You can launch games you get through epic from the .exe without using epic.
Only GoG and piracy allow that as far as I know.

Even the price of "Free" can't make me play the arkham series again. I beat the first one, hoping it would get good. Played the second one a bit because the story was awesome, but I quickly lost interest. Played arkham knight for a couple hours. The arkham games are all mindless, repetitive garbage that only a hadcore batman fanboy could love. Sure, they look good, and the story is great, and the codex is chock full of awesome information. But the gameplay is utter garbage. It's barely better than a point and click adventure.

not to just jump on the train, but honestly having grown up with torrents available almost my entire life I've come to think of every game as free if I care enough to look and get it working, and the reason to actually buy things is for convenience/customer support/online multiplayer

so getting me to go out of my way to do a thing I wasn't gonna do otherwise for a free game is literally no different from pirating it in my mental calculus
except they always ask for, at bare minimum, an email address, so it's almost always more of an effort than pirating it in the end
so I havn't bothered with literally any of the free games humble bundle or whatever has thrown around over the years, not even the ones I actually wanted to play, and I really don't understand the benefit from a marketing perspective, am I total outlier? do people actually sign up for these free games they didn't care enough to play beforehand?

No, but you are supporting and using a terrible service and the creator will use your download as "proof" that epic is the most popular client available to get more exclusive deals without upgrading or improving the client.

Your account is an asset. Account growth and engagement, not revenue, is how things like this are sold to partners and investors.

Unless their data shows that free giveaways usually lead to sales I don't see how it's attractive to investors. You don't make money off of account growth and engagement alone. I don't think people purely taking advantage of the free giveaways is particularly damaging to an already shitty industry

They don't need investors, they have tencent. Tencent out right owns some gaming companies and hold majority stock in others.

You're assuming investors aren't brain dead. Which sometimes they are.

Arkham Knight has no denuvo and they just patched in all the DLC.

Except that it's bad. Arkham Asylum was the best because it had focus. City started adding to much bloat in story & mechanics and City just made it worse.

Personally, I'd say that about Arkham Knight, not City. City was a fine game. I wish I had played Origins, but I know I'll never get around to it.

The second time he said City he probably meant Origins. That's the weakest imo
