A thread about some interesting information about video games during their production.

For example, did you know that Prototype 2 was build on a cancelled Spider-Man 4 assets?

I have a bunch:

Shinji Mikami (of the Resident Evil franchise) said that they considered a first person view for the first game and also the possibility of including ghosts in the first Resident Evil game. For the latter idea, Mikami thought that it would be impractical since if you had to kill ghosts you would need a magical sword of some sort or a special weapon.

Shinji Mikami, again: he didn't like the title Resident Evil for the localization of the game. He thought (if I remember correctly the interview) something like "What the hell? What kind of title is that?". Biohazard, apparently was good enough for him.

Remember Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black? Well, the Team Ninja, back when Itagaki was their leader, just picked the title without so much thought. They had several IPs to choose from. The original Ninja Gaiden was a Tecmo IP and Itagaki and his team just picked it up. They would do the remake for the Xbox if he and his team respected the spirit of the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for the NES.

One of many endings of God of War 3 was supposed to be to end the history of the game with the birth of the abrahamic religions. The original creator and director of God of War 1 (not in charge of GOW 3) said that he had an idea of a possible GOW 3 ending. In his version of the story, I don't remember if it all the gods literally died by the hand of Kratos or just metaphorically... but, according to this guy, killing gods would eventually turn the humanity into non-believers and that would mean: no prayers, no beliefs, no faith... the remaining gods would become weaker and finally they would start to dissappear... the final scene would have had the three magi following the star of Bethlehem and that would be indicating the birth of the abrahamic religions.

Guns N' Roses and Megaman X: Go to the screen where you can select the stages in Megaman X5. All the maverick names are variations of Guns N Roses members from the 80's and the 90's. Another thing... the Guns N' Roses song "My Michelle" sounds the same as the Neon Tiger theme from Megaman X3.

In conkurs bad fur day, yku can read the porn mag he is reading, and watch him play, I think it's killer instict, when he pulls out a game boy.

A known one but worth mentioning, the konami code was the first cheat code and was put in the game for testing and they just forgot to remove it.

SMTIII, i think that's the one, on SNES has a special easter egg that only appears once every 65000 or so restarts. The screen just has japanese Kanji on it. I think it just says "shut it off" over and over again.

David Bowie was the inspirations for a few MGS characters.

Michael Jackson did some song work for sonic 3.

Fallout New Vegas felt the way it did because Bethesda meddled and demanded they make the game a specific way rather than letting them be free to make what they wanted entirely.

Sean Murray stated in the first interview done after E3 that No Man's Sky would release as a bare bones version with almost none of the content they are showing, but, that the content they are showing would be added eventually. A fact many have ignored/overlooked.

In fallout 3 you can use mister sandman on children resulting getting free exp, without losing Karma, and they don't die. Infinite EXP.

In heavy rain you can glitch madison to walk around nude for a scene.

In Beyond two souls, if you use a hacked PS3 you can move the camera and see Ellen Pages character "nude". Anatomically incorrect.

And one dumb one. If you want your games to have a lower ESRB rating, make blood green or blue and say it's "cyborg juice".

That all happened because the Capcom USA localization writer's (also the original VA for Claire Redfield) then-husband asked her to. The names were "fixed" for the recent MMX collection.

The first Devil May Cry and Onimusha games were born from the ashes of cancelled Resident Evil games.

Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Devil May Cry, Viewtifull Joe, Okami and Bayonetta never made a sequel to his games.

Keiji Inafune was the reason of Capcoms dawnfall in ps3 and xbox360 era, it was him who came up with the idea of working with a shitty western developers by handing them their IP's...

Katsuhiro Harada is not the original creator of Tekken franchise, he joined the team since Tekken 2 and was responsible for Tekken 3-7.

Shenmue 3 is going to suck.

uhh my dude Harada was the voice actor for three characters in the original Tekken, the game was his first assignment after being moved into a development position at namco

He wasn't the creator or producer or anything, but he was with the series from the beginning

That makes sense. DMC1 felt so much better to play than any of the squeals and I played Okami for the first time a few months ago and the combo system reminds me of DMC,

Final Fantasy Tactics was conceptualized as one of the last chapters in the Ogre Battle Saga. The creator of Ogre went to work for Squaresoft and couldn't take the IP with him so he just changed up the setting from a fictional Balkans to generic high fantasy and threw some Chocobos and airships in there. This is why the story of this game has a much different tone than any of the rest of the series or even the FFT Advance games. As good as FFT was I wish they would have finished up Ogre instead.

maybe, but it's more likely that in a city where literally no plants grow naturally, as a person who has access to the only source of flowers within that city, it;s probably a safe bet that she is literally a flower seller. If she was prostituting then I think she'd be just as sought after by Don Corneo and the HoneyBee Inn as she is by Shinra.

You run into a number of npcs in Midgar who bought flowers from her and their comments are highly suggestive. Square is probably just teasing us with it. Personally I like to think she was but they never could go through with it cause Purityfags would lose their minds. Every member of the party is little broken and she's the exception unless you count this one thing.

From what I understand Each of the major European/Near East polytheistic religions (Greek, Norse, and Egyptian) would also have their own "Kratos" who's slay them. All three would in the end, end up being the three wise men who marked Jesus' birth.

Also, David Jaffe is apparently unaware of both Judaism and Zoroastrianism if he thinks Abrahamic religions started with Christianity.
