Steam has a bunch of demos for upcoming games up this weekend. Kind of like a quarantinE3. Any one else have some recommendations for demos to check out? So far I've tried:

>Grounded
First person "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" style survival game from Obsidian. Can only play a 30 minute slice, and there's not a lot of content yet, but I can see sinking some time into this when it comes out of early access. Like Subnautica, it appears to have a nice hand crafted map to explore, and isn't heavy on the hunger/thirst meter babysitting.

>Ghostrunner
First person cyberpunk ninja parkour kill em' up. Hotline Miami hard, but super satisfying to chain wall jumps, slides, air dashes and grappling hooks to cut a nigga in half. Banging music too.

>Gestalt: Steam and Cinder
If you're getting 2D pixel art Metroidvania fatigue, it's probably not going to convert you, but I love games like these, so I'll probably check out the full release. It's got a cool steampunk western aesthetic, nice atmospheric world, and the combat system could be fun as it opens up.

I highly recommend giving the demo for Vigil: The Longest Night a go if you're into Dark Souls or Bloodstained. It's a lot like Salt & Sanctuary in that it's literally 2D Dark Souls, but unlike S&S, the art is not shit. Wicked monster designs too.

Checked it out on the steam page and it's literally a call of duty clone almost nearing to outright plagiarism.

Thinking about getting the Deluxe Edition on Steam.

Only want to continue playing Terrorist Hunt in Coop. Is it true they nerfed it, so you can't earn enough Renown now?

Will unlocking new Operators take an unreasonably amount of time if I play TH only?

Did they upgrade / added new stuff in TH over the years?

if you want to play Overwatch-Siege with unrealistic cartoon-characters and a coop-mode that has been shit to the ground, go for it.

What was semi-realistic in the beginning, now turned into some kind of cartoonish mix of Call of Duty and Overwatch.
Also Ubi$oft nerfed the Coop-matches to shit,
you'll earn nearly nothing.
They basically just threw the coop-mode into the trashbin.

Grinding for Renown is still an absolute pain in the arse, game is littered with microtransactions and lootboxes.

Also one of the most toxic communities I've ever encountered in a "tactical" shooter. Constant teamkilling, yelling into the mic, trolling etc.

Fuck me Curse of the Obra Dinn is good, isn't it? Never played a game that gave me such a sense of accomplishment. Pleased with myself that I've not used a guide yet, although it did take a while for me to get into. I'm doing what Yahtzee suggested in his review and just trying to do small bite size play sessions at a time.

Other than that I've bought Space Hulk: Deathwing to play with my friends, along with MGS5 (One of the reasons I bought a gaming PC in the first place) and 2 point hospital.

Finished Obra Dinn in one sitting. It was pretty good. Although near the end, it felt kinda like I just had to guess who a few of them were by process of elimination. Managed to finish it and get everything figured out though.

I already had Ion Fury, Amid Evil and DUSK,
got myself MAximum Action. Man its Janky as hell, but already so much more fun than any recent AAA-title! Even better than Doom Eternal imho, all it needs are way more maps though.

All I need New Blood Interactive, 3DRealms and Devolver pull off now, is a comfy Coop-Shooter where you can blast demons / zombies or other monsters to pieces.
Something low-spec but visually pleasing, easy to run and easy to join with friends.

I loved DUSK but it really needed more weapons. However the amazing level design, especially after the first 1/3 of the game made up for it. Doing backflips in a FPS feels so good and it's weird that you don't see that in more games of the genre.

I disagree. Every weapon in the game served a purpose to counter different enemy types, and adding more weapons just for the sake of it wouldn't add anything but bloat without also rebalancing by adding more enemy types as well.

I always considered it lazy in design to have certain weapons meant to counter specific enemies. You should have a large arsenal of different weapons, lethal against all of the enemies, but each one shines for certain situations. That's why I love Amid Evil so much. No weapon is left behind, Even the Axe can prove useful and really shines in the hardest difficulty.

I wish people paid more attention to Hedon. Its not as fast paced as all the other, but I still think its a good shooter.

every month or so i consider trying that one but then get suspicious about the thick orc waifus all over the promo images on the store page. (i mean i don't dislike the art but it makes me question the quality of play.)

also if you want an obscure shooter, nightmare reaper is decent. kind of like a faster heretic.

Yeah the art is bad and its kinda of a meme but its a solid game. Not your average shooter so I cant really compare it to anything we're familiar with. It definitively has its moments of action, but a good portion of the game time is spent getting you immersed in the world you're in. Exploring mines, diving in lakes, and venturing into empty strongholds. A lot of world building, notes to read, worlds to visit. A lot of attention to detail. There is a good amount of puzzles but nothing tedious, nothing Trial and error

. I have to talk about the weapons because they're really good. The shot gun and assault rifle both feel really good to play with. And your Melee, the Axe, plays an important part in your engagement of enemies and solving some of the puzzles.

If the art is that much of an issue, you don't actually run into a lot of NPCs in the game. Mostly its just you and your enemies.

I'm still waiting on Nightmare Reapers to leave Early access. I just don't play EA games. I know a lot of people recommend it and im sure its a decent game, but from the footage that I saw, I still think its better to wait.
