For how many hours a day do you play videogames? How many hours a day of videogame playing do you think qualify videogame addiction? Did videogames make your life better? Videogames kind of ruined my life. I play around 4 hours a day and I NEED to have my 4 hours a day videogame fix, even on weeks where I'm really busy. So I schedule all of my cillege work and shit with that in mind, and that makes me much less productive and social and it may be primary the cause of my depression.

Very little these days. I have worse phases though, like a few months ago I was into ESO so I played that shit all day except for when I couldn't be at home. And now that I'm not into ESO anymore the number of hours spent playing games went down to like 1 and a half, maybe 2.

Its not a real addiction.
Not that it cant ruin your life, but quitting is trivial compared to alcohol or nicotine. Its just a matter of getting something else going in your life, no will power necessary.

This. I didn't think I ever would. I used to be able to play games for hours on end. Now I play once or maybe twice every two weeks.

... I never said I don't play video games, I just play them in moderation. You must be new if you think there aren't people on image boards who barely play vidya and shitpost anyway.

Not quite what I was saying. I was speaking on behalf of other people, who I've seen admit to not playing vidya at all, but voluntarily browse vidya related boards anyway.

>For how many hours a day do you play videogames?
None a day, I kinda stopped caring about games that much after I got through my rations of existensial crisis. Still really like some types of games though, and I tend to cycle between just once a week and maybe three sessios a week if I've found a game I really enjoy. Mostly because the types of games I've become unable to enjoy coincide with games that are huge timesinks.
>Did videogames make your life better?
I think if I summed it all up I would probably be slightly in the negative. Some games gave alot, but most of them were just wasted time I would have benefitted from spending differently.

You are kinda proof of my thinking that developers never really cared about their fans or trying to make them happy.

They are just means to a dollar for you, and theres nothing wrong with that either

But shitting on your fans ie the people who are the reason you have a job shouldn't be rewarded either. With that said sir, I wish I knew who you worked for so I could make sure I never supported them ever again.

I didn't mean it that way. It was all just a joke. Most developers I know are not in it for the money (especially because developers oftentimes don't even see the money when a game does well, that usually goes largely to the publishers instead). Smoke more, chill out.

Yes. It's had such a devouring effect on my life that I can't even bother with your puny metrics that only serve to dwarf the scope of life damage from vidya.

Instead, I'll just point you to my story of how I got fucked with and fucked up when setting out to acquire not one but two extra computers that I needed for gaming, putting me smak dab in the crosshairs of Ballmer type guys who know nothing better than how mind blowingly awesome it is to be all about selling computers. Well, except maybe they know even better what pungent, tangy underharvested scum anyone who is enough of a sicko that they can actually be said to enjoy computing-machines and not just infinitely more proper and respectable tech biz:

I legit miss the Windows 95/3.1 mouse I had with a horizontal scroll wheel.

I've never seen another in my goddamn life. I wish I'd kept it. Closest thing is the goddamn apple mighty mouse. Yuck.

I gotta question that, perhaps the closest thing to one mouse with two separate scroll wheels would be having a scroll wheel for each hand? In particular, I'm thinking a mouse and the newer version Kensington Orbit with the scroll ring, that's the blue balled one in the back of this pic. That scroll ring is also featured on Kensington's Slimblade trackball, the one right at the front in this pic, as well as on their Expert Mouse trackball, but those two are obscenely expensive. Assuming they still sell all those.

Personally though, I just wish they'd give me some damn keyboards with Pageleft and Pageright keys!

( I don't think windows 3.1 even recognized one scroll wheel, the mice back then certainly didn't have them )

And that's the kind of thing that's particularly appealing about sorting through "obsollete" hardware, along with gaming uses, not that it makes it worth all the horseshit and headache.

Though I guess there always is the alternative of hacking stuff together, right? And that goes for both those kinds of things, at least in theory, or in better-case-scenarios.

Hah, RSI!

See, that concern seriously validates reaching back a decade or two towards a whole different bunch of different controllers, before the aggressively established current "standards". Using more different types of interfaces implies putting repetitive strain on your body on different places at different times, which could be said to make the strain less repetitive.

But people don't think like that! They'll get insistant that the one legitimate question is "what is the good controller?" That's the kind of stuff they need to believe in.

Of course, thems trackballs are strongly reputed as simply less strenuous than mice. And the mechanical keyboards that used to be common back in the day also are suspected of being less harmful, although they appear to be making something of a comeback. Oh yeah, and gaming 16 hours will fuck you up no matter what, but then it's unbelievable anyway.

I don't think it's that farfetched now in the modern world.
NEETs are pretty common on IBs, and if he has some enthusiasmo super-powers maybe he can keep at it without getting bored of it like a more standard person. Maybe keeps it "fresh" by switching genres every few hours.

Cause that's just how the nice assertive picture about showing off trackballs ended up. More specifically, it seems to have some sort of "fairness" objective to it, with two Logitechs, two Kensingtons and two microsoft trackballs, which is odd, I've been pretty sure that MS has not made any trackballs since either Kensington's slimblade or scroll-ring-Orbit were released, and there are a few other manufacturers trying a little bit at producing trackballs now.

Which one of these is that even? Not even one ambidextrous option in that whole product range! Yeah, there's the marble mouse, but even in that case, no scroll wheel then.

...or is *this* that "classic Logitech Trackman trackball"?

>>740538
That just sounds massively deranged. There's sleep. There's eating. Different genres sound like a horrible pitance of "fresh enough". That has to require, like, at least 90 minutes of message board time. And/or watching/reading stuff that's in some way related to the games. And probably switching between PC and console games.

It's far more conceivable that the whole point would be for it not to be fresh. Kind of like serious alcoholism.

And more likely, there's probably a daily dose of porn in there for that variety. And the all day gaming is probably just on the worst days.

>>740749
Then get a hold of yourself, it's obsolete, just let it go! Now, the exclusion of a Logitech Marble Mouse, I could understand a big deal being made about that; the ambidexterity and persistant availability has been impressive, in spite of a limited amout of funciontality/controlls.
