Anyone ever try a no stat-junction run in FF8? Meaning you can still use junction for guardian forces and the abilities they grant, but you can't use it to junction magic to fortify stats like strength and HP. How difficult would this be? I might only do it up to the end of disc 1 (where squall dies, the rest is just a time compressed dream sequence) if the challenge turns out to be completely unreasonable I suppose

Why would I want to ever play FF8 again, let alone a gimmick run?

Disk 2 will be a killer. Fujin and Rayjin kicked my ass the first time I played FF8 and I had to restart because I didn't have any aeros stocked up to put on m.def or cards I could make it with. In my defense I was like 9 or 10 and didn't even understand the junction system. They can tornado your whole party and if you don't have a healer set up with wind absorption or really high m.def they'll kill you in a few turns.

Basically this game is unbeatable if you don't use the junction or use it poorly but broken and too easy if you use it right. Still some fun to be had. I wish there were more RPGs with the junction system, I feel like it's a solid concept they abandoned before perfecting it.

I tried this run many many years ago. I got stuck at the end of disk 2. The boss under Balamb Garden took me forever, but it was Cerberus in Galbadia Garden that proved impossible to beat without Junctions.

Ultimecia is so clearly Rinoa. They even have the same face model. I cant believe so many people never realized it.

If that's true then why was Rinoa able to kick her ass in the final battle in my game

Because ultimecia is Rinoa from the future after everyone she loved died. She was the only one who knew about Griever. Her castle is located at the location where Squall swore his path. She literally has the same face model. All the signs are there. WAKE UP

Also lol who the fuck uses Rinoa when they got both Zell and Selphie?

Yeah, I love FF8 too. It's a mess, but it's my mess you know what I'm sayin.

The whole theme of the villain is your girlfriend from the future, It salvages this mess of a story so il believe it. Also Square likes to tease us to this day, leaving references in Dissida and stuff.

I have replayed this game several times since I was 10 yrs old, and in no phase of my life has it made sense yet. I think maybe because I get a little worn down by it and stop paying attention. I never caught this, and I couldn't really tell you what the story is about much past the part with the Minotaur maze.

Personally my least favorite FF that I beat, but the characters are cool at least.

I can't imagine making the game more difficult OP but more power to you if you like. Since the game difficulty sort of scales with your party its probably doable. Always thought that was a unique feature in this one.

Maybe I'm fucking retarded but I understood the story the first time around. I missed a couple of things but I felt I understood it. Still, I really like the game.

It took me three playthroughs to realize Seifer was teenager with an overactive imagination who watched the movie Laguna started in and basically was mimicking his every move. A knight saving a princess, he even got the same weapon and coat. I warmed up to Siefer a lot after that.

Fisherman's horizon is by far, my most favorite soundtrack. It's just so chill, and it represents the location so well. I wish I could live in a town like that, so far away from the hustle and bustle of the world.

Fisherman's Horizon is a classic. I learn to play that on guitar. Also, dont be afraid is a good battle theme.
