i got a 32gb card in mine and i pretty much loaded it up with emus, roms, ps1 games, ISOs & some custom software. 15mb left. can't find a 64gb card anywhere online. not sure if they are a myth or not. micro sd cards are slow and the adapters would make them even slower. fuck microsd.

PSPs ftw! anyone else still use a hacked PSP?

I like that youre not ashamed of your dick size, but its just PSP games and roms, I doubt a second here and there will be something worth the price difference. Use your 32 gig card for high performance and get an SD card for the rest.

Isn't there something much faster now? What if it breaks? Is it compatible with a replacement board?
I have one of thems monochrome MP3 players, a very small one. It plays Doom. And some version of Sokoban. And .VGMs. And .SPCs. And .MODs. And .NSFs significantly better than some apps. But, it broke!
So now I'm needing a replacement. I could use a raspberry PI1, but I seriously want one with a good sound component, and likely some other such elements.

And I was sure that PSPs use memory sticks. You can't just use a memory stick and the SD card? That's what really sucks about all these devices that rely on just one storage port, or just as badly, on something overhead intensive like USB.

MicroSD cards are unwieldy abominations. What's extra annoying is that they're practically all all black with just a tiny bit of grey, barely distinguishable.

SDHC goes up to 32gigs. 64gigs, 128gigs and whatever else would be SDXC.

Man those look so fucking cool. Maybe I should get back into microcontrollers. They're so simple but you can do so much cool shit with them.

I just suck with electronics. Like I did a music show where you controlled 4 different radio bands that audience members adjusted, but I shared the power for the 4 knobs, and it made the signal really ratty. Didn't help that I was on MDPV at the time of the show and trying frantically to set it up with the help of another audience member with a little electronics knowledge.

Anyone who does this stuff have a good resource for learning the basics of electronics to the point where I won't make such idiotic mistakes? I have a firm understanding of circuit logic etc, studied for computers, but know fuck all about resistance, current and so on.

There's the PS Vita. A used one is about twice the price as a used PSP. Not sure how mature the emulators are. There's also the 3DS. The original is about as fast as a PSP, which is pathetic.

I hacked a PSP a few years ago because I wanted to play a few games on it that wouldn't have been worth ordering. Then it broke a few days later when I dropped it.

If you have a decent Android you can run a PSP emulator, never had problems with mine but I dont use it much.

Hacked 3DS works well now.

So, what does that mean regarding your problem, it's the PSP isos and PS1 titles that are taking up all that space, right? So you'd need something powerful enough to play at least one of those just to offload some of it, like if you were splitting your collection between two deviced? Or two play both otherwise.

It's all on one device. i forgot to include gba and gameboy/color games. everything runs as it should just fine unless you run the snes9x mod but even then you could change settings to make it emulate better. only drains battery a little faster but i have 2 batteries and i can buy more online that will hold a charge and carry like 6 extra psp batteries in my pockets on the go. so many hours of gameplay.

32gb card holds so much. 15mb freespace left. i wonder if the 64gb one exists irl and if not i can just delete games i beat while keeping the saves if i ever want to play the isos again.

in short the ram is enough. batteries are easy to get a hold of and it makes fun for hours of gameplay.

Like I told you, 32 gigs is the limit for *SDHC*. It's a simple question of whether a particular device or another is compatible with SDXC. Although this is the first I've ever heard of a microSD to memory stick adapter. Why don't you just get a 64 memory stick?

But fi you want to consider another device, like the suggestion of one from the DS series, then you'd likely want to see if you'd want to run some SCUMMvm titles.

Or you could consider something like a gamepark GP2X Cannoo, or whatever the newest one was called, but I think they went under.

I have one. A fucking soldier, went through so much. That it still turns on is a fucking miracle. But it doesn't function properly anymore, it doesn't charge unless it's turned on, the Select button doesn't work (sounds insignificant, but it gets funky in certain games that put things there), and sometimes the prompt to quit the game pops up out of nowhere

Don't know precisely.

Sony had a whole bunch of proprietary standards. Something like Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo, all of which are quite notably different, but there do seem to be very basic adapters. My recollection of the situation with Sony memory is that's above all simply more expensive. But that shouldn't be a big deal for just a 64gig flash card. It should work with one type of memory stick, with far less issues than with any non-sony flash memory form factor if those somehow even actually work.

It's a sony device, why would it want to work at a decent speed with anything but sony's cherished proprietary formats?
>one is better for video cameras i guess?
Quality differences should be matters of durability and transfer speeds, as seek times happen to be nil. They don't seem to even be trying to pitch memory cards as specifically optimal for particular functions, and I don't know if video cameras are such a most demanding use.

I think you might need to at the very least go on /high/ and ask about the environmental ramifications of such flash memory devices, probably along with that of batteries. Especially with battery concerns. Wait, there's a big issue there, those of such leanings would likely to prefer solutions like salvaging old laptops and making them functional again, probably old TVs too.

Awww is your wittle mind incapable of focusing long enough to follow a 40 hour story? The story isn't even the main draw in most of the games I play; it's the gameplay. Of course, the gameplay of JRPGs requires you to have an IQ above room temperature so I can understand why you REEEEEEE whenever anyone else says they enjoy them. I'd be angry too if I was as intellectually impotent as you :)
>>748647
Goddamn I'm not looking forward to this... Does it not even work when you leave it plugged in? It seems like most people play portable consoles lounging around their house anyway. I can tell you I tried the PPSSPP route and I'd rather spend another $60 to get a new PSP-1000. Also FF Type-0 is incredible. I put 100 hours into that bitch. It's one of the few JRPGs I've beaten more than once. I might even buy it properly on PS4 soon. Apparently the fan-translated PSP version is hard to find so if at least 3 people request it, I'll upload it for y'all. It's kind of a pain cause I'm on slow internet and it's a 3GB file.

OP, def try out some translated or untranslated Japanese games.

Lol get off it child, as the guy said JRPGs are monotonous and generally all the same. It doesn't take that much intellect to figure out all the little details that are slightly different in each game and how they affect all the same formulas and systems as other games.

And being able to do simple math and analysis/decision making in a video game does not make you intellectually superior. Try getting a high paying job with those skills.

You just gave a bad name to anyone who likes jrpgs. Way to go neckbeard. Theres very few jrpgs that are actually hard. The snes SMTs and maybe final fantasy 4 for the ds, they're "difficult" I guess. But the difficulty can be solved by level grinding like in any jrpg.

Was the guy who wrote the post you were replying to: I grew up on JRPGs. Dragon Quest 1-4, FF4 and 6.

I noticed two tendencies with them: they kept getting easier, and they kept getting longer and less organized.

Now they're basically auto-play grindfests where the only chance you can die (unless you have a brain injury) is on a boss. The gameplay basically no longer exists. When they became ridiculously easy they stopped being fun.

Maybe you know of one that is challenging from battle to battle, but I sure haven't heard of one. Some of the later DQs are that way but honestly they're mostly easy and require more grind.

Probably since they all start out in a similar fashion.

The challenge lies in the end game. The story is meant to keep you intrested til you get comfortable with the system then opens up a world for you explore. FFX is a cake walk for the most part but end game is challenging.

Setting aside the classics and the recent QRPG renaissance, I'd recommend the Persona, Valkyria Chronicles, and Trails in the Sky series. Every battle is a mini-chess match.

I think most people who don't like JRPGs are playing them wrong. You're not supposed to grind. The tedium of grinding is punishment for being too stupid to come up with a good strategy to beat the boss. You're supposed to keep retrying when you die, not run around and level up until you're invincible. Not a single RPG forces you to grind these days, that's a relic of the 1990s bad game design.

Many people like sony hardware. It's only PS3s that overheated horribly, at something like half as often as Xbox-360s, in spite of the bigass radial fan in it. Like the Playstation Classic Minis, which IIRC already had a lamely appropriated common emulator on them, kinda like the Retron 5.

And maybe it's just me, but it does seem pathetic how all these hardcoar-gaemeing companies only experienced with whatever they've been hyping, like LED lit power supplies or heatsinks with hairdryer fans, have been shoving into the headphones market, just getting in the way of some from scooping up some nice headphones from sony or sennheiser or grado or akg.
