although it can be pretty inconsistent there), plus it's super cheap given the sheer amount of content.

Not to say it doesn't suck at times. For example the periodic camp raids in the expansion are pretty dumb thanks to the braindead friendly AI, lack of plot-armor on important characters, and the fact that you spend most of the time waiting for like 20 NPC turns to play out. In fairness I'm not really built for protracted, stand-up fights especially when electrokinesis randomly decides to jump to an ally and turn everyone hostile... but being constantly pestered to either return to camp or trust them to handle it by themselves when you're in the middle of something is incredibly lame

Woah nice I haven't seen any of those yet. The tree legs let you root enemies around you and do quite a good amount of damage. I've really liked the egg-laying one with the 2 minions and any extras become explosive and do way more damage.

I do t really know what's happening but the NPCs in my Oblivion save are dying?
I run into dead bodies from time to time. Just lying there in the middle of the street in the Imperial City. I'm running into a problem with my Theif guild quest, I think the NPC who was meant to be an informant is dead or missing so I'm stuck. Don't know if loading an earlier save will fix it either and my previous one is thirty hours ago.
Serves me right for playing a khajit. I just turned into a vampire and got gloves of midnight so I was thinking of just Killing everyone in their sleep and call it a night.

NPC's have scheduled meal times. if the NPC has no food in their inventory the AI will take nearby food and get mobbed and killed by everyone nearby for stealing. often while you're not nearby. certain NPC's are prone to this because they don't have a home with foods in it or access to un-owned food items in the area.

of course if you just can't find someone there's good odds the game's legendary AI pathfinding has fucked off to the other side of the map or is stuck walking in a corner somewhere.

Oh fuck. I stole everything in the Imperial City, including the food. I really needed money for Gloves of Midnight. They should've told me stealing shit was gonna fuck this shit up.
I guess I can go back to a save from before I started the Dark Brotherhood Questline since at that point I wasn't interested in the overpriced gloves yet but that's like 50 hours of gameplay just gone. I still don't want to abandon my Khajit, it took me a while to get his hand to hand and sneak skill so high and the BruceLee/FistOfTheNorthStar gameplay I came up with is hella fun. I'm feeling the urge to make something new but too tired to go through everything again.

I'm pretty surprised with how much i'm enjoying Akane, because of the arcadey nature of the game I almost didn't buy it but i'm glad I did. I'm usually turned off by games where the only objective is to get a high score but the game gives you goals and unlockables that feel like you're actually working towards something. Plus its just downright fun as fuck and the soundtrack is amazing, I thought it would be a game I would play in short bursts but i've been playing it for hour+ sessions each time I pick it up.
Also just something random I noticed but i'm pretty sure the sound Katsuro makes when you defeat him is the exact same sound that the main character in Katana Zero makes when he dies

Dude a friend of mine left his PS2 here for a couple days so I dusted off good ol' Shinobido and my memory card with the last saves I had (game++) and went in blind and holy shit does it hold up boah.

In Shinobido you play as some ninja who lost his memory and woke up in a riverbank, dude follows a cat to some abandoned shack and sets up shop there. the thing is you start getting contracts from three lords:

Nobuteru Ichijo, who's a bit of a pansy but his intentions are alright. his demise can be both hilarious or sad I mean I didn't know he could be killed that early. I was on a mission stealing rice to weaken his troops. for some reason he was strolling around some fucking bales of rice and spotted me so I killed him becase I knew some of the lords had doubles for this exact reason but it seems Ichijo fucked up and didn't have one so I wiped out his faction accidentally in early/mid game

Kagetora Akame he wants to conquer all Nihon but he's a dumbass
This is the guy I was talking about having doubles, dude totally got me. the first time I played this game I played for his faction and it turns out he's dying (some heart disease) if you play for his faction you even get to fight bears because you need their hearts and blood to craft some medicine and asks you to keep him alive at least until he can conquer the region you're in. Bears are fucking difficult to kill and sometimes you have to kill around 7

Then we mix a bit of islam and Aum Shinrikyo and get Lady Sadame, total psycho and she even has her own sect, the Amurita faith but even she knows it's all bullshit and she only cares for herself so naturally I sided with her this time.

There's alchemy, you can make custom missions, all the lords send their little rants and shitposts directly to you when you mess enough with them, the gameplay can be super fast and frantic (won't work well on hard or beyond) or stealthy and even stealthy and super fast, there's many executions and most are hilarious and brutal, the story isn't that bad and the cutscenes are pretty good.

TL;DR If you like really good ninja shit go play Shinobido: way of the ninja

I didn't finish the game this time though. My friend picked up his PS2 yesterday.

Transistor has a really interesting combat system, its almost turn based yet real time mushed together. You have this bar that reloads in real time that dictates how many actions you can perform and basically when you are planning what to do everything is frozen in place then when everything is executed time resumes
So you can actually miss hitting an enemy if they're moving even if you the mark was on in the planning phase.
Its kind of hard to explain.
The upgrade system is pretty cool too, basically you can take one attack and put it in the upgrade slot of another attack and you get both the effects of the two. I can imagine once you unlock a good amount of attacks its going to be fun mixing and matching

I'm waiting for my new job to start and staying with my parents until then.
The only thing my laptop can play is either Rimworld or Caves of Qud, both of which I've kind of burned myself out on.

Currently playing the most boring game of Rimworld ever, nothing has happened, everything pretty stable, just feels like a dull chore now telling my colonists to do shit now.

Caves of Qud clearly has something going for it but I've barely ever been able to complete any quests or get much further than level 3, I roll a new character, have loads of fun with it for 20 minutes, get killed VERY suddenly and then i can't really be bothered to start from the beginning and do it all again. I know that permadeath roguelikes have that as their entire thing, but I do kinda wish I could just roll back a couple of turns and survive every now and then.

Fuck me I can't wait until I can play EU IV again...That's the dream, as soon as this is all dealt with I'm gonna buy an actual gaming PC and binge that shit.

Decided to keep my Oblivion save. Threw a bunch of apples everywhere and hoped for the best.

I can't seem to survive beyond level 20 using only hand to hand skills without relying on Skooma and Wine to buff my stats. Fighting Minotour lords is a blast since they also use hand to hand but everyone else seem to always have the upper hand. getting especially harder now since they're always knocking me down. Bought a house in Bravil so il have access to Skooma and I also murdered and stole all the Skooma from the Skooma Den.

Kinda of running out of steam. This is my second playthrough this year making it around four hundred hours. Getting tired and I officially feel like I experienced everything Oblivion has to offer. Revisiting It in five years is going to be swell.

You know, I've done the main quest line maybe seven times and I still can't clearly remember it. It's not bad but sometimes it feels like a chore and you're better off just forgetting about it. Two different kinds of "control mind" are available, so first enemy I see I just eat the mind of and clean out the rest so its safe, if I come across something too strong I just get over there with my real body and take over that things mind instead. If I end up meeting several enemies at once just use the two types of mind-take-over at once and you can mince-meat the ones still not under control.

Serial Cleaner is pretty fun, albeit tedious and frustrating at times.
You can be one body or piece of evidence away from clearing a level, get caught, and have to start all over again. Something else that kind of bothers me is that the location of bodies and evidence jumps around each time you start the level over again after getting caught, I feel like this game would work a lot better if they were constant. It would make planning your route through an area a lot more fun, at least for me, but I can see how others might prefer the random placement.

I forgot what a fucking masterpiece Silent Hill 2 is. I think the last time I played this game was a decade ago; these days it's unbelievable that Konami and their asshole Yakuza bosses allowed something this wonderful to be made on their dime. And holy shit, for a 2001 game on the PS2, what they managed to pull off with the graphics was serious black fucking magic.

Gorgeous, poignant, creepy, rockin' soundtrack, pure quality. Fuck the HD collection. You don't George Lucas perfection. Thank fuck you can get the PC version for free now as abandonware, and fans are so dedicated that they've set up a huge mod package to patch the game for modern systems and run it at our fancy space resolutions.

https://www.myabandonware.com/game/silent-hill-2-restless-dreams-bgd#download
http://www.enhanced.townofsilenthill.com/SH2/

I also forgot just how different it is in tone to Silent Hill 1 and 3. It's just not as scary; it's got more of an intense feeling of creeping dread and disgust about it, like walking through a condemned unfinished building on a pitch-black moonless night and you keep stepping in hobo poop. Very subtle compared to Silent Hill 1 and 3, which are just outright fucking terrifying, much closer to the feel of a traditional horror movie. Now I gotta play Silent Hill 4 again too, if I remember right it's the only other game in the series that's subtly creepy and disturbing and surreal in the same way 2 is. Also I'm pretty sure I never beat it, since I wasted so many health items in the first half that once the room stops healing you I was completely fucked.

There are actually people who don't like this series. Literally sub fucking human.

I'm waiting for River City Girls to download.
I just found out about it yesterday during the Nintendo direct and bought it as soon as I got home. A lot of games are set to release this month and honestly this is the one that excited me most. It looks a lot closer to the Scott Pilgrim game than it does any of the other river city games but that was a good game too so I don't mind. Can't wait for a Kunioless Kunio Kun game.

Heads up for you switchbros
Just found out on leddit you can get a year free of switch online if you have amazon prime, just type in twitch on amazon, go to the twitch prime page and scroll down to the NSO thing
You get 3 months free initially and then after 60 days can claim another 9
It also defaults to auto renewal so remember to delete your credit card from the system after you sign up so they dont jew you out of another couple months

After having played if for a while it's actually pretty fun. I think it's well made and deserves to be in the $30-40 dollar tier of games. It's not a re-release or a remake and doesn't do any rehashing, it's solidly its' own game. I wish more devs aimed for this price point instead of shoehorning in online and DLC then charging $60.

As far as the new River City games go I like this one the best, it's better than Underground and the DS one's I've played IMO, and I really liked RC Underground. It doesn't feel like the leveling is broken and you can't just grind and button mash, there is some skill involved. This one feels more like the original and less like an action RPG. The English dub isn't bad either, but I'm the kind of mcdonalds eating commoner that watches dubbed anime.

Fallout 4 of all things. I hated it when it came out, now I'm finding it a great source of relaxation and/or tension, with a pile of mods. In particular Sim Settlements, some survival mode QoL, but a bunch of others too. Upped the damage giving and receiving to like 4x which mitigates bullet sponging a little, while still keeping things dangerous.

It's pretty alright. It would still be better if the base game wasn't just a FPS with a quick nod at RPGs.

Child of Light is neat but to be honest i'm not a big fan of the combat system right now, specifically the timing aspect of it. I think it might grow on me if I play more though I probably just haven't gotten a good grip on it yet. You also get the fly ability way too early IMO, it makes the exploration feel rushed
Still for a game like this the combat and inventory system is impressively complex, I was not expecting that at all. The art direction is gorgeous and I love the cheesy iambic pentameter dialogue, the developers seem to have put a lot of effort and love into this one

I feel like Deep Crimson will never be bested by a future release. Everything about that game was so cool. Tag team battles, Yoma, Yoma Generals, the outfits, weapon advancement, epic boss fights.

It's funny because anyone I know from PBS who ends up playing Deep Crimson at some point ends up wondering "why didn't they keep going with this direction?"

I'm sure I'm beating a dead horse, but I will happily settle for a remake like they did with Burst if they keep all of the unique elements in.

Persona 5 runs great on the ps3 emulator rpcs2. I'm new to the series and jrpgs in general but uh...I kinda love this. So far the characters are pretty tame for an anime game, the dungeon crawling is good, the different avenues for improving your characters stats are varied and interesting. The game is constantly giving me choices: do I want to go work out, maybe read a book, go befriend someone who can help me, or go kill shit. Or go work a job ,and so on. Only you can't just do everything, you have to make sacrifices constantly. Pretty neat execution.

Any y'all playing Arkham Knight? This is actually my first game in the series i only played the demo for arkham asylum back in the 360 days. I'm liking it but these controls feel like they were mapped my a fucking madman. L1 to enter bat mobile? Hold x to glide? Right d pad to access missions??? what the fuck. The game also relies on the batmobile so goddamn much what's up with that. But the missions are fun the riddler stuff is even more fun and I always love a game that gives a relatively smaller map compared to other open world games but then packs them with detail, secrets, and stuff to do. It also fits really well in a game like this because you start to know the streets you're playing on
I might pick up the other two after this but it looks like they only come in a collection with the third one so I'd be sitting on a double

I still haven't gotten around to Knight yet, but City is fucking great. AA is pretty good but a bit too linear in a small map kinda way. AC feels mush more open even though it is also a bit linear. Origins is surprisingly good, just the right sized map to really get exploring without it feeling too large or too small.

It's one of those situations where I'm not even sure if I'm hurting the boss at all when I have managed to hit him 10+ times but he's not turning red or really showing weakness since he powers up after being hit.

Really liked the game. The combat system falls apart near the end of the it but I still think it's a interesting. As for the story, it's love it or hate it kind of game. I loved it, and I especially like her Sister. You don't get that many brutally honest villains who are conflicted between their love for their family and the protagonist. It's sad, because if she took full advantage of the situation, she would've won easily, except she goes out of her way to make her little step sister strong enough to fight her on equal grounds and she ends up losing and dying by her hand.

I was following Creature in the Well a couple months and bought it on release day but didn't get around to playing it until now, its pretty much everything I was hoping for. Very simple and very satisfying gameplay with a wonderful artstyle. One of my worries was that it would be kind of mindless just bouncing balls every which way without a thought but thankfully theres actually some tactic to it.
I do have a couple complaints though one is just that my settings dont seem to save whenever I exit the game, its great that you can remap the controls but it never stays that way.
And whenever you die you get thrown out of the dungeon with this really cool animation of the creatures hand reaching down but, while your progress in the dungeon seems to stay, you still have to make your way through all the rooms to get back to where you were. And as far as I can tell theres no checkpoints or anything, but I did hear that theres a teleport before each boss encounter so at least theres that.

I also picked up VVVVVV when it was on sale, i'm ready to get angry
how the hell are you supposed to pronounce that anyways, 6V? V6? just VVVVVVV?

Gotta couple questions for you fags.

First, how hard is Baba is You? I'm interested in the game and looking for a good puzzler but I keep hearing it be compared to The Witness, which I had huge problems with, I didn't even finish it because it fucked my head so hard to the point of anger..I could have used guides sure but that takes all the fun out of puzzle games and makes them pointless. I just don't want to spend money on a game I have no chance of finishing, but the way puzzles work in baba seems completely different than the witness

Second, I'm either gonna buy N++ or Slime-san, and in definitely going to get both but I don't want to be playing two platforming games at the same time so I'll buy the other when I finish the first, but which first? As you can see I'm an indecisive little cunt

Completely different kind of puzzles yeah.
Though they do really get hard though. I enjoy The Witness, it takes a while for some later stuff to get to you, but there's always another thing that starts to make sense each session.
Baba is You is kinda more, I hit a wall in each world after finishing the easier maps/puzzles where my brain just doesn't carry me anymore, and even after several sessions attempts the cogs still don't move anywhere. I'm still keeping up bashing my head against it though, in the hope for that sweet sweet release.

So yeah, chances are you'll get frustrated at Baba too.

Greedfall...

First time playing a Spiders game. Despite the jank it's cool in a lot of ways, especially given the obviously limited budget, but the quest design and characters can feel pretty soulless at times. Feels like they could've cut out a lot of pointless running back and forth on the side content, at the very least.

Also gave the Anomaly standalone STALKER mod a shot. Combines a ton of new stuff with some of my favorite things from other mods, but everyone seems to randomly turn hostile when I load a save and I can't be bothered to figure out what's wrong, so I'll probably just come back to it another time.

>COD Modernwarfare open Beta

Its ok. Its not bad but its not great either. some changes were made to make it a little more fun but does it warrant a 60$ purchase?
FUck no.
I like the female operators, especially the black lady with the english accnt. when she says "ÜAV Down" makes my penis big penis. What else, I cant really see much from my screen cause the gun is takeing up like 50% of my screen which i dont know if its realistic or not cause i've held a gun in my life (like to keep it that way).
Graphics really good. I'd imagine it gets even better less janky after its out of beta maybe. Definitly microtransactions in the future but hopefully it wont be too bad.

Listen, its an open beta till 23 of september, the game 40 gb so give it a try. I had a good laugh and uninstalled it

See that's the thing though, it's not. It's not the same cod, there is a lot of thought put into the map and the positions you get to take. If I'd say it's a lot more like COD4 with Rainbow Siege thrown in the mix. Instead of it being super close quarters like siege, its spread out but not frantic. You dont have run around the map like a Jack ass, you get different playstyle each with it's own advantage. It doesn't have a lot of depth, but it's seriously fun once you get into it.

Open beta. What are you going to lose?

You can't make this shit up, also it's still the same game you dipshit. It's still a shitty arcade shooter that tries to add "tactical" elements from other more complex games and ends up being a really shitty version of both. And ironically the best way to play the game is still to run at full speed firing from the hip ranking up killstreaks untill you become literally unkillable, it's the same exact shit as the older ones "Y-y-yeah but in the maps you can OPEN doors now!" oh wow and it doesn't change the gameplay from being stale, uninspired and depth less from the other ones. Stop jerking off to lolicon, get out of house and stop being a faggot.

Wait till people realize that new loot and shoot games(dungein crawlers) don't actually have any reasoning behind the main mechanics of the games. You go from doing 60 damage to an enemy with 100 health to doing 6000 damage to an enemy with 10000 health.

I don't have to be a cook to know the chef took a shit on my plate, and I can clearly see from the literal HUNDREDS of actual Call of Duty gameplay videos and footage on youtube thats it's still the same fucking game. I can look at gameplay footage of Ride to Hell retribution and know that the game is shit, I don't need to play through it, thats retarded. "Y-y-yeah but it's still in beta!" Than the beta gameplay doesn't mean shit untill the actual game comes out anyways in which case I'll still wait for footage to come out for it instead to know it's shit.

I know it's very determintal to the experience but I swear under all that BS there is a good game. I know a lot of people who enjoy it and I do too so you know. 60 is bs though, you shouldn't even get the game at half price of that but if it ever goes f2p you should pick it up.

>>743033
Cod4 is nothing like siege. What I'm saying is its cod4 with siege thrown in the mix. I seem to enjoy it the more I play it. It's not all Team deathmatch, and the other mods punish you severely for running around like an idiot. The Realism mode is also a lot of fun, pulling out your silenced pistol to kill the enemy just so the guy upstairs doesn't hear you never felt so satisfying.

You could all experience that for yourself right now, just download the open beta. Remember it ends on the 23rd of september and you won't get to play the game for at least a year till it goes on sale or something. Play it and form your own opinion.

Getting back on topic... I'm thinking about picking up Okami HD and what seems to be the average time it takes to beat it is like 40-50 hours yet I hear the game only has like 8 dungeons so what the hell do you even do besides that in this game? I'm not a big fan of dialogue heavy games so if you're running around villages talking to people a lot I might give it a pass, maybe y'all can tell me what's up.
I've also been eyeballing Rain World which has intrigued me since I first found out about it. The game oozes atmosphere but from the gameplay I've seen there doesn't seem to be much to do besides run away from monsters and eat things

Why is it so easy to sink hours and hours into MMOs?

I played Mabinogi for nearly 20 hours in the past 2 days. Just doing random quests or hanging out with friends I met. In comparison, I beat The Forest recently which took about 20 hours and felt like an eternity spread out over a month.

I guess it's mostly the social aspect. A lot of time can pass by when you're drinking with some good conversation no matter where it happens.

You ever play a game for so long, your body feels weak afterwards?

I dont think the human body was designed for 12 hours of straight gaming. I feel like I got the flu, and just the worst headache. I'd lie on my bed and it feels like I'm still focused on something even if the lights are off. If you manage to fall asleep you'll dream about the game too.
I used to experience that a lot when I was a kid, only cause without my parents knowing I'd wake up at 2am, turn on my MSX and spend hours gaming till the sunrise. I hope il never lose my love for video games.

One game I always go back to everytime I have the flu is Donkey Kong Country 2. It's just a tradition for me. Whenever I get sick, i just know it's time to save Donkey Kong from King K rool.

I'm replaying FF8 and liking the quality of life improvements the remake made. My favorite being the 3x speed like an emulator that doesn't mess with the music and sounds and the option to have limit breaks always on (easy mode essentially). Getting Tonberry King wasn't a shitty hour long grind to get to and you can turn the features on and off with the r3 and l3 buttons, super convenient.

I forgot what shitty 1 dimensional characters most of them are. Squall is so cringey and when I add the layer that I first played the game at 9 years old and thought he was cool it's even worse. The only characters that aren't shit are Zell and Selphie and they are not given nearly enough story. I like the story because of how bad it is, not in spite of it. I also really like the fan theory that Squall dies when the sorceress stabs him with the icicle at the end of disk 1 and the rest of the game is his death throws DMT trip.

My favorite are blue ccontrol. There's nothing so satisfying as stealing a guy's basic lands just because that's all he has left for you to steal. Gotta keep at least a few counter spells for those inevitable direct damage decks though.

God I loved doing that shit. It was so infuriating to other people. It often got to the point where I was pretty much just letting spells through only based on how much u wanted to steal it or not.

Think I might be retarded. For the longest time I always thought that Mario Rabbids was a party game for some reason, both that and the fact that rabbids are the minions of the gaming world made me avoid the game like the plague. I don't have anything against party games but I never have anyone to play them with
So when I find out that it's actually an XCOM clone with a layer of Mario charm painted over it and saw the glowing reviews I bought it.
The game is damn good but also making me hate myself because I'm actually laughing at some of the gags
And it's not just an xcom clone it has a lot of things that sets it apart which is really nice. Mini game type things, an overworld of sorts with stuff to do in it, the battle segments flow into each other on the same map.
its like the strangest mash up of ideas but it works and it's really enjoyable what the fuck
And look at this Mario fuckin naruto runs when following the robot

I still dont think buying the lite is a good idea either. It doesn't "switch" so I'm not sure why they even called it that. The first device was already a good handheld so taking that features that made it special, giving it a new color and selling it back at a high price to us is just double dipping. Also I heard if you own both the two devices, you need to deregister a device everytime you switch playing between them or the games won't run. Just Nintendo being shit at online services again.

>>743211
Never owned one so I dont know but I got my little niece one and we always play it together in switch mode. most of the time she just leaves it on her lap and playing it with the controller separated from the device. She's eight years old but I dont think she'll be playing it in any other way for a long while and I dont believe the Lite version will change that. Even with my two other nephews we still have a good time playing Mario Kart on that tiny screen together every friday. I dont even know how to set it up, the kids do it for me and they know exactly what they need to do, they just hand me the controller. The switch is perfect for kids and adults but the lite doesn't capture either group as well as I thought it would.

>Assassin Creed Odyssey

HARD SPOILER I killed my father and chucked him off the mountain. I even killed his adopted son and did the same. I haven't felt this good over killing a character since House from new Vegas. If you actually hugged and made up then you're a fool. I dont care how much he loved you or if he needed to protect the kingdom because he's the "King". Any father who cant protect his kids from madmen is no father of mine

Seriously though, I love the choices in this game. If you didn't play it cause some e-celeb told you to, you need to ignore that whinebag and go play it.

The first ones multiplayer was anything but tacked on though, it was actually really good and probably my favorite MP of any game i've played in the last 10 years. Thats probably why so many people are disappointed, TLOU is known for its story but my favorite part of the whole game was Factions and many of us were just expecting it to be there. Over on redd*t they're saying that the developer was hiring for a TLOU MP related job not too long ago so they're speculating that its going to come later in an update, just not at launch.

Yeah I played through quite a bit of BoTW on CEMU over a year ago, but screwed up the settings somehow and couldn't be fucked with figuring out how to get the game patched up now that Helper tool is offline. I figured since I had a Switch copy, I'd just suck it up and play it on the original hardware and ended up getting really into it. Luckily it also eased me back into being able to tolerate 30hz, because for the longest time I just couldn't play anything below 60 without feeling sick.

Welp, I finished up some errands today, so the rest of the day's dedicated to drinking whisky and playing some Red Dead.

No. Problem is, YL only played like BK on a surface level. Everything else about the game ignored the things that made BK hold up to this day. The levels are filled with empty space, they're tedious to explore, the puzzles aren't as clever, the combat is somehow even jankier than before, the music is almost entirely forgettable, the characters aren't as funny or interesting, and the quiz show went from a cute boss sequence to a recycled and interminable chore to gate progress and pad the length.

YK was good for precisely one level at the very beginning, and gets progressively worse for the entire rest of the game.

Not to dampen your nostalgia, but as someone who played BK for the first time many yearsafter it was released, it was also tedious to explore. Sure, it's ridiculously charming, but as a game it's just not that fun. It comes from an era where devs has no idea what to do with another D, so they just shoved it in your face with a bunch of fucking collect a thon bullshit that is ONLY enjoyable when coupled with the intense rush of euphoria at seeing a real 3D world come alive for the first time.

I'm experimenting a bit, trying to see if FFXIV is worth recommending as a single player game. With the new trust system that will probably be expanded on with every update, its worth seeing if it can be. So far so good, im playing through game regularly and reading through all the quests. My only issue is, i picked one of the new servers that give 100% percent more exp so im a little over leveled, but that isnt too bad except for it making the game a tad boring. Overall, i really do enjoy the game as a single player experience with a little co op on the side. Il post my playtime once i get to the end of ShadowBringers.

I never really paid any attention to Papalymo until now. He's such a good person, its easy to take him for granted. Hes been there for the Warrior of light and his friends more than anyone.

Buddy. You're responding to a content post with a shitpost.

Been playin No Man's Sky on the PSVR
It's... not great, but there aren't really any other options on the PS4 for the content it provides right now. I had already played through non-VR a few months ago and got the platinum, I think they took some steps forward but also a little bit backward.

Load times are awful for planets when flying/jetpacking long distances, going above minimum throttle means things load in underneath and behind you, the game just can't keep up, even on PS4 Pro. This is a huge immersion killer for me to scan for nearby buildings, see something, then fly over and see it floating in the air and not be able to land until I circle around 2-3 times, especially since even at the lowest throttle you're still moving pretty quick.

Once it does load in it usually works fine though. It's still NMS which means you shoot lasers at rocks but the recent update buffed stack limits to 9999 on most items so there's far less inventory management going on and doing it in VR means you can move+look+shoot in different directions which makes it a little more interesting. The new tech and language options are nice, letting you choose what to learn instead of just hoping you get something useful to you, though it sure demands a lot of salvaged data that they don't really provide.

At launch there was this awful depth of field thing going on [like nearsighted mode] which they have since patched out, but now you see the jaggies everywhere and I'm not sure how much better it is comparatively. It's less disorienting for sure, but I don't think the PSVR resolution is high enough to make it look particularly good. I'd post a screenshot but they take them at PS4 quality, not what you'd see in the headset. (ex. a vertical neon light at a distance might be a jaggy 1 pixel wide line that flickers in and out until you get close enough to see more than 1 pixel width at a time, wheras before it might be a somewhat hazy line across several pixels that blends into what's around it until you get within 10~ feet or so.)

When it's not buggin out (like my second freighter being an enormous buggy headache that still isn't solved) it's fun though. There's a lot to see and I've found a few relaxing environments that would be nice to load up and chill in sometimes. Gain creds/nanites/upgrades/ships but once you get enough it's just RNG hoping you bump into something better than what you have.

Maybe I should plow through the main quests again and see if anything is new, there are some NPCs in the new nexus area that look like they have some progression I have yet to meet the requirements for.

Last time I played was after Warmind released, finished the main story, Curse of Osiris and Warmind on 2 different characters but kinda fell out of it.

Hopped back on with my friend, transfered my characters from the PS4 version and well i'm having a blast. I enjoyed Forsaken and i'll be picking up the new exp soon.

My only thing was that you're too overpowered to experience the story as it was supposed to be, at least the Red War part and you don't have to worry about leveling up because you're already at max level (just have to worry about light level now). That kind of threw me for a loop.

I bought it a week before it was announced on PC lol. I'll probably buy it when it's on a deep sale next year.

Doubt it considering it's not a TV in the first place. PS4 screenshots get compressed to shit.

I hope you're having fun in RDR 2.

It's probably the most fun i've had playing a video game in a long time and i do not regret getting the Ultimate Edition.

It definitely was for me, easily Rockstar's masterpiece. I hope GTA6 is made in the same vein.

Nioh. Last time I tried to play it I was an alcohol dependent mess. Been off that shit for a year and now I actually made it past the second level. It's still hard as fuck but it's possible now. Also I'm using a spear so I got reach this time.

Super Meatshine
Its very fun and has pretty much everything I look for in a platformer. Fun level design, a few unique mechancis, challenge areas, collectibles in each level

Relic Hunters Zero
A co-op twin stick shooter that's free on Steam with no microtransactions, how crazy
Pretty reasonably balanced, you get a regenerating shield and enemies rarely surprise you, I usually only die if I eat a sniper round or rocket
It's got bright colors and the visual style is easy to read, I like it.

The endless mode after the story mode is a total crapshoot though. They're touting it as the main mode but Adventure was short and sweet whereas endless is full of stage modifiers that are completely negative, like flat increases on enemy damage or health with no counterbalance like bigger hitboxes or slower movement.

Storm mode is more interesting, it gives much larger maps in a sort of battle royale setting and you can get shit like a minigun that shoots shotgun rounds alongside the minigun rounds

For a free title it's pretty good, definitely worth a play if you're into twin stick stuff at all.

>Final Fantasy 3
>Die in the Tutorial for the Fourth Time

The hell is wrong with this game??
I think its cause I get lost very easily and it becomes increasingly difficult because your resources are limited. I had the same issue after I walked out of the cave, once Arc left Ur town, I kept getting lost looking for him and since I'm alone i get murdered by the mobs outside. Strangest thing is, if you try to enter the town arc is in from the top, it only shows you Luneth event where he just runs away from a ghost, but if you enter it from the bottom, you'll get to see Arc.

Tried out Aeon of Sands.
Kinda like a more retro Grimrock I guess? I mean I know grimrock is inspired by older games in the style, but I never played those so. Only checked this out cause apparently it's made in LÖVE and I was curious to see a working 2.5D implementation in a totes 2D engine.
I do like that you only start with one char, easier to get into it when you don't have to juggle 4 simultaneouslyfrom the get-go. Also fast-buttons for combat is nice. Not having to mouseclick except for inventory stuff.
But the bad...
You can really tell that it's made by an amateur, cause before the game even begins you have to read through a spiel about how you should read stuff etc. Trying to make you pay attention to the writing cause "I spent more than a year writing this". I mean sure it's kinda true, but it's just unprofessional to make the player read a cringy rant before playing. I wouldn't have been so bothered if it wasn't in such a cloying tone.
The screen estate usage is pretty weird. Tiny tiny window for the actual gameplay. Could've been improved loads by just removing the mouse-movement-arrows (doubt anybody would use them over just WASD) and moving some other things around.
Third but last, loading time is super long. This is 2.5D retro shit, pixel stuff. But it takes longer to load than a Doom 2016 level (my computer isn't the best (4gb of RAM etc level) so they took a small wait).
