I have beaten exactly 50% of the games I own (not counting games without endings etc) according to my Backloggery page :)

Been trying to make more of an effort to beat games before buying more since I started that page up. But at the same time I'm not going to force myself to wade through something I'm not enjoying nor and I gonna force myself to wait to buy a game I'm super excited for.

I think I buy stuff for the option. It's nice to dig back and have a go at new stuff sometimes without needing to spend more cash - also when I'm drunk of spangled, sometimes I can't manage the games I normally play (grand strategy, shooters) so I plug in my Ps4 controller, install a 0.5GB beat em up and have a go at that or something. You don't have to finish everything, just like you don't gotta listen to every bit of music you own, or read every book right away. It's there if you want it. <3

I buy all the games that interest me especially if they're on sale. I havent beaten like 70% of the games I own. Mainly because I dont have time. I dont regret buying them either. I can afford it. Unlike a certain 20 something year-old brazillian faggot, who begs people to buy him games and still lives at home with mom.

I hoard sometimes. I don't buy a ton of games, but I also don't complete a lot. I've only ever got platinum on 1 game (Peach Beach Splash) and come to think of it maybe I didn't, I might be missing one trophy.

Some games I buy to support developers I like, and I like to jump around a bunch between them. Others I only buy for multiplayer and never touch the story. Then there's some I want to try so bad at launch for hype but feel guilty about my unfinished backlog and it gets added to the list.

I don't mind gaming this way, gather ye pearls while the hog walks.

This is like an antipost, it serves less than no purpose

When I used to buy physical games and didn't have the internet I tried to complete all the games I bought, but now that steam and the internet are around I have more games than I could ever complete. Steam offers games I think are interesting for very low prices and they take up no physical space so I don't feel particularly bad about not playing them immediately.

I certainly prefer having a physical copy of the game for a console, as that means at any point in the future, as long as I have a power outlet and a TV I can plug into, I can play the game. I'll never have a situation where the network is down and I can't play, or some update changes things in a way I don't like, or the developers decide keeping it online isn't worth their money anymore so it ceases to exist.

Too bad a lot of games on disc only include half the game now. Someday the servers that download the patches will be turned off, and a good portion of discs will become useless.

>I certainly prefer having a physical copy of the game for a console

I used to feel the same way, but after multiple generation of consoles, all the boxes start to take up space. I considered taking advantage of the basement and turning it into a game room like so many other Youtubers do it, but I optioned out to moving on to just digital. I placed everything in a Box and stored it somewhere safe, but it made me wonder why I even bothered to collect them all. I prefer gaming on Retroarch over any of the Original Consoles, and everything is one just a couple of clicks away over an entire setup. Maybe if I had a Decent CRT TV I would be motivated to try and play games in its original state but for now, everything I ever played and payed for concerning consoles for the past twenty years is stored in a storage.

You watch stuff like Cinemassacre and you see the way he surround himself with nostalgic relics of the past and it looks kinda sad.

I restart RPGs over and over until I realize they suck. I've played way too many, and I either understand the mechanics too well or realize how little I understand them, either way it prevents me from just pretending I'm in the game. I get too obsessed with trying to make the perfect character and it's always impossible. That doesn't stop me from spending 50 hours trying though.

And in case you were wondering, every RPG sucks. Any good experience is purely a fluke, a result of luck, meta-gaming, and imagination filling in the gaps. People attribute their experience to the game not realizing it was themselves making the game enjoyable. That's the reason Bethesda games were so good, I mean sure they had interesting worlds, but they allowed enough sandbox freedom while still making you think what you were doing was in-character. You could find ways to outsmart the game itself and the game rewarded you as if you played the game well. It worked because the worlds were so interesting that eventually every player would end up just wanting to explore interesting places and collect cool stuff. The games themselves were absolute broken trash, even Morrowind.

The worst and best RPG I've ever played is Underrail. All the freedom you have in character building is an illusion and you're forced to build out of a handful of archetypal classes, with hardly any exceptions. I've spent like 60 hours in this game trying to overcome that rule and it just doesn't work. The game is so god damn boring to start out that it discourages you from trying different builds, and you can't do all the cool stuff you want in a single play through let alone 3 playthroughs.

I love RPGs and I cant even stand to play them. I'm too woke.

I believe there are certain advantages to listening to music via a Vinyl over Digital, so there is a reason to create a collection of Albums from your favorite bands. I don't think there is an advantage to VHS tapes, It only offers a weaker experience compared to DVD and HDdvd.

Maybe if you wanted to watch something in it's original state before someone changed it like adding CGI, like for example Star Trek The original Series. But besides that, I don't believe there is a real reason to do so. Collecting all those VHS tapes doesn't offer anything different, they're Merely relics. Maybe they do, I haven't touched a VHS tapes in a long time, but from what I remember I can only Imagine DVD and HDDVD offering a much better experience to VHS.

Same thing with my games. I don't believe owning a console and the game itself will offer anything I cant already replicate on my PC. A PC and a CRT monitor will recreate the experience flawlessly and without the hassle of actually dealing with an outdated medium. There is no real reason to own those products besides the desire to own them. That's not what video games is about Its about playing the game. A lot of people get caught up on the idea of video games but not the videogames themselves. that's what's sad about it.

Do you not understand that some people just collect shit because they like it? It's just something people enjoy doing. Nothing sad about it. I know a guy that collects old beer cans. He has some cans from 50+ years ago and made a big display out of them that actually looks pretty cool. Obviously there's no real "advantage" to collecting them. People collect all sorts of dumb shit. People like to collect shit because they enjoy it.

I find it weird that you don't seem to get this. It's a pretty normal thing for people to do and it's not "sad". You need to get out of your house more man.

I know that, I collect Figures myself. There is no real use to them, I do it cuz I like the way they look. I have a display cabinet set up just for them and I take them out of the box and maintain them.
You know, he brings it up multiple times in his videos, talks about how he much prefers to rent the movie or film from Amazon or PSN service over dealing with the medium itself. He even talks about buying Blu ray collections and never bothering to watch them because of the unskippable ads and trailers. He purchase it, keeps it his basement, and never bothers with them. He's just hoarding the blu ray boxes for the sake of it. The product did not serve its purpose. Like those video game hoarders who never have time to play the games they "collect"
That's kinda sad.

No, I do actually share pictures of them and discuss those figures on the Net a lot. And besides, I have a rule when it comes to figures. I only purchase figures of games I either platinumed or have completed 100%. The reason why I do this so I maintain a connection with this figure as a sort of trophy for my effort, and I wouldn't waste my money purchasing figures just for the sole reason of owning one. I don't buy those figures as a conversational starters, actual fans will quickly dismiss you as no real fan just another person with disposable income. And neither do I buy them as simple decorations, while I only like good looking figures from reputable manufacturers likes ALTER and Good Smile Company, I can never purchase a figure unless I earned it.

I've seen enough Figure collections of people with no real love put into them. Unless the collection evokes a good memory of your past, not just the joy of owning something, I don't see the point in it.
You can even hear it in rich people like Jay Leno when they talk about their car collection. He works on his cars a lot, and I wouldn't call him as just another hoarder, but compare the way he speaks of his Daily Lamborghini to the way he talks about the Maclaren F1 and you'll know which car he really cares about.
