Warframe.
Not sure if it stops beeing fun after a while but I've got now 85 hours in and I have already fought Space-Battles in a space-rocket-suit with a powerful minigun, fought a zombie-infestation, got a pet, and found recently to very powerful daggers that slit enemies into small pieces and give me a loot-bonus to stealth-kills.

Entered my first Clan a week ago and planning to kill the huge raid-bosses in the future.

All of this for free.
Not a single dime spent.

I DL'd this on your recommondation yesterday. When I started I sort of had the same feeling as when I tried out Destiny, idk exactly how to explain it, its almost like the missions dont really feel like they matter or have an impact and theres so many different mechanics to keep track of its kind of overwhelming. But unlike destiny i'm having a lot of fun with this games combat and starting to halfway learn whats going on with stuff like upgrades and materials and how missions work. Had to google many things though.
Think I might keep with it for a bit, see where it takes me.

DW2 is like toribash if it was real time MMA, the turn based toribash style doesn't work yet. Might be fun if the AI helps you balance and you can animate your own fighting style for real time... no idea what the single dev is doing though.

slapshot is hockey and you whip your mouse around to use the stick. fucking hard too.

Also love the kunai for stealth ops and the exalted blade, radial javelin and blinding powers for melee. It's a dope game but my laptop is freezing up while playing it. Any normie tips you guys can give me? I already dropped all the adjustable video graphic settings down as low as it would let me. It seems like that actually made things worse. Anyway it's really fun but I'm looking for a way to stop it from freezing up intermittently. Thanks all!

Sales/revenue doesn't tell you about the quality of the game, in a F2P it just tells you how good they are at milking whales without collapsing the game's ecosystem. I played hearthstone years ago and just wished I was playing MTG instead. Which is actually better is debatable honestly but activision/blizzard are shitters who have not yet burned out their rabid fanbase.

In relative terms the Doom shareware demo was more distributed than windows at one point. But distribution and quality haven't correlated particularly strongly since the 90s. Unless you think the COD series is GOAT and Snoop Lion's voice acting is what makes a game great.

If you play the meta in MTG you'll do better. Especially in rated. In unrated you meet all sorts of jank and it actually pisses me off when I see a meta deck. I have a blue tempo deck (RIP in October though) which is meta as fuck and the only time I know I've lost is if I come up against RDW and they go first and don't get shitty pulls.

Most of my games are unranked with my lifegain deck. It's not competitive in gold tier but in unranked aside from the 90% of games where the top 20 cards of the deck are 1 white spell and 19 swamps it wins some and loses some and the wins are always stupid and delicious like helm of the host cloning epicures of blood with Ajani's welcome up. It might be viable soon, with saproling dryad bullshit rotating out and new cards coming in to give you more early game options it might be good.

The difference between meta and not is such that if you play a not meta deck you'll win noticeably less but you'll still be able to beat certain meta decks without luck based bullshit if you've got a strong concept.

The meta right now is board wipes and counter spells coupled with a draw engine and a way to shuffle your graveyard into your library. You'll win most matches if you play that kind of a deck. I've built a black/white/green deck that keeps using board wipes and revenge until the opponent gives up. MTG arena is in a stupid state right now. They need to take the older sets out of the picture, or it's going to keep getting easier because more and more board wipes/exile/kill cards keep becoming available with each new set. Like just remove cleansing nova and immortal sun and the meta shifts radically.

IIRC, they said they were gonna keep up with physical standard for ranked, and unranked would be this faux-modern where you can use pretty much all cards across the sets in the game.

A cyber punk f2p fps.

it had grind walls and shit, but it also had a weapon rental system where if you grind the game for like 30 min you can get what ever gear you want for a day or so.

Then about a year and a half into the game existing they ratched up all the pay wall and progress inhibiter shit.

Now the game is unplayable unless you constantly pump money into it to get the best gear that actually effects your ability to win in game.
The game is unplayable now

So they can gather information from non-paying players to sell to tech companies.

Plus if you're always seeing other players with better gear than you it gives you a goal to reach vs a singleplayer game only showing you what you're supposed to be seeing at that given moment.

Crossout's currently a favorite of mine. It's a vehicular combat game set in a Mad Max-type world. Available on Consoles and PC. There's PVP, CTF, Racing, even an entire Singleplayer campaign. Its main feature is the vast customization options for vehicles which enables players to construct crazy wasteland war machines of all different kinds. Ratrods, Monster Trucks, Hovercars, Landcrawlers, Tanks, even giant "Leviathan" class vehicles that require a crew of 3 players. Makes for some pretty awesome moments of large-scale armored warfare; you get to see all the crazy stuff people come up with to destroy eachother, and you can share and download vehicle designs to build and tweak to your preference if you see something you like...so long as you have the parts and resources, those which can be bought, sold, and traded with both players and faction merchants inside a simulated (and surprisingly very active) wasteland marketplace and parts auction. Oh yeah and there's faction warfare or something like that, you start out as a lowly engineer and eventually have to side with a group depending on what types of vehicles and weaponry you like, as they all have their own specialties.

Its a blast, a bit grindy starting out when you just wanna get to the building the good stuff, but its a fun grind. Keep in mind...no matter how big or well designed a higher level player's vehicle is, it will still have its share of weaknesses. Aim for their equipment, not their armor. A small and fast vehicle can easily take down an artillery slinging death machine if you're skilled enough, but watch out for that one guy piloting a suicide missile made out of a plane fusilage ,tipped with explosives, and thrusters attached at every angle; in order to launch itself high in the air and guide its downward trajectory as it plummets toward any player he chooses, hitting the boost at the last minute for a devastating impact. You can definitely shoot something like that down, but you gotta see it coming first.

This. I play that game a lot and ironically the real scam is that it doesn't actually work like a pay to win game. Just because you bought much better gear doesnt mean anything and you can usually tell almost immediately who's trying to pay to win because they suck at it and almost immediately die. See the scam is that the weapons and parts aren't actually that much better but it takes an ungodly amount of money to get them. So what happens is you can spend literally a hundred dollars in that game for some okay parts and then because you hadn't grinded your way there getting better parts along the way you'll end up with something like a hover car with homing missiles and both completely suck at driving as well as being unable to properly lock targets and score a bunch of hits on them. I fucking hate having those guys on my team because their vehicle takes up a massive chunk of our power score and a useful player slot for somebody who's even less effective than a bot and it drags down the entire team.

Just the premade vehicles you can buy are a total scam. I've seen things going for fifty dollars that have like one rare part and a couple of uncommon parts which btw those are the first tier of weapons and parts you can craft so it'd take you like literally a few days of playing to get those, and it all costs fifty dollars. For an utterly subpar piece of shit design. With barely any parts. $50. So yeah it's a fun game just don't spend any money because the scam is making it look like a pay to win when it isn't at all. On top of that it would cost you literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars to get the best parts which you're better off grinding towards.

I haven't played in a couple years, but it used to be that you could just buy a few rare parts, which was very useful as a kickstart. I built a chameleon bomb lance car that could easily take out 3 opponents in a match. Only cost me about 10 bucks to get the power and chameleon module.

game is incredibly good (but very complex), takes some time to pick up speed,
but once you get the hang of it
(like, don't waste skill-points on attributes you don't use and keep your resistances up @ 70% ! Rule of the thumb is:
Passive skill-tree should support your main-character skill and your gear should support all other skills!)
Also: Learn to craft and upgrade your gear early on!

Use active evasive skills for labyrinths (like leap strike for the Marauder!).
