So I haven't looked into it too much but I think the glory days of full conversion mods are behind us. When I say full conversion (I will just say FCM for short from now on) I mean a free fan made mod for a existing game. Something that generally uses little from the original game besides the engine to make something completely new. This does NOT include small mods like adding some new weapons/enemies/levels to a game.

What FCM's have you guys played? Ones I've played:

Battlefield 2: Project Reality (Mostly dead, some signs of life.) - Superseded by Project Reality.
Renegade-X (Active-ish, has players but only at specific times/days.)
Renegade-X: Firestorm (Mod is coming out soon™, might be cool but I bet it won't hold its player count for long.)
A Path Beyond (Dead as far as I can tell? Supposedly has people playing it but I've never seen more then 1-2 players at a time.)
Team Fortress 2 Classic (Very new, haven't actually played this one yet and not sure it exactly qualifies as a FCM?)

Lets discuss! Singleplayer FCM's are fine too!

Mount and Blade Warband had quite a few FCMs that I enjoyed.

Prophesy of Pendor - Completely original fantasy settings with a lot of new features and improvements, also notorious for being much more difficult than the original game

Gekokujo - Changes the game to the Sengoku period of Japan. Full map conversion, new armors, weapons, etc. Combat feels quite different due to the removal of shields. Custom sieges and more.

A World of Ice and Fire & A Clash of Kings - Both good game of thrones conversions.

Hopefully Bannerlord will see some nice mods in the future

I don't think you understand the topic. Those are just small babby mods.

How did no one say:
Skyrim: Enderal. It's fucking better than most of what Bethesda does. I LOVE THAT FUCKING GAME. and it's such a total conversion it's a whole other reality. You even level like an actual RPG and OOF, I don't want to oversell it JUST GO LOOK IT UP.

I came here specifically to talk about Enderall, but you got it.

The same people that did Enderall are also doing a Fallout (4?) mod, I've heard.

That would be fucking sick. Have you checked out their previous total conversions in Oblivion and Morrowind? They're called: Nehrim, Arktwend & Myar Aranath. There's also a Fallout 3 mod they did, I still haven't checked it out but it looks sick.

Unfortunaly I think only Enderal has English voice acting, but the others all have English text, just the Oblivion one is in German, they may have released a translation since I last checked though.

Nehrim is good stuff, and the fact it is in German with english subs is pretty neat. Gives it some extra uniqueness

I played nehrim and was already downloading Enderal when it first came up. New PC so I'm slowly repopulating my games. Felt a hankering for elder scrolls but also knew skyrim would fall flat.

I agree about the german, it did make it feel more otherworldly. I can only speak about 15 words of it. The dialogue, especially about gods was a bit heavy handed, suddenly everyone used philosopher language to explain why they were enlightened atheists. I mean it's fantasy and whatever rules the authors say to about the setting applied. I didn't get too far though for various reasons but it was cool.
