This game is overrated and has the worst fans of any franchise

I liked the old Zelda games but BotW sucked dick. I dunno why people praise it so highly. Felt like a run of the mill open world game without much interesting content.

I still haven't played it. Half because I haven't liked a Zelda game since Ocarina and half because I saw the voice acting.

I'm not a Zelda fan and BotW was my first game in the franchise, and so far I had spent over more than 300 hours into game, I really loved that game.
Probably in my top list of favorite games over a decade.

If you didn't like it, then you didn't like it. I thought Mass Effect and Dragon Age Inquisition were overrated as fuck, terrible characters and boring gameplay, but I understand why people like them. Maybe explain why you didn't like the game? Especially if you happen to be a Zelda fan. For most fans of Zelda, BoTW is the best zelda game.

Its amazing in that you can spend so many hours immersed in it before realizing how its slowly sucking the joy out of your life, to the point that some people probably wont even realize it, thinking its cause they lost their job, or had a bad relationship, or that the world is a miserable place in general or something, while its those fucking sound effects and atmosphere devoid of any emotion except existential emptiness.10/10

lol you nailed it

I borrowed this game from a friend since I was skeptical of it after hearing about some crazy stuff they've done in the name of Zelda. I made it to the 15 hour mark before I felt like I was just wasting my time. This is in a sense Open World: Kids Edition. I've never felt so lonely and bored playing anything on my entire life. At least I didn't spend my money on it.

It's just built around gameplay entirely. If you're not a gameplay whore you won't enjoy it.

I fucking hate stories in video games because they all continually insult your intelligence, just mind-blowingly bad. I don't think a single game design studio has ever once considered employing an actual, published writer to craft a story, "because obviously anyone can do it!!!!!111" and dumbfucks love dumb stories anyway, and video game players are morons, right?

Anyway it was a straight up video game, as soulless as the original Legend of Zelda, and that's what made it great. I finished it in a pretty short amount of time and was quite happy with the experience. Was it the greatest game ever? Nah, but it was quite a fun time. Only saw maybe 25% of the content, collected 0 chickens, enjoyed the world and got the FUCK out. gg no re

I love the Zelda games, the only ones i haven't completed were the game boy/DS ones and skyward sword. tried to get into skyward sword but lost interest pretty quick

I really enjoyed BotW in the same way i really enjoyed Skyrim and I couldn't play any of the other elder scrolls games.

It is not a classic Zelda game, it needed better "dungeons" or divine beasts. but I liked how they took the linear feel out of the series. The durability of weapons was annoying at first till i had too many weapons to care. Also liked how weapons could adhere to different play styles.

Its a good game, but is it a good Zelda game?
That's debatable. I had a lot of fun with the game the same way I had fun playing Skyrim. I modded the hell out of it, and played the vanilla experience and the Dark Souls experience by making it a one hit death playthrough. It was a lot of fun role playing a female Link Ninja, but that's not really what Zelda is all about. I hope this kinda thing isn't here to stay.

That girls from Haganai right? Is it good? I've been meaning to watch it, but keep putting it off for other shows. I just finished Golden Time and From me to You, now im on School Rumble. This damn virus has got me havin to much time.

And thats what I hear about most about BoTW. Its a great game, but a "bad" zelda game. I felt the same about Skyward Sword. Its fun, but it just doesnt feel like Zelda.

Zelda has never been about the same shit. Zelda 2 was a side-scroller. All of the games are different. Zelda 1 and LttP are NOTHING like OoT and MM.

I'm sad we'll never have a high-end original-formula Zelda ever again (flagship, not straight to shitty worthless "only a child would play" handheld gayness).

Links Awakening on GB was my favorite. Best story in a Zelda game overall.

I've seen the remake but don't like the art style and didn't really like a Link Between Worlds.

The 2 on GB made by Capcom are also solid titles. Basically just mods of the first but they also have a lot of Majora's Mask shit in them because they came out at the same time.

It's the first modernized open-world Zelda title, so of course people are gonna deepthroat it nonstop regardless of any legitimate shortcomings. It's by no means the masterpiece people parade it as, but it's still a great, solid 8/10 game

Is Twilight Princess actually similar to those first two somehow? Haven't played it, only 3D Zelda I really like is BotW. Yes, 64 kids, that includes Zelda 64 and Zelda 64 pt 2. They were interesting but deeply flawed and not fun to play.

In my opinion, 2D Zelda games will always be better than 3D.
Twilight Princess sort of feels like a 2D Zelda game but with 3D - A 2D version of Twilight Princess would be so bad ass.

My least favorite game was Skyward Sword, but I think that was mainly because using a wii-mote to swing your sword is retarded.
Story line wise Skyward Sword was just okay.

I highly suggest you emulate Link's Awakening right now on Visual Boy Advance.
If you like that, try A Link To The Past afterward.

Best wishes!

Not sure I could handle Twilight Princess if the pacing is slow as Mario says

>the world is fun to explore

That's the one part I disagree with. You spend a lot of time just running around doing fuck all. It still suffers from the issues most open world games have, albeit not as much. Reaching hidden shrines is fun and all, but over all its just you pressing forward waiting for something to happen.

You may just not like exploration all that much. It's not pressing forward waiting for something to happen. You explore and press out into the unknown in the direction that pleases you. You can also basically beat the game from the start if you're hardcore enough, which is pretty cool. Emphasizes that it's about the journey entirely.

Hard disagree there. This game had some solid exploration. The use of open space really made it feel like a proper landscape you were traversing, but there was always something to keep your eye peeled for. A korok seed, a shrine, a little horse stable, a nice horse or some herbs or something to hunt. But it never felt like it was shoved in my face. The gliding and climbing fit in perfectly too.

> there was always something to keep your eye peeled for. A korok seed, a shrine, a little horse stable, a nice horse or some herbs or something to hunt.

I think it says a lot about how lame the exploration is in this game when two of your examples are basically collectibles (shrines, korok seeds) which are the lamest part of any exploration/open world game, and the other ones are... a horse... herbs... and stuff to hunt? If those are the best examples you can think of to praise about the exploration then it really doesn't sound very good at all.

The exploring was nice because you'd spot something worth investigating... a landmark, seeing something like the Labyrinth Island, Death Mountain, or Hyrule castle or The Forgotten Temple ...and along the way there were always little things you could miss like the towns, korok seeds, fairy fountains, horses etc, that rewarded you for peeking into that nook or climbing to the top of that mountain. I thought it was a nice way of leaving breadcrumbs that blended into the world, and weren't laid upon a literal trail going from one point of interest to the next.

It is an extremely flawed game, but exploring the map was one of the few solid parts of the game for me. The cutscenes are dreadful, the guardians are boring and the combat is basically brain dead easy.

The fact that you HAVE to mod it to make it a good game makes it a bad game, but the ability to use mods make it absolutely nigh infinitely customizable.

My dream is that they release a game that is good vanilla. It's like every time they go to release an ES game they try to do something that is for them a moderately revolutionary new thing, radiant AI in Oblivion, Factions/Dragons events/Radiant quests/Many other things that feel pointless to mention in Skyrim, but they always end up lackluster in actual story content. Within three months after release there are released several simple mods which add immensely to the gameplay value. Things which could have easily been added by the dev team at that.

ES6 is gonna look worse than modded Skyrim on release. Its gonna look a little better than Fallout4, which looked like absolute shit. Besides, I dont think ES6 is gonna be modded as much as Skyrim. Some people might try, but it wont get as much attention as OG Skyrim.

What are you basing that on? They're doing photogrammetry and face scans for ES6, pretty sure it will be a decent step above skyrim graphically. Good RPG mechanics/voiceacting are more what I'm worried about

I got the fuckin tunic bros. I don't do that for every game. The full ass mastered up master sword, and the godamn actual green outfit of the game. Pretty damn satisfying, had a good time, seems like first half of the game is what most people idealize though....

The ending castle just makes me want more dungeons like that. Shrines were neat in a Portal kind of way but damn it give me some spooky hallways.
