Still playing Rad, this game has an awesome stylized feel to it that seems to be congruent throughout.

luna nights. the regular attack is a knife, the special attacks are knives, the crouch-slide ability is a knife. today i learned that even the double-jump is a knife.

also fuck the blue flame enemies that you can only hit by stopping time. the movement pattern is hateful, half the time they're inside floors or walls, fuck em.

The Messenger is so fucking good, this might sound a little crazy but I actually think it might be a better retro homage game than Shovel Knight

I certainly liked it more than Shovel Knight (and I really liked Shovel Knight too). That may just be because I prefer the exploration of Metroidvanias more than stage based progression though, even though The Messenger starts like that. Better OST imo too, even though they're both really great.

Also just beat Distraint.

The puzzles were bit obnoxious, but I really enjoyed the story. It's a good, simple psychological horror game that you can beat in one 90 minute sitting. If you like Lone Survivor, or Silent Hill you should check it out.

Also gradually working through DS3 a second time to see what I missed and give the classic "ketamine challenge run" a shot since #ketaminechallenge is once again at the top of the trending charts on all of the social medias lately.

Essentially it involves doing a lot of ketamine, whilst playing Dark Souls.

I just played MK X for the first time....

I think mk9 might be better. Really not liking the variations. Seems like they just chopped up the normal move sets into "stream lined" sub classes just to bloat the game's content.

I can understand insisting on adding a time mechanic to the Atelier Series. Atelier Sophie didn't have one and the game was boring, Something felt seriously missing in that game. I read the guide before i jumped into it and i knew they give you more time than you'll ever need to prepare for the exam but it still manages to stress me out. At least now il be free to create the perfect Bomb to grind my way to hundred.

Atelier Sophie is one of the chilliest and easy going games in the Atelier Series. You picked a good point to start. There is no Time management system so its a lot less intimidating to players. Some people think its pretty slow and boring and it kinda is compared to the other Atelier games, but i think it has its charming in its own way. Easy battles too but end game bosses are some of the hardest so dont hate yourself if you cant take them on.

The last hour I've just been adventuring around Siwa finishing up everything I can before bayek leaves and it's very relaxing, very comfy. Lots of sights to see lots of loot to collect
I find it really funny how when you take someone's boat that was already paddling it the prompt says "borrow" and they kind of just hang out on the boat while you go to your destination. It's crazy how big this map is, assuming you can visit all the places that are on it. I didn't look at it outside of siwa until a bit ago and it looks like there's a ton of areas. I'm really excited to see what's in each of them

Good stuff. So you started with the Atelier Sophie, which is the first of the mysterious sub-series. Atelier Sophie story continues in next games, Atelier Firis and Atelier Lydie & Suelle. You picked the right game to start with because it introduces a new crafting system that is more expanded on in the other games. If you wanted to buy other Atelier games, do the same and start with the first one of the sub-series. So like for the Arland sub-series you start with Atelier Rerona, then move on to Atelier Totori and Atelier Meruru. Each Atelier game has a relatively different crafting system, but the first game of the sub series usually introduce a new crafting system and then expands on it in the other games of the sub-series.

Atelier Sophie crafting is well balanced until end game. Just remember to focus on understanding what each Trait does to maximize the damage your bombs and equipment. Levels and quality don't really mean much, its all in the traits.

Played a few hours of Wolfenstein: Youngblood with my friend. This really had potential to be a fun co-op shooter, but they decided to make it like Destiny or The Division where enemies have HP bars and an "enemy level", where you will do drastically less damage to them if you're not the proper level. It's really a shame. I guess they were looking for a way to make the game co-op and not have it become super easy. There had to be a better way than this though

We did have fun but I have a feeling it's gonna get tedious and certain areas will be blocked off if we aren't a high enough level.

been seeing that impression a lot. co-op was a fine idea but a leveling system seems odd. why not just have areas locked off until certain campaign points are met like tons of other games? boring but it's proven and would've probs been better than leveling stuff.

i get that they're coming off two sequential shooters of the standard campaign type but new order and new colossus worked well. goofy decision, blame corporates, fuck.

Smash ultimate singleplayer is such a shitshow. It's obvious they put work into it but it's so horribly unbalanced in a variety of ways and just feels like a big waste of time and effort on my end as the player.

Smash and Splatoon 2 are the only games I've ever played where I had to resist the urge to just chuck the console across the room to quit playing, which seems bizarre to me when it's supposed to be a children's console. Maybe because switch games cost so damn much and I feel I have to get something out of it else my money was wasted. I don't think every game needs a Dark Souls / Monster Hunter difficulty level but it sure seems like that's what's popular today.

Finished my first playthrough of Big Hentai Presents Extreme Angler 2: Revelations

It was good but I'm having a hard time bringing myself to play the other routes, I think for me the open world is maybe a drawback in this case, it often felt like a slog. That and I don't think the gameplay is good enough to carry me through the bits I've already seen. And, contrary to one of the reviews I read before buying, I think the camera is fucking annoying and terrible. Still, it does a lot of genuinely cool, surprising things and ultimately managed to worm its way past my deep distaste for delicate anime battle girls who've never heard of pants, so I am hoping to go back at some point.

Particle Fleet : Emergence (it's Creeper World but with spaceships)

>campaign has 16 levels
>no penalty for death until level 16
>new enemy that can instakill from anywhere added on stage 15
>two of them on final stage
>if they ever get to attack you instantly lose

Hm. I get what the game wants me to do, to rollout fast at stage start and stop those things before they charge, but up until this stage there was no time limit for anything, even if your entire fleet wiped you could still recover but on the last stage if your flagship gets hit it's just instantly over.

Strong but with limited Ammo. Loverboy's ammo is everywhere, probably more then other weapons. I can see the difference in the higher difficulty. You tend to always go back to it during emergencies because you are less likely to waste ammo and you only have one thing to focus on. The gun is a life savior but it doesn't require your skill for it which makes dangerous moments less thrilling.
Is it me or is the game pretty long. I guess the maze like levels are starting to get to me, but the game is exhausting.

Putting waaaaayyyyy too much time into Underrail with the new expansion. I'm not sure if it's stockholm syndrome or I'm just feeling spicy, but I'm starting to think it's better than Fallout in a lot of ways, especially with all the updates. There's so much cool shit to stumble across while exploring, great atmosphere, some surprisingly good writing and quest design (although it can be pretty inconsistent there), plus it's super cheap given the sheer amount of content.

Not to say it doesn't suck at times. For example the periodic camp raids in the expansion are pretty dumb thanks to the braindead friendly AI, lack of plot-armor on important characters, and the fact that you spend most of the time waiting for like 20 NPC turns to play out. In fairness I'm not really built for protracted, stand-up fights especially when electrokinesis randomly decides to jump to an ally and turn everyone hostile... but being constantly pestered to either return to camp or trust them to handle it by themselves when you're in the middle of something is incredibly lame

I'm waiting for my new job to start and staying with my parents until then.
The only thing my laptop can play is either Rimworld or Caves of Qud, both of which I've kind of burned myself out on.

Currently playing the most boring game of Rimworld ever, nothing has happened, everything pretty stable, just feels like a dull chore now telling my colonists to do shit now.

Caves of Qud clearly has something going for it but I've barely ever been able to complete any quests or get much further than level 3, I roll a new character, have loads of fun with it for 20 minutes, get killed VERY suddenly and then i can't really be bothered to start from the beginning and do it all again. I know that permadeath roguelikes have that as their entire thing, but I do kinda wish I could just roll back a couple of turns and survive every now and then.

Fuck me I can't wait until I can play EU IV again...That's the dream, as soon as this is all dealt with I'm gonna buy an actual gaming PC and binge that shit.

Decided to keep my Oblivion save. Threw a bunch of apples everywhere and hoped for the best.

I can't seem to survive beyond level 20 using only hand to hand skills without relying on Skooma and Wine to buff my stats. Fighting Minotour lords is a blast since they also use hand to hand but everyone else seem to always have the upper hand. getting especially harder now since they're always knocking me down. Bought a house in Bravil so il have access to Skooma and I also murdered and stole all the Skooma from the Skooma Den.

Kinda of running out of steam. This is my second playthrough this year making it around four hundred hours. Getting tired and I officially feel like I experienced everything Oblivion has to offer. Revisiting It in five years is going to be swell.

Holy shit we've all been sleeping on this for 25 years

If the last year's drip feed of crap has shown us anything it's that Nes games have not aged well and don't hold up, but personally I'd say these snes games are mostly the pinnacle of their genres and 2d gaming in general, we havnt surpassed them we've just gone in different directions

Heads up for you switchbros
Just found out on leddit you can get a year free of switch online if you have amazon prime, just type in twitch on amazon, go to the twitch prime page and scroll down to the NSO thing
You get 3 months free initially and then after 60 days can claim another 9
It also defaults to auto renewal so remember to delete your credit card from the system after you sign up so they dont jew you out of another couple months

After having played if for a while it's actually pretty fun. I think it's well made and deserves to be in the $30-40 dollar tier of games. It's not a re-release or a remake and doesn't do any rehashing, it's solidly its' own game. I wish more devs aimed for this price point instead of shoehorning in online and DLC then charging $60.

As far as the new River City games go I like this one the best, it's better than Underground and the DS one's I've played IMO, and I really liked RC Underground. It doesn't feel like the leveling is broken and you can't just grind and button mash, there is some skill involved. This one feels more like the original and less like an action RPG. The English dub isn't bad either, but I'm the kind of mcdonalds eating commoner that watches dubbed anime.

Fallout 4 of all things. I hated it when it came out, now I'm finding it a great source of relaxation and/or tension, with a pile of mods. In particular Sim Settlements, some survival mode QoL, but a bunch of others too. Upped the damage giving and receiving to like 4x which mitigates bullet sponging a little, while still keeping things dangerous.

It's pretty alright. It would still be better if the base game wasn't just a FPS with a quick nod at RPGs.

Any y'all playing Arkham Knight? This is actually my first game in the series i only played the demo for arkham asylum back in the 360 days. I'm liking it but these controls feel like they were mapped my a fucking madman. L1 to enter bat mobile? Hold x to glide? Right d pad to access missions??? what the fuck. The game also relies on the batmobile so goddamn much what's up with that. But the missions are fun the riddler stuff is even more fun and I always love a game that gives a relatively smaller map compared to other open world games but then packs them with detail, secrets, and stuff to do. It also fits really well in a game like this because you start to know the streets you're playing on
I might pick up the other two after this but it looks like they only come in a collection with the third one so I'd be sitting on a double

Gotta couple questions for you fags.

First, how hard is Baba is You? I'm interested in the game and looking for a good puzzler but I keep hearing it be compared to The Witness, which I had huge problems with, I didn't even finish it because it fucked my head so hard to the point of anger..I could have used guides sure but that takes all the fun out of puzzle games and makes them pointless. I just don't want to spend money on a game I have no chance of finishing, but the way puzzles work in baba seems completely different than the witness

Second, I'm either gonna buy N++ or Slime-san, and in definitely going to get both but I don't want to be playing two platforming games at the same time so I'll buy the other when I finish the first, but which first? As you can see I'm an indecisive little cunt

>>742715
Completely different kind of puzzles yeah.
Though they do really get hard though. I enjoy The Witness, it takes a while for some later stuff to get to you, but there's always another thing that starts to make sense each session.
Baba is You is kinda more, I hit a wall in each world after finishing the easier maps/puzzles where my brain just doesn't carry me anymore, and even after several sessions attempts the cogs still don't move anywhere. I'm still keeping up bashing my head against it though, in the hope for that sweet sweet release.

So yeah, chances are you'll get frustrated at Baba too.

So far Gun Gun Pixies is very cute, but the controls are a little clunky and the gameplay has been fairly repetitive. I'll have to keep playing. I'd like a little more challenge and action, which I'm hoping is on the way.

I'm no stranger to puzzle games and usually enjoy the hard ones that take a while to click but for some reason the witness got to me, there was something about it that made got me so heated like I never experienced before which is why the comparison worried me
I'm pretty sure it was those specific kind of grid puzzles that got to me, because I really enjoyed the ones that involved the environment. I remember there was one where you had to figure out that the path on the grid was outlined by the shadow cast by a nearby tree and that was cool as hell

Depends on your definition of fun I guess, it kinda feels like hitting a brick wall. But I enjoy a bit of struggle, and I just know how much of a logic-brain-orgasm it'll be if I finally break through pour my load right down in that end-exit, so yeah. I'd say these are closer to the just-logic-intuition rather than environment-based ones though.
I mean I really recommend the game, it's a unique puzzler. But don't underestimate how hard the later levels will be.

Greedfall...

First time playing a Spiders game. Despite the jank it's cool in a lot of ways, especially given the obviously limited budget, but the quest design and characters can feel pretty soulless at times. Feels like they could've cut out a lot of pointless running back and forth on the side content, at the very least.

Also gave the Anomaly standalone STALKER mod a shot. Combines a ton of new stuff with some of my favorite things from other mods, but everyone seems to randomly turn hostile when I load a save and I can't be bothered to figure out what's wrong, so I'll probably just come back to it another time.

See that's the thing though, it's not. It's not the same cod, there is a lot of thought put into the map and the positions you get to take. If I'd say it's a lot more like COD4 with Rainbow Siege thrown in the mix. Instead of it being super close quarters like siege, its spread out but not frantic. You dont have run around the map like a Jack ass, you get different playstyle each with it's own advantage. It doesn't have a lot of depth, but it's seriously fun once you get into it.

Open beta. What are you going to lose?

You can't make this shit up, also it's still the same game you dipshit. It's still a shitty arcade shooter that tries to add "tactical" elements from other more complex games and ends up being a really shitty version of both. And ironically the best way to play the game is still to run at full speed firing from the hip ranking up killstreaks untill you become literally unkillable, it's the same exact shit as the older ones "Y-y-yeah but in the maps you can OPEN doors now!" oh wow and it doesn't change the gameplay from being stale, uninspired and depth less from the other ones. Why is it so easy to sink hours and hours into MMOs?

I played Mabinogi for nearly 20 hours in the past 2 days. Just doing random quests or hanging out with friends I met. In comparison, I beat The Forest recently which took about 20 hours and felt like an eternity spread out over a month.

I guess it's mostly the social aspect. A lot of time can pass by when you're drinking with some good conversation no matter where it happens.

You ever play a game for so long, your body feels weak afterwards?

I dont think the human body was designed for 12 hours of straight gaming. I feel like I got the flu, and just the worst headache. I'd lie on my bed and it feels like I'm still focused on something even if the lights are off. If you manage to fall asleep you'll dream about the game too.
I used to experience that a lot when I was a kid, only cause without my parents knowing I'd wake up at 2am, turn on my MSX and spend hours gaming till the sunrise. I hope il never lose my love for video games.

One game I always go back to everytime I have the flu is Donkey Kong Country 2. It's just a tradition for me. Whenever I get sick, i just know it's time to save Donkey Kong from King K rool.

Reviews for the new Yooka Laylee game are out and, surprisingly, it seems to be a good game. A lot of comparisons to DK tropical freeze which I think is pretty high praise. I've always been more of a 2D platformer guy anyways so I'm going to pick it up when I get the chance. Maybe this is what they should have done all along.

They forget those things is the problem. So when the new game has those in it, they think it's not nearly as good. They remember things like the picture and go "What a great zany game XD so random" and forget it was pretty empty too. We just jad lower expectations back then.

I'm experimenting a bit, trying to see if FFXIV is worth recommending as a single player game. With the new trust system that will probably be expanded on with every update, its worth seeing if it can be. So far so good, im playing through game regularly and reading through all the quests. My only issue is, i picked one of the new servers that give 100% percent more exp so im a little over leveled, but that isnt too bad except for it making the game a tad boring. Overall, i really do enjoy the game as a single player experience with a little co op on the side. Il post my playtime once i get to the end of ShadowBringers.

I never really paid any attention to Papalymo until now. He's such a good person, its easy to take him for granted. Hes been there for the Warrior of light and his friends more than anyone.

The endless mode after the story mode is a total crapshoot though. They're touting it as the main mode but Adventure was short and sweet whereas endless is full of stage modifiers that are completely negative, like flat increases on enemy damage or health with no counterbalance like bigger hitboxes or slower movement.

Storm mode is more interesting, it gives much larger maps in a sort of battle royale setting and you can get shit like a minigun that shoots shotgun rounds alongside the minigun rounds

For a free title it's pretty good, definitely worth a play if you're into twin stick stuff at all.

I think its cause I get lost very easily and it becomes increasingly difficult because your resources are limited. I had the same issue after I walked out of the cave, once Arc left Ur town, I kept getting lost looking for him and since I'm alone i get murdered by the mobs outside. Strangest thing is, if you try to enter the town arc is in from the top, it only shows you Luneth event where he just runs away from a ghost, but if you enter it from the bottom, you'll get to see Arc.

Tried out Aeon of Sands.
Kinda like a more retro Grimrock I guess? I mean I know grimrock is inspired by older games in the style, but I never played those so. Only checked this out cause apparently it's made in LÖVE and I was curious to see a working 2.5D implementation in a totes 2D engine.
I do like that you only start with one char, easier to get into it when you don't have to juggle 4 simultaneouslyfrom the get-go. Also fast-buttons for combat is nice. Not having to mouseclick except for inventory stuff.
But the bad...
You can really tell that it's made by an amateur, cause before the game even begins you have to read through a spiel about how you should read stuff etc. Trying to make you pay attention to the writing cause "I spent more than a year writing this". I mean sure it's kinda true, but it's just unprofessional to make the player read a cringy rant before playing. I wouldn't have been so bothered if it wasn't in such a cloying tone.
The screen estate usage is pretty weird. Tiny tiny window for the actual gameplay. Could've been improved loads by just removing the mouse-movement-arrows (doubt anybody would use them over just WASD) and moving some other things around.
Third but last, loading time is super long. This is 2.5D retro shit, pixel stuff. But it takes longer to load than a Doom 2016 level (my computer isn't the best (4gb of RAM etc level) so they took a small wait).

Got Monster Hunter World free with my GPU including the expansion.

Realised the "recommended" gear was OP and I'd never learn to get good before too long thankfully. There is so much to learn and do in this game. It's pretty, I'm shit but I'm cautious enough that I can compensate so far. Still not far into the game so this may change or maybe I can continue to kill bosses in mediocre times through caution and equipment and play as a debuffer when I'm with friends.

This is a great quarantine game. So many tiny incremental things to do. I've been playing it myself and it's been a godsend.

Yeah, that recommended equipment is fucking GAY. You can go 50 hours into the game and the "recommended" equipment is still better. It's basically for little kids out something.

I recommend playing with many different weapons at the start (much easier to do then, because nothing needs upgrading to be useful). Find one you like the style of. I'm rolling the charge blade and insect glaive. Both have complex mechanics so they're fun to continue to try and master. Also, if one doesn't work so well usually the other will.

I'm currently using the "slay *SMALL MONSTER*" investigations for when I dont' need a massive expedition but wish to stock up might as well get some zenny. I've just been called back to the ancient forest to work up to the t everything punching monster.

I have done so much passive research I'm hoping when the time comes that I'll already have the weaknesses. The gear available is still limited but elemental offensive sets are an option. Dunno when I'll get my third piece of poison resist so I can lol at pukei pukei. While I favour sword + shield and LBG (they're both mobile) I think eventually I'm going to want all the useful sets for all weapons.

Got a Barroth to flee and it ran to the big lake, I tried to fight it there but struggle to hit it and then get out the way, fainted (first faint so far) then ran in and tried the same thing and it just stunned me, blighted me and then ran a train on me and that was another faint. Then I realised I could just hit it and run to the shore/shallows and fight it on my own terms. Anyway a few solid thracks and it just died. So close all along. The fucker. When you chase a monster to it's lair and it rests you can just wake it then kite it back out. I didn't mind the Pukei's lair because it's full of vigorwasps and the right space made wyvern mines work well.

The game is more than twenty years old, but anyone who played it on release will have conflicted feelings about this remake. It feels like a cashgrab because it kinda is compared to the original.

I'm doing an Ironman Run With Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. I dont know why, but I find myself in the mood for something like this.

So far so good. Its really annoying how the military spots you from far away, opens fire, and chase you across the map. They also request a chopper and it just hovers around until you leave the map. I shouldn't expect too much from this mod, even though its great, but a lot of the time you're just walking around doing nothing at all. I thought the Perma Death would make this exciting, and it was the first couple of quests, but now i find myself daring to engage multiple enemies just to add some excitement.

Fortune Street

Pretty much just playing for the flavor text

Computer sort of blatantly cheats depending on difficulty via rolls of the die, a higher level AI will have people land on their spaces more often and not land on other's expensive spaces, a low level AI will land on other's spaces all the time and rarely have anyone land on theirs.

There is an awful lot of flavor text though which gives it more character than you might expect.

You're right that it's a Call of Chernobyl mechanic when bandits "sneak up on you". If you stand near an exit point to a map area, bandits sometimes walk through the map on those entrances. It can seem like they snuck up on you.

A lot of the things you mentioned has mods to fix them. not sure if they will appeal to you. I personally don't mind it so much. I only use the Increased bullet damage cause that stuff barely does any in Vanilla. I also added a lot more guns, outfits. 50 more Artifacts and increased their value so I would have a good reason to go looking for them. Just small tweaks to make the game more fun.

I didn't really mind dying honestly. Ironmode appeals to me a lot cause im the dude who wastes a long time creating a character, only to play them for five minutes then decide to create another one. Ironmode keeps me playing cause a part of me wishes I would die so i can go and make another one. Gotta make sure I take the right medication next time is all.

Thinking about all the people who died for real cause they did the same thing I did in real life is a little sad.

So I had a small replay sesh of Diablo 1, comfy stuff.
Well it WAS.
Until I got down to level 8 and half the enemies are the fucking Night Clan goat archers, fucking hordes upon hordes of goat archers that run away as soon as I get close and I can only get them once I chased them into a corner and get in some slashes.
Only this takes fucking ages if there's huge groups of them at the same time, so many I'm almost too stunlocked too take down the ones I do get into a corner so they stop running.

No damn idea how I got around this last time around, don't have the patience to spend hours chasing down goatmen just to finish the game another time.

Shit is objectively not finished as a game, seen placeholder text half a dozen times, but the mechanics themselves are huge improvement over Warband. Combat is viscerally responsive and intuitive in a way that surpasses even Chivalry in that regard, but with far more consistency and complexity.

Well, I've only been play Trails of Cold Steel for about three hours but I can tell it's going to be a good game. My only issue is, I can somewhat understand Japanese thanks to decades of listening to it and I can tell they've taken quite a few liberties with the Script. The actual translation is sometimes no where near what the character is actually saying. Especially Machias, they turned him into a bit of an asshole when he's really just a hothead.

They're really good games. I played with the english dub, and it wasnt bad. I like how every single npc is named and has something different to say almost every day. That being said theres optional AND hidden quests that are very easy to miss if you dont talk to everybody. And the hidden quests add to your rank, so if you're trying to %100 the game either beat it twice(theres a good new game +) or use a quest guide. And yea I hated Machias at first, same with Jusis. Same with the minor npc Patrick. But they get better. Also Towas best girl. Im really not trying to spoil anything either, but Rean might be one of my favorite jrpg protaganists.

Definitely only playing Fortune Street for the flavor text.

I like how every NPC has different personality ranging from apologetic to dickhead even though they're all filthy capitalists trying to maximize their own profits by whatever means necessary ( though they show mercy/stupidity depending on difficulty )

Ehhhh. I dont know. I dont even know why im playing it. I guess i just feel compelled to finish a series after i start. I'm genuinely amazed that someone is capable of making and selling the same game over and over again.

Ok im just gonna focus on the things i like.

Space dog fight. Great fun until i found out i can fucking strafe in space so that quickly went out of the window.

The intro gave me a headache. I actually had to take a break, restart the game on Pansy difficulty cause all the screen shaking made me wana vomit. Every character is fucking intense. Hurrah and all that garbage. Pure unadulterated propaganda. It makes me sick.
Game is trying so hard to make you like robo-kun and there is really nothing to like about him. He's just as much as a copy paste version of all the soldiers except everyone hates him cause hes a bot. Its retarded.

That's it. That's honestly all l like about it. I'm gonna try to finish this shit and delete it. Obviously i pirated but im not keeping it.

It took 4 attempts but I beat the water boss in Metroid Prime 2 by backtracking to the save point halfway through the puzzle for a recharge and basically trading blows with the boss since you only get a fraction of a second to dodge while still hitting the weak point each cycle

Then I got to fight the grapple guardian which was the same thing but now the weak point is on his back and you can't lock on to it so 7/10 shots just bounce off the armor next to the weak point and you have to do the cycle for him to reveal the weak point again

Had to take a break after that

Three days of intense fighting to get the SEVA suit and the sniper rifle and die of a single misstep into a biochemical cess pool. Manage to fund an exoskeleton Armor and murder all the soldiers in a military base only to die by a mine on my way out.
I can never go back to the Vanilla experience. It's fair, man. That's the truth. The Zone kills all who underestimate it. Every single death I suffered I absolutely deserved. I have to take a break cause I know if I jump back now I'm just gonna die again.

>Trails of cold boredom

It's slow. It's wayyy too slow. The book I'm reading on the side is more eventful than this game. I get it, it's just the start but heck I'm seven hours in this game and I've only fought around 30 battles. That's way too low. I wish there is a place somewhere I get to grind for hours just so I get accustomed to the Battle system.

Also if I'm going to try to ambush enemies everytime I want to engage them, the least they could do is set the camera angle where I can measure the distance between the character and the monster. Having the character placed smacked down in the middle of the screen only will make it hard for me to do it. Guess I'm gonna have to get used to it, but I could've done with out it.

Fair. The game doesnt get really interesting till around chapter 3. And it mostly follows the same formula. School, maybe a mock battle, schoolhouse mystery, field exam. Grinding is also not really neccesary in this game. Theres not that many battles compared to persona. And after 7 hours you're probably still in the prologue. Its a real slow burn. I wouldnt blame you if you dropped it. The whole first game can be considered a prologue. The battles and the pacing really pick up in the second game, I havent played the 3rd one yet and the 4th one should be released at the end of this year
As for the camera issue ive never had a problem. If I really wanted to ambush an enemy id use a character with longer range, like Gaius,Alisa, or Machias.

I dont know, I've only been playing it for ten hours. Might sound like s lot but for a Jrpg it really isn't.
But as far as cliche goes, the protagonist falls on top of a girl and touches her boobs and gets slapped for it in the first hour of the game. You Also get the lolibait student council president, tough but secretly cute knighlady, the supa serious Fujo bait with glasses and the rich noble scowlingman who might be mean but also fair who's always at odds with the glasses fujobait to really get those fujojuices running.

They certainly are cliche, and its hard to talk about them without spoiling anything, but id say they dont stay cliche. They're not persona grade characters that have alot of development, thats for sure though.

Alot of people compare the game to persona, it is but its not. It just has a light social link system, and light calender system; but most of the days are skipped. So chapters end up being like 6 days total. And theres only 5 chapters. But alot happens in one day.

I'm playing the PC version and it has a Turbo button. There is more to these characters than what meets the eyes, and if I cant imagine how much they will grow in four games. Usually, s franchise would move on to another set of characters with the same setting but this one kept it up. In a little curious to how they did it and what the last one is like.

Seems decently fun, although it's got some issues with the abilities doing way too much damage in some cases (Raze is the biggest offender so far), maps feeling bland but overloaded with corners and nooks, and the biggest gripe for me being that the shotguns are rather shitty (I just love shotgun gameplay). Also, buying shields feels unnecessary and tacked on af.

Chapter 3. I'm way too overpowered for anything, I'm cruising through the game. My gripe is, I dislike how the gameplay is trickled down to me with each chapter. I wish they would just open up the entire Old school dungeon so I get to grind for hours.
It's not the only game guilty of this, Persona did this a lot with p3, 4, and 5. On paper, there is a lot of similarities between it and Persona, but the game itself nothing but that. It's easy to see how people who played neither or only one of each franchise to come to that conclusion but they really dont belong in the same category.

The combat is a lot of fun but I cant sink my teeth into it just yet, I gotta go through hours of story telling to get to it. A lot of Jrpgs are guilty of this but Trails take it a step further, almost micromanaging the experience. I can't imagine how my game would look any different from everybody else if it wasnt for all the grinding.

Anyways, I do like how everything is accounted for. If someone gave you something, you can probably speak to a number of the townspeople and figure out where this person has got it from. Everything is connected, and that in turn makes you more invested in everything being said and done.
I am hoping the little kid will find it in himself to realize his feelings for the little tomboy that works the shop and finally stop pulling her hair every chance he gets. Maybe at some point in the coming chapters il do a quest for one of them. I'm enjoying that part of the game. It's an interesting way of telling a story. Events dont just wait for you to initiate them like in Persona, they got a life of their own and it's up to you to be there for them.

As you can't capture elder dragons I just did the old "cover his face in bombs while he sleeps trick" once he limped off to recuperate.

I like Metroid Prime 2 because it's more Metroid Prime and it's very visually appealing

I hate Metroid Prime 2 because there's so much fucking backtracking and it takes like 30+ minutes of random wandering before you get the guidance hint of where you're supposed to actually go to progress

Plus hard mode just gives enemies more health, wish I had known that before I chose it because it just makes bosses and tougher trash mobs a frustrating slog

What I will bash is a full grown man not having a decent paying job/not having a job at all; and complaining about it. I know its wrong to give brazilfag attention, but this nigga needs to grow up. Being poor has nothing to do with it.

And you probably think the "struggle" is that you have to eat noodles. You've never experienced being "poor". Nuff said.

>Final Fantasy VII: Remake

Just finished the game on hard mode. The game is better on this difficulty setting. Managing your MP bar pretty much forces you to play the game the way it's intended, and not button mash your way through it.

I don't have it in me to play through the Shinra Combat Simulator since the gameplay can be downright frustrating at times. The party AI is braindead fucking retarded. All this game needs is a gambit system similar to FFXII, and it would be fine. I pray the next disc addresses this problem, as well as side quests and padding issues.

I also just wanted to say that the final boss really felt reminiscent of the fight in Advent Children, but in the best way possible. Don't get me wrong, it's a horrible movie as an adult, but I loved it when I was a kid.

I bought DD for switch the other day and the very next morning I woke up to see it was on sale for PS4, which irked me until I tried it in handheld. For a game of this scale they did some impressive work to get it to run this well, feels really great in handheld and that alone makes me happier to have it on my switch than my PS4. There's pop in and a frame drop every now and then but it runs well for the most part and I'd even say looks really good at points.
The game is very fun too, I've never played it. Like Skyrim and monster Hunter and the Witcher in one game. The combat is still throwing me off because I'm a souls player and there's no roll button but I'll get used to it.

Shoujo manga has no bearing in real life. It's just comics. If you think reading Romance manga or watching Romantic movies make you a better lover, you've still got a lot to learn. It's actually funny that you would think that, how old are you again?

Anyways, I'm still really dissapointed by the fact that exp is scaled in Trails of Cold steel. It's like they're punishing you for playing their game excessively, and after slamming all that time grinding I finally noticed. It's really pissing me off. The real reason why i play Rpg is to grind. I just like trying to figure out a combat system for hours, and I'm being punished for it. Who the fuck thought this was a good idea.

Im 26, I had my last gf about a year ago. I broke up with her for a multitude of reasons that I dont mind talking about, but it would take forever. The only reason I brought up shoujo with you is because it seemed to me, that you dont have much experience with women at all. My bad. I wasnt really trying to offend. I dont really care if you try and put me down though, go right ahead.

Yeah and I thought I already told you grinding in Trails of Cold Steel is pointless, unless youre really close to leveling up a link with someone or you need money. The combat isnt that difficult in the first place, theres not much to figure out. What chapter are you on now?

I should reiterate again that the whole 1st Trails of Cold Steel can be considered a prologue, theres 3 other games after it, and each one introduces new characters, and characters from trails in the sky/zero. If you play rpgs to grind, well thats kinda weird dont you think?

That's precisely why I hated Destiny. You're never getting more powerful, you're just getting as powerful as the next set of enemies. And by the point you are more powerful, there's no point to going back to replay the stuff for fun.

Warframe feels like progress. You feel like a new guy using dual machine pistols and an excalibur. And then you start building up a locker of frames and weapons and you feel powerful. Then you realize there are challenges to test you still.

I think I'm the chapter before the Final one. I dont know, it feels like the story is the main attraction here rather than the game. and that's fine, but it's not the reason why I play video games. The story is really slow for one part, its interesting dont get me wrong, but It takes its sweet ass time. There are parts of the story I'm sure I wont figure out till I'm in the third game or something, and that's a bit daunting especially since there iant a good battle system to go with it. I thought I finally found a turn based battle system that resembles the Neptunia games but was actually competent and good, but it's just as shallow as the Neptunia games. It's sad cause I can see there is a lot of potential in there but it kinda falls short for me. And it doesnt motivate me to play the other games either since the level scaling is also applied there.

What's so weird about wanting to be overpowered in an RPG game? I think the scaling aspect of the game is actually the weird part. Clearly, there are players who enjoy leveling up their characters and doing massive damage, why would you limit that if they choose to go about it that way. If they wanted the bosses to still be a challenge even if the characters were overpowered, there are other methods of doing it. Maybe make the combat success rate highly reliant on the positioning of the characters on the battlefield or something. Strategy would be a necessary part of the game, not just trying to unbalance the enemies over and over again and watching animtion on repeat. That shit is Persona territory and they did it a lot better that ToCS, they also had s lot of mini games and characters to get to know on the side.

I dont know, I doubt il pick up the next game unless something totally major happens in the end. I want to though, I've come to love all the character in the game, especially Fie but if its just more of the same combat than il probably go play something a bit more engaging. Maybe il try another Tales game.

Fair. The 2nd one does pick up right after the first one though. And for me personally, I usually enjoy the story for rpgs more than the combat.

When I was like 9, I was playing ff7 and got so pissed at Ruby weapon(Ruby Weapon has an attack that deals damage based on how much materia you have equiped, I was dumb with no internet so I had no idea) I leveled up Cloud until he was lvl 99. Still couldn't beat Ruby, so I went fought Sephiroth and it was so easy, that the battle was anticlimactic for me. That whole experience basically turned me off of grinding in general, especially when its not neccesary like in SMT.

If you haven't played Tales of Vesperia, id recommend that. Graces is aight, Symphonia is good, but you'll have to get used to the small chibi models and lack of moves. Abyss is good but the MC is an annoying prick. Or go with the very first couple games with Phantasia and Destiny. I hated Zestiria and Xilia has awful characters, but I think you've mentioned before that you played those.

On another note a new Sakura Wars comes out tomorrow, ive never played any of the games or watched the anime but I always thought they looked interesting. I cant decide between that or ff7 remake

It's not like im going to fully abandon the series, there is still a lot of things i liked about it. The story and the characters are really good, and a lot of the things that i look for in a JRPG are in the game but I'm still looking for a good game, not a good Anime, you know.

I think a lot of people had a similar experience like yours. My cousin tried FFX for the first time and he enjoyed the game a lot, but Yuu Yoven or whatever you wana call was a real disappointment. Even if you didnt grind at all, the final boss in that game was really disappointing. Its not like FFX doesn't have its share of tough optional bosses but nothing part of the actual story. Thats one of the serious Issues I have with modern JRPGs today. There is the story, and there is all this side content, the actual fun part of the game, all kept on the side neatly to enjoy should you wish it. I'd rather it becoming actually part of the game. I mean, I shouldnt expect anyone to fight off Penance just to finish the game, but all the bosses of FFX were a cake walk and the story took center stage. If you're spending more time watching cutscenes than actually playing the game, You're doing something wrong. Which is the case With Trails of Cold Steel.

Tales games might not be the right game for me right now. I've been hearing a lot of alright things about Blue Reflection and i think im gonna pick it up. Although, im not really sure why people hated Zestiria and Xilia, I dont find them all the different from other tales games I played except Berseria. Tales of Graces was my least favorite of the ones i tried.

It seems like the Remake of Sakura Wars is a faithful adaptation of the original game. You can pick up FF7 Remake, but the scenes i watched especially Jesse's death Made me cringe pretty fucking hard. Im not a fan of Kingdom Hearts but if that type of shit you're into, then maybe you can enjoy it.

diving back into DCSS for the first time since 0.19, surprisingly I didn't have much trouble until I was shafted from L:1 to L:6 somehow, I didn't think you could fall that far, cleared the whole thing and went back up but I ended up blowing most of my consumables

now i'm at an impasse because I have shit MR and not only did I get Shoals instead of Swamp, Jorgrun spawned in 13 and the layout is one of those ones where all the stairs from 12 lead to the same place, so I'm pretty much fucked. Every time I dip down there he knocks half my health off and binds me so I'm really not feeling trying to take him. I think my best option would be to stair dance stuff up from the Orcish Mines and see if I can't find something with MR

just enough has changed that I can still go with muscle memory but there are a bunch of new mechanics I don't quite understand and ones I'm used to that are gone, seems in general like a solid improvement, way less inventory management minigame that I hated anyway and other things I see as only improvements. Seems like they're keeping up the minimalist mechanics and streamlined playing that set DCSS apart from games like NetHack in the first place. Always preferred that about DCSS, it plays much more like a strategy game or a series of puzzles than a hack and slash grind fest.

Yea the Trails series is basically an anime. I mean you can get your shit rekt, but thats if you don't know how to play jrpgs.

Fuck I love ffx, and I have the hd version. But I still havent gotten around to beating it. And I dont think ill ever dodge that lightning 200 times. And ive seen videos of Penance, shit looks ridiculous to fight. Did you ever beat that very first match of Blitzball in Luca? My brother somehow won it. Blitzball just confuses me. But the whole watching more cutscenes than playing the game thing, Persona kinda does the same thing.

Maybe try Star Ocean if you haven't, the 1st and 3rd one are on PS4. While I loved the 3rd one as a kid, the story is just anime bullshit but I enjoyed the combat. And the bonus gauge can be really frustrating, but if you like to grind then thats the game for you. Star Ocean 4 wasnt bad but it wasnt good either, I wouldnt reccomend it. Star Ocean 5 is straight trash, dont even bother.

The new Sakura Wars has Dynasty Warriors like combat, while the original was a tactical rpg. And the new one is set like 12 years after the originals. The new Sakura was save by the old Sakura as a kid or some shit. But it looks great. I did hear it takes more than an hour to get to the first fight, which may be a turnoff for some but it dont bother me.

I was so close to buying blue reflection until I found out it was just about magical girls, and I dont give a shit about magical girls or their friendship. You'll probably like it though.

I think ima wait on ff7 remake. It'll probably drop in price soon or there'll be a sale. I did watch dunkeys video, and I mean you cant take any of his videos seriously so I dont why people are getting turned off of the game because of him. But what you said about it being like Kingdom Hearts did turn me off of it. I love Kingdom Hearts, but for the gameplay not the story. If they made the story in ff7 remake as goofy as KH I think I can wait a little while.

Nah, Blue Reflection isn't for you. Its definitely for people like me, who watched every Season of PrettyCure and an avid fan of Magical Transformtion girls Go Princess Pretty Cure is the best one

FF7remake isn't going to drop its price, not at the height of its popularity. You better just caugh up the price now and enjoy it. But when I compare it to Kingdom Hearts, I dont mean it literally. I guess the only similarities is you just jumping around, rolling away, and mash the attack button while occassionally opening up a menu for some magic or an item. Gone is the classic turn based combat, in comes the brain dead Kingdomhearts gameplay and its fans, for better or worse. As far as the changes to the story, it gets dumb and cringey but you got built up tolerance for dumb and stupid shit. After all, you did finish Tales of Graces.
I dont like it, but after FFXV I'd seriously take anything. FFXV was a real abomination. Knew of those games that are so horrid, so grotesque, it gets it's own cult following.

Hexer is a solid way to play, but with DS2 I don't limit my build. I'll just place my soul sign down in front of a boss arena and kill the boss for people until I have enough souls to go for both melee and hexer. That way I have access to every play style in the game because I can equip miracles, utility spells, and damage hexes as well as my bigass sword. Invaders get wrecked by hidden body and force, and they never expected it from the guy in heavy armor, wielding a zweihander.

I'm sorry, but what?
Im not pissed or anything. I'm not sure what gave you that impression.

But listen, seriously, you're going to be waiting at least six months before FF7remake go down in price. Square games go for real cheap after release but they wont go on sale this early. You can always just pay the price now, or wait for the PC release when it's out which is what I'm doing. FFXV PC release was actually decent after a couple of big fixing patches, and it looked way better than the console Counterpart. I watched it from beginning to end but I I haven't played it, still waiting for that PC version and the mods to fix Tifa's boobs

Humph, you think you can bait me into playing KH but Il never touch that shit. The last thing I would ever want is to swim in Nomura's piss delusions. Il get enough of it with FF7Re to last me the rest of the year.

Anyways Streets of Rage Four turned out a lot better than I expected. I only I wish I had some friends to play it with.

Yeah I've had enough of this, I'm watching a video of the ending instead because this is not fun. I feel like I'm fighting the controls and game mechanics more than the enemies themselves.

Starting MP3 now, the tutorial gives me a giggle because it's all this pointless wiimote wankery to show off that you have motion controls now, like the keypad you have to manually press each button on that demands a password you get from the wall across from the keypad. I hope the whole game isn't full of stuff like this cause this is a little silly.

>Medival

Played it for a change of pace. Didnt take me much to finish it compared to everything else I played recently. Some sections had difficult spikes like the mausoleum which threw like 50 zombies at you, each one doing 75 damage if they as much as touch you, and they stick to you unless you fight them back. You get fucked really fast if you're not careful. After that, it's a cakewalk.
Enchanted earth is my favorite level. First because it looked way better than the other ones. Had range of different monsters to fight, and a lot of fun characters to talk to.

Characters is the real reason why anyone should play Medival. Everything else is mediocre, leaning a bit to bad. But the characters have a Tim Burton Charm to them that I find appealing. A bit nostalgic as well, I used to Enjoy Tim Burton movies a lot and it makes me wana watch Corpse Bride again.

Over all it's a 6.5/10 kind of game. I can see some people really enjoying, but I dont think it will appeal too much to the masses. I think the sales kinda reflect that as well. Maybe il try the Medival 2 at some point in the future but for now I think il move on to something different.

Hearing about those leaks made me glad I completely lost interest when they announced no multiplayer. I didn't think the story deserved to be put on a pedestal like a lot of people do in the first place, it was good but nothing all that spectacular. This situation they're creating with the sequel is actually really really interesting and could work if it weren't a sequel to a game with die hard fans, I just think if you knew your audience you'd know they would throw a shit fit and either everyone at ND lacked any kind of foresight or they cared more about delivering a message than pleasing fans. It's a bad decision from a business stand point. Might turn out good, might not, probably won't buy it either way tbqhwyf.

Yeah, I agree with you. I believe the gameplay will live up to the hype, but I'm definitely lowering my expectations for the story. I don't refer to others as "social justice warriors" but I sort of draw the line when things feel forced. Like you said, it might be good or it might not.

Visually, its a really beautiful game. The combat system has a lot of interesting things going for it, but I think the game is a little too easy to fully flesh out all those mechanics. Its still great to see a game headed by Mel Kishida. His work with the Arland Trilogy was fantastic.

I heard the game release on the PC and PS4 was full of issues. Even after getting the game off Steam, it still had some problems i had to mod out of the way. It's strange for GUST to rush out a game like this.

My Time in Portia is really fun, i've never played this sort of game before, there was never really enough content in animal crossing to keep me interested, but this is cool

the only thing i don't like so far is how limited dialogue options seem, would be nice to ask people where things are or really have any options at all without a random quest having been triggered, i guess that's part of the genre though

is it like animal crossing where things happen while you're away?

Yeah, I don t usually talk about the Visual Novels that I play but Making*Lovers have been a really great experience. Its Riot, a roller coaster of Drama, romance, Comedy and great sex scenes. All the girls are great, and the game doesn't punish you severely for picking a choice over the other.

It's a little refreshing in its approach, the protagonist main goal is to actually date girls and try to explore the meaning of Love in his relationship with the women he meets. Some he met by chance, while others have been in his life for quite sometime and he begin to gets to know a new side of them. They're all well written, and i know a lot of people share that experience with me with all the high rating in VNDB. Its a great Visual Novel for those interested in VN.

My favorite part about Visual Novels in general is usually the male Friend of the protogonist. The one in this Visual Novel is extra special. He's Hilarious and isnt just the butt of the jokes. It's always nice to have a Bro in Visual Novels. I wish they would have their own "Manly Friendship" Routes in Visual Novels like the one we got in Katawa Shoujo, but sadly i havent came across any in my time playing VNs.

Making*Lovers also gets its own Sister route. In a classic fashion, its also the hardest one to trigger. I still haven't figured it out yet but I bet they intended it to be the last one to be played. If it bothers you too much, they're not blood Related.

It just goes to show how much people start to think that the contrarian opinions of the worst video game community on the internet bar nun are commonly held beliefs. You can't see from the inside just how much of distorted worldview posting on that website for any length of time can give you. The future is not a normal place. Look at how anxious this person is about admitting to liking one of the most critically acclaimed games in history, as if that's passe, as if liking good things is bad. If you're posting somewhere where you think you have to preemptively apologize for your taste because otherwise people will do nothing but shit on it, maybe it's time to think about why the fuck you're posting there in the first place

Tried "The Fate" on a whim, found it on some list of recommendations (which is also the only thing about it online I can even find)
Turns out it's a korean diablo clone, with a trash translation and you can tell the dialog wasn't that good to begin with, just the bare minimum effort.
It's kinda comfy in a garbage kind of way, but not enough for me to want to keep playing.

Elder Scrolls Blades is not good on Switch either. I didn't expect it to be, yet I gave it a shot anyways.

Back to stepmania I go. I wish there were more consistently good Pad Packs. I get the feeling a lot of people created the packs on their keyboard and never actually tested them on a pad. Lots of weird double steps and what I assume are impossible jumps chained together (unless you have a bar to hold onto maybe?) Anyhow glad I never threw away my old DDR mats.

It's about time you've played it. I should've recommended it to you, knowing your taste in games. Not sure why it never came to mind. The game really shines in the hardest difficulties but i wouldn't recommended in the first run. I hope you will like it.

>>752674
Yeah it is. It's mediocre as fuck but the last update fixed all the animations and the other bugs. Every human Character is ugly. Your teammates wont listen to you, but by the second settlement, you're gonna be so overpowered they wont even matter.
It's a decent waste of time, but i wont call it good or anything. Its can get so stupid sometimes you kinda laugh at it like a B tier movie.

It wont really give you a chance to be a Paragon or a Renegade. its either Super Serious or Super Silly. I just went with super serious cause i wanted to kill as many aliens as i could. It was fun.

Skill Combos are great. Each class has its appeal but I always go biotecs. A Comboing with a Team of Biotecs turns the game into a fireworks show. It's just explosions and blackholes everywhere. Good fun.

I was always under the impression it was a sort of sexy dark souls before. Not based on anything other than what little I'd imagined about the game.

I played it until falling asleep at the controller, so I may end up doing another play on a higher difficulty. I'm on normal now. I love how the deaths and continues are made part of the world with Android's backing up memories.

My plans for the rest of the year just got the final nail in the coffin and my mind flipped the switch to heavy gaming. I'm juggling this, Iceborne, life is strange 2, and a few others daily to kill time between exercise and online classes.

What a bizarre time to be kind of alive.

That was really bad.

Didn't meet the minimum requirement of being defined as either rogue-like or First person Shooter. Game is incredibly short, even if you do go out of your way to play the game with each intro weapon. Random drop in framerate. All the gibbing and the blood and acid is seizure inducing. A small list of enemies in the games, most behave similar to each other.
There is a million other things wrong with this game, too much to even list. I guess its kinda of a unique experience since it's been a while since I played a game this bad. I just feel bad for all the suckers who kick-started this travesty.

I find the meat of the story, them going to a new galaxy, to be a neat story point and the beginning part of the story was solid, just that after that the writing gets really damn pedestrian, and i think that's because the lead writer who wrote all 3 games and a few books took off from the company.

Game is an overwhelming "MEEEEEEEEEEH".

After some of the graphic overhaul mods I can almost not go back to vanilla MW ever again. That game has the potential to be so beautiful in its own way. Ok, still ugly as sin but also beautiful.

I never tried any of the mods that add more content because I feel like I never did everything I could do in the normal game. I did the OpenMW build once for multiplayer and that was kind of cool, if full of weird bugs.

Is the problem me or is the problem elder scrolls games???

No matter how much I try to not fall into the grind cycle of elder scrolls games I ALWAYS end up falling for the autis.tic grind and forget about adventuring with the side quests and wonder of adventuring. Then eventually I get extremely overpowered and notice that it's not fun to be an insanely overpowered marysue character, then either I stop playing the game or I restart the game and inevitably become a marysue character again.

There is still beauty in its ugliness. Like, everything looks so alien that it doesn't have to meet your concept of beauty. And i'm not saying that cause of nostalgia or anything, I only played Morrowind two years ago.

I Never tried anything beside the graphic Overhaul. There is just so much depth to it, that i never felt the need to do it yet. The graphic Overhaul is just something people recommended to me, even after telling them it was my first time playing the game.

I'm kinda having a hard time getting the Rebirth Mod going. I Didn't have to do anything for the graphic overhaul, it just installs itself. Rebirth reguires some effort and im not sure if its worth it. Honestly, I wasn't planning on doing a lot of quests, I just wanted to get a bit into the Elderscrolls Lore by collecting and reading the books of Morrowind. Just roleplaying a Scholar.

Graphics usually don't effect immersion for me, with the exception of really really really old games.

A good game can make itself immersive and still look like shit. I've never understood or needed graphics mods for things like Morrowind. Part of its charm is seeing the graphics designed to look good in a shitty engine. This is a lost art IMO. Most of the games I find to be the most immersive don't look realistic at all. I think people need to smoke moar and just take in the environment. Mods take away from the artistic vision that was originally intended

>Duke Nukem A time to Kill

When I started this game i wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into. While the game at least runs better than Land of the babes and is more visually appealing, it still a clunky experience with awkward shooting. Heavy on the platform and quite punishing too. Mess up and its game over. Huge maps, with fairly similar textures all around so its very easy to get lost. Look for a number of keys to open the exit door, rinse and repeat. Music doesnt change all that much either, so you're looking at 4 to five levels of the samt OST playing on repeat for hours. Land of the babes might have been an ugly mess, but at least it was more fun.

Yeah I just wanted to know, and I think Manhattan project is still the best Duke Nukem Game to ever come out on a console. I think I've tried them all except for the mobile Games. Worst by far was the Duke Nukem Game on the Gameboy Advance. That was Horrible experience.

Man, I'm I glad to be done with this shit. I think im gonna go play The Misadventures of Tron Bonne Just to heal for a bit. I've been saving that one for a while and I think its time.

This absolute gem of a game. I love everything about it. I really like that it doesn't necessarily fit into any Genre, So the game doesn't get old like Megaman Legends, which it kinda did for me close to the end. I really enjoy this lovable Villain, Who really cares about her family and the Servebots. One of the things that I find really unique about it is how you start to get to know the Servebots personally the more you delve into the game. You stop Seeing them as just numbers, and each one is special to you in his own way. By far, I love #35, #40, and #7. Sure, you can name them, why do that when you can get to know them just the way they are.

Also the N64 version is the first example I think of when I think of terrible draw distance, you can only see like a foot in front of Mega Man.

Rage 2 is fun. I heard it described as doom 2016 in an open world and that's a fair assessment. Combats real tight I just wish there was more loot variety, being restricted to a weapon wheel in an open world game feels strange but the upgrade trees for each one sort of make up for it. There's a ton of color and it's visually very nice but feels like a borderlands 2 knock off a lot of the time.

So, What did you guys think of the System Shock Demo that was released on GoG?

I thought it was interesting. There was a couple of things that I felt they didn't get right. The Original Blockiness was due to technical Constraints, The decision behind replicating it felt unneeded. I wouldn't mind if they simply updated the appearance and the visual style. There is some Awful Glow and bloom at certain sections.

Enemies don't seem to have any Reaction animations. I'm pretty sure they did in the Original. I know its still Alpha but I really hope they rectify that. One thing I really like is the Door Codes not having their own Separate Screens, which really helps with the Immersion. But I still think the player moves too fast. He attacks too fast and the reloading your gun is really fast. I hope they slow it down a bit. Its a dungeon Crawler, not call of duty.

I'm very conflicted about the sound design and music. For one, I like how the put the ambient tracks with snippets of the original Soundtrack. They are definitely amping up the survival horror elements of the Original. But I original soundtrack was just so good, That I find myself feeling like its missing something extremely crucial. Anyone playing this game who never touched the original wont have this problem though, and that's good. You get the industrial tone when you're low on health, which makes me want to stay there for longer.

Corpses, Man. The original had dismembered corpses, most of them looked different. When you picked up and Audio Log, the picture matched the corpse on the ground which adds a lot to immersion. In this one they are all the same model. Its really disappointing. I hope it doesn't stay this way though i dont see how they will change it at this point.

Overall, I optimistic. I think il still enjoy it though the original will always be best version of the game.

Atelier Luluoa is everything I wanted and more. It feels so good to go back to Arland, hopefully not for the last time.i heard they decided to spend more time on the sequel instead of just churning out one every year. Not that they were bad games or anything, but it definitely felt overwhelming at times.

I've been playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 since I've been working from home and had nobody to complain while playing on the clock. It's weird because it's gone more for deep combat rather than fan service and costumes and references, which is the opposite of the last two. I do still prefer 1 and 2 but that might be rose-coloured glasses. I really liked how you would get different dialogue depending on who is in your party, whereas this is all the same.

See this is the problem with Silent Protagonists. Other characters need to fill in the space for them, so everyone turns into this incredibly obnoxious characters that need to explain and express their opinion about every little detail. Metro Exodus is just as bad as you would Imagine. If you didn't like the first ones, you will definitely not like this one either. Yeah, sure it's pretty but ultimately its still incredibly boring and linear. You spend the very first hours pressing W to move forward, and occasionally picking up stuff and opining doors E. I'd rather get shot in STALKER than Walk around changing Filters occasionally in Metro. Also Fuck that accent. I'm gonna try to play the game in Schooln. This Hollywood version of Ruskie is downright racist.

I want to get that one on Switch but I need to finish Ryza first.

Been escaping with Skyrim VR late into the night this week. It feels like all I have left to do is wander around hidden corners of the map, and they're all starting to look the same but it's relaxing.

It seems like every NPC I run into in the wild is aggressive and I don't know if that's intentional or if I screwed something up. Hunters and traders will talk to me for a second, and then suddenly start attacking unprovoked. By the end of my walkabout there may be nobody left alive.

Also still playing Redout which I definitely like more than Wipeout at this point. Wipeout is great but the lack of combat powerups in Redout make it more appealing to me, along with the ship handling and track design

You're still going to have to play the Previous Atelier Arland Series games to really get what's going on with Atelier Luluoa. You can still jump into it, but you wouldn't really know most of the characters in the game and their significance. But don't worry, Atelier Rorona, Totori, and Meruru are way more easy going than the Mysterious series. I didn't really like the Mysterious timeline all that much, everything was a lot more time consuming than it needed be. I plan to visit them one day, but for now im just glad we got a new Arland Game.

Play a melee build. You start out as a madman with a knife, and end up as the pain train. It's funny to watch your character teleport around the room in VATS, exploding everyone with a 30000 damage swing from the instigating super sledge.

Or if you've been doing that, try a stealth sniper.

I thought the two other games were boring too. I was hoping for something a little different but it's just more of the same. Like, even the monsters, I was expecting you would have to come up with different strategies to deal with each kind but its all just point and shoot. Point and shoot and sit through a scene where everyone talks too much about nothing.

I'm just so desperate for a Proper Stalker Experience besides STALKER. I played the fuck out of that game, and modded the shit out of it. I must have over a thousand hours. I guess i'm just going to have to deal with the fact that I will never experience anything like it again.

Yeah see that's one of the reasons why I prefer the Arland mainline over the Mysterious. The Mysterious throws at you a large number of items that aren't that beneficial, and the crafting system is more complicated so you get overwhelmed on what to do exactly. It took me a long while to get a good grasp of Atelier Sophie Alchemy system, and when I finally managed to get the results I wanted, I realized it wasn't really all that fun or rewarding to craft items using this system. Plus Plachta's demands got ridiculous near end game that I ended up disliking her a bit.

Then again, a lot of people disagree with me but I don't care I platinumed that game and I Ain't impressed.

Imo, it goes like this: Twilight>Arland>Mysterious>Sidetimeline
If you're looking to get into the Atelier games.

I want you to at least try Atelier Rorona if you have it. There is a lot of stuff going for it that makes it a more solid experience for new players. The Mysterious feels like they were experimenting with a lot of different ideas without really caring if it worked or not. Or better yet, Try Atelier Totori for that pure Vanilla Yuri Goodness that made me love the series.

The only mods i think i would like to have on fallout 4 is maybe a mod that allows me to create railway spikes for the railway rifle. It is kind of stupid that i can create all sorts of complex ammo but i cannot create railway spikes. It just makes no sense. Another mod would be realistic bullet damage that goes both ways, that could be interesting, then there is also a mod i have heard of which actually allows you to decorate your base with items such as fans and hot plates and so on, without it having falling to the floor or disorder, bethesda really fucked up with that problem, just pure lazy. Nexus wont take my credit card though so that is that i guess.

>>753053

I was playing a melee build and i though it would be fun to use the blitz perk while also being in a power armor but most of the time you can only get one enemy at the time because the other enemies are in cover, so you just watch this guy slay some people in slow motion and then watch his body fall down to its death in slow motion and it gets kind of boring real fast. Gonna try that sharp shooter build, where i just take everything out in vats, i am just gonna ignore the factions. I do not want to kill the railroad or the brotherhood, and i dont want to help the minutemen just so preston doesnt get sad. I am gonna befriend john handcock and become addicted to mentats, i am going to build a drug empire where all the settlements are only there to help me make or buy drugs my base perception is already 11 and soon it will be 12 as i find a way to injure my head to lower my perception once again (already suffering addiction from xcell) and only then can i raise my base perception once again because then it is below 10 which makes the special book capable of giving you one more perception. When i take mentats i will have 14 perception and if i wear the right clothing, i can make it into 22 perception, i will be able to hit everything in vats.

>>753056

Yeh but for some reason i only want to play fallout 4.

Realistic bullet damage is part of the mod list and it goes both ways so the fight are a lot more tacitcal and intense. There is also a couple of tweaks that help the game be more spooky. Like give super mutants more health but they carry only melee weapons so they're always looking for you and chasing you. Darker environment, harsher world where you need to think twice about venturing outside. slow down ghouls so they act like proper zombies but increase their numbers and spawn. You can also get infected with a wide range of diseases and there are some serious ramifications for letting the Radiation get too high. Better effects from drugs you consume but also serious side effects. Also guns and their mods, with their own animation that are way better than what Bethesda studios ever done. The list goes on.

Why the fuck are you signing up for a nexus premium membership?

You can probably get a mod that let's you create rails. Why would you sign up with those bozos is beyond me.

There are somethings that I do like about the game and others not so much. For one thing, I like the evolution of the Alchemy System. Elements that I loved about the Mysterious Timeline found their way into the Atelier Timeline Like the Supplements. I always liked that part about the Mysterious timelines and im glad to see it in Atelier, though I wish they expanded on it a bit more instead of just adding an extra one.

Some of the things they kept the same, like Creating Equipment and armor. I always felt like creating your own Equipment in the Atelier was a bit too far fetched. The Arland and Twilight Timeline both had their own Blacksmiths which was fun to have because it adds more to the relationship of the Alchemist besides just friends, You worked together with other people to create the best stuff. It breaks my Heart that Hagel isn't in the game. It hurts me to see him go since he existed in All the Arland games except for Lulua.

A new Addition like the Alchemy booster are kind of redundant only because you really cant do much about them. Its like adding an extra step that really didn't need to be there. Its kinda nice having one extra thing to do but it gets tedious after while. I'm only in Chapter 5, spent 40 hours playing the game so there is still more space to grow and i hope they become something better.

I Understand that it is difficult to balance all the Arland games characters while still adding new ones but I still feel like there is just not enough of the past game characters. I think Meruru did it the best, Where everyone kind of just moved into her kingdom and started doing their own. With Lulua, It just it feels like they are just there for the fans and nothing else. Totori isn't that invested in Lulua's development which feels wrong, because Totori is the one that cares so much about spreading Alchemy throughout the republic.
Meruru also is almost non existent in the game, and it sad to see it like that. They just kinda show up to remind you its an Arland timeline but they don't play a major role in the game which is nothing like the previous Installments. I kinda wish Meruru was Lulua's Teacher, then maybe it would've been different. I don't have a Problem, I really like Piana as a a character, but I wish the previous Main Characters played a bigger role in Lulua. They certainly did in the previous Games.

Yes I think it looks amazing! I hope the shooting gameplay is done well. I would say I wish it had multiplayer, but we all saw how that worked out with Cyberdimension...

Star Fox 64 aged pretty well I think, but I played it a heck of a lot. Could never get the Sector Z medal though I got all the rest.

This battlechasers game has a nice soft pleasant artstyle and all the animations have a nice oomf to them, real weighty.
I also like how the giant tank character is also the healer

I'm kinda bummed that there will never be a sequel to MGSV. The game has issues but the core stealth gameplay, the controls, the extensive weapon customization, the way you build an army and can send them on missions, and do stat battles against other players and earn currency, invade other players bases and steal their stuff. There's just so much here that works, it just needs to be expanded on in a sequel. Mainly just by creating more diversity in it's open world, and some much needed indoor missions.

We can only hope someday Kojima can reclaim the rights and finish the version of MGSV that Konami wouldn't let him make. Game was missing the entire third act. A reworked MGSV with GZ included, the final act finished, along with some more indoor environments on next gen systems and PC would be amazing.

I agree. People always go on about how unfinished the game was, but for the story that was there I really enjoyed it still. I just really didn't like how the missions were just repeating themselves over and over eventually.

I can do Hurt me plenty just fine, full health and armor that it gets boring, but whenever I switch to Ultra Violence I have a real hard time of it. It's so fucking evil, I don't know how people managed to get through it. I think il try to play through the wad with on that difficulty just to know what to expect, because I redid Kongo 20 times and I'm still dying in the same evil trap. The one with where they ambush you on the bridge with a vile, 4 chaingunners on every corner, two barons and I think a couple of cacodemons.
I wanna join the "I did all the official Doom wads on Ultra Vioence" club so badly. I've been trying all day. Sigh

Been playing Sorry, James since it was on sale for 49 cents on Nintendo E-Shop. It's an interesting puzzle/text game. The puzzle mechanics are tricky but it's a good challenge and the text dialogue is something else.

Also bought the Hotline Miami Collection since the ones I got on Steam a long time ago aren't compatible on Catalina. Still holds up as a very solid top down beat 'em up/shooter.

Playing a Tyranny campaign but I also just picked up Mini Healer yesterday and it's pretty fucking fun for $9. Went druid, no regrets, but you can go priest or a sort of life-steal necromancer so it has some replayability to it. I always tanked or dps'd so it's also kind of cool to play a healer even if it is all kind of managing bars. Each boss is kind of its own puzzle which is pretty cool and as you go on it introduces some interesting mechanics.

Would recommend.

Catalina doesn't run 32-bit games since it's 64-bit now so you have to create a disk partition with a pre-Catalina OS installed to get those 32-bit games to run but a lot of the games I have on there I can get on console. There's only a couple of games in my Steam library that are compatible with Catalina but none I go out of my way to play on there.

Portia is a really nice game to get super stoned and chill out to, the world is nice and its a nice twist on the whole genre to be a civil engineer instead of a farmer, and it is super satisfying as time goes on and you really start to build up the town and effect the world, you feel like you are actually building a thriving community.

I might just roll a few fatties and play a long session tonight.

Yeah I forgot to mention the building aspect, a big problem I have with games like this is aimlessness and it's great that you actually have a job and take orders in Portia. Gives a sense of something to do even when there's not much to do.cant say I'm a fan of some of the more minor mechanicsh like having to go to AG construction to upgrade your workbench and stuff but it's a nitpick. It seems to have everything id want in a game like this but I haven't touched the farming at all so we will see

I'm a fucking sucker for Battlefield games and this scratches that itch. Yeah it's not really a fair game, no I'll never get really good at it, but it's really fucking neat to see Yoda and Count Dooku duke it out on that Episode 2 clone map with beam guns whizzing past your head.

Game still holds up to this day. I love everything about it. The gameplay is a lot of fun, and surprisingly fair and intense even with a controller. The enemies got a lot of life in them, Shooting each part of their body makes them respond in a different way. Its always difficult to execute an enemy, even if he happens to be a Nazi. They don't beg for their lives, they're far in too much pain for that. But I waited them out and they do try to shoot you again once they gather their strength so I didn't show them any mercy anymore.

It has a very nice balance to it. The very first missions is just you running and gunning down enemies, getting used to the controls. But then it gets you into a more demanding stuff, and a little bit more into the story. Walking around, showing Germans you Paperz is fun, even today. This game did a lot of small things that makes you wish games today had. This game outclasses most shooters today. I don't think it's freaking nostalgia, this is the first time I play this game. I'm gonna spend the rest of the day asking people to show me their papers. Makes me feel like young again.

"Ich Nein!"

Seriously though, the more I dig in the past the more I hate EA. That company is fucking cancer

I agree so much. Allied Assault was so much better than any other WW2 Shooter. Just feels so good. The game doesn't take control away from you every 5 minutes, gunplay and leveldesign are fun.

I found Blade of Agony pretty much scratches that itch (although the dumb platforming in mission "grabräuber" is total bullshit!)
