I recently was thinking about Onimusha 3 and how much fun I had with it back in a day.

Onimusha 3 was pretty good, most of the series excluding Dawn of Dreams or Warlords seem to get forgotten about tbh. My pick would be The Darkness, even thought the gunplay can get a little wonky with autoaim being a shit, everything else it has compliments it really well and it's turned out to be one of my favorite games. I think it's even better than 2

Onimusha 3 was pretty good, even though I like 2 better. Also, it seems like sort of a waste to bring acclaimed actor Jean Reno in to voice the Frenchman of whom he gave his likeness, and then replace him with some schmuck 10 minutes in because fuck subtitles

The limited edition goes for a lot now and i have an unopened one but il take it with me to the grave so other people will never know the pain i have endured.

I keep forgetting that I bought a shit load of anime games on PS2 like 12 years ago because they were always expensive as hell at Gamestop and I figured they would be worth a lot. I would have expected piracy to have killed the value on these games because only neckbeards actually played them and neckbeards pirate anything and everything. Guess I'll have to stroll over to eBay and Amazon to see what people are selling these for these days and see if it's worth digging my old games out of storage to make some easy money.

Hey, I played it that one too. If you want to listen to a negative critique of it, here it is.

I didn't like Onimusha 3. To me, for some reason, I associate the game with that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from the 90s in which they wear samurai armors. I really hate that movie. I felt that Onimusha 3 was an cheap attempt to grab more fans for the franchise. More action, a celebrity, a metropolis, time travel, two characters to control...

I didn't like how the plot it isn't properly tied with the first game ending. It was too much hollywood for me: genmas in Paris, travel to the past, Jean Reno (Why him?), Why in Paris?, the pace of the game was faster than in the previous games.

I haven't read a negative impression of the game, so that was my contribution to stimulate future discussions of the game.

I love The Darkness 1. I don't get why so many people overlooked this. It was such a ride emotional ride towards the end... Oh, the ending, man. That ending, man.

I went for then second one but I didn't like the artstyle. Also, went for the comics but Jackie look like superhero-villain hybrid and was put off by it.

Chronicles of Riddick. Surprisingly solid game. Good atmosphere. Good atention to detail. Good difficulty.

They could totally re-do it with barcodes or QR codes these days, if not DVD's.

I think I hypothesized as a youngster that it was all based on the MB size of the CD, so in my experiences a 700MB disc would give the same monster regardless of what it was for, as long as it was 700mb.

AOL disks are probably all the same size megabytes-wise but this is just my 12 year old brain's confirmation from hundreds of hours of use. Dawn of Dreams... well, it was too much anime for me. In terms of aesthetics, It was too juvenile and unreal... yeah.. unreal in a videogame... what I mean with that is that you have colorful characters, literally and with excentric outfits in a franchise with a more serious tone.

wanna expand on my earlier taifu post with a pic
this game was a lot of fun. A perfect mix of exploring environments, inventive and expanding gameplay, and enemy encounters. The fighting styles mixed together pretty seamlessly, mantis style for chi attacks, crane style let you glide around and monkey style had a ton of mobility and combo potential, and i think there were some other styles that i've totally forgotten. I remember by the end of the game i was mixing together crane style and monkey style moves and it just felt really natural. I would absolutely love to see a modern take on this.

I liked how if you played 2 player against the computer the AI was a airship that trash talked at you instead of the player walker.

Windforge was really good but feels somewhat lacking polish. I feel like there should have been more to it, but what's there is pretty good anyway. The idea of building a base that's also your transportation and combat vessel is pretty slick.

Visually reminds me of Hardwar, a great old open world spaceship game. Very few have played it because the installer is fucked for modern systems. I had to fix it myself to install. Thought of making a release so others could play but then didn't know how I'd distribute it.

That would make it a competitor of Battlecruiser 3000 AD then, huh? Just maybe there's some inteste trash talk stemming from that lingering on Usenet.

I'd say Hardwar looks more similar to Mechwarrior 2 and Battlezone. That's also on the ground, but low gravity does feel a little different.

Oooooh I enjoyed Phantom Crash on the original XBox (aside from the loading times). There wasn't really any plot but getting to rumble in an arena mech fight felt super cool, and this game came out exactly ten years before Hawken did the same thing and got way better review scores for it.

Holy shit, I'm glad I found this thread while I was looking to see if there was already a RE2Make thread.

Back in the day when the only way to get weird Japanese games was through an importer I was lucky to know a 90s weeb who was getting rid of his Playstation. With it came 2 games I wish I still had and the current eBay prices reflect that...

I would be surprised if anyone remembers either Silhouette Mirage or Tail Concerto.

Silhouette Mirage was an awesome and insanely difficult (Apparently made for difficult for the US market) bullet hell style sidescroller shooter with a cool color based mechanic that would show up in later bullet hell style games.

Tail Concerto was probably the first "furry" thing I ever saw and man was it great. You're essentially a dog cop in a robot that has to attack the cats who are bad guys. As a kid it was great, but as an adult the whole furry thing turns me off a bit.

I don't know what happened to my hard copies of the games and I sure wish I did because silhouette mirage sells for 80 bucks and there's a listing of a mint Tail Concerto on ebay right now for a whopping 190 USD.

Oh the money I could have made....

I had no clue! Never owned a DS but it is awesome to see the world expanding even if the art style looks quite a bit "edgier" than the original. I guess the artist that drew both had a style change in the early 2000s.

>>740990

Played it a little bit at a friends house, seemed fun but I was a huge Armored Core fan at the time so it was a little too goofy for me

I'll post one of my favorite games as a kid, Gladius, a really cool turn based tactics game where you wander a mythic Europe as the head of a gladiator school. It had a wonderful strategic system and really deeply customizable characters and was just a really excellent game that is easily up there with Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics, but nobody at all seems to remember. I would love a sequel or a spiritual successor.
