It was fun when I came out, but I have no idea why people are still so addicted to it. Is it the spell crafting thing? I havent played any version with the spell crafting thing.

Is there any game that pushed the minecraft idea to the next level technically? Like, using modern hardware to simulate much smaller voxels and shit. Is there any such game that's like minecraft but with a much more advanced voxel engine? There's so much that can be improved technically on minecraft, and I'm not talking about lightning, fuck lightning. I'm talking advanced physics and voxels and shit.

People still play Tetris, still play Counterstrike, still fuck in missionary. No real reason they just like it.

There's a realistic terrain mod that makes natural looking geography instead of disjointed biomes next to each other that is pretty cool.

Well, I have to agree that minecraft has the timelessness of tetris, counter strike and missionary; because of its music, art-style and enemies. But I think that the addictive factor is not there. At least not for me. I can see why someone would play counter-strike or tetris or missionary position for thousands of hours, I can't see why people would play minecraft for thousands of hours. Minecraft is kind of just an obsolete tech demo. Feels like when something more advanced comes out it's not gonna be relevant anymore. There are many really impressive voxel engines being made

Planet explorers, despite it's glitches is better IMO. You custom design 3d weapons, vehicles, buildings, and defense platforms. The materials you put into them and the shape you use change how good the design is for it's application. You can create colonies that farm resources for you, and aliens attack the colonies from time to time. The voxels are not cubes.

There's a massive mod community for Minecraft that makes it a lot more than just a lego simulator
Most of those people playing MC are not playing vanilla.

Gosh you got me upset. PE was gonna be so great but the developers fucked up so bad and now it's also basically a tech demo. No multiplayer, limited things to do ;__;

Nah, shit is terrifying. I'm always afraid the tunnel is gonna collapse on me and I either get crushed or suffocate.

Lots of great mods for Minecraft though. It's a useless experience back in the day but now its maybe fun for a day or two. Still suffers from the same pointlessness. Tried to get my friends in on it but all we did is punch each other to death and jump off cliffs.

Makes me wish I could get java working on my computer so I could play again. You need some mods to make it feel like there's more of a point. Things like chunk claims so you can have PVP zones where building isn't allowed except by certain people. Feed the Beast is an excellent modpack for extending the game's life. It adds several kinds of magic (blood magic powered by how many <3 worth of blood is saved in your altar, alchemy that requires travelling to magic planes, witchy rituals that create items and potions as well as spells, extra options for enchanting), and a technological path that turns you into iron man using the power of dragons and 1.21 gigawatts of electricity. Speaking of electricity, you can (and pretty much need to) build a power plant to make all this cool shit work. There's enhanced smithing with alloys, liquid metal, and casting. Many of the mods have story modes you need to go through to understand or unlock more of the crafting. Like in the Myst mod, you have to find a book and escape it by creating a key book from inside that book. And you would learn how to do that by wandering the weird world that gets created by the book, searching for clues like you are actually a character in Myst.

Anyway, I'm rambling. If you think Minecraft needed more content, try the Feed The Beast mod pack. See who can get become an immortal blood god using the power of a dimensional rift powered by a giant zombie treadmill first.

Every single negative review on Steam seems to be "I PAID FOR THIS AND NOW IT'S FREE I'M SO MAD THUMBS DOWNNNN"

Says nothing about the game itself. Is game good? You're a complete selfish cunt if you leave a negative review based on the developers abandoning the project and making it free. I just want to know if it's worth paying for, you know, $0

I didn't leave a negative review because I'm not that much of a cunt. It's a good enough game to play for free. I'm more mad that them giving it away for free invalidates the 20 I paid because it's like admitting that they're not going to finish the game.

Think about it this way: if you hadn't paid $20, they wouldn't have been able to make it. So now everyone has this cool thing for free.

Seems pretty great, honestly.

Il try the mods. But to be Frank, I'm not entirely enthusiastic about playing it. I do it mostly cause it's just a place for my friends to hang out in while we chat. It gets a little awkward if we dont speak to each other for a while, so we just log in in a realm I'm paying for and we just chat while walking around. We got into it a bit lately now that we're all here, and we built a nice village but now that we found a bunch of diamonds we just dont know what to do anymore. Last time we logged in, we just started at each other while talking. Maybe if there is a way I could mod the world in the Realm, that might make it a lot more interesting. Yeah, il try to look that up.

We might just go back to DnD roleplaying stuff if it doesnt work. We could go back to WoW but everyone was getting depressed thinking about all the time we wasted on that MMo so we had to quit.
