>Oblivion

Ran with Guilbert Jemane all the way from Cheydinhal to Chorral to see just how much time it will take me. About two hours. He was unconcious around 13 times. He had an Ebony Warhammer but kept running into tough enemies. Four Highwaymen, 3 Ogres, 3 or 4 Wolfs. I let him Duke it out with them just watching the shit happen. We ran into an Oblivion gate and it's the only way I helped him out with it, otherwise it would've take me another half an hour.

Got nothing better to do on a Saturday

>Army in Oblivion
Claude Maric, Umbacano, Jemane Brothers, Mazoga The Orc, Castellan Athon, a knight of the nine, dark brotherhood initiate, and mage apprentice can all be added to follow you including a permanent atronach.

>Arming the Army
They can also be given permanent bound items through some glitching and reverse pickpocketing or console command.

>Unique NPCs as followers
Ushnar's Skinned Hound, Court Healer, Golden Saints/Dark seducers can also be brought back from the Isles into the main game by using a spell to make them follow you, then swiftly entering the portal back to Cyrodiil, then immediately getting a small bounty and paying the fine causing those under your spell to appear outside court with you... cast the command/follow spell again to move them where desired and then leaving to wait 3 days to make them stay put, which also works in morrowind if using a command spell to make someone follow.

>Build your own base
I always enjoyed moving NPCs either with console command or glitches on console to settle different areas and decorate them accordingly.

>Morrowind NPCs
In Morrowind Lustidrike, Creeper, and Mudcrab merchant along with peaceful and wild/pack guar were always awesome to have around in a settled area. There's also an imperial girl from a quest to slay a daedroth who gives you infinite heals.

Uh I'm actually playing it on the PS3 so I cant mod it. I could've played it on the PC, its connected to my TV but It runs too well for my taste. It has to be the buggy and slow gameplay of the console for me to enjoy it. It's how I played it the first time and the PC version never sat well with me. That's why i never actually played the game modded and never plan to. Got no problem with Skyrim.

Doing a hand to hand playthrough. 260 hours in and it's alright. Was doing pretty badly for a while but I got my restoration up for a bad so can take a beating now.

Punching Daedra in face to death is a lot more fun than expected it. Mages die easily, shield fags I just bash to death. But Daedra like Daedroth are a serious fight of jabs, left hooks, blocks and jump punches. Its a lot of fun cause they are pretty quicksilver and can stun you easily and when they do they combo you with a series of attacks that can kill you if you're not at full health.

If you think you experienced everything Oblivion has to offer I reccomend playing a hand to hand play through. It's been great.

Cast fortify speed on a horse to fly at light speed, or even check out the ring dupe glitch to permanently enchant yourself etc.

I actually made a flying demon samurai character just for mid air combat.

Also staff of worms and skull of corruption can be used to get unobtainable items like yellow team garb, the gray aegis, emperors robes, dark seducer and golden saint weapons. No mods just in game tricks.

People have compared it to Planescape, but the overall mood and discussions within the game remind me more of Sanitarium.

Your skills are basically your inner thoughts, and there's constant checks happening that give you more information/guidance on dialogue options, like the Encyclopedia skill giving you lore dumps on terms in the world, the Rhetoric skill telling you how to approach certain situations, or the Authority skill telling you to assert dominance at certain times. Other perks like Drama can tell you to spice it up for the sake of variety, or Electrochemistry telling you to take every single drug you come across.

Skill checks in the game so far are dependent on your skills, but some of them are white checks which you can try over and over after you learn more information from talking to someone, getting a specific item for the task, or focusing properly on the task at hand. If you fail a task you end up embarrassing yourself or wounding your health/morale - you can actually end up dying from the very first skill check in the game.

They say there's turn-based combat in the Steam store page tags, but the only combat I've come across have been physical skill checks within the dialogue, and that is focused on kicking open doors, moving objects, or attacking people. The game's main gameplay is going around and talking to people and debating with them while doing investigations.

Look up some of the good bad bugs on UESP, there is shit like stacking quest item enchants on yourself, 0 weight damage health enchants to silently murder or at least knock out everyone, alchemy feedback loops allowing you to break the game sort of like in morrowind but with a few more steps.

You haven't beaten the game until you one hit punch Mehrunes Dagoth and turn him into a metly puddle.

>Goodness and challenge
It's really fun making a custom character to roleplay as with exploits. You can even level up infinitely through a load/save manipulation involving a save on any character that is about to level up and may make yourself level 120 on a new character without leaving the sewers though this makes the game equally tough but a great challenge.

>Icarian flight PSA
If you plan on flying in Cyrodiil, maker a super health spell if you can in order to ensure you survive the crash or you may ragdoll into outer space or flop across Cyrodiil, though this is entertaining just for itself. Same with running/jumping at super speed and running out of fatigue.

>Lord of the Rings
It takes a while but you definitely can dupe some sigil stones and rings to give yourself magicka through the exploit in order to make super spells and obtain super powers. You will have to unlock some spells in order to make awesome ones or even more unique enchanted rings to imbue yourself with which will be a worthy quest for any who seek power or super sorcery.

>Super Spells
Will cost super money so if you do the Dorian glitch don't kill him as is stated by some, simply use 100% chameleon (gear or spell) and sneak to cast paralyze upon Dorian then pickpocket infinitely for sweet spell funding.

>Free black thief/assassin clothes
Shady sam the dealer right outside the Imperial city stables can be killed without bounty for black clothes and some dope.

Goodluck! post back here with your exploits of making the super puncher sometime.

That is beautiful! Glad that others have this kind of fun in Oblivion and Morrowind. It's a good reason those two games can be enjoyed for replay value. I love hearing what others do in their playthrough!

Flying 100 feet in the air and blasting a super nova of magic is just not something many games offer, and the joy of using something you created yourself and named is beautiful.

>>744416

A couple notable mentions as well:

>Morrowind style staff in Oblivion
You can make a damage on touch staff through an exploit during Whom Gods Annoy which allows you to keep an unenchanted version of the scamp staff and give it one of your own enchantments. Better than the one given by the University as it really is your own unique staff. Alternatively you can keep the regular stave and command the scamps through magicka.

>Necromancer's Amulet and Emperor's Clothing. I live again!
These pieces are hidden in Skyrim but are also obtainable in Oblivion through the same type of exploit of the skull of corruption and staff of worms. Like M'aiq the Liar the items make for roleplaying as the same character (immortal vampire/incarnation etc) quite fun.

>Debaser
Is the best shortsword in game as it scales to level and has the reach of a regular sword, so if you can do so try to avoid the quest Unfriendly Competition in the Market District til level 25.

>Evil or friendly clone?
If you manage to make a clone of yourself with the skull of corruption and attack it there will be a bounty placed on your head and you will become an outlaw as your evil twin will actively hunt you down and take your place in the world. It will use your every move and item and then some. The soulless purple eyes of the clone may seek your demise or follow blindly depending what you choose to do.

>Super beast
Imbuing your summoned creatures or group of party members with supernatural magicka and power is endlessly entertaining by taking the role of a support spell caster simply to observe battles or play healer during them. Note this is hard to do with things that resist or reflect magicka but with this you can take a level 5 Ushnar's Skinned hound and make it stronger than a Daedroth and immune to damage. The hound is a very good boi to bring into Cyrodiil through exploit if you'd like a supernatural pet dog and although you cannot tell it to wait it will run at lightning speed when far away to catch up and also teleport to you when leaving or entering an area.

>Flying on a Unicorn
There is a unicorn in game and if you cast super speed and health regeneration on it can fly in the sky by super jumping. My brother's orc Urük High-Kush uses the Unicorn as main transportation in game with Umbra as a sidearm.

Playin Borderlands 2 VR on PSVR

My only real complaints are
a. There's no sprint, if you aren't using teleport movement you're locked to either low/med/high speed via the options menu
b. Motion steering does not work and there's no reverse for vehicles, when you run into a wall you have to get out and smack it with your melee until it flips around

Past that, it's rather immersive at times when you're runnin and gunnin and the weapon variety keeps it interesting. Leap up over a crate and fan the hammer on a dude, it's immensely satisfying. Plus the world is full of stuff to find, pretty much every nook and cranny has at least one hidden container tucked away (although it's seldom worth it since you usually get $5~ or some ammo) and the visual style works pretty well in VR. I can look at stuff far away and still tell what I'm looking at, and if I can keep my hand steady enough I can score headshots on enemies at the other side of the map.

It's a lot of fun for sure, and I played it through 2-3 times on PC already when it first came out.

Honestly I've never owned a Mario kart game but I think I have played every single one and Diddy Kong about as extensively as you can without doing so. Maybe not the WiiU one, but I have played an arcade with a steering wheel and pedals and that's awesome. I've also played DK racing, I'm being a bit hyperbolic because it wasn't bad. The flying levels are nice touch but it's really just an inferior version.

Anyway, yes, Mario Kart is classic. Though why the fuck are massively explosive bombs driving around the mushroom kingdom capital and no one cares? What the fuck?

This is the kind of game I wish I still drank for. That is an amazing game to play as an alcoholic from what I gather. I may end up buying it at full price. Watching some of the reviews it looks like one of the most hilarious and hard to describe enthralling games ever made with the interactive storytelling. Seeing a drunk cop fail a skill check in hitting on some random woman in the hallway who asks if he was lying about being a cop and all you can say is "do you want to make fuck" is one of the most memorable character interactions I've seen in a game in years.

Destiny 2s raid suck balls. They got stupid gimmick shit that just ruins it. Tried running one once and we got to the end but the method you have to use to kill the bullet sponge of a boss is fucking stupid. That and the fact nothing matters in the slightest till you hit light level 900, then they basically hold you hostage demanding to play their garbage content modes.

Even then, the game is what I consider a "mechanical failure". The idea that you increase your light level to become more powerful, but, they also make it so depending on your location in the game causes more damage to enemies. So why increase light if it does nothing?

It's just a skinner box. You're increasing your level but never becoming truly more powerful because content is always scaled to your light level. There's no real sense of progression because you're always fighting things at your own level or higher. You feel strong for about 30 minutes when you're at the top of your tier, then you hit the new level and you're weak again.

In most MMOs the level would at least help with PVP, but PVP always matches you with people the same level and skill as you are. So there's no progression there, either.

Then it begs the question, why play it? If you never actually achieve getting stringer, and the levels are strictly for show, what reason is there to play it? I started a new character and they completely removed the story. You start back in Destiny 1, then you're just in destiny 2s world. At light level 750, because that is the minimum. And when you hit 900, they demand you play shitty modes and reduce the speed at which you level to a crawl. Demanding continuation if playing through their game which amounts to nothing.

>PersonaQ

What can I say. The game has too many characters, it plays too much like a Persona game, and the entire focus is on the interaction of the characters.

This game was made for the fans of characters in the Persona games rather than the game itself. There is barely any story here, and what little there I'd isn't very engaging. They didnt try too hard to make sense of it all, they just jammed all the characters in a game and called it s day.

I'm not a fan of the music, they brought back the Japanese Rapper for the P3 and he's taking center stage here and he can barely speak english. Especially the boss music, he's so loud I tend to just mute the game. The main battle song is pretty hype and the levels each have their own unique twist to its musical theme but I only they didnt bring back that guy.

The game plays too similarly to The Persona games. You know, match each element with a mob and to knock him out, get all five of them and you get an all out attack. I was hoping they would do something unique with it but played it safe and I'm disappointed. If you're bored of the Persona gameplay I wouldn't reccomend this to you.

I'm not really interested in any of the interactions between the characters because the circumstances and how they dealt with it is what I liked about them, now they are all just a bunch of high school kids hang out and that's just blegh.

I'm gonna rush to the end of it. I might even lower the difficult to get it over with. Dont know what to say but playing this, I'm glad I wont be playing another Persona game for a good five years or whenever Six will be announced.

I beat the second floor boss for the first time in ETG. Feels good man. I'm definitely horrible at this game but i'm getting better. The second floor bosses actually seem easy especially the Gorgun I just always go in there with only like half or one heart
Real fun game. I like the huntress because her pistol fires real fast and the dog finds keys and shit Marine also has a really good starting pistol and the armor is nice. Every starting character seems pretty viable honestly but the huntress seems most powerful, or at least the character I always get the furthest with
I found out about the secret floor in the fire but I haven't explored there very much yet.

If you haven't played in a while they've added a ton of shit since the launch including way more synergies. I've had some garbage weapons that turn into super good guns with synergies from the update.

I hate isaac's theme and I cannot enjoy gungeon's atmosphere and feel more so I like it way more than isaac despite enjoying isaac.
Casey is the best weap for sure, some people don't know you can reload twice and reflect bullets back with it

Update: There IS a reverse for vehicles, you have to tilt the left stick behind you to go backwards. Which I guess makes sense.

There's a hell of a lot of backtracking and if I don't reload a save manually none of the containers respawn but the enemies do. It's still fun to play though, which makes the backtracking less of a hassle and more of an opportunity to try something different this time.

I've been using a purple I got out of the slot machine for the last 5+ hours though, it's just too good. It shoots 3 bullets per pull and shoots as fast as I can pull, so on top of it being a lot of fun to use it has absurd damage output if I get all shots to connect. The only downside is it has a scope so I have to bring up the scoped view to get the accuracy bonus, and the scoped view is just obscuring at times when I want to pull the trigger as fast as I can which shakes my trigger hand which wobbles the scope which is nauseating to try and have my brain interpret in VR. I do like the way the scope works for weapons like snipers but when you have a scope on a shotgun you're basically forced to one hand it.

But it is what it is, what I appreciate most is that areas are full of stuff to loot or shoot wheras Skyrim VR is a whole lotta nothin and some tubes with one or two enemies at a time.

demo for carrion went up. was a fun 30 minutes. it's ok. the violence is oddly refreshing.

my one complaint is you start with a ranged ability that's good for knocking down shield-carrying soldiers so you can attack them, past a certain size this turns into a lunging attack that's much less useful, you cannot swap them currently. good luck hitting shield-carriers in the back when you have to sit next to them making noise to prepare a lunge.

If you think you're picking up a Dark Souls game, think again. The game is heavy in everything you expect from an anime-esque game. Heavy on the tutorial, real cringe story, and full of tropes. Still, it's good and a lot of fun can be had with the character customization. It's a cakewalk especially for someone familiar with the souls formula. I'm gonna try not to level up just to try and keep it interesting.

Beat Postal 2 on Aggressive difficulty and found it a bit too easy until the weekend, which is hard as balls since you can't just go rob the bank and buy 8 crack pipes. Anyway though I had so much fucking fun with this retarded shit-stained masterpiece that I immediately started a new playthrough on "Hestonworld" difficulty and holy fuck they aren't kidding. Every random street civilian has at least 3 guns on them, usually including a fucking MP5, and they aren't shy about lighting you up if you step out of line. It's complete fucking insanity, and with how unpredictable the NPCs are in this game, half the time I'll be wandering around minding my own business, then turn a corner and the street is just fucking piled up with bodies for no reason because these lunatics decided to re-enact the bank robbery shootout from Heat.

I'm gonna need to smoke a lot of crack to survive this. Probably getting the police uniform will help, but I'm not sure if I can even survive robbing the police station once, let alone on all five days. I'll definitely need the catnip for that, but luckily I know where it spawns every day in at least one place. Once I get my hands on the hatchet and sawed-off it should be smooth sailing until the last part of Friday. I hear pissing on people can actually help you in gunfights since it causes your enemies to choke and retreat, I guess that's how people do pacifist runs of this game.

I was going to wait until I finished Sophie to start Ryza... but damn is this a pretty game. I also like that so far it feels more like a living breathing world as opposed to the world map in Sophie.

I think it's mostly how they made everything larger than life. Mountains and buildings tower over you and the gathering areas are a lot bigger.

Yeah, Sophie's world is pretty dead even by Atelier standard. Taking out the time mechanic just slowed things to a halt. I don't believe you will experience it to the same extant in other games.

It does look pretty though. Is that on the PC or PS4?
I heard the combat is way different like it resembles a Tales Game than an Atelier.

I got the screen from Google. It does look very nice on PC however, that's what I'm playing on.

I wouldn't say the combat is all that like a Tales game, though I havent dug into the battle system much yet. The ATB doesnt stop for you and you can reposition Ryza on command to strategize, but it seems similar enough to Sophie just more fast paced.

It doesnt feel as grindy, I'd say easier in a good way

>Code Vein

I've been playing this game for hours and i believe im near the end but i havent died once. I mean, i did, but to like something cheap like a hidden pitfall next a right turn or something.

The combat is really easy. This game was made for people who wanted to play Dark Souls, but couldn't cause it was too hard or something.
I would recommend it though, especially if you're a Dark Souls fan. Its fast paced, you don't have to worry too much about whats lying in wait for you cause shit dies easy. I had to stop myself from backstabbing everyone cause cause i was ruining it for myself. Its so fucking easy, but not to a Dark Souls fan.

The story isnt really anything unique. Its hard to really care about any of the characters, the events of the game play out like every other Anime-esque game so its really predictable. When i watch an anime that i know how exactly going to play out, my brain just shuts off and enjoys the ride. That's what i do when i watch most animes. When i started this game, my brain was like "Oh shit, Here we go again"
If you cant do that than just skip all the scenes. Invade other people's worlds like a motherfucker. These guys have no idea what they are doing. They are a cakewalk. there is so much salt to harvest here its uncanny. I think Dark Souls fans should move in and show how the boys how to do it.

Also Yakumo is my homie. Had to drop him as a partner and pick up Mia cause he was killing everything.

>>744981
Yeah, Sophie was pretty grindy even by Atelier standards. Now that i think about it, Sophie was actually a good Atelier game. Atelier Firis, It's sequel, was way better and had a more fun cast.

I asked about the combat because it whats the Atelier fans are complaining about the most. The like the Ryza a lot, especially her design, and all the characters in the game. I haven't really read much about her story, everyone is just laser focused on her design. Cant blame them.

Playing the FFVIII remake on the switch. The ability to triple the game speed and turn off random encounters is a godsend. It's still kinda grindy and weird, you really don't have to get the most powerful summons and magic because the game is easy af. But a lot of it is just out there waiting for you, so it's kinda tempting to spend a bit of time to make your characters OP.

The story still has its moments but the pacing is just fucked, especially with all the "optional" stuff you can do in between the story events.

It's alright. I never thought the art or story or well, anything was that good in Vinland. I guess I just padded my weeks with escapism to ignore the irl. It's best I at least know the truth now.

Did you just start PeachBall for the first time? What do you think?

Personally, I find the gameplay exciting enough to play for an hour or so whenever I've got time to kill. I havent touched the story because i feel like it will only depress me. Of course, I cant think of a way to make a pinball game's story mode more than a lighthearted bag of sweets, but still.

Oh i love it. Its a good game to just relax with. It doesn't really ask too much of you and if you mess up you can kinda blame it on luck.

I've just been having a real hard time completing another game called Amid Evil on the hardest difficulty and needed some good healing. Amid Evil, this game, im playing it on the hardest difficult and im stuck on a stage called gauntlet of Torment and let me tell ya, its hell.

I've been mostly playing the story for the healing. The story is very lighthearted and full of feel good moments. You don't have to play it if you don't want to, but its nice and cute. The characters who don't usually interact with each other, are very super friendly and it heals the heart. The characters also interact directly with you, the player, which is also a nice touch.
There will always be a hint of pain with every SK game from now on but it still feels good. Il just try my best to savour what we have.

I attempted to indoctrinate My niece. Gave her a Nintendo 3DS with all kinds of jrpg games in it but she lost interest pretty quickly. Showed her BangDream and she winced at it. I expect nothing less from my normie brother's daughter. Its going to take some effort but il get her to like it. Should've started with Prettycure or something.

uhh Riyona is alright. I like how slutty she is about everything. Adds a bit of spice.

Yumi Is kinda like Kiryu from the Yakuza game. How Kiryu is kinda the embodiment of the bushido code, Yumi is kinda the embodiment of the "Yamato nadeshiko" the Japanese men are so fond of. I've come to like her for it. Sure she's boring to us, but I appreciate her character a bit.

I bought Burst Renewal but i havent touched it yet. I should probably move on to playing all the SK games now. I figured i should save them for a good time since we wont get anymore but i could always just play them over and over again just like all my favorite games.

ubermosh: omega. the fucking eighth game in the series, dropped i'd have a decent screenshot but it kind of plays too fast to catch anything good.

overall not as hard as the previous game in terms of getting the cheevos or just clearing a 90-second round. enemy spawns are way higher though, the more you clear the more spawn so the skill ceiling for high scores should be higher this time.

Finally got DQ11 sealed. It's been out in Amazon for over 6 months, and I found a dudethatbsold it to me for 40. I'm a huge DQ fan so I'm happy to finally play it. It's good so far typical DQ11 beginning. In also set a couple of beginning draconian laws like harder monsters and no shopping.

Having a good time in Borderlands 2 VR

The visuals work pretty nicely I think. It's all pretty crisp and clear and I always know what I'm looking at. The only thing that really bothers me is this bizarre weapon offset that's different for every weapon type combined with drift on the move controllers making aiming a lot more finicky than it should be.

Other than that, finding new guns or new types of guns is always a treat, it's a heck of a playground to shoot stuff in.

Look, people get off on different things and that's OK. Some people like obsessively negging you online, some people like jacking it to cartoons.

Speaking of which, I'm checking out Ken Burns' new interactive documentary about Zoosexuals in the conservative post-reconstruction era South. *Ashokan Farewell plays* "Dearest Bessy the Ox, I hope this letter finds you well. Our chance encounter the other day sent my heart all aflutter, and I am quite certain that I shall never in my days meet another Ox as sweet and as tender as you. But I am also certain that your master, cruel as he is, will never understand nor assent to our courtship. Therefore I propose to secret you away that I might make you my wife, and that together we might make a life for ourselves. It is said that the Almighty looks down upon the intermingling of Man and Beast, yet perhaps, if our love is true, He will see it in our hearts and know in His infinite wisdom that it is Right. I dare not contemplate the alternative, for life without your tenderness is no life at all. Yours forever,
Arthur Morgan, 1899"

I dont particularly like it. Maybe those kind of games aren't for me. So far i've killed at least 50 communists from Cuba, Russia, Vietnam, and China. I keep that shit on my mind. Wonder about the massage that the writer is trying to send and im really still missing the point of all of this. Hope il get it by the end but if i don't, i guess it never mattered.

It's a fucking bloodbath but i like how unapologetic they are going about it. They wont pretend that they are the good guys, its just a one huge massacre. Sure, there are indications that you wont stoop to their level. Like How Fidel Castro used his bitch as cover, how the Russians massacred all the prisoners, the Vietnamese killing all those civilians but over all Mason and his stooges are all dickheads torturing people and killing anyone who gets in their way. And that's OK i guess.

The game is loud as hell though. I'm used to playing games with my headphones and even on the lowest volume, its hard listening to any directions coming from the other characters because everybody is shooting all the time. Explosions and fucking death everywhere. Like, the game starts and it never slows down, its just full speed ahead all the time. Shooting Castro in the face at the start was a good way to circumvent any expectations i might have had.

Its amazing actually cause i was really not getting into it until i started to pay attention to the music. Sean Murray did a pretty banging job with it. I wasn't expecting that. So what i did is lower the volume on everything and music was on full blast and its actually somewhat fun now. It's really good.

This one is my favorite. A real Banger.

I just really liked the Manchurian Candidate, and MK-ULTRA, sleeper agents, conspiracies...that sort of thing. I think its the only COD game that had any of that stuff.

I also do enjoy how COD depicts combat, even though its not very dynamic and almost entirely visual effects, it still feels pretty devastating and visceral; especially explosive impacts. I think the "Battle of Khe Sanh" was the best, it was such a hellscape.

In terms of story, I think Black Ops is mainly about the death of truth in war. The whole story itself is a non-truth set within real history and events. The player is even meant to go through the story believing an established fact, only to find out that none of it is true, and you've been acting on lies. Thematically, this is the only COD campaign that sticks out in my mind.

Microsoft just had or maybe still has a deal on 3 months of gamepass premium for $1, so I've been downloading hundreds of gigabytes worth of garbage in the last couple of days and I gotta say Gears of War Ultimate Edition is a dogshit port.

Messed around with all the settings and couldn't get it to run consistently at a high framerate. It's a bummer because I would have loved to replay the original story.

With that said, Gears 5 runs like a dream and looks fantastic albeit doesn't really do anything exceptionally so far. 4 kept crashing on me a few months ago, so I didn't get too far into it, but that's probably next.

Been playing the Bannerlord closed beta.

Has me super pumped - it's Warband in 2020, what more could you ask for? Movement and combat feel a lot smoother, and the animations and ragdolls are great too. Horses feel so much better, no coming to a complete stop because you clipped a tree. Still a little bit of general wonkiness, but that's to be expected.

Can't wait to play the singleplayer though, With mods this game is going to steal hundreds if not thousands of hours of my life and I cannot wait.

Sylvando is fucking gay as fuck, and he's fucking fabulous.

As a non-straight dude, I actually love that a fairly mainstream game went all in on making the most flamboyant, flaming, over the top, comically stereotypical queer character imaginable, with no fucks given about offending either the homophobic conservative or PC liberal tribes. I also love that he's mostly been embraced by straights and gays as a camp icon, and one of the more genuinely well written characters in the game. It's like going on a fantasy adventure with John Waters.

I'm running through the post-game trials on Switch right now and having a good time.

Playin some Borderlands 2 VR DLC, the Narnia DLC was really short compared to some of the others, but like, pleasantly short, only one mission you could even consider backtracking, albeit there were only 3~ missions in the whole DLC.

Turned off the scope view, makes it so you can hip fire dead accurate with sniper rifles which is siiiiiiick (the little crosshairs on where you're pointing make it easy)
Also playing as Psycho now instead of Gunzerker which makes melee combat a lot more viable and he's just entertaining to play as. Gunzerker is cool and all but it feels like unless you're at close range (or using dual rockets) you just miss 95% of your shots since you can't steady your aim. Compare Psycho where you just run towards the enemy flailing your arms and hope they die first.

Second playthrough means I keep all my badass token bonuses, most notably the 10% accuracy increase, which means bullets tend to go straight down the sights at early game now.

It's fun and works pretty well in VR. The graphics are probably the best part, the cel shading makes things stand out at a distance so it's easy to know what you're looking at.

I just started Valkyria Chronicles, the first one. The story trips over itself in the first 20 minutes really hammering in those anime cliches but its not terrible, I don't completely hate any of the characters so far so thats something.
What really got me interested in this game is how the battle system is a mix of real time and turn based, its going to take some getting used to I'm still confused about a couple of things. Are perfect battles even possible? thats something I always liked to try in games like xcom, leaving the battlefield with no soldiers hurt but it seems in this game you get shot at no matter what you do, even in cover.
And I know it was originally on the PSP but it feels right at home on the switch

The story kinda calms down during the middle but towards the end it goes full-on anime again (and not in a good way IMO).

I guess it might be possible to not have anyone get hit on some missions, but it would be slow and tedious as hell and your mission rank is mostly based on speed so it's just not how you're supposed to play.

>originally on the PSP
It was a PS3 game but it's been ported to most systems by now, two of the sequels were PSP exclusives though.

Is there a way to kill that zombie you encounter in the shack where you get the lever to lower the water in the pool? The NES Dragon Quest games are not what most people would call easy. They're not rock hard but unless you want to spend ages grinding, they're pretty difficult. The grind takes so long that it basically forces you to make the game hard, which is exactly how grinding should work.

The Sims' value really sits in the story factor, the building and decorating are great distractions too but it's scenes like these that need a story to go with it.

One time I became an astronaut. Having already pursued my career to fulfillment, I was a rich bastard. So I decided to go around the neighborhood stealing everyone's wives. The hilarious part about this is that the ex husband would still be living in the household when I moved in because I'd make sure he never noticed the affair. So I'd remodel the house to include an indoor barbeque in the backyard shed. While my new wife and I go out to a nice dinner, ex husband commits suicide by making sadness burgers in the shed. Then I'd demo the whole place, get a divorce, and move on. Then I decided to go to university to work on a mind control device.

Gotta love the wackiness that comes out of this game.

You have to check out the mods for Sims Four.

At least the Drug modpack, which is really good. Get your sim addicted to Coca and he'll be sucking dicks for a cheap fix at the local diners bathrooms. Its depressing but definitely makes the game more fun. Turn his wife into a heroine addicted and watch as she get gangbanged and catch an STD while her baby dies of malnutrition in the next room.
Or you can just watch them get high off weed, overeat and fall asleep on the couch I guess.

I picked up the OlliOlli bundle on switch about a week ago
How this one flew under my radar is beyond me because I am such a huge fan of the Skate series and this is basically just 2D Skate with platfoming elements, which makes a ridiculously good combination. Its so damn fun. Tricking with the left stick took some getting used to because its the right in Skate but it was quick to start feeling natural.

I'm also playing The Touryst which is a weird little game. I don't even know what genre I would put it in. Its got some light puzzles, a little bit of platforming, exploration, some stuff that feels sort of like animal crossing, its a strange mix but I like it a lot its a nice game to veg out to. Not to mention its absolutely gorgeous, developers need to take a note from Shin'en multimedia, if they can make games that look like The Touryst and Fast RMX on the switch why is it that we get this lazily put together ports that look like shit from huge companies.

Cool but I'm very bad at it, in part because I still don't really get how to make the squad AI do what I want and in part because I'm a dumb baby. I probably should have expected this but VC has way, way too many cutscenes for my taste. It probably wouldn't be so bad if it didnt return you to the book every two minutes and have you select the next one but cmon theres one battle each chapter and like 5+ cutscenes. I'm on the verge of just skipping through them to get to the battles because those are really fun and the story just isnt grabbing me right now.
On a related note I really like how your deployed units aren't just faceless soldiers, they each have their own design, voice and little bonuses. It gives me motivation not to just leave them out in the field if they die and actually get a medic to them ASAP.

Finally picked this up after having it on my wishlist for a long time. I played the demo a while back and the game seemed wonderful. Really beautiful artstyle, tight controls and movement, awesome soundtrack, but I just didn't feel comfortable spending 40$ dollars on it, thats way too steep for this type of game especially when all other metroidvanias i've ever played have been 20 bucks and under. Luckily it went on sale for half off recently and I'm excited to start it, even more so after hearing that it has a strong focus on platforming and puzzles

Currently playing Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance (2005) for the PS2.

It's a pretty fun but short beat em up, people swear a lot, the VA is alright but some of it is hilariously bad, both male and female models face's get bruised, character customization mechanics are pretty fleshed out.

Gameplay is a bit generic but I like these kinda games. for a game of this vintage it's pretty progressive, as you can see in pic related i'm playing as a huge black transexual that speaks in shortbus black person accent. This game came up with stuff like plastic surgery, tattoos and all that noise quite early in VG history (not sure if the first Saints Row games were this fleshed out in this regard) you have to change your appearance often to avoid heat from both the popo and the mob that betrayed you but you can keep a base look for quite a while.

In terms of gameplay/fight mechanics it plays like a mix of early Yakuza, River City Ransom and similar titles. It's not a long game but in order to unlock some stuff you'll require a couple NG runs.

Ultimagus, a little gamemaker game I paid a dollar for. https://store.steampowered.com/app/575360/Ultimagus/

A simple shoot em up. Has some nice weapon variety. The knight enemies are a little irritating, it seems like they just have a random chance of blocking attacks when struck which means they can take anywhere from 3 hits to 20 hits and that doesn't work in this type of game where your ammunition is often just barely enough to get by. Maybe I should just ignore them and roll the healing upgrade to compensate.

morrowind's alchemy was good provided you could resist the temptation to immediately exploit the obvious feedback loops. tbh it was better in oblivion and skyrim where there were some basic limits to discourage new players from immediately stumbling into a feedback loop of fortifying skills back and forth until they had +9999999 everything for a year of real time, or until the game broke.

You could still break the game using both alchemy and enchanting, and in skyrim you throw smiting into the mix to sharpen your weapons up. They just added some extra steps.

Morrowind on the other hand has an ingame lore book that flat out hints to exploit the feedback loop to your own ends. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Song_of_the_Alchemists

>>747410
Do not play. Repeat, do not play it. It's less of a remake and more of a glorified commercial for the shitty movie. The characters were completely rewrote and bastardized, the satire and dry humor was gutted in favor of bullshit slapstick and cringey attempts at appealing to a nebulous "mass market", and the soundtrack is just..... fucking god awful. DO NOT PLAY THE FUCKING REMAKE. Do not give money to the people who made that game. Ignore any NPC who recommends you play the remake. It's literally up there with Ghostbusters 2016 with worst remakes of all time that completely miss the spirit of the original.

Playing some Mass Effect 2 on PC. I replayed the original maybe three years ago and couldn't really finagle the second one to be playable enough at the time. It took a bit of tinkering to get it to feel decent, but it's still a bit buggy, outdated and I don't think I should have kept Vanguard, but fuck it, it's still fun.

Worst levels and way too many gimmicks.

Specter knight was really the most fluid and cohesive level design and movement structure.

I came to love the rhythm of playing plague knight.

Shovel knight is basically just ducktales, so its like, whatever okay sure.

King knight is very similar to the old wario platformers, and as such is easy but occasionally feels unfair or just absurd.

The moving ladder level, the warping planes and a few other more finicky platforming levels just didn't appeal.

But....

If you do finish all the card challenges, the bonus boss is worthy of hollow knight in terms of finesse and movement, an elegant dance.

Just finished up this little short and sweet indie title called Pinstripe.
To be honest I can’t recommend picking it up for the price it’s usually advertised at because it will take you four hours or under and that’s with experiencing everything the game has to offer, but if you can find it on sale for under 10 bucks it’s definitely worth it.
The highest point in the game in my opinion lies within the sound design and atmosphere, every action comes with a very satisfying and well made sound effect and it’s got a nice depressing winter atmosphere that pairs well with the music. The voice acting is pretty spectacular too besides one character that ironically spends most of the journey with you.
It’s got some fun puzzles, a small amount of platforming which is good because the character is floaty as hell, and a bit of combat.
Within the first 30 minutes of playing it’s easy to guess what’s going on in the story, but I still think it was well done, just needed a heavier dose of subtlety.

First thing was to murder every cop in Prague, because that's what I would expect someone in Jensen's position to do. Now Jensen punches out any civvy who gives him shit for being augmented. Amazingly, tf29 gives no shits about Jensen being a cop killer.

I still like this one better than human revolution. TF29 feels a lot like UNATCO and it's just cozy. I can almost close my eyes and pretend I'm playing a more well-written game.

Welp, Trials is still damn fun. I picked up Rising on a sale and having a blast, I think the reason this series has been good for so long is because they haven't fucked with the formula too much.
Just give me some crazy tracks, some times to beat or challenges to take on, the same satisfying control and physics and ill be a happy boy.
And it is so easy to pick back up, I played Fusion probably like 2 years ago and as soon as the game started up I was back into it like I played yesterday.

Finished Ratchet & Clank

My god there's this bigass hole right in the middle of one of the last areas in the final stage and I fuckin walked into it after killing everything up to it not once but TWICE and had to run through the second half of the stage like 10 times over.
I didn't buy the drone shield / minion glove / decoy / taunter this run though so I feel like that was hard mode, I wanted to try using the bomb glove the whole way through but later enemies just move too much and are too far away for it to be viable.

Ratchet sure is a dick through the entire game and doesn't even get motivated until his home is threatened. Gonna start on 2 now and see how his character changes between games since it's fresh in my mind.

Old School? It's a nice nostalgia trip but it's near impossible to make money as a F2P since there's 20 botters for every one player.

I've been playing RS3 since I got a free 2 week membership a while back that hooked me again and it's similar but different in a lot of convenient ways, though I must say the fact that about 50% of the people I see are either 99 in at least one skill or over 120 combat is a little discouraging when you're starting fresh. I see a lot of people that need a new hobby but they're still grinding out towards virtual level 120 or 200m exp which is madness to me even though I went from 1 to 98 smithing in a month with the mining/smithing rework.

Having played a lot of oldscape, I kind of prefer newscape, it's just easier in pretty much every way.

If you do get membership it applies to both games, even if you get a bond in one version it applies to the other as well which is pretty nice.

its really top-level gunplay
but it has basically only one good map. And thats the first one.

All other maps are so obviously not finished (all of them are missing big parts of destructable things) and some are really half-arsed.

I really hope Blood Intreactive can pull this dirt-covered gem out of the mud, I'd hate to see this concept fail.

But the dev is clearly a lazy butt (or he chose the wrong engine for this, idk) since its basically max 2 maps that are fun and detailed enough and only one of them has good particle-effects.

I've seen Doom-modders create whole campaigns in the timespan of this game still lingering in Alpha-limbo.

Considering the number of games now available these days, replaying any video game except the choicest possible seems like madness.

Replay a few of the ones that defined your childhood/pubescence so that you can experience that poignant combination of nostalgia and disappointment. Everything else should be left alone. Find new material that will entertain and challenge your brain.

That's exactly what I do. It's usually Sega Genesis or SNES that I replay tho, thats worth it. I say the problem lies within big budget titles, that just dont have that spark of replayability. I loved DQ11, but I just wouldn't play it again. Only old RPGs do it for me like ff9 suidoken 2 or breath of fire 3 that in willing to replay once a year.

Mordhau is definitely better. Graphics are better, gore is better, customization is better, physics are better, team based game modes are better.

And most importantly the skill ceiling is higher and they balanced feinting. You'll soon find out that feints are basically a win button, and in Mordhau they added "chambering" which allows you to counter feint spammers if you're good enough.

Bravely Default and Second are the best and unique looking games on the 3ds. The scene in Eternia with Tiz and Magnolia in Second is simply amazing. I have the entire 3DS game collection to play but playing BD makes me feel sorry that the 3DS era is over. I only wish someday they'll be an UnDub and uncensored version. The dub in Default was fine for the most part but with the wackiness of Second, I feel like the dub just didnt have the talent to capture its charm. Decided to boot up KH3 for the first time in a year. I guess, because the new expansion is coming out in a few days. I'm going through the Battle Gates. Honestly, I'm realizing this game isn't as bad as most people made it out to be. It may have lacked the depth that KH2FM had, but it's still pretty fun.

I like it when the games have esoteric things buried that can't be easily found. Unfortunately for that to work nowadays they do ridiculous ARG type things that an entire team of spergs on circlejerk will work tirelessly to solve. That shit is lame. So there's a design question there... how do you make a game full of esoteric knowledge that is not easily documented/spoiled by fanmade wikipenis?

You cannot wiki whether you just found a potion of death potion or ultimate healing if all the properties of potions are randomized in the game.

Yeah but that misses the point. Esoteric isn't the same as random. There's a twisted logic, a reward for digging. Not follow the wiki and then roll a dice.

Unfortunately that sort of thing isn't going to last long. Once a couple of people solve it the cat's out the bag. It's a shame, I appreciate the romance of that. However I was never a fan of games where that shit was key to finishing it. A lot of point and clicks had really obscure moon logic puzzles at one or another point where most people who got past did so by combining everything they could find. Not deliberately just because you had a bunch of puzzles that were pure developer logic.

I think it's easy to not use the wiki for those and to use it for other games though. Being able to finish a game that's 200 hours instead of getting stuck at one of two sticking points (DOS2 Tactician Mode I'm looking at you, one of those was a fight only certain player characters have to do too) when you can handle everything else is worth it for me. Though I do understand what we lost.

It’s good not great. Honestly I almost dropped it when it started and seemed like it was going to be stealth heavy but I kept with it and thankfully they just drop that after the first couple of chapter, which is good because it works much better as an action game than a stealth game.
There’s some things I really like about it like save points are really unique and interesting and so are the psychological horror aspects, there’s some really cool visuals
But it’s kind of clunky, some enemies are completely bullshit like the invisible ones, characters are completely uninteresting, game runs like ass, several glitches already, horror isn’t all that scary save a few moments so far
Even with all the problems I’m still having fun

That looked fun so I gave it a go. It didnt work too well for me.

I selected Peasant as my class and kept trying to respond like a peasant would (running away to the woods when attacked, vomiting on my captor out of fear and pissing myself when he pulls a knife out). The AI did not like that. It randomly decided I was suddenly a wizard fighting off the enemies.

Also it kept trying to make me sleep with my fictional sister. Apparently we went shopping together 3 times while I was hiding from the attackers in the forest, and she thought that it was an appropriate time to show up and graphically fondle me.

Also I apparently was able to write letters back and forth to people like they were text messages with instant responses.

Entertaining, but I think a lot of the key to it working well is tapping into choices the AI would expect you to make for that scenario anyways. Idk how AI works to that extent but it felt kinda broken like it kept trying to latch onto predetermined responses.

I was thinking that it was based on pre-programmed responses but this really is an AI working on it. It takes a bit to think about your action each time. You can /revert an action if it doesn't play out like you want as well.

Here's my first, a hard-boiled detective story. For some reason my character shoots the key witness just as it's getting started. (The AI decided that one.)

And now I'm king arthur fighting zombies. Fuck this thing is good.

You carefully turn the sword over and inspect it again. It seems perfectly balanced, making sure that the tip points straight down when held horizontally.

>

You check the inscription on the blade and read it aloud:

THE SWORD OF THE ETERNAL BATTLE FOR JUSTICE IS MY ARMY'S ONLY CHANCE AT HAPPINESS!

>

YOU SHALL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

>

> Raise excalibur aloft

You raise your hand and bring the sword up to your lips. With a single swing, you send the sword flying into the air.

With a roar of triumph, you throw the sword at your enemies who had been watching all along.

>

They don't even make the attempt to grab it, they just stand there dumbfounded. They didn't expect you to do something like this.

Suddenly, the sound of gunfire rings out behind you. You turn around and see dozens of zombies charging towards you.

>

You begin firing upon them, killing several before they can reach you. A few zombies manage to hit you though, causing you to stumble backwards. You fall onto your knees and pull out your pistol, shooting one zombie in the face before another manages to grab the gun from your hands.

> grab excalibur

You grab the sword and begin swinging it wildly in an attempt to kill as many of these things as possible.

Unfortunately, you aren't really fighting a horde of mindless zombies anymore; you're fighting a bunch of soldiers. Some are armed with rifles while others wield machine guns.

>

A couple of them are even wielding shotguns, which means that you're probably going to need some help if you want to live.

You hear a voice call out "Halt! Who goes there?" You turn around and see a young woman dressed in military fatigues standing nearby.

am I missing something in The Witcher 3? The game is beautiful, but the combat is extremely simple and easy(playing on Death March), Geralt sounds absolutely bored throughout all the dialogue(makes it hard for me to care), the controls are a bit on the bad side, the open world feels like it doesn't want to be explored. Question marks mark "points of interest" which are pretty uninteresting. What about the areas that aren't marked? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say nothing is out there.

I really want to enjoy it, and the way cutscenes are done is awesome. Reminds me of a more refined modern Bioware game. But I'm just kinda bored. I thought this was "the best game ever made"

Sounds like it got over-hyped for you. Witchers have their emotions stripped away during the trial of the grasses, although they retain some of their personality albeit in a stunted manner. This fact coupled with Geralt basically being a blank canvas that reflects the players choices does make him pretty wooden, which I think is what is intended. Exploring question marks can be tedious yet rewarding if you stick at it, although I wouldn't bother with any that are in the ocean. Everything else you touched on is pretty valid though. Great game in some aspects but falls short in others.
Definitely some good writing with moral grey areas in a lot of the quests, that's including side-quests too. I found myself wondering if I had made the "right" choice quite a bit through out my experience of it. I would recommend just smashing out the main story-line and side-quests that you find interesting if that's where the appeal lies for you.

I find the open world really dull. Showing all the points of interest on the map makes the whole thing seem like a giant checklist.
Also I hate fucking crafting mechanics and this game really goes all in on that shit. I have an inventory with like hundreds of crafting components to use for god knows what, yet I never actually have what I need to make some basic bomb or potion.

The writing of the main quest and sidequests is pretty good though.

The bombs/potions are a "craft once" kind of situation. Once you craft them once, they'll refill automatically when you meditate or whatever, so long as you have the most basic supplies. It's actually a pretty good system, so you're not constantly crafting, but you still need to gather some things.

I'll repost my /b/ one here too because I was crying with laughter while playing it.

You greet your army of starving but extremely dexterous orphans who steal for you throughout the city.
They all start chanting your name and run towards you as fast as they can.

> "Yes, it is I, children. Tell me, what have you stolen for me today?"

"Yes, it is I, children. Tell me, what have you stolen for me today?" They all shout back in unison.
You look around and see that they're not lying. You've been stealing from them since they were little kids!

> "That's fair, children. That's fair. As a reward for all your hard work, today, I will feed you. Here, take these raisins from my pockets."

You give out some of the raisins and they eagerly eat them.

The orphans are so happy that you've saved their lives that they begin cheering even louder than before.

> order the lazy orphans to get to work because the city won't steal itself

You order the lazy orphans to get to work because the city won't steal itself.

They immediately go into action and begin working tirelessly at whatever task you've assigned them.

The orphans are so happy that you've saved their lives that they begin cheering even louder than before.

> "GO STEAL FOR ME YOU LAZY SHITS, OR THAT WILL BE THE LAST FUCKING MEAL YOU EAT"

You tell the lazy orphans to get to work and that if they don't steal enough for you, then that'll be the last meal they ever eat.

>

The orphans are so happy that you've saved their lives that they begin cheering even louder than before.

> begin stabbing at orphans with your long dagger in a fit of blind fury, punishing them for their mockery

You begin stabbing at the children with your long dagger in a fit of blind rage, punishing them for their mockery.
They scream in pain and cry out as you stab them repeatedly.

> dropkick a little girl out the window onto a spike

You dropkick a little girl out the window onto a spike. She screams in agony and falls off the ledge. Her body hits on the spikes below and she dies instantly.

> roundhouse a ginger lad through the fucking wall

You roundhouse a ginger lad through the fucking wall. He cries out in pain and collapses to his knees.
He looks up at you with tears streaming down his face.
"I'm sorry, sir," he says weakly. "Please forgive me.

> tie the noose around his neck and set him on the ledge of the window while saying, "Anyone else want forgiveness?"

You tie the noose around his neck and set him on the ledge of the window while saying, "Anyone else want forgiveness?"
He looks up at you with tears streaming down his face.
"No one does," he says sadly. "Thank you."

> say "You're welcome" while shoving him out the window, the rope growing taut as the boy's neck breaks

(Later)

I get that Witchers have their emotions dulled, but I still think it's a poorly written character(so far), even if there's a lore explanation to why he is a walking trope. I also completely disagree with this notion that it allows Geralt to be a blank canvas for me to roleplay as. I feel completely detached from what Geralts motives are so far, and the way he reacts to certain situations. I've felt for certain NPCs, but Geralt responds like a dickhead. The most emotion he has shown so far is when he ate a fucking sweetroll, no joke.

But I'm gonna continue. I have a feeling I haven't hit the really good parts yet despite being 20 hours in. I hear good things about the DLC too so I want to check that out.

I don't mean to come off too harsh, I do like Geralt. There's just all these instances where I wish they let the voice actor show me something a little bit more. And he is a stud, I wouldn't blame you for fapping.

Arthur and Joel though. Now there's some damn good character writing. I actually shed a happy tear when Abigail and John got married and had a farm because I knew it would've made Arthur happy. And then you remember how their story ends ;(

But yea Arthur Morgans the best protaganist in Vidya in my opinion. His story is just kinda sad overall, thats why I bawled at the cutscene i posted. It was all for Jack in my opinion. I used to hate Jack, after RDR1. Now I know his childhood and I know hes a strong character.

You're right, it was for Jack too. Part of what got me was that he and Uncle looked happy at the end. For one of the few times in the game he had something normal. All that effort and Jack just gets sucked right back into being a gunslinger. And yeah, that scene with the nun got me too.

He's one of the few video game voice actors I don't mind, really. Most of them are overplayed and are abrasive... I think because generally lines are recorded individually, even when one or more people are in a scene. It's madness. Millions of dollars put into production but let's record lines like it's the year 2000

The AI does seem to break easily and get stuck in loops, or completely confused about were line breaks are suppose to be or random snippets of the underlying code appearing in the text.
It also seems to 'forget' who my character is and revert to John Smith.
It's impressive, for sure, but it's not quite there yet.

It's bad at telling you when it's done dialogue. You can also confuse it if you start speaking as other characters as if you were your own character, which can happen if you speak before quotation marks have been closed. It's by no means perfect, but it can do some hilarious (and complex) things.

Example:
You are a slav named Alexei in the nation of Russia. You are squatting on the corner, drinking vodka and eating semechki while listening to hardbass. You wear a glorious ushanka and an adidas tracksuit. You smell of patchouli and stale liquor. You have a .38 revolver and five bullets. Chto ty delayesh' tovarishch? What do you do?

> Play dice with the druz'ya.

You look around at your surroundings: the street, the sidewalk, the building. There is no one here except you and your two friends. They are both wearing green shirts and black pants. One has a beard and wears glasses; he looks like a priest or some other religious personage.

>

The other is tall and skinny, with a shaved head and a baseball cap. He is wearing jeans and sneakers. You notice that they are all staring at you as if you were some kind of strange alien being.

"What's going on?" asks the skinny one in the blue shirt.

> "Vse khorosho. Khotite sygrat' v kosti?"

"I don't know," says the priest-type.
"Do you think we're aliens from another planet?" asks the skinny one in the blue shirt.
"No."
"We're just ordinary people who happen to be playing Russian roulette."

> "Vy ponimayete menya?"

"Yes," says the priest-type.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Come over here!" The skinny one in the blue shirt grabs your arm and pulls you towards him.

You walk into a bar called "Druzhba."

>

It smells of alcohol and sweat. A couple of guys sit at a table near the back. Two more girls are sitting at tables nearby. In front of them is a man with long hair and a goatee, wearing shorts and flipflops.

> "Kak tebya zovut, svyashchennik?"

"Hey, what's up?" says the guy with short hair.
"My name is Alexei and I'm not sure why everyone keeps calling me by my first name."
"Oh, it's okay," says the girl with long brown hair. "Just call me Katya."

> Kak tebya zovut, svyashchennik?

"Yeah, yeah, fine," says Alexei.
"So what brings you out here anyway?" asks the priest-type.
"I was invited to this party by my friend."
"Katya, come on now! We're not talking about your boyfriend!"

> "Kto-nibud' skazhet mne chertovo imya svyashchennika?'

"Okay, I'll stop," says Alexei.
"Alright then, let's get started," says the priest-type.

He takes a drink from his beer bottle and begins to speak slowly.

>

"This is a very serious matter. It concerns the fate of our entire species."
"Our species?" you ask. "What do you mean?"
"Your species, yes. Our world, Earth."
"How did you find out about it?

>

Who told you?"
"A group of scientists working for the United Nations came across a distress signal coming from an uninhabited planet orbiting a star named Gliese 581. They discovered that there was no life on the planet, but they found evidence of advanced technology.

>

The message said that there were colonies of intelligent beings living on other planets. These beings had built ships capable of interstellar travel. This discovery led to a lot of discussion among the scientists because they didn't understand how such things could have been possible without any kind of technology."
"

> Dlya nas mogut byt' khoroshiye den'gi, yesli my smozhem ukrast' inoplanetnyye tekhnologii."

"But...but..."
"No, no, no, no. The message doesn't say anything else. All we know is that the planet has been colonized by these aliens who have sent messages to us through their ship."
"They've already contacted us?

>

How?"
"We don't know. But we need to learn more before making any decisions."
"But how can we possibly contact them if they haven't even spoken to us yet?"
"Well, we have two options.

>

One is to send a probe into space to try to communicate with them directly. The other option would be to build a device which will allow us to contact them."
"And what are those devices exactly?"
"

>

Those devices are called 'Transporters.' They're basically computers which can transfer people or objects between different dimensions."
"Oh, so they're like portals?"
"Exactly. In fact, they're just one of many ways that the aliens have used to communicate with us.

>

There are also other forms of communication, such as telepathy, which they use to talk to each other. And finally there's the ability to read minds and project images onto someone's mind."
"So...what happens when we go into battle?"
"You'll see soon enough.

>

We're going to have to prepare ourselves, though. I'm sure you remember that we have no idea what kind of weapons these aliens might possess."
"I suppose not."
"If that's all, I should get back to work. Good luck!

>

Don't let them win!"

You leave the lab and head towards your room. As you walk down the corridor, you hear voices behind you. You turn around to find yourself face-to-face with a couple of soldiers who are talking about something behind your back.

"

>

What are you doing?" you ask.
"Talking to ourselves," one of them says. "It's really hard for me to concentrate when I'm having this conversation with myself."
"Shut up!" the other replies.
"

> Chertovy inoplanetyane!" you say as you fire two shots into each of the soldier's heads.

The bullets hit their brains, killing them instantly. You then turn around and run out of the room.

> Go back into the room and examine the bodies of the soldiers.

You look at the bodies of the soldiers and notice that they've been mutilated beyond recognition. One has his arms cut off, another has had most of her body eaten away by worms, while the last looks almost human but for several missing teeth and a missing eye.

> Search the soldiers for weapons

You pick up some of the rifles lying on the floor and examine them. It seems that they were probably made from scrap metal scavenged from various places in the ship. You don't know how they managed to keep them working, but it doesn't matter because you need something to fight with.

> "Chertov inoplanetnyy zombi suka. YA plyuyu na tvoy trup"

You say this line in Russian, which is the language spoken by the aliens. The words sound strange to you, but you understand them after a few moments.

After saying this line, you feel slightly better and begin searching for weapons.

>

After a few minutes of searching, you come across an old shotgun lying near the bed. You take it and proceed to load it up with shells. This weapon isn't very powerful, so you put more rounds into it than necessary.

Ion Maiden doesn't offer much of a challenge on Maximum Fury. If you're already used to the enemies from previous playthroughs, the increase in damage and speed won't make much of a difference. The real challenge in the game comes from not getting blown up to pieces cause gernandes in this game got some serious splash damage. It's nothing I haven't seen before and il get through it for bragging rights.

I gave Dishonored 2 a second chance, first time I played was back in 2018 (according to the save file) and I wasn't too big a fan of it.
I think part of the problem was that I just got done with Dishonored 1 and bought the sequel right after, not only did I beat dishonored 1 I platinumed it so I was pretty worn out on it when starting the second, bad idea. I also chose corvo isntead of emily who really doesnt have much new going on in the second one, another bad idea.
This time I picked emily and I'm having a lot more fun. I'm even more excited to get to death of the outsider because megan's powers look even cooler
If arkane could make a third one of these and a second prey that would be wonderful

Dishonored: What the new Thief should have been. Also you may not enjoy playing as corvo, but I find him much more interesting when it comes to playing a mostly human run. Not sure if it's a thing in D2, but the first one has an achievement for never using any rune power except the non upgraded teleport. It's a decent challenge if you pair it with a no alarms, no sightings, no kills run.

Ehh they were both streamlined and pretty depthless when compared to the original thief games, but atleast dishonored has a cool world/story to go along with it, and yeah using powers in that games make it's way WAY too easy. Compared to the original thief? Have you played the dark project? If anything it's more like a version of thief with more features. Especially on higher difficulties. AI is better, combat actually works. The light gem system is gone but I think it's more realistic. Plus I like how you can shoot someone in the leg and then kick them in the face to knock them out. If you do it fast enough it doesnt count as a detection.

Yeah and even without superpowers it's still pretty easy. There are a lotways you can approach a mission, but some of those options are way better than others, and it turns the mission into a cakewalk if you choose an non confrontational approach. You also get to use both a Crossbow and a Melee weapon, headshot anyone for an easy kill, even in the later missions. The powers are silly, you can teleport to anywhere you want within your field of vision, which for a sneaky peaky Ninjawho can instant kill anyone from any direction is game breaking stupid. I admit, the first mission in Dishonored when you have the option to carry the military officer all the way to the basment was fun, but it was easily overcome by just knocking out everyone who got in the way. The other missions didnt offer as much challenge as the first optional objective so my excitment died out fairly quickly.
If you ever watched a speedrun of the first Dishonored, you'll realize just how broken the teleport is, even in high difficulty.
Dishonored is a game you get into for the lore rather than the challenge. It has a story I guess, but I find the notes and world building and the NPCs so much more interesting than whatever is happening with Cirvo or Carvo whatever his name is.

Watched my buddy play through it all, both it and the first one. Interesting concept, but I never felt motivated to play it.

It looked like the game was almost playing itself, and I cant say for sure if my friend wasnt getting any better at the game. Gameplay is way too shallow for my taste. I'd like to keep getting better at a game, and when the final boss shows up, I need it to put to the test all the things I've learned.
Assassin Creed doesn't do that. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, some people dont like to be challenged. It's the reason why I prefer to watch someone play these games rather than play them myself.

I admit, both Origin and Odyssey offers enough interesting world and story to get me to play it, but at its core, I dont believe the latest two games changed all that much from its predecessors. The choice options sure are great though, I really liked the part in Odyssey whenyou get to kill your own father and his adopted son. That was pretty fucking awesome.
I wish this series wasnt always stuck in the past. It would be kinda cool if you we got an Assassin Creed set in a Cyberpunk future.

Origins plays completely differently than the previous games. Previous games were "Press x to win" but current combat doesn't have much quicktime-yness to it. Sure, there's indicators for a perfect block if you unlock that skill, but you don't auto lock on to the nearest enemy. It plays more like dark souls than parappa the rappa, which was my biggest gripe with AC combat. It was basically just a rhythm game before Origins came out.

Andromeda isn't all that bad. Certainly better than 3. I think I got the updated version with the fixed animation. It looks alright, still wonky in some places but nothing we haven't seen before in a Mass Effect game.

Playing it on Harcore. Plays like the first mass effect, especially when you're outdoors, and it's fun. Your team AI is bad. They are useless, I've given up on them and use them as sandbags.
It takes a long time to get to the action. Spent hours talking to people on the nexus and doing missions with nothing to do but make choices. It all gets muddy, and you stop caring. Playing it on hardcore makes it somewhat dreadful to get to the action, which makes getting through and seeing the results pan out all that rewarding. It's a good system.

It has that bioware trademark of everything being tightly organized. There is your tightly picked set of Aliens you get to choose from and plus two humans of each gender. Each one of the crew with their personal problems and goals. Would be much more interesting of Ryder gives a shit.

I just got the last crew member. It feels like I'm about to do three critical missions then face a crisis fight through it, then face a final boss and end game. I hope it doesn't work out that way. I always though Bioware follows their own formula too strictly so a nice change now might be nice. Also female armors got ass yo

I like it so far. I think people just hyped the fuck out of this but they just got a typical Bioware game. I blame the marketing team.

Yeah pretty much. There's an event on now that's basically 'the afk event' and probably 2/3 of the server is here getting free herblore exp. The other 1/3 is at the agility station.

People call RS3 Easyscape and it definitely is. Everything is less effort now, except maybe combat. You can straight up buy exp and ingame gold with real cash officially.

I like seeing all the changes since I stopped playing 12 years ago, but at it's core it's still a grindfest with thousands of players at the very end of the game already, constantly clamoring for new content.

138 is the new max combat. Here's a partial list of the people at this herblore station. Maybe you'll see someone you recognize?

What's really really strange, to me personally, is how back in the day, half of the gameplay was trying to be efficient with the inconvenient menuing, like being able to hold 28 bars of metal but only work batches of 10 at a time. Now there's hotkeys and inventory memory presets and more banks and all kinds of stuff that makes actually playing the game near effortless.

To do a direct comparison, circa 2007 or so to make 28 potions, assuming you already had all the materials, you had to:
Right click and scroll down to open the bank (2 clicks)
Withdraw your herbs (2)
Clean each herb individually (28)
Open the bank again and deposit 10 and four 1's of herbs (8)
Withdraw all (automatically fourteen because that's your empty slots) water vials (2)
Click each vial and use it with the herb one at a time (28)
Open the bank, withdraw all secondary ingredient (4)
Use each herb vial with each secondary, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND since you could just consume some secondaries with one click (28)
Complete! (102 clicks, not even considering mouse movements)

But in newscape it's
Click bank to open (1) (never have to move mouse from the bank if presets are set correctly)
Load your preset of a full inventory of herbs by pressing F1 (1)
Use your hotkey, 1, to open the herb cleaning menu (1)
Press spacebar to begin cleaning all herbs (1)
Do something else for 16 seconds
Open bank, load preset 2 via F2 for a full inventory of half herbs and half vials (1)
Press 2 to open the mixing menu, press space to start mixing (2)
Talk to a buddy for 16 seconds
Open bank, load preset 3 via F3 for a full inventory of half herb vials and half secondaries (2)
Press 3 to open the potion menu again, press space to start mixing (2)
Post on the internet for 15 seconds
Complete! (11 clicks) (granted presets and hotkeys must be set once before starting)

Like goddamn, something that used to require constant attention and heavy clicking even at it's most efficient is now three button presses every 16 seconds. It makes it easy to play RS while doing something else, which is surely part of the hook.

I hate it because I recognize what it's doing but at the same time it's very comfortable and easy to play, and sometimes I'm just not up for playing a VR game when I could lay in bed and lazily click while watching a video or whatever. But then I end up playing it when I would rather be playing a VR game and it's like... :thonking:

The graphics sure are fancy now though. Relatively, that is.

haven't had time or inclination for much other than Slay the Spire recently.

finally beat the game lol. with ironclad, lots of perfected strike, strength buffs, flame barrier, and a handful of utility cards. It's a cheap and fun (and modable) game that forces you to think but is otherwise pretty low key.

It's good, but very RNG heavy obviously. I personally compare it to something like FTL or Darkest Dungeon, in a lot of its design choices, if you've played either of those. Sometimes you'll just wind up with a bad path combined with bad drops, but smart decision making/deckbuilding can turn even most bad games to your favour.

It's definitely a fun game, and thoughtfully created. If you liked Gwent, that same idea of making tactical plays is there, without it being beyond intense.

One tip I can give for a new player is that you basically have to take on as many Elites as you can, because you'll get some game-changing trinkets from the process. Maybe you don't need to be hitting every Elite on the last level, especially as some of them are rather rapey vs some builds. But at least at the start, killing Elites seems to be the only way to get powerful enough. Also, start with the Strength sword guy, as he's easy to understand. Based around doubling your damage IIRC. It's been 6 months or more since I played. Really entertaining game though, and they're only continuing to add content.

Fuck. This makes me want to play Slay the Spire instead of do my work. God fucking damnit.

My own Best Tip is something like "most characters are strongest if you keep your deck under 20-25 cards," and as a consequence, skipping card selection is correct >50% of the time.

I think the most important thing, in general, is to be purposeful in your card choices. As you figure the game out you'll learn what the different archetypes are, there aren't many per character, and you'll find the most success long-term by picking one of those archetypes in your first ~5 cards, then trying to stick to it.

>>748956
Further to what I said in my last post, I could say something like "do not play if you can't stand games that sometimes just kill you unavoidably for no real fault of your own."

This is true of pretty much every card game ever. More duplicates and fewer total cards makes anything card based consistent. This is why in MTG a ravenous rats deck always wins by turn 4.

Yep! Agree wholeheartedly. I just think it bears mentioning doubly for Slay the Spire (or, most deckbuilding games, when compared to TCG/CCGs) because of just how many cards you're offered over the course of a typical game. I think one of the biggest mistakes that new players make is not realizing they've made a good ~25 card deck and then gumming it up with 15 bullshit cards before they get to the end of the game.

Funny you mention darkest dungeon because that’s another one I’ve been thinking about. People say it’s uper hard and I’m not stranger to hard games but I don’t want to play something that is straight up unfair. Does the game teach you the mechanics well and ease you into it at least a bit?

Darkest Dungeon is real good, but the description of it being super hard I think is a bit misplaced, myself. The game is unfair by default, most of the RNG is weighted slightly against you. I compare it to a classical roguelike, sometimes, in that the intent of the game is something like "fail until you succeed." It's almost all burden of knowledge, knowing which enemies are more dangerous and stuff.

Design intent is that you're going to do things wrong. You'll take the wrong party to the wrong area and get wiped. You'll bring the wrong items, wrong equipment, wrong moves. You'll use the wrong item on the wrong thing and one of your guys will get fucked up, etc.

Sometimes you'll just enter a fight, get ambushed, critical hit one of your guys is dead, critical hit a second guy is dead and now a third is going nuts because the deaths jacked up his sanity. Huh. The thing about it, though, is unless you're playing on hard mode there's no timer, and no game over condition, so you can 100% of the time just dust yourself off, hire more disposable bodies, and resume the death march. (Some people find the pace of the game slow/grueling, but it's part of the... inevitability of victory, I think. It's a grind sometimes.)

If you're not averse to it, I'd strongly recommend doing what I did, and pirating it first. Just because it is so punishing and kinda niche. I played it for ~10 hours or so, decided I liked what I saw, and was happy to pay full price for it.

Fucking this. It's a really great game but once you get to the mid-game or so the progression curve of the game becomes an almost vertical line that actually goes backwards if you fuck up (or get fucked up by the rng).

I reccommend playing the radiant mode, it may sound like easy mode but it's actually just there for a playthrough with less grind.

Andromeda on hardcore loses traction after a couple of priority missions. I think this mode is intended for new game + or something cause I'm fighting waves of enemies, 7 to 9 enemies at a time, and the weakest enemies require at least four headshots to take down. I keep running out of ammo and have to rely on my biotics extensively to take out enemies. Tries to Normal and it's easy. Meh I think il just saved it up for the next playthrough cause I'm tired of just dashing out of shit situations and sniping enemies from a far. Its doable but I dont think it will be fun at this stage.

Hi

1.10 fixed the animation. The game is decent now. It's a mix of the first and second game with an added open world exploration. The game has its problems for sure, sometimes I run into humans who are so ugly I thought they were a new Alien race. But imagine the tightness gameplay of Mass Effect 2 in an open world environment.

The story is pretty typical so far but I like the addition of SAM. So, if you played the previous games you'd know AI's going rogue is a concern, so much so that AI resesrch and development is banned by the Alliance. So, for the new Galaxy ehat they figured they'd do is develop an AI thst would have a Symbiotic relationship with the human race. This way, they AI will never have a reason to rebel. You'rethe first test subject, and your choices in the game doesn't only effect your surrounding but also SAM and his future relationship with the human race. I really like that part of the game.

Also the Tempest is a beautiful ship. You can now actually watch it fly from planet to planet instead f just moving an icon on a big map.

I thought so too. Honestly, I only installed the game only for a good laugh but to my surprise there is actually a decent game in there.

I think people were just so badly burned by No man's Sky and Bioware past bullshittery that they completely ignored the game. There are also a number of youtubers who jumped on that shit for clickbait and it gained a lot of traction. The game definitely shouldn't have been shipped in the state it was in and I blame EA but its s decent Mass Effct game now.

I hope they'll be more in the future. Bioware has already stated that there are more Mass Effect games in the future. Hopefully it will be about exploring other galaxies.

yeah after the patch it's an alright game. No compelling villain imo but I found the gameplay and exploration to be really fun. Some interesting characters too, but nothing like my bro Garrus.

It's a decent game that got fucked on release due to development fuckery. It's also fucking BEAUTIFUL on ultra settings with the obvious exception of many human faces lmao. The scenery is incredible imo. Also the player character can look great if you wanna spend the time on it.

Eh kinda this. I think I'm close to the end and the game is starting to fall apart. It's the exiles and pirates. They are so badly written that it hurts. The animation too. The other alien races seem better animated than humans, or maybe it's just uncanny valley to me since I know how people suppose to move and that ain't it.
Gameplay is still fun. If you're Mass Effect fan and just feeling the itch to play Biotec again, this game is for you.
I've been playing so many shitty Hentai RPG maker games lately that I probably would've been impressed with any game. Maybe not. I think il try to appreciate the rest game and hope the ending at least isn't a total fuck up like three was.

Salt and Sanctuary definitely had the heart of a souls game but this has the game feel, the isometric view helps that a lot.
