And what games have you modded? I'm playing doom 3 for a second time, but this time I pimped the hell out of it. Made this comparison to show the difference between the vanilla game and my pimped out version (using the wulfen parallax texture pack).

It still looks like a shovelware shooter from 2014. And doom 3 is the worst game in the series. Too much story and too many jump scares instead of brutal demon slaying action.

Yes when it actually improves the game or brings it up to a more modern standard if it's an older game. The mod/s in your screenshot are kind of ass, because of the DOF.

I think good examples of great mods are things like adding ambient sounds to Skyrim so that villages and cities sound more lived in, the hypothermia mod so that you need to keep dry and stay warm and a mod that adds more weight to all bodies so that they die more realistically. Other acceptable more are the ones that improve quality of life things or bug fixes in general. Texture mods are kind of a hit or miss.

I've been meaning to play Doom 3 again but I just feel like I'll play it for an hour or two and then never go back to it because it just doesn't do it for me. Plus I'm enjoying the Brutal doom mod too much and I just got the v21 yesterday so I'm busy with that.

Looks good though OP and it reminds me that I'm playing Half Life 2 for the 9th time or so and I'm playing the Half-Life 2 Update version which does something with the shading and other graphical tweaks. Every time I play it it still manages to impress and blow me away at how awesome and well-paced it is and how absolutely beautiful some areas look and how excellent and satisfying the physics in it feel. Also the sound is amazing. I know I sound like a massive fan boy but I don't care. I think the game is a masterpiece for it's time and it still upholds extremely well to this day and will keep on being awesome.

As for other fantastic mods: Unreal Tournament 2004 has an amazingly fantastic mod called Mars Wars 3 which makes the game into a Red Faction version of Unreal Tournament and it is extremely well made and absolutely endlessly fun. Also for Unreal Tournament 2004 is a mod called the Ballistics Weapons mod which adds a whole bunch of really fun guns and modes to play. UT 2004 is just so awesome.

Also there is a mod for Battlefield 2 called Allied Intent Xtended which is awesome for large scale bot battles with new guns and vehicles and other good stuff.

With all these games and mods I really have trouble finding the time to install Vampire the masquerade bloodlines even though I'm the one who asked about it...

Ever since I learned how to mod games as a lad I have pretty much modded every game I've played a little bit. Usually I will just check the web for a few quality of life mods or interface tweaks or whatever but certain games I will go full bore massive mod lists and personal tweaks and all kinds of stuff.

Honestly its why I can't play Rimworld, I spend so much time modding it and playing with everything I can to try and make a perfect setup that I rarely get around to actually playing the game.

I've always had a crappy laptop so have never been able to do much with PC games, but have loved KOTOR 1 and 2 for many years and have nodded the hell out of both. I'm getting a new laptop this year and it looks like I'll be able to get something that can handle modern games on high graphics so I can't wait to start modding a bunch more games.

Any recommendations? I see lots of mods for fallout new Vegas that look cool. I'm an RPG/strategy guy (just getting into civ 3, awesome game).

Doom 3 was the best of the series. Doom 4 went the way of Dunk Nuckem, complete devolution. What little story it did have was so bad it detracted from the overall experience. I may be alone in this, but I thought the beginning was so stupid that I felt embarrassed for id.

Is it noticeable everywhere all the time, or do they only demo where it was obvious that the originally programmed resolution used was way too low for some things? To modify and improve 500 textures sounds like a lot but I've never made a video game so I don't know.

Never really understood why people have issues with setting up mods for their Bethesda game. Any guide would walk you through everything you need, check even reading the description of the mods would be enough to have a decent game running. Vortex pretty much does everything for you and some still manage to duck it up.

The issue is that you should NOT need to install fan-mods to make a $60 game playable. Bethesda are lazy but since they got paid, they are going to be lazier.

Their rep is in the shitter so I dont expect their next game to be as buggy as say FO76. Not much improvement beyond that, normies still need Voice acting to get immersed so expect Mediocre story and quests with Click R1 to win gameplay. I honestly dont care all that much, they haven't made a really good game since Morrowind and it would be silly to expect them to do it now. I just want another buggy but charming ES game, we will fix it with mods later on if we have too.

I forget the name of that one but there's a mod which adds a whole new planet which is a Droid planet. And I think there's another part with the HK factory that's in the restored content mod.

I never got the mod to skip the first two planets to work but still loved playing this game many times.

Why would anyone buy anything from Bethesda...

Bethesda only sells games broken on release that require fan fixes. If I want to buy a fixer-upper, I'll buy property. At least then, it's worth it to fix.
